(Earth, Bellwood, currently)
The knock on the door was answered by Jen and Gwen causing them to sequal in delight in a manner which Gwen and Mason knew.
That was Lucy, the kids second cousin, but 'Aunt Lucy'? she was one of the family members the kids NEVER got tired of seeing.
Gwen and Mason watched as the mud like alien washed over her 'nephews' like a wave of silly putty. She giggled and wrapped the duo up in a massive hug. Her body transitioned from it's natural Lenopan form into her more human body. She swung the two Tennyson children around before slowly letting them to the ground. they clung to her legs as she giggled.
"Hows my favorite little troublemakers?" Lucy asked as she sent one of the ice melting smirks at her cousin that Gwen knew to expect from her.
Lucy had 'aged' about as much as a being made of material similar to sludge. Her hair was now tired into a ponytail to contrast with the falling let down boyishly short hair her cousin had.
The pink 'painted' nails along with black and red boots, blackish purple shirt with a star and freckles helped… along with red lipstick to contrast with Gwen's pink… not that Gwen didn't have freckles, along with piercing green eyes.
Lucy was now slightly taller than Gwen, she smiled and hugged her cousin.
"Hi, Lucy." Gwen smiled as her cousin detached herself from Gwen to look at Mason.
"Hey, Mace. You still keeping my cuz company in her middle-aged crisis, or are you getting too old to be a plumber?" She asked as Mace chuckled slightly.
"Hanging in, Luce. Good to see you, if I told the kids you called, they would have torn the door down going to talk to you." Mason rubbed at the back of his head and grunted.
Lucy was the first person the kids would latch onto when she came over. They loved her jokes, her silly nature, and how outgoing she could be.
That also made her the perfect sitter if Mason and Gwen went out on one of the dates they set up. mason was glad not many were ruined because it annoyed them to no end.
Still, Gwen tended to be more horrifying then anyone he knew. His wife terrified him more than his in-laws. Mason found that was something that tended to be an example within itself when it came down to being horrifying.
"We fought a Vilgax robot at mom's favorite diner!" Danny stated only for Jen to roll her eyes at her sibling.
"Yeah, she knows, doofus. She watches the news." Gwen watched her children as Lucy hummed and nodded.
"Well, Baked Mutts does have insurance, and civilian injuries were nonexistent. I think they should have gotten insurance on the name, however." Gwen heard her children chuckle along with Lucy.
"That was one of my favorite restaurants, Lucy." Gwen sighed and rubbed at her eyes; this was the last thing she wanted when it was approaching her anniversary with Mason.
Lucy waved her arms to soothe her cousin as Gwen sighed and rubbed at her temples now. Mason did his best to massage her shoulders so she didn't freak out at the moment.
"I know. I'm sorry, you know Vilgax hasn't been seen in over a year or so. You really tore into him the last time you guys fought. I haven't heard the plumbers even mention him as being seen around the galaxy. Azmuth hasn't even seen him." Lucy pointed out, knowing it at least made things seem a little better.
The defeat of Vilgax left a power vacuum nobody seemed to want to claim. It seemed the thought of being the most wanted criminal in the energy galaxy was a bit too much for people.
Then again? Most criminals she faced seemed to want to try and rebuild. She couldn't blame them with the Plumbers taking a bigger role in the galaxy and its protection.
Gwen cracked her neck as she leaned close to her cousin who was busy watching the kids run around her legs like she was a new toy.
"Don't tell them I'm bringing them to the water park tomorrow. it's supposed to be a surprise you, 'Uncle Ben', and Max are coming." Gwen whispered into her ear.
Gwen knew Lucy was not someone you trusted secrets with, she would blab at times if it was funny. then again? It wasn't entirely a secret that the kids were going to the water park.
Gwen heard Lucy nod before she led the kids away, they jumped after their cousin.
"Middle Aged, Mason?" Gwen asked her husband before Mason sighed.
"What? it was a little funny? I can take a joke." Gwen rolled her eyes at her loving husband and hummed with a smile.
Tomorrow was another day… of crazy adventures.
