Tris and the rest of her family are shocked when Caleb shows up with a duffle bag saying he was staying for a while a few days after her doctor's appointment. Caleb hadn't been home in almost two years and this was the first time Tris had even seen him since her transplant. His communication with everyone had been short and almost nonexistent especially since Zeke gave him a piece of his mind for being so distant.

"How long are you here for son?" Andrew asks as Caleb drops his bag by the door.

"I'm not sure, maybe a few weeks, I had some vacation time I needed to take," he says vaguely before heading to his room.

Tris looks at her father with an eyebrow raised from her seat on the couch with a questioning look and Andrew shrugs his shoulders.

The band was playing that night and Tris had better things to worry about. They usually played on Friday nights but it was raining cats and dogs that night and Andrew, Harrison, and Max had all agreed that if the band could play on Sunday it would be perfect since the weather was about to turn cold and this would be the last set for the season. She couldn't believe how much her life had changed in the past 5 months that she had known Tobias. He was loving, patient, kind and on top of that incredibly sexy. He was everything that she could ever want. She feels bad that she was still keeping the fact that she had a heart transplant from him but all that was coming to an end tonight. She was going to go back to his house tonight. Even though he had to get up for working in the morning, she figured they could have a drink and relax. It would be the perfect time for them to be alone and let her get everything out in the open. She pulls out her phone to send Christina a text. She had taken the kids home for a nap after brunch and was planning on coming back to hear the band play at 4 pm. That was one of the best things about the family all being within a few blocks of each other.

Tris: I'm going to tell him tonight

Chris: Yeah right, I've heard that before

Tris: I'm for real this time!

Chris: Does this mean you are ready to take it to the next level?

Tris: I think so…..

Chris: It's about time! He's perfect for you Sis. I gotta get these rugrats loaded into the car. See you in a few.

Tris smiles as she sets her phone down to put on her outfit for the afternoon. She decided to try something different for her outfit, she picked a white midi dress with spaghetti straps, she covered it with a lightweight white cropped sweater with Queen and a picture of a crown on it. Tobias had been saying how much he loved her legs and thighs every time they ended up making out with his hands roaming her body. She hoped he would appreciate how it accentuated her hips. It was defiantly more form fitting and the skirt was much shorter than anything she would normally wear. She had washed and styled her curls the night before so it didn't take her long to get dressed and head down to meet the guys for soundcheck.

"Tris, who picked this outfit for you?" Christina gushes as she grabs Tris's hand to twirl her around.

"I did thank you very much, You and Shauna are finally starting to rub off on me" she giggles.

"Tobias might drag you off the minute he sees you" Shauna comments.

True to Shauna's words, Tris thinks she might have seen Tobias's eyes pop out of his head when arrives.

"Damn Baby, you look... ummmm" He gushes before pulling her into a hug. "I missed you"

"Thank you. I missed you too" She presses her body up against his giggling as he lifts her off the ground with his hug. Even though it had only been three days and they talked at night on the phone, Tris was happy to have her arms around him.

"I was wording if it will be okay if I come over tonight, I know you have to work in the morning." She tries to fight off a smile while pulling her lips in over her teeth but she couldn't hide the fact that she was hoping they would both end up feeling great if he took the news of her transplant well.

"Of course, I can be a little late in the morning, I think I have a quiet day tomorrow"

"Good" She leans up and gives him a quick kiss before heading back over to help Bobby finishing setting up the microphones with a skip in her step.

Tobias stands there grinning before Zeke comes over and hands him a beer. He had a feeling based on Tris's body language he was in for a very good night.

Tris was finally showing off her acoustic guitar skills that night after she and the guys working on a few new songs for the evening. She smiles when she sees that, Amar, George, Marlene, and Will have joined Tobias for the evening and grabbed a table next to Zeke, Shauna, Uriah, and Christina.

She launches into Kissing You by Total letting her fingers dance over the strings of her guitar. She smiles as she sings every word and looks toward Tobias.

Don't matter who knows

I don't care who sees me

And thinking about you makes my life complete

And what I mean by that

That my whole world changes

You make me feel things that I never felt

I wanna kiss you

Kissin' you is all that I been thinking of

Kissin' you is ooh, ooh

Oh yeah, I wanna kiss you

Kissin' you is all that I been thinking of

Kissin' you is ooh, ooh

When I'm with my friends

I'm trying to figure out a way

To leave 'em behind just to get back to you

Oh, you're my best kept secret

And that's the way I like it

You're my pride and joy boy

That's why I'm dreaming of you

I wanna kiss you

After a few more songs, Tris and Bobby go into a duet of We Can't Be Friends by RL and Deborah Cox. Tobias had noticed the tension between Marlene and Lynn all night. Will had seated himself on the opposite end of the table, but he could see that his best friend couldn't take his eyes off Marlene. Halfway through the song, Marlene looked down at will which caused her and Lynn to begin conversing in hushed tones. Even though he couldn't hear what they were saying based on the looks on their faces Tobias had a pretty good idea. Marlene excused herself to the bathroom and when she came back, she and Lynn bid everyone good night.

When Sounds of Candor break halfway through the set Tris sees Caleb glaring at her from a corner near the door leading inside the restaurant.

"Why is Caleb being an asshole?" Uriah asks Tris as she comes to sit down on Tobias's lap and he wraps an arm around her waist.

"Hey, get your own" Tobias laughs as Tris picks up his fork and starts to eat his shellfish over girts.

"Oh please, Auntie Hana will make you a plate to take home, you know she lives for that" Tris says with a wave of her hand as Tobias chuckles and kisses her temple while she gets in a few more bites.

"Your brother is here?" Tobias asks, wondering why he wasn't with the rest of the family.

"Yeah, showed two days ago and he is being his usual self, that's him standing over by the door, glaring," Tris says with a nod of her head.

"I swear, I'm going to jack him up" Zeke declares glaring back at Caleb.

"Just Ignore him," Christina says with an eye roll. Everyone had grown accustomed to how Caleb acted since he left for New York. It had really gotten worse in the past few years.

When Mike waves for Tris to come back over to the stage she gets up and gives Tobias a quick kiss before going over to say hello to Will, Amar, and George. The second set goes by quickly, Tris is sad that this is the last night they will be performing at the restaurant for the season since the weather would be turning. This had been the most magical summer. Partially because she had met Tobias but she had become more confident in herself and tried so many new things. While Tris and Tobias help Bobby, Mike and Ravi break down the equipment, Uriah, Zeke, and Shauna pitch in to clean up the restaurant for the night while Chris gets the kids home to go to bed since they had school in the morning. With everyone helping it doesn't take long and Harrison turns on some music for everyone to enjoy a drink while the guys set up their weekly poker game. The mood is light until Caleb comes downstairs.

"Zeke, Uriah, You gonna let your uncles show you how it's done tonight?" Harrison chides.

"Oh come on old man, I'll take your money any night" Zeke replies with a grin as he takes his beer and grabs a seat next to Harrison.

"Justin is refusing to go to take a bath before bed until I come home and read him a story" Uriah chuckles as he looks at his phone and I got a check-in for my three-day rotation in the morning.

"Catch you later Uri" Zeke chuckles. "T, you want in?"

Tris nods as she and Shauna sit down to enjoy their glass of wine together and Tobias carries his chair over to the table. It was only 730, they still had plenty of time to go to his place later.

"Kiss my babies goodnight for me. Caleb, are you hungry? There are still some leftovers if you want something" Hana calls out as she hands Uriah a bag of leftovers.

"No thanks" he replies curtly. Tris looks at him, he looked a bit disheveled and unfocused. His eyes looked glossy and he almost looked jittery.

"Do you want a drink, we were just going to hang out for a bit" Tris asks, hoping he would stop being an asshole. "I want to introduce you to Tobias"

"Is that the guy who you were throwing yourself at all night"

"Whoa, what is your problem?" Tris asks, taken aback at how he was coming at her. Everyone is looking at Tris and Caleb now, equally as shocked as Tris as his tone.

"Come on Beatrice, I know you aren't that experienced but the first guy that comes along and you whore yourself out and on top of that you get up on stage dressed like that, what" he waves his hand at her outfit as he glares at her.

"Caleb, You need to the fuck chill out," Zeke says sternly and gets up to walk closer to his cousin. He had had enough of Caleb's bullshit. He notices Tobias gripping the side of the table, trying to control his anger.

"Don't start with me Zeke, you want to be so protective of her but you let her do this?"

"Contrary to what you think nobody lets me do anything Caleb, I'm a grown-ass woman" Tris spits back.

"She doesn't know what she's doing! Beatrice, you just had a freaking heart transplant, and you're over here drinking and doing God knows what else. How long before you're back in the hospital and dead like our mother"

"Shut up Caleb!" Tris screams out. She felt like her heart was going to jump out of her chest. She has tears in her eyes and Shauna puts a hand gently on her shoulder. God this was how Tobias learned about her heart transplant. What if he never trusted her again?

"Caleb that's enough" Andrew booms "You will not stay here if you can't respect your sister"

"Yeah, I'm the problem, I've always have been" Caleb yells back.

"Don't act like you haven't been treating everyone in this family like you're too fucking good for them, Caleb. You got some nerve coming in here like this and coming at Tris like she's done something wrong. What is your problem." Zeke fires back getting in Caleb's face. "Don't start something you don't want to finish Caleb"

"You not gonna do anything Zeke" Caleb challenges him. And Zeke immediately pushes Caleb square in the chest throwing him off balance and he bumps up against a table. As soon as he regains his footing he pushes Zeke back and Zeke grabs him by his collar.

"Zeke, Back off" Max calls making a step toward them and pulling Zeke back and forcing Zeke to look at him. Max and Zeke had always had a special bond after Reggie died. Max was one of the only people who could get Zeke to see reason or calm down even when Hana couldn't.

Tobias has now gotten up. He was so confused, why would his girlfriend not have told him she had a heart transplant? Was there something else she was keeping from him? Whatever her reason was they would talk about it alone together. Her being attacked by Caleb was not okay. Tris was full-on crying now and Tobias instinctively goes to wrap his arms around her wanting to protect her.

"Caleb, You need to go take a walk and calm down, this is not how to handle anything that's bothering you" Harrison interjects.

"Why because I'm saying what you don't want to say, Uncle Harry? That you let Beatrice get involved with this older guy who's taking advantage of her and you know she's too naive to see it"

At that moment Tobias was done listening to this.

"You are not going to keep disrespecting her. Back off" Tobias says coldly stepping up to Caleb.

"Whatever, do whatever you want. When she realizes how shitty the world is because she's never done anything, everyone here will coddle and take care of her just like they always have"

"Caleb, you don't know me and sure as hell have no right to speak on my relationship with your sister"

"Caleb, Please stop it" Tris was beside herself. What the hell was Caleb's problem? He had never lashed out like this before.

"No Bea, Let him know what he's getting into. Are tou two going to get married and play house? Have you told him how everyone in this fucking family dies, how you all sit around and act like it's normal? What's he going to do when you die when your heart gives out Bea, sit here every Sunday and pay homage to his dead wife like nothing happened." Caleb yells out almost sobbing.

Tobias loses all focus throws a punch straight at Caleb's face. Caleb pushes his back put Tobias keeps swinging. They stumble into the poker table, knocking over glasses and chairs. Caleb isn't as agile and quick as Tobias who doesn't miss landing a punch. Zeke leaps up and grabs Tobias while Harrison, Max, and Andrew go after Caleb.

"Tobias, Please, Calm down! Tobias! Please! " Tris cries out as her voice cracks. Her voice seems to draw Tobias out of his rage. He stops struggling against Zeke as he hears that his girlfriend is sobbing.

"That's all you got, Come on hit me again," Caleb pants sweaty with his shirt is ripped. He wipes the trickle of blood coming from the corner of his mouth.

"T. come on dude. Caleb, shut your fucking mouth!" Zeke warns as he and Max go to get between Caleb and Tobias.

"Caleb you need to get out, Now!" Andrew bellows. Caleb shrugs off his father and his uncle and storms up the stairs the door to their apartment slamming loudly behind him.

"You don't need to make him leave, I'm going, I apologize Mr. Prior. I shouldn't have hit him" Tobias says solemnly, ashamed that he let his anger get out of control.

"Tobias, you have nothing to apologize for and we aren't asking you to leave" Andrew replies immediately wiping his forehead.

"I know, but I think I need to," He says quietly going over to Tris who is not crying as hard but still has tears in her eyes. Tobias grabs his keys and his phone and winces, looking at his hand that was cut. Zeke, Andrew, Harrison, and Max start to pick up the chairs that were knocked over. Hana sweeps up the glasses that were broken in the fight.

"I'm so sorry Tobias," Tris says looking at the floor in front of him.

"Hey, Hey, You have nothing to be sorry for" He places a finger up her chin to tilt her head up. "Look at me Baby, I'll see you tomorrow okay, please try and calm down for me," he says genuinely.

He didn't want to upset her even more but he really did need to calm down and put some space between himself and her brother. Right now he wanted to follow Caleb upstairs and finish what he started. Tris looks at him with another tear falling down her cheek which he wipes away before pulling her close to him and kissing her forehead. Tris nods as she pulls away and watches him head out the front door of the restaurant. Hana comes over and pulls Tris into a tight hug and Tris starts to cry again.

"Why didn't I tell him earlier, he shouldn't have found out this way" Tris sobs against Hana's shoulder. "I hate Caleb right now, Aunite, I hate him, why did he do this to me. I've never done anything to him."

"Shhhhh Bumblebee. Just give Tobias some time to calm down. I don't know what's wrong with Caleb. Let me go talk to him." Hana soothes. Hana was the one who could always get Caleb to talk. He had always been smart, not as outgoing as the rest of the kids in the family but he had never been downright mean and hateful like he was tonight. She needed to see what was going on with her nephew.

"Uncle Andrew, If I look at him right now I'm going to finish what Tobias started," Zeke says as he and Shauna grab their things. Andrew nods his head and pats him on the shoulder. Shauna gives Tris a hug and asks her to call her when she's ready to talk.

"Bumblebee, how about you go get some rest, lay down or something," Harrison suggests. "Hana I'm going to come with you to talk to Caleb" Hana nods as they make their way to head upstairs.

Tris nods and numbly goes upstairs and goes straight to her room only briefly looking at Caleb's closed door. She looks at her phone and pulls it out to text Tobias but she stares at the screen not sure what to say. Should she apologize again? Does she ask if they can meet up tomorrow so she can explain?

She takes a shower and throws on a pair of leggings and a sweatshirt. She was restless, she knew she wouldn't be able to sleep. She can hear Harrison and Hana in Caleb's room and it sounded like the conversation was getting loud and Caleb was yelling again. She looks at her phone again. It was only 9. She jumps up and grabs a bag out of her closet and throws in a few changes of clothes, some toiletries, hair products from her bathroom. She stops at her vanity and throws in all of her medications that she takes every day for her heart. She grabs her tablet and her phone charger and heads out the door calling a Lyft to pick her up.

Tobias takes the glass of bourbon he was sipping on and sets it against his forehead. He had put some ice on his hand after he had taken Pharaoh out when he got home. He was a bit lost in his thoughts about everything that had transpired over the evening. So much about Tris was making more sense now, especially her apprehension with taking her shirt off. He chuckles to himself thinking about their first date when she slapped him. He had touched her shirt, it makes sense now she was scared he would see something related to her heart transplant. What he couldn't figure out was why had she kept it from him? Did this mean that she didn't trust him? He tries to shrug it off but he couldn't get to look off her face as her brother ranted and yelled. It broke his heart. Tris didn't deserve that, no matter what she kept from him. He takes a sip of the drink when Pharoah gets up and runs to the door.

"What is it, boy?"

Just then the doorbell rings and Pharoah wags his tail excitedly. He gets up and is surprised to see his girlfriend on the porch. He immediately opens the door for her.

"Baby, what's wrong"

"I'm so sorry about Caleb, I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I just felt like I couldn't breathe and I need you, I just needed you" she throws out before launching herself in Tobias's arms.

"Hey, Hey, Shhh, It's okay. I'm here. I'm right here." He hugs her closer, his heartbreaking as she tightens her grip around him.

"Can, Can I stay here tonight?" she stutters out.

"Of course, whatever you want." he soothes pulling back just enough to look at her and stroke her cheek. He looks down at the bag she dropped when she walked in the door. Tobias pulls away and closes the door and locks up.

"Do you want a drink?" he asks noticing she was trembling.

"Yes, Please"

Pharaoh whimpers at her distress and nudges her hand forcing his head into her lap. She quietly stokes his head while a fresh set of tears fall down her face.

"Here you go" he hands her a glass of wine. "Do you want to watch a movie? I need to take a shower first though"

"Yeah, go, I'll be fine here"

Tobias nods and goes upstairs. He stands in the shower for a while, letting the hot water soothe his tense muscles. He remembers the optimism he had at the beginning of the evening about where this night would end up. He shook his head as he stepped out of the shower. So much for that.

Right now he wanted to make sure Tris was alright, she still seemed pretty shaken up. He throws on a pair of basketball shorts and goes to head downstairs but his eyes go wide when he sees Tris sitting on the end of his bed looking around. She had sat on the couch for a few minutes, drinking the glass of wine quickly. She still wasn't sure if Tobias was upset with her but she wanted to forget that tonight ever happened. She wanted him to make her forget.

"You want to talk?" he asks sitting down beside her.

"No" she replies softly before crawling over him to straddle his lap and wrapping her arms around him. He pulls her close breathing in her scent. Tris boldly brings her mouth to his and starts to kiss him. She presses herself against him, her tongue invading his mouth. When she goes to take off her shirt, Tobias grabs her hands to stop her.

"Tris, Baby, we should slow down and take a step back"

"But I don't want to, I want you to make love to me tonight, I'm ready" she defends.

Tobias sighs, as much as he had been sexually frustrated and wanting to take their relationship to the next level, this didn't feel right. He didn't want this night to be the memory of her first time when she just wanted an escape.

"Tris, I don't think tonight is the right night to do this. I'm not going to be that guy to take advantage of you when you are emotional"

"But I'm finally ready and you don't want me?" Tris chokes out with tears falling down her eyes again.

"Baby, I want you, and I want us to be together but it's not right when you aren't thinking clearly."

Feeling like she had been kicked in the stomach Tris tries to get up, her face flushed with embarrassment and anger. She finally puts herself out there and this is what she gets. Why had she come here?

"Let me go, Tobias," Tris says angrily as Tobias grabs her wrists and holds them preventing her from getting away from him.

"No, You aren't going to run away from this. I've been that guy Tris. That guy who would take advantage of you being emotional and sleep with you just for my own benefit. I am not that guy anymore and I won't do that to you, I care about you too damn much"

Tris lets out a gut-wrenching sob as she stops struggling. Tobias pulls her close as she wraps her arms around him and continually sobs. He doesn't know how long they sit there with him holding her close. He doesn't say anything, he just holds her and lets her cry. He eventually lays them down with Tris curled on his side. He pulls the covers over them and then he wraps his arms around her like a cage protecting her from everything on the outside pulling her back to his chest. Eventually, he notices that her sobs stop and her body relaxes. Tonight had been rough, but he was going to make sure they worked through it. There was no way he was going to let her go.

Let me know what you think!
