Hey everyone! This is the 2nd part of this series. It doesn't exactly related to the first chapter, though. This was also the first part I wrote and was the responsible of the other two ones. Yamato goes after Sora and then you'll have to read to see what happens! I hope you enjoy it and don't forget to leave a review when you finish reading!

Chapter 2: Kimi ni Totte (For You)

He stood by the sidewalk in front of the Flower School. His arm started shaking, so he tightened his grip around the bouquet, but not much. He realized now how naive it was for him to come with flowers to a flower exhibition. He shook his head. Maybe she wouldn't mind.

They weren't exactly on good terms right now. She wasn't very happy that he had bought a motorcycle, as she wanted to start planning their future together and would rather have him spend it on something more important. It's not that she didn't want him to buy one at all; it's just she wanted them to be on the same page about their relationship. Though the sparkle on her eyes showed she loved feeling the wind on her face and messing part of her hair. He was upset and mad because he didn't quite understand her reasons. Until that happened. It took him to lose Gabumon to sit back and reflect about his life. And this is where it led him.

His heart was pounding. This was the first time they were seeing each other. He hasn't felt this nervous ever since they almost… Yamato shook his head, trying to clear his mind and heart. Taking these past few weeks to reflect on everything made him sure she was the love of his life. She had been by his side since they were eleven and he wasn't willing to let her go that easily. Something was holding him back from taking the first step, though. Did she still feel the same as him? Did she realize she couldn't be with him anymore? All these questions formed a lump in his throat and he even contemplated going away. But then he realized this wasn't what Gabumon would want him to do. He hesitantly gave a step forward and things seemed easier then.

As he was making his way inside the building, he went over the whole day so far in his head. He had woken up later than he uses to, which left him with less time to do what he had to. He quickly ate his breakfast and left his building, making his way to a flower shop. When arriving there, he searched for the most perfect sunflowers he could find. She loved sunflowers and how they would always turn to the sun. He spent almost all of his money on the bouquet and he felt bad momentously, but he knew it would be worth just to see her smile.

Then he returned home and sent pictures of the bouquet to Takeru and told him about his plan. His brother loved them and was beyond happy to know he was planning to get back with his girlfriend and even said it was about time he realized it. He added that he would be an idiot if he ever let her go. The two brothers sent each other a few more messages, engaging into a conversation, but soon it was time for him to go along with his plan.

The blonde took a deep breath as he took the elevator to the garage. His black helmet placed between his body and his arm, and the sunflower bouquet in the other one. He put his helmet on and went over the notes on his cellphone to check the address the Flower School was located. He then put his helmet properly and climbed on his fancy motorcycle, driving off as fast as he could, yet very carefully.

He was brought back to reality when he felt something in his pocket. He shook his head as he reached inside it and grabbed his phone. A message from Takeru flashed on the screen and he could barely hold his smile while reading it.

I hope you're not standing outside, deciding whether to go in or not.

He quickly typed a response to his brother. I would be lying if I said I didn't think of leaving, but the fear of losing her forever overcomes any other fear I could possibly have. On my way inside now. Wish me luck!

When he walked into the lobby, he felt all eyes on him. He wondered what could have made everyone stop and look at him. He timidly fixed his hair; maybe it was messy because of the helmet he was using a few moments ago. Or maybe it was the bouquet he was carrying.

There were a lot of exhibition booths in the lobby. He looked around for her, but she was nowhere to be found. He lowered the hand holding the flowers and turned around to leave when something in the corner of his eye caught his attention. He looked to his left and saw her with a lost expression.
"Sora?" He hesitantly said her name as he approached her.
The woman didn't reply nor show any emotion. It was like she had no life.
"What happened?" Yamato tried once again. "You were so happy and focused on this exhibition."
He then looked down at her right hand and saw her digivice was also turned into a stone. So he and Taichi weren't the only ones who had lost the connection with their partners. Guilt filled his body. So she went through the same thing and remained quiet all this time. It's no wonder she had a breakdown. He should have been there for her.
"Come on, let's take a sit." He gently grabbed her by her forearm and led her to a quiet place in the building.

Sora continued to not show any emotion. She just let him take her wherever he was going to. He opened the first door he saw and was happy to find a couch. He carefully sat her down and went to close the door, returning immediately.
"Sora, please talk to me."
She tightened her grip around her digivice, a gesture that didn't go unnoticed by him. He somewhat felt relieved by it and instinctively placed his hand over hers.
"When did this happen? Can you tell me?"
"I…I…"
"It's okay." He wrapped her head with one arm, pulling it against his chest. He softly caressed her hair. "You don't have to talk if you don't want to."
They spent the following moments in silence. Sora could feel his heart beating fast.
"I failed." She finally said.
"What do you mean you failed?" He pulled a little away from her, so he could see her face.
"I fail everything I try to do. I fail as a Destined Child. I fail as a woman. I fail as a girlfriend."
"Hey, hey, hey. Where did it come that from? You didn't fail anything. You're one of the strongest women I know."
The red haired woman smiled a little. "I failed you. I couldn't be there for you when you needed me the most. You had to face it alone. I can't ever forgive myself for that."
"Sor." He softly called her by the nickname only he uses for her. "You made a decision. No one holds it against you. I don't hold it against you. Actually, I'm kind of glad you didn't join the fight. It would be harder to deal with everything knowing you'd be standing along with Takeru and the others."
"Why did it have to happen?" She asked as she finally got to look at him. "Were we bad partners?"
"No, of course not!" He quickly said. "You were great partners. Never believe otherwise."
"Then why did we lose our connection?"
"You choose to grow up, I guess." He made a face while saying this; it wasn't what he wanted to tell her. He stood up.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?" He raised his eyebrow.
"I thought I could have more time with her if we didn't fight. We didn't, and I ended up letting everyone down. Mimi was in the hospital and I haven't checked on her not even once. You were trying to figure out what you wanted to do after college and I was so focused on my own things to help you."
"Don't beat yourself for it, Sor. I'm sure she understands it as well. All your life you did things for other people. I'm glad you decided to do things for yourself for once. I'm so proud of you." He said the last sentence with a warm smile.
Sora lowered her head, but he knew she was smiling too.
"Your smile is so beautiful. I love it."
However, it quickly went away.
"I feel so guilty."
"Please don't. You did what you thought was best for you."
"I miss her so much!" Sora covered her face with her hands and let the tears finally fall from her eyes. "I couldn't protect her. I couldn't do anything."
"Hey." He walked to her and grabbed one of her hands, forcing her to stand up and then embracing her with both of his arms.
Being safe under his protection and once again feeling his chest against her face made tears fall even harder from her eyes and she began to sob against him.
"I didn't want it to be like this. I really wanted her to be here today. She was so excited for this exhibition. Now I probably won't ever see her again!"
Her last words hit him hard and he felt his eyes burning and getting blurry with tears. He let them fall silently, as opposed to her.
"We have to believe we'd see them again."
"I wish I could have your optimism." She blinked a few times as she absorbed what he had said, "Wait, did you just say we have to believe we'd see them again?!"
Yamato shrank his shoulders and looked down. Sora knew fairly well what his body language meant when he did this.
"Yama." She gently called him by his nickname. "Did you lose your connection with Gabumon too?"
He simply nodded briefly, still not being brave enough to face her. The memories from that day still lingering in his mind.
"Oh my God! Why didn't you tell me?"
"You were so focused on doing your own things and trying to find your own path I didn't want to disturb you."
"You shouldn't have gone through this alone."
"That's okay. You're here now." He finally looked at her and gave a small smile.
"When did this happen?"
"About two weeks ago."
"Yamato!" She cried as she held his head with her hands. "This is huge! You two were crazy for each other."
"You and Piyomon were crazy for each other too. I just don't believe it's the end for us."
"I hope you're right. I just wish you hadn't gone through this alone. You were already dealing with so much."
"We all went through it on our own." He said with a lump in his throat. "But this isn't about me. Today is about you."
She pulled away from him and looked at the couch. "What is this?"
"Oh that?" He walked back towards the couch. "Just something I bought for you when I was on my way over."
"Yama, you know this is a flower exhibition, right?"
"Yeah, I do." He said in an embarrassed tone. "I should have realized there would be many flowers here before I bought."
"You should have, yeah. They are beautiful."
"Just like you." He said as he handed her the bouquet. "Sunflowers are still your favorites, right?"
"Yes." She said with a smile as she smelled the flowers. "But you shouldn't have, really. They must have been expensive."
"A little." He slid his hands inside his pockets and tried to act cool. "But it's worth just to see you smiling like that."
Sora felt her cheeks burn and tried to hide behind the bouquet. Yamato let out a smile at her attempt to hide her embarrassment.
"I wasn't expecting to see you here." She turned her back to him to recover. "At least not after our last fight."
"I wasn't going to come, to give you space." He confessed. "But then I lost my connection with Gabumon and it hit me. I did a lot of thinking and realized I just couldn't do it. I had to see you. What I feel about you goes beyond a stupid motorcycle."
"Yamato." Sora had an expression of surprise on her face. The tone of her voice told him she was afraid of where this was going.
"Please listen to me." He pleaded. "I thought about us a lot during these days and I came to the conclusion that I need you, Sor. I know I haven't been the ideal boyfriend lately and I won't blame you if you want to actually break up with me. But I n…"
"Stop it." She cut him off. "Just stop it."
"Sora." He was taken aback with her sudden harshness.
"Why would I ever want to break up with you?" She said. "We were both busy with our own things and a fight is not enough of a reason to break up. We're young adults and perfectly capable of solving things by talking. At least I think so. If anything, I'm more to blame than you. So you should be the one breaking up with me, and not the other way around."
Yamato stared at her for a couple of minutes, absorbing everything she had just said. So both of them gave the other some space, because they were thinking the same thing.
"I don't want to break up with you. In fact, I want the opposite. I may have trouble expressing myself sometimes, but I hope you realize how much you mean to me."
"Yamato." The woman tightened her grip around the flowers a little and stared at him with teary eyes. "I hope you're not saying this in the spur of the moment."
"I'm not." He reassured her. "This is what I truly feel. I realized how much I miss you. How much I need you. You make me want to be a better man. You make me want to be a better person. In all my life, I never thought I would be so lucky to fall in love with my best friend."
"Are you quoting Friends now?" Sora said with a smile. "I like that."
He couldn't help but smile with her. "I know how much you enjoy this show."
"I do. Monica and Chandler are my relationship goal."
"Sor." He walked to her and gently grabbed the bouquet from her hands. He placed them on the couch and then stood in front of her, holding both of her hands. "I'm done running. I want everything with you. I want to wake up everyday and see you on the other side of the bed. I would admire you when you're sleeping and tell you every single day how beautiful you are and how grateful and happy you make me. And then the little ones would wake us up by climbing on our bed. I would be desperately to come back home to my beautiful family after a long mission on space."
There were two cascades of tears falling from the red haired woman's eyes now and Yamato himself felt his own cerulean eyes water up.
"You really picture all of this for us?"
"I do. This is something I want for about 5 years from now. Though I fear I become my parents."
"You're a different person. You have the chance to make it different, and I'm sure you will. You will be a great father, I have no doubt about it."
"I'll try my hardest to be the best one they could ever have. I'll also try my hardest to be the best husband I can to you. That is, if you give the honor of being your husband and father of your children."
"Do you even have to ask?" The tears were replaced by a sparkle in her cinnamon eyes. "Of course I do. And children?"
"Two. Maybe three. A boy and two girls, but I don't mind it really. I want a house full of children running around and driving us crazy."
"I like this. Being an only child isn't nice most of the time. And you mean driving me crazy, right? You'd be away for quite some time."
"I love you."
The three words. The three words that Sora was longing to hear again after such a long time. It still took her by surprise that he just spilled them out like that. She looked at him with a mix of emotions on her face.
"What?"
"I love you." He repeated with a smile. "I know it's been a long time since I last said it, but they are powerful words to be said."
The woman bit her lower lip and looked away. The blonde immediately began to regret his choice of words.
"That wasn't meant to come out that way. I'm sorry." He apologized. "But I do. I love you."
There was a tense moment in the room as they stared at each other. A soft smile appeared on her lips and Yamato relaxed his muscles and realized he was holding his breath.
"I love you too. Always have and always will."
He ran his hands through her arms as she stared at him with adoration. One of his hands moved to her chin as the other slipped to her back, bringing her close to his body one more time. Their lips met in a sweet and passionate kiss. The reconciliation kiss."Come on." He wrapped his arm around her after they pulled away. "Someone has a flower exhibition to attend to."
