Summary/disclaimer: time for another chapter of Future Endeavor Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Ben Ten, Cartoon Network and a few others do.
(Earth, Bellwood, current day)
"I can't believe this…" Jen muttered to herself as she turned to look at Danny. "Mom and dad don't think we can help? We're Tennysons, this is in our blood!" Jen hissed which caused Danny to turn to look to the side.
"You know we don't have enough experience." Danny pointed out which caused Jen to sigh and look at her sibling. "What if it's Zs'Skayr? Animo? VILGAX?" Danny questioned to which Jen held up a glowing hand.
Danny rolled his eyes at the mana bolt which Jen held aloft in her hand. Jen was hot headed; she was determined like him… But that could also lead to them getting into trouble that could lead to them getting in over their heads.
"You wanted to be like Aunt Lucy and dad since you were 8." Jen pointed out and crossed her arms once more. "And I've been trying to be a superhero like mom and dad since we were 7. We have superpowers, we're family, that's what family does." Jen pointed out and was greeted by a hum.
Ben looked at his cousins. They felt more like his niece and nephew when it came down to it. They reminded him a lot of his cousin.
"You know being a Plumber isn't all about fighting bad guys." Ben said as he turned the corner. "You two remind me a lot of how her and me used to bicker." Ben said as Jen stuck out her tongue at him.
"She also happens to be the number one superhero." Jen responded with a confident smirk. "And her husband is number 2…. Hey, Uncle Ben?" Jen questioned which caused Ben to raise an eyebrow.
"Yeah?" Ben asked from the driver's seat as he continued driving.
"You never told us what it was like fighting the Highbreed." Jen pointed out which caused Danny to turn to his sibling.
"Why do you think Uncle Ben fought the Highbreed head on?" Danny asked and crossed his arms. "The Highbreed aren't enemies anymore anyway. We shouldn't act like they are." Danny pointed out which caused Jen to shake her head.
She turned across the car and raised her hand. The soda cup next to Ben was wrapped in magenta light.
Ben smirked and lowered the soda back into the cupholder. He chuckled before slowing down at the stoplight.
"You're getting better at the magic stuff." Ben put in as he turned to look over at Jen. "Auntie Verdona would be proud. Why are you both bickering about your mom and dad, though?" Ben asked with a raised eyebrow.
Jen lowered her hand, being curious about what her parents were doing at the moment which caused her to raise an eyebrow.
"Jen is upset they didn't want us to go with them." Danny put in as he turned to look at Jen. "You know dad offered us ice cream if we behave." Danny said which made Jen hum.
"Ice cream? Your dad's going soft." Ben said before chuckling at the accidental joke.
"That was worse than one of Danny's pranks." Jen said with a giggle which caused Danny to stick his tongue out. "It's true, you STINK at jokes. I had to teach you how woopie cushions worked when we got one." Jen said which caused Ben to hum.
The two Tennysons looked at their cousin and leaned back in their chairs. Jenny began reading from one of the comic books left in the backseat.
"So, did you want me to tell you of how Gwen took down the Highbreed?" Ben asked from the front of the car. "She seriously didn't tell you about that? I thought she'd still tell you about how she led us into battle or something. Seriously, nothing?" Ben asked which got Mason and Gwen to share a look.
Gwen could only bring a hand up to her face, her cousin acted more like a younger brother then an actual cousin. She was always glad to see her cousin… But she would be lying to herself if she didn't kick herself at times for her cousin corrupting her children.
"Maybe because Ben didn't do anything to actually stop them back there." Gwen said with a smirk which caused Mason to hold up his hands.
"I don't want any part of this with all due respect." Mason said and brushed off his wings. "Oy… This is going to be a long day. Let's just hopefully get through today without someone cutting the other's throat?" Mason asked and looked between both of them at the moment.
He knew the duo was going to have a fight sooner or later. They were cousins, it didn't take a genius to figure out that. Mason could only hope that they got through today before having a meltdown like this when it came down to it.
Then again? knowing them? They wouldn't even get to that.
