Summary/disclaimer: time for another chapter of Future Endeavor Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Ben Ten, Cartoon Network and a few others do.

(Earth, Bellwood, 30 Years ago)

Gwen rushed through the crowds as Celerity. Animo had taken Mason. She knew he had. Animo had practically shouted it from the rooftops on what he had done. Gwen rushed past them and into the swamp on the Florida.

Animo didn't just single out Mason from the crowds. The man had chosen him because it would hurt Gwen the most.

Gwen continued speeding through the swamp. Her feet splashed through the murky waters of Florida.

"Animo…" Gwen whispered before the water of the swamp in front of her exploded.

A giant alligator which was covered with dragonfly like wings emerged. It roared and snapped its jaws at Gwen.

Gwen hummed and leapt over the monster. She couldn't stop or she'd sink into the swamp. Gwen didn't want to be alligator food.

"Got to keep moving." Gwen muttered as she sped forward. Gwen looked over her shoulder at the mutated monster. 3 more explosions of water came outward. "C'mon…" Gwen whispered to herself as she neared the docks.

Gwen finally stopped and leapt onto the docks. Her Omnitrix symbol flashed for a few times. It then meant that Gwen knew for a fact that she couldn't rely on the Omnitrix. Not for a few minutes.

Celerity vanished and Gwen returned. Gwen looked at the watch and sighed.

"Seriously?" Gwen asked herself as she looked over her shoulder. The alligator like monsters flew over her head.

Gwen guessed they were going to tell Animo that she was here. Animo hadn't left many guards in the swamp. Gwen raised an eyebrow as she hummed.

"Ok, time to be a hero." Gwen stated as she leaned on the wooden boards of the rotted boathouse.

Gwen looked at the water before sighing. Animo knew that Gwen would come here. Gwen was also smart enough to know that neither Max nor Ben could easily navigate the swamp.

Animo wanted Gwen to come alone, and in her haste? She did. Her friend and the hostages being in danger overrode any sense of danger Gwen had about this.

"I know your there, child." Animo said as Gwen walked around the side of the rotted boathouse. "It's interesting how much a single human can care for another. I'm sure you agree." Animo added before the wall exploded.

The massive parrot which Animo had used the first time snapped its beak at Gwen. Gwen rolled to the side and turned around. Gwen noticed the hostages Animo had taken sat in neon blue cages. Mason center among them.

"Perhaps your DNA will unlock new possibilities into the world of science." Animo stated from his platform. "It will be a pity you don't live long enough to see it." Animo added while Gwen continued to look at the watch.

It still glowed with the cooldown sequence. The parrot snapped its beak at Gwen.

(In the present)

Gwen hummed and looked at the photo Grandpa Max had taken. It was right after the battle with Animo.

Mason stood in his Necrofriggian form next to Gwen. He was far smaller than he was now, but then again? They were children. Gwen, Ben, and Mason smiled for the camera. Animo hung from one of the cranes in the background.

Gwen was pulled from her trip down memory lane by Danny. He fiddled with his Omnitrix before noticing his mother.

Danny looked at the photo before blinking.

"Did dad hate being mutated?" Danny asked his mother. "He's never talked about it being a bad thing." Danny stated as Gwen bent down to look at her son better.

"Your father doesn't blame me for not saving him in time because I had to stop Animo." Gwen responded while Danny nodded. "I don't know what he's told you. But your father has told me several times he's fine with being mutated." Gwen added to Danny.

Gwen knew neither of her kids were naïve enough to believe everything. They were smart for a pair of 12-year-old.

"Dad was your sidekick for a while, wasn't he?" Danny asked as Gwen smiled.

"Sidekick?" They heard from the top of the stairs where Mason and Jen stood. "We were partners. Do you know how many times your Uncle Ben used to tease us? That was how often mom and I worked together after summer." Mason added as he and Jen walked down the stairs.

"Doofus, do you always have to ask questions?" Jen asked her brother who stuck her tongue out at her. "Besides. Mom and dad probably fought thousands of bad guys. It kinda runs in the family." Jen added with a smirk.

"Jen, no badmouthing your brother." Mason said which got a hum from Jen. "And just because it runs in the family? Doesn't mean you should get cocky. How many times has your mother told you about people like Vilgax or Malware?" Mason asked Jen.
