Another week, another chapter

Recap: Ana went to work the Monday following Kate and Elliot's engagement party to discover a bouquet of white Lillie's on her desk. There was no card with them so she doesn't know who they were from but she did her absolute best to find out, including contacting the florist they came from. Ana met up with Kate after work and told her about the flowers and Kate agrees that it is a weird thing for someone to do but thinks whoever they are from will come forward eventually.

Thank you all for coming back for the third chapter. I am really excited about this story and I'm glad so many of you are reading this story.

Stalked: Chapter 3: Incident 2 (Friday May 13th 2016)

Ana
I have had the worst day ever. I know Friday 13th is unlucky but c'mon, today has been absolutely ridiculous. It all started this morning with Heather Locke. Heather is a romance/drama writer and I read the manuscript she sent over and I couldn't put it down. She is a very talented writer and I knew she would be perfect for SIP and she would do really well.

We had been talking all week and I was hoping to seal the deal with her on Monday when she came in but when I got to work I had three missed calls from her and I got worried, so I called her back as soon as I got in the office and I was right to be worried. She had got another offer from a different publishing house and she decided to go with them instead. I tried everything I could to talk her out of it and go with us instead but she had made up her mind.

Heather Locke was going to be our biggest seller this year, I knew she was, I had so many plans for her and I know she is planning on writing a sequel so next year would have been a good year for us too with her. I had to go to my bosses and explain that we had lost her, they were not happy and even blamed me for it, stating that I hadn't offered her what she deserved or I didn't bond with her like the other publishing house did.

The whole meeting went badly, we tried to talk about the other writers that we are hoping to close deals with but they were not interested because they knew that Heather's book was going to be something amazing.

After the disastrous morning I had, I needed a huge coffee hit to get me through the rest of the day so my lovely assistant Hannah popped out to get the coffee and doughnuts whilst I tried to find someone that could help me put the bosses in a better mood. When Hannah got back I managed to spill my coffee all over my dress!

I wanted to go home and change but I didn't have time as I had another meeting with a potential writer so I had to sit in my office with a cold, wet, coffee smelling dress whilst talking to this lovely young writer, Cameron Jones, a thriller writer. I was so embarrassed but Cameron didn't mention it and I didn't bring it up so I saved face a little bit, not much but a little bit.

He probably thinks that we're really unprofessional here after that and I really wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to work with us after that. If I was a writer and went to a meeting with an editor to find them in a coffee soaked dress, a half eaten doughnut on their desk... oh and to top off that experience for him, my phone kept buzzing with messages from Kate about the dress fitting she had me booked in for after work. Cameron really didn't have a positive experience from us today and I feel really awful about it.

I really thought that my day couldn't get any worse but then I left the office to go home and get ready for the dress fitting when I found that my tyre had gone flat, not just a little flat, it was as flat as a pancake flat. I nearly threw my phone across the street out of anger.

So now I was sitting on the bus going home to get changed to go to this damn dress fitting. I text Kate and told her that I should be on time but because of the car I might be a couple of minutes late but she said it was fine, the store was due to close in half an hour and were staying open especially for her. See what happens when you marry someone with the surname Grey in this town, people will literally do anything for you.

As I couldn't drive to the dress fitting I'm going to have to rush to get changed and then get a cab to the store. Hopefully Kate won't mind dropping me home and I can sort the car and tyre out tomorrow... I can't be dealing with that kind of stress this evening. I've had a bad day and I have a really bad feeling about this dress that Kate chose for me. It looks absolutely beautiful in the picture but everything always does, I'm just hoping that when we get there it still looks good. Although, the dress is a little bit 'daring' for me, it's not something I would have chosen but this is Kate's big day and if this is the dress she wants me to wear then I will wear it.

I could see my stop coming up so rung the bell and waited for the bus to come to a stop, I grabbed all of my belongings, double checking I hadn't left anything on the seat and rushed off the bus and down the street to my apartment. I was actually really happy when I saw my apartment building; I can get this stupid dress off and get changed into something dry and not smelling of coffee.

I looked in the mirror at the dress on me and I have to admit the dress is absolutely beautiful. Kate decided to go for Rose Gold coloured dresses for her bridal party, she loved the colour and had it all through her home and her phone case, her laptop case, her stationary at work and of course her nails. She loved Rose Gold so I wasn't that surprised that was the colour she chose. The dress was a V Neck backless floor length dress. The top of the dress had sequins on it so it will stand out and sparkle at the reception. I really love the dress, again, it's not something I probably would have chosen but I do love it. The V Neck was a lot lower than what I was used to, I was going to have to use a lot of tape to keep my boobs in and up but I'm sure we can make it work.

Kate looked so happy with the dress so I was happy too. She did mention she had found a couple of pairs of shoes that she thinks would look amazing with the dress but she hasn't decided which ones she wants yet, I did offer to help but she said she was on top of it and because of the 2 wedding planners she has, she doesn't get to plan much else.

"Christian will not be able to keep his hands off you" Kate commented, I turned away from the mirror to look at Kate and raised my eyebrows at her "Oh c'mon, I saw the two of you at my engagement party and I saw you leave together" She stated.

"We didn't leave together" I replied "He walked me to the car" I added.

"He actually came over for dinner last night. Elliot and I wanted to talk to him about wedding plans, he seemed very happy that you were my Maid of Honour, in fact he didn't speak about much else" She smiled.

"Kate. I love you but please stop going on about me and Christian. It's not going to happen, we are very different people leading very different lives" I told her.

"He likes you, you like him... just get it over with" She stated.

"Kate" I pleaded.

She sighed and rolled her eyes "Fine, I'll stop" She said "Oh by the way, I asked Elliot to go and change the flat on your car but he was busy so he said Christian offered to get it fixed for you" She added with a coy smile.

"What?" I questioned in surprise.

"Elliot and Christian were trying on tux's and I told Elliot about your car, I told him it would be easier for him to go and fix it so I can drop you off at the car and you have it for work in the morning. He said he had plans after the tux fitting and couldn't. I guess Christian overheard and he offered to go and fix it for you" She explained.

"That's kind of him" I replied "I'm going to get changed out of this dress" I said quickly and rushed back into the changing rooms.

Christian offered to change a tyre? I'm surprised he knows how to change a tyre; he has people working for him doing literally everything for him. I didn't think he knew how to change a tyre if I am completely honest; he's not one for getting his hands dirty. In fact, when we were dancing at the engagement party, I couldn't help but notice how soft his hands were, like really soft, I'm sure Christian has never even done the dishes... but I do appreciate him coming to my rescue.

I changed back into my jeans and sweater before making my way out of the dressing room and found Kate texting on her phone and I'm guessing by her smile, she was talking to Elliot. She noticed my return and put her phone back in her bag.

"Ready?" She asked and I nodded, the shop assistants had disappeared, maybe to put the dress back on a hanger or something "Thank you!" Kate called as we made our way to the door, I heard the two shop assistants call something back but I couldn't quite make out what they were saying "Elliot said that Christian is waiting by your car for you" She said as we made our way to her car.

"I'll have the chance to thank him face to face" I replied.

"Maybe you could take him to Lori's for a thank you drink" Kate suggested as we climbed into her car.

"Stop getting ideas in your head" I told her.

"I'm just saying that a drink would be a nice way to say thank you to him for coming to your rescue" She replied.

"I know you Kate. You're thinking that we will go for a drink, maybe we'll end up drinking just a little bit too much and something will happen between us" Kate rolled her eyes "I've known you for nearly ten years, I know how you work" I added.

"I just want you to be happy" She said and I know she meant it.

"I know and I'm happy as I am right now. I'm not in a rush to find someone and settle down, I'm just getting my career started as an editor and I'm enjoying it" I told her.

She drives me crazy sometimes but she is the kindest person I have ever met and I know she has my best interests at heart, if the roles were reversed then I would probably be the one trying to find someone for her to be happy with. It's a good job I love her because I don't know many other people who would put up with her and I mean that in the nicest way.

Kate's car came to a stop outside SIP and I saw Christian leaning against my car talking to his personal bodyguard and chauffer, Taylor. I leaned over to give Kate a kiss on the cheek and climbed out of the car, she wiggled her eyebrows at me with a huge smile on her face, I rolled my eyes at her walked over to Christian and Taylor as Kate pulled away.

"Hi" I said lamely.

"Ms Steele" Taylor greeted and walked back to the car he and Christian had come in.

"Hi" Christian said.

"Thank you for coming to change the tyre" I said.

"I wanted to talk to you about that, that's why I waited for you to get here. It looks like someone stabbed your tyre, that's why it's flat. Taylor spotted it when he was changing it" I laughed, of course it was Taylor that changed it, I knew Christian wouldn't be the one to do it, "He said there was a large hole in the top of the tyre" He finished.

"Sorry for laughing" I apologised and recovered "Are you sure it was stabbed?" I questioned.

"Taylor said it looked like a screwdriver" He answered "Have you fallen out with anyone?" He asked.

"No, not that I can think of" I replied "It's probably just kids or something" I added.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Well no but I can't see it being someone I know. I don't know anyone that would do that to me and I haven't fallen out with anyone, I haven't met someone new that might have done it... I guess it was just kids being silly" I explained.

"Did you ever find out who your mysterious flower giver was?" He questioned.

"How do you know about that?"

"Kate" He answered... of course, who else?

"They were from one of the writers as a thank you" I lied.

I still didn't know who they were from but I could see Christian's brain working, he was going to suggest that whoever had sent the flowers might have been the one to do this but I really don't think that's the case. It was true, I don't know who would have done something like this but I don't think it's as sinister as Christian thinks it is.

"At least that is one mystery solved" He said but I'm not sure if he believed me or not.

"Anyway, I better get going. It's been a long day and I just want to open a bottle of wine and have a long hot bath" I told him although I'm sure that was a bit too much information "Thank you for coming to change the tyre, I do appreciate it. Thank Taylor as well for me, you two are my knights in shining armour" I told him.

I reached up to place a kiss on Christian's cheek just as he turned his head to do the same to me but instead of his cheek, my lips met his lips in a kiss. We both pulled away quickly, I was in shock and by the look on Christian's face, so was he.

"Christian"

"Anastasia"

I turned away from him and clambered into my car as quickly as possible, I watched as Christian got into his car and Taylor drove away. Oh my God, that was so embarrassing! I'm just glad that Kate wasn't here to witness that.

How nice of Christian to come to Ana's aid in her time of need, well Taylor came to her aid but it was Christian's suggestion. How weird that someone sent her a bunch of flowers anonymously and now someone has stabbed what seems to be a screwdriver into her tyre. I wonder who could be doing all of this and why, we still don't have any clues as to who this could be.

I hope you enjoyed that chapter, it was a little bit longer then the last one. If you want to see Ana's Maid of Honour dress then type into Google Images; Rose Gold V Neck Backless Dress and it is the dress on the third row in the middle. There is a picture of it on a mannequin, a front view and back view.
