"Y/N," Loki found you making peppermint tea in the kitchen. "Take this off of me."
Loki pushed his wrist into your face and you got a better look of the watch. It was made entirely out of metal and seemed to have scratch marks on it. You pulled on the wrist band and noticed it was able to move without irritating the skin but couldn't be pulled off. Stark technology was truly. . .
"Impressive," you spoke softly, moving the watch around the wrist, looking at all the details. "I keep forgetting to talk to Tony about this."
"Well," Loki took a cookie from the tin you had open with his free hand and took a bite. "You can ask him about it after you take this off of me."
"Can't do that," you let go of his wrist and returned to making your tea.
"Why not," Loki began fiddling with the watch again. "It's not even my style."
"I don't know how to take it off," you shrugged. "Besides, do you really think Tony is just going to tell me, or anyone else, how to take it off?"
"You're right," Loki sighed, leaning against the counter. "That narcissist would wait to see you beg. . . So go beg."
"He's an inventor who has made millions with his products," you corrected Loki. "He's not just going to spill industry secrets."
An alarm sounded and Jarvis came over the speakers. "All available Avengers report to the conference room."
You ignored it and took the mesh infuser out of the tea pot. It wouldn't be the first time you were left out of a mission.
"That includes you Reindeer Games and Swayze," Tony's voice sounded over the alarm and you look at Loki in confusion.
"I didn't do anything," Loki took another cookie and headed out of the kitchen.
You hurried to the conference room where you saw the rest of the Avengers standing around a map of Cairo, Egypt and you remembered spending time there during the Ottoman empire."
"Okay, kids," Tony brought up a live feed where a U.S. official was being held hostage by opposing forces. Tony debriefed the group on the strategy to infiltrate and get the official out of the building before the military start a firefight.
"I don't have a costume," you interjected.
"I'm fine as long as you take this off," Loki lifted his wrist again.
"Well, Merry Christmas you two," Tony pressed a few buttons and 3D images of two suits appeared to them. "Capsicle and Double Agent will show you."
You and Loki followed Natasha and Steve to a pair of locker rooms near the aircraft garage and you and Natasha went into one of rooms and Loki and Steve went into another. You walked in to see several lockers against the wall and Natasha went to a locker with her name on it and began changing. You were able to find the locker with your name on it and opened it to find an Asgardian inspired suit that looked like a combination of Loki and Thor's outfits.
"Tony doesn't have a good sense of style, does he," you took out the cape and you grimaced as you dropped it. Were the two princes his only reference for Asgard fashion? For a moment, you thought your parents had a better fashion sense than Tony.
"It doesn't have to look pretty," Natasha pulled her jacket out of the locker and began dressing.
"How much time we got?" You started out the door.
"Take off in twenty," Natasha called after you and you ran to the stairs.
It was faster running up the stairs than waiting for the elevator and you made it all the way to your room in roughly seven minutes. You pulled a large luggage case from under your bed and opened it to reveal a black Kevlar jacket with cargo pants you got custom made with the knee and elbow pads sewn into the fabric. You threw off the blue blouse and jeans you were wearing and put on a sports bra and black t-shirt. It took you ten minutes to get fully dressed as you tied off the steel toes combat shoes and stood to leave. You took out the two swords you had made during your time with the Scandinavian Norse Vikings, sliding them into their sheaths strapped to your back. You grabbed your leather gloves with knuckle protectors and made your way out of the room. It took you less time to race down the stairs to the locker room just as Natasha came out to greet you.
"Damn," Natasha tossed you a 9 mm pistol which you secured on your side holster on your thigh and handed you a large dagger that you secured to to your hip. "Looking good."
"It's comfortable too," you took out a pair of wayfarer sunglasses out of one of the cargo pants pockets and fixed it on your face.
You heard a whistle behind you and turned to see Loki coming out with Steve wearing an outfit similar to his original Asgardian armor. Your face heated up as you couldn't help but admire how he looked.
"You make that outfit look good," Loki flirted, eyeing you up and down. "Is there a reason I don't get a weapon?"
"You're not participating," Steve, wearing a leather jacket and had his shield in a large circular case, pushed Loki towards the aircraft garage, you fell back fiddling with your gloves as you tried to calm down.
"Where's Thor," you asked, entering the garage and began walking to a plane in the back of the runway.
"If we need him, we'll call him," Steve moved his "cymbal" case over his shoulder.
"What are you wearing," Tony called to you from the back of the plane, a hint of annoyance on his face.
"I'm not wearing that costume," you shrugged and climbed into the plane after Loki.
"Did you at least get the earpiece," Tony sighed and Natasha handed you a small device that you put into your ear. "Let's go."
Within minutes you were in the sky, making your way to Cairo, and you spent most of the time listening to Tony give the plan.
"Reindeer Games is to stick by Legolas and not cause trouble," Tony continued, referring to Clint.
"I won't have a more active role to play," Loki asked, not looking up from the book he was reading. When did he sneak a book on the plane?
"Because Legolas here-," Tony took the book from Loki. "-is going to be on watching from a vantage point and make sure there are no snipers."
"What about Y/N?" Loki gesturing to you.
"Gonna be with Double Agent," Tony said and stared at you for a moment. "Can't you do something about. . " Tony gestured behind his shoulder and it took you a second to realize what he was talking about.
"Oh, yeah." You gathered your energy and used it to glamour the swords on your back as well as the dagger and gun on your hip ang thigh. You watched the gun and dagger disappear along with their holster and sheath. You still felt the weight of your weapons since they only looked like they disappeared and turned your head to try and see if they were gone.
"That works," Tony blinked at you for a moment before continuing the plan.
Night fell as you arrived in front of the building where the U.S. official was being held hostage. The military arrived before you to keep an eye on the situation in case they had to storm the building. You watched the guards walked past windows with Natasha as you devised a way into the building without being caught.
"Post changes every hour at the back door," Clint's voice came over the radio. "Guard's should be changing in fifteen minutes."
"Do we know more about the interior," you asked, focusing on keep your glamour covering your weapons.
"Counted at least ten inside," Clint answered. "Waiting on Tony's to finish the sky surveillance."
"On the way, folks," Tony spoke over the radio and a second later you heard a notification from your phone. "Remind me to update your tech, Swayze."
"I can't help I'm old school," you retorted, pulling out the smart phone you had for ten years to watch the live feed of the thermal camera. The phrase "If it ain't broke don't fix it" came to mind. You nodded to Natasha and headed to the back door of the building and waited for the shift change.
After waiting a few minutes, you heard the door open and two people talking before some shuffling and the door closing again. You used a long mirror from one of the pockets of your pants to check around the corner and saw one person on guard duty now. You turned to Natasha and held a finger up and you expanded the glamour to enclose around you. You stepped carefully towards the guard, making sure to not make any noise. Wearing combat boots on gravel made it difficult, but thankfully you were able to make as little noise as possible. You walked to the other side of the guard and let the glamour retreat back to cover the weapons.
"Hello there," you spoke, making the guard turn to you. Before he could get a finger on the trigger, you disarmed him and Natasha came up behind and put him in a chokehold. She held the guard for a few moments until you watched his eyes flutter shut and you helped her move the body away.
"I could have just turned into the guard, you know," Loki's voice came over the radio. "All you got to do is remove-"
"That's enough from the peanut gallery," Tony's voice interrupt Loki. "You got 55 minutes until the next guard shift."
You carefully opened the door and used the mirror to check the hallway for any other guards. Thankfully, there was no one else and you and Natasha went inside. You pulled out your smartphone and saw yourself and Natasha on the thermal cam feed and five guards on the ground floor and twenty on the floors above you. The building was only three stories so you had to make sure you were quiet.
"Can't you turn into the guard," Natasha whispered as you make your way to the staircase.
"Nope," you whispered back. "I was barely able to pick up glamoring things to look like they disappeared and that was only because a certain trickster wanted to play pranks on Thor."
"When did I ask you to do that," Loki asked and you realized everyone could still hear you. "I don't remember."
"Not the time," you whispered and calmed your breathing before you lost control over your glamour. Loki still didn't remember the past he shared with you and you didn't know if there was ever a perfect time to spring that kind of information on him.
"When di-ow!" Loki's voice cut out from the radio and you gave yourself a mental reminder to thank Clint.
You were able to climb the stairs past the second floor without being seen by the ten men on the floor and made your way to the third.
"Thirty minutes," Tony reminded you and Natasha over the radio.
You made it to the third floor and checked the smartphone to see that a guard went to the ground floor and was walking to the the back door. You saw a new figure appearing in the alleyway and waited until the guard walked out and knocked him to the ground and dragged him away.
"Nice job, Cap," Natasha whispered and the two of you began making your way to the office where the U.S. official was being kept.
Because these guards were two floors from the ground, they had their guards down. The irony was not lost on you as you snuck past the room where the majority grouped together playing cards. You noticed one had a pair of sevens but was raising the pot. The problem came with you peered down the hall and saw two guards guarding the door. There was nowhere to hide and they were not showing signs of weakness that you could exploit.
You turned to Natasha and offered her your hand. After a second, she took your hand and you expanded your glamour around yourself and her. The two of you walked hand-in-hand and walked towards the guards.
"What are you two doing?" Tony's voice came over the radio and you realized that the thermal could still pick you up.
You ignored Tony and walked directly in front of the guards. You squeezed Natasha's hand and waited for her to squeeze yours. Once she did, you tapped your hand twice with your finger, waited for a second, and tapped her hand again. She let go of your hand and glamour dropped around her, shocking the guards.
"Hello there," Natasha spoke and punched the guard in front of her in the face, knocking him out. You dropped your glamour around you and disarmed the guard still standing. Natasha knocked out the second guard that same way and waited a moment to make sure no one heard.
The only thing you could hear was the jeering and laughing coming from the other room. The pair of sevens lost big time.
"Well," Tony spoke over the radio again. "You got two more guards on the other side of the door and one with the official."
"What time," you asked, pressing the butt of the AK-47 you picked from the guard against your shoulder.
"2:33 AM," Tony's voice spoke confused. "You got 20 minutes left."
"1215, 0310, and 1156," Natasha spoke, you glanced and saw her looking at her own screen.
"Better warn the boys outside, Cap," you gave a quick warning and fired three times into the office.
You opened the door as shuffling and yelling could be heard from the other room and had to push one of the guards that had fallen behind the door. You saw a gun against the official's head a swore under your breath. "I'm getting rusty."
Natasha pulled her pistol from it's holster and aimed it at the man holding the gun. "It's over."
"For you," the man smiled as a swarm of men entered around you and surrounded you.
"Almost there," you heard Clint's labored breathing and you and Natasha slowly placed your weapons on the ground.
"Right thigh," Natasha asked and you gave a quick nod and the two of you lifted your hands above your heads.
You felt the cold metal of the pommel of your swords and moved them into your palms, making sure you still looked like you had your hands up. Natasha's hip brushed against your right thigh as you kneeled, she was making sure the gun was still in it's holster.
"One more minute," Clint's voice radioed.
"You got thirty seconds," Steve's voice came. "General ain't going to wait any longer."
"Any last words," the man asked, his English was thick with an Arabic accent.
"Now or never," you said, wrapping your hands around the grip of your swords.
An arrow pierced the man's hand and you felt the gun leave it's holster on your thigh. You pulled the swords from their sheaths the leaped at guards in front of you. The men were thrown off for a few seconds and that was enough time for you and Natasha to down three each before the remaining four snapped back to reality. Natasha jumped behind you, tackling the official to the ground as the men opened fire. Since your glamour had dropped completely, it allowed you to focus on your next movements. Centuries of training and breathing exercises allowed your mind to slow the scene in front of you as if everything was in slow motion. You moved in the all familiar drills as your swords intercepted the bullets, ricocheting some of them and returning them to their senders. What felt like a minute to you was only a few seconds in reality and time sped back up as the men fell to the ground.
"We're going to need a taxi," you picked up the U.S. official and threw him out the now broken window. A flash a red and blue past by and took the official away.
You heard a firefight downstairs and looked out the window to see the military storming the building. You returned your blades to their sheaths and held a hand out to Natasha. Natasha took your hand and you glamoured the two of you and jumped out of the window to the ground outside. You landed behind the line of soldiers so you were able to sneak away without being seen.
You dropped your glamour as you saw Steve, his shield still in it's case. You saw him flinch a moment before recognizing the two of you and you started walking away from the scene to meet up with the others.
