You sat watching Loki process everything. He had let go of your hand at some point and was now swirling the wine in his glass. You were glad there was some alcohol, since it was like Asgardian catnip.
"Sorry for the wait," Anat, the waitress, came up with the food Loki ordered for you and him.
"No worries," you gave a small smile, letting her place the plates in front of you. The food looked good, but you had no appetite.
"Would you like another glass," Anat asked, gesturing to your empty wine glass.
"Can you actually bring the bottle," you asked, Loki not paying attention to the conversation.
"Of course," Anat smiled and turned to Loki before leaving the table, she paused for a moment too long for your liking. Anat came back a moment later with a wine bottle in a bucket with ice and set in a stand next your table. "Let me know if there is anything else I can get you."
Anat left, after another long pause, and Loki quickly downed the wine in his glass and took the bottle and filled his glass. He looked to be lost in thought, as if he was searching for something missing and was becoming outrage that he couldn't find it.
After emptying his wineglass again, he finally spoke.
"I was the only one who forgot, right?"
"Yes."
"Why didn't Thor tell me," Loki growled. "Why did Mother not say anything?"
"My guess is that your father ordered them not to," you suggested. "Thor told me your mother tried to bring back your memories. . ."
"But she failed," Loki finished, pouring himself another glass.
"Would it have helped if people told you about. . . the guard that failed in their duty to protect and was exiled." You kept as much of your relationship out of you retelling of events best you could. You didn't want to give him the expectation that you wanted a relationship if he did not feel the same.
"But you weren't a guard," Loki looked up from his glass to you, his eyes begging for answers. "Were you?"
Averting your eyes, you decided it was best to leave and waved down Anat and asked for the bill. Loki pulled out your wallet and handed it to you, frustrated that you ignored his question, and refilled his wineglass. Anat came back a moment after.
"Would you like some doggy bags," she handed Loki the bill and when he didn't take it, handed it to you.
"No," you smiled, pulling out Stark's card and handed it to her with the bill. "But you and. . . Sara -was it?- can have them if you would like."
"I'll be back with your receipt." Anat walked away and you watched her go to the hostess, Sara, and spoke with her while gesturing to your table. The two seemed to be every concerned with what was happening between you and Loki. They were a thousand years to young to understand and a thousand years too young to try.
"Why didn't you tell me when we met," Loki asked, he was staring at his wineglass instead of you.
"What would have happened if I did," you sighed. "Would you have believed me?"
"I-" Loki paused for a moment and took a sip of his wine.
"I didn't know you had forgotten everything at first," you continued. "But I didn't know if you still. . ."
"Still what," Loki turned to you.
"I found out you had forgotten everything from Thor," you ignored Loki's question again, his eyes searing into you. "I just decided it would be best to play the part of your guard than burden you with information that you might have rejected."
"That wasn't for you to decide," Loki hissed, gulping down his wine again and filling it back up.
"It actually was," you began, your own frustration leaking out. "What if I didn't want to know. ."
"Didn't want to know what?" Loki almost growled, gulping down the wine and refilling it and drinking that down.
Anat came back to the table and gave you the card. You put in your wallet and as you stuffed the wallet into your clutch, you saw Anat hand Loki the receipt.
"It was a joy to you meet you," she spoke softly, leaning down towards Loki. She whispered into his ear and stood up to walk away. If you had been a mortal you wouldn't have heard, but you did.
"Sara and I would love to see you again."
Loki looked at the receipt and pushed it into his pocket, a sprig of violence ebbing the back of your mind. Loki down his final glance and stood up to leave. You followed him as you walked out the restaurant, noticing Sara waving to him with a wink. You ignored the itch to reach into your clutch and fell into step behind Loki as the two of you walked down the street. Neither you or Loki said anything as you past both natives and tourists, many of them catcalling you in their native language. You were already angry that two girls would flirt at Loki in front of you, let alone that fact Loki wasn't speaking to you.
"Hey baby!" a man across the street called to you. "Wanna fuck?!"
You began to turn to show him some American hospitality, but Loki pulled your hand into an alley. You stumbled on your heels and almost fell. Loki caught you by the arm and stood you up and pushed you against the wall.
"Lo-" you started but was interrupted when he forced his lips against yours. You could taste the wine off his lips and started to feel lightheaded, which you blamed on the alcohol. His tongue flicked against your lips demanding entry and you did little to resist. His tongue darted into your mouth, tangling itself with yours, sending electricity down your spine. His hand moved from your arm to the nape of your neck while the other moved in the opposite direction to cup your rear. Warmth pooled in your abdomen as a soft moan escaped your lips and Loki shivering in response. He pressed his entire weight against you, pushing you against the cold stone wall, and you could feel something firm between your legs. Your hands gripped the fabric on his chest, wishing that his shirt wasn't there. Loki squeeze your rear, pushing your pelvis against his and a moaned escaped both of your lips.
"Would you look what we have here," you could hear two men slurring their English as they walked to where you were. "They on their honeymoon or something?"
Loki pulled his lips away from you and let out a deep sigh. "Can I help you?"
"Sure," one of the men walked up and a pulled out a switchblade. You would have laughed that at the stereotypical scene if you weren't already pissed at being interrupted.
"Give us everything you got," the second pulled out his own and opened his hand out to you.
"Who do you think you are talking you," Loki growled pulling away from you. You shivered at the cold that filled his place.
"I think I'm talking to two tourists who are about to be broke," one of the men spoke.
Loki took off his jacket and put it around your shoulders. "Love, hand me your bag."
"Let the lady do it," the man stepped closer to Loki, his dagger waving in the light.
Loki didn't move, but let you pick up your clutch from the ground where you dropped it and open it.
"Good girl," one of the man smiled, stepping closer to you.
"I'm not that good," you responded, pulling the pistol out of the clutch and pointing it at the two.
The men stopped in their tracks and immediately put their hands up, dropping the blades.
"Look," one of voices started to shake. "How about you put the gun down and we'll leave."
"You can start walking now," Loki suggested and the two took the hint and turned tail and ran away.
You sighed in slight disappointment before returning the gun to the clutch, making sure the safety was still on.
"Have you had enough time," you asked, walking out of the alley onto the public street.
"Some," Loki answered, following you. "But I think I got the answer to my question."
"Which question," you asked, slightly confused.
"You didn't know if I still loved you," Loki answered, you froze in your steps. Loki took a couple steps forward before stopping and turning to you. "Isn't that why you acted the way you did?"
"How did. . ." Loki offered his hand to you and you took it while you kept walking.
"I figured you had a thing for me," Loki brought you hand up and brushed his lips across your knuckles. "Though I just figured it was infatuation with the crown.
"I thought you were just fucking with me," admitted, blushing slightly.
"Interesting choice of words," Loki hummed against your knuckles and heated pooled in your abdomen again.
"At first I was teasing you," Loki admitted after a moment. "It's so easy to make you blush, so I found that I enjoyed seeing it. After awhile though, I began to notice more."
"Like what?"
"Certain looks you would give me," Loki began. "You always seemed to look like you were missing someone when you looked at me. And when you zone out, you looked almost happy."
"Because I was thinking of you," you muttered and Loki's grip tightened as you the hotel came into view. Loki was silent as the doorman held the door open and you walked inside.
"But there were other things too," Loki continued, guiding you to the elevators. "When you would talk about your interests, you seemed to shine so bright. Watching you train was like traveling through the Bifrost. Just watching you be you was enough for me. . ."
Loki fell silent as he called for the elevator, his brows furrowed in thought.
"Are you still upset that I didn't tell you," you asked, and Loki kept silent as the elevator doors opened and you stepped inside.
"Some," Loki confessed. "But more I wish Father, Mother, or even Brother told me. Help me remember."
"What would you do if they did tell you," you asked, the elevator doors closing. "Would you run away to Midgard to find me?"
"Maybe," Loki sighed, you both knowing that was a pipedream. Odin would never allow it, and would have you killed before Loki could think or abandoning Asgard.
"At least we found each other now," you squeezed Loki's hand, leaning against his shoulder.
"We did," Loki kissed the top of your head and you both remained quiet as the elevator doors opened to your floor.
Loki escorted you to your room and gave you a kiss on the cheek and you returned his suit jacket. The room was empty and you remembered that Natasha was in Steve's room for the night. You figured Natasha would come back seeing Loki and started to remove your dress and placed it back in the dress bag. You placed the heels back in their bag and wrapped the hotel's robe around your body. A knock sounded at the door and you went to answer it.
"Missed me," Loki was at the door, his shirt in the beginnings of undress.
"Very much," you widened the door for Loki to step inside. He took you in his arms, pushing the door shut with his back and began kissing you.
