Summary/disclaimer: time for another chapter of Future Endeavor Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Ben Ten, Cartoon Network and a few others do.
(Earth, Bellwood, current day)
Ben watched as his cousin and her family left. He'd have to tell Grandpa Max about what was going on. He was happy to see his first cousins, but he knew they had plenty of reason to need to talk things out.
(With Gwen)
Gwen looked at Jen and Danny. Her daughter pouted, looking more disappointed then mad. Jen was many things, an Anodite, a book reader, a girl desiring to be a hero, a student at Ben's old school.
"Jen." Gwen said, pausing to look at Mason who was busy driving them home. "I know your upset…. When I was your age? I wanted to fight everyone I could to save everyone around me." Gwen added, causing the girl to look up at her.
"Then why won't you let us help?" Jen asked, leaning forward in her seat. "Danny and me always hear about how great you guys are as superheroes. We have superpowers too, dad gave us Necrofriggian powers, remember?" Jen questioned as Gwen turned to Mason.
Mason gave her a look that told her to PLEASE leave him out of this. He loved his family, but he knew quite well this talk was between his wife and their daughter.
"Your father and I are superheroes, yes." Gwen said before rubbing at her temples. "But we also STILL needed to be heroes for years to get good enough. Jen, what would you do if Zs'Skayr showed up?" Gwen questioned, watching Jen pout.
"I'd still want to fight him with you guys." Jen said, shaking her head back and forth. "You told dad once he's powerless against mana because it's full of life energy." Jen added, causing her parents to share a look.
"She's very smart like you, ain't she?" Mason questioned before they stopped at an intersection. "Jen? Your mother loves you; I love you, and EVERYONE in your family loves you." Mason stated before Jen hummed.
"Please don't do the family talk." Jen responded, looking at the ground of the car. "It's so cheesy." Jen said, her frown slowly giving way to a smile.
"Then remember what else mom and I said." Mason said, pausing to look up at the stoplight. "You can't win every fight you're in… But since you did so well fighting robot Vilgax? How about we stop at Snow place like home?" Mason questioned with a smirk tugging at his lips.
Gwen watched both of their children start cheering and laughing as if they were 10 years older. She turned to Mason while he made the turn.
"Why is your solution always bribe them with ice cream?" Gwen whispered to which Mason hummed.
"Their 12, dear." Mason responded as he paused to check the mirror. "We both know they want to help." Mason stated and started to pull into the parking lot.
Before he had even pulled the key out? Jen and Danny were already moving towards the front door, eager for the ice cream they had been given.
"As I was saying?" Mason questioned and turned to Gwen. "We both want them to help. I'm happy they want to be heroes like us, but not if it means they get hurt. You know I want them to grow up, go to school, have the choice to be unlike us." Mason added while pushing the door of the car open.
"Jen always brings it up, though." Gwen stated while Mason walked around to open her door. "And you still always resort to ice cream or toys." Gwen put in to which Mason shrugged.
"Their kids, dear." Mason responded while he opened her door and helped his wife out. "You want to try and debate heroics with kids? I know how the talk would have gone… And now they're have something on their minds BESIDES the trip." Mason added with amusement as they walked towards the door.
"We're limiting them on ice cream." Gwen added, a small smirk pulling at her lips as well.
Mason shrugged and simply walked inside with his wife. Gwen was aware of WHY Mason had brought the kids for a treat, he tended to only really save these visits for special occasions. Both knew what would happen if it became a weekly thing.
"What do you think is going to happen in space?" Mason asked Gwen to which she shrugged. "I think we should talk to Rook before we leave. He'd have more info than we do, he is Grand Magister after all." Mason added, causing Gwen to hum.
"When did you become the strategic one?" Gwen questioned her husband, jabbing a finger into her husband's chest with a smirk.
"Same time you became supermom." Mason responded with a chuckle as the duo stood in behind their kids.
Mason hoped Jen understood what Gwen wanted for her. He'd rather NOT have his daughter constantly wanting to be in danger.
