Your Debt

Molly was sitting in front of the fire, tears streaming down her face. She had just had to bury her son, and knew she would never see him again. She loved her family more than anything else and it had devastated her to see his body.

Then the strangest thing happened. The ghost of a snowy owl flew through the wall (not breaking or damaging it, just floating through it) and dropped a letter into Molly's lap before flying up into the sky above, so high that soon Molly completely lost sight of it. The letter wasn't a ghost though. Molly wasn't sure if inanimate objects could even have ghosts. Now that she thought about it, the owl-ghost had resembled Hedwig.

Molly tore open the envelope. Inside there was a letter. In neat cursive it said:

Dear Molly,

When my Harry had no ne to turn to, you cared for him as a mother would. I can't thank you enough.

So, in an attempt to pay back your debt, I am caring for your Fred as a mother would.

Love, Lily

Molly closed the letter.

And for the first time since the Battle, she smiled.

"Thank you, Lily." she whispered to the sky.
