A/N: This fanfiction takes place after Gang of Secrets and before Optigami. Other than that, the time is up to your interpretation! It is also an AU.
Something unthinkable was happening. Alya Cesaire had opened a bright pink box filled with ribbons, and pressed a few select ones down in a precise order. The second the final ribbon had been pushed, the box opened further and revealed a red oval box with black polka dots. The Miracle Box.
Brown hands reached for the box, and pulled it close to the chest of their owner. A pleasant shiver went down Alya's spine when she touched the box, and a tingle alighted on her finger tips. Waves of power rushed over the girl, and she could not resist a small smile.
"Alya, what are you doing?" asked a voice that came from a floating orange creature with fox ears.
Alya's hazel eyes met the disappointed purple eyes of the creature, a kwami by the name of Trixx. The human took a deep breath.
More creatures gathered around, and Sass, the blue snakelike kwami, ordered, "Put down the box, Alya. You need the guardian's permission to take a miraculous!"
However, Alya refused to listen. She was far too set on her goal. Even with her persistence, Alya's hands trembled as she placed an orange fox-tail pendant around her neck.
"Alya!" gasped the orange kwami frantically. "Don't-"
"Trixx, let's pounce," whispered Alya.
Where a reddish-brown haired girl and a fox kwami stood before, a fox themed woman appeared. Her hazel eyes were determined, yet cold. No one could stand in her way!
To the kwami's chagrin, they were all sucked into the box. Loud protests erupted from their lips, and every single one fell on deaf ears.
Once every kwami was locked away, the miraculous wielder leapt up onto the Dupain-Cheng bakery balcony and started to bound across the roofs of several Paris buildings.
People stared and gawked. Rena continued on, and did not give the passersby a single thought. She had no time to deal with these people!
Then, she was struck from behind by a blue-haired girl.
"Give me back my box, Rena Rouge- or should I say, Alya?" called out the voice of Marinette. The girl was furious as her 'friend'.
Rena Rouge uttered one word, "Never."
"It belongs to me, Alya," called out the bluebell eyed girl with fierce determination.
Still, Rena refused to let go of the box. She held it tight, between her knees, rather than in her hands. She then put her orange flute to her lips, and played a few sweet notes.
Then, Rena bellowed, "Mirage!"
Hundreds of Rena Rouge clones appeared, prepared to fight! Only one carrot-colored fox did not seem to want a brawl. She snuck behind the others, and fled.
Marinette leaped for the fleeing form, thinking that it had to be Rena Rouge. After all, it made the most sense. However, seconds before Marinette's weapon tapped the figure, it disappeared. Alya certainly was a sly little fox.
"It doesn't matter if you keep the box, Alya!" screeched Marinette in desperation. "I've already won!"
"You will never win, Princess Justice," whispered Rena Rouge, who had snuck underneath a car.
Silent tears filled her eyes.
There was only one option left.
Rena pulled another miraculous out of the box. It was a rather unassuming pink and white friendship bracelet, which came with the adorable pink pig kwami.
"Daizzi, Trixx" murmured Rena, "Unify!"
Instead of being orange and white, the hero was red and pink. Her mask contained a snout, and pig ears appeared next to her fox ones. The signature Rena Rouge ponytail had split into pigtails.
The new heroine raced out from under the car, and leaped high into the air. She slammed herself onto the back of the dress-wearing Princess Justice, who had just finished fighting off her illusions.
Princess Justice threw the miraculous wielder away, but she was quick to react by slamming her flute into the back of Princess Justice's knees.
"What are you doing, Rena Rouge?" gasped Princess Justice in pain. "You know, we could team up! You have always been my best fri-"
"I'm not friends with Princess Justice, I'm friends with Marinette!" hollered the brown girl. "And I am Renarde Rose!"
Princess Justice was pinned to the ground by Renarde.
"Marinette, you have to listen to me! Hawk Moth isn't helping you, he's using you!" Renarde Rose stated, practically begging for her friend to listen. "You have to fight it. I know you can! You are amazing, Marinette. You're creative, you're kind, and you'd do anything to help just about anyone. Don't let Hawk Moth take that away from you!"
Something surfaced deep in Princess Justice's eyes. The villain's eyes were darker than Marinette's, but as Renarde spoke, they lightened. Hawk Moth's glowing purple mask appeared over Princess Justice's face, which started to scrunch up in pain.
Suddenly, a bubbling purple and black substance covered Princess Justice. As it faded, Marinette appeared and an innocent white butterfly fluttered away.
The two girls stared into each other's eyes for a moment before Renarde leaned down and hugged her friend as a few surrounding civilians cheered.
Somehow, a supervillain was fought off without Ladybug.
