This chapter was a blast to write, I loved it!
Remember, Tenzin is a master swordsman from practicing Kendo since he was six...
Inuyasha actually had to leap away as the other half demon, glowing with purple energy, charged him. The boy moved at speeds that exceeded his own at base level. The boy swiped his sword across where Inuyasha had been standing, sending a purple wave of energy that collided with a nearby tree. Inuyasha watched as the purple energy seemed to sink into the tree, a rotting scent filling the air as the tree started to waste away.
'Do not let him touch me with that attack, I am not entirely sure I could entirely avoid its effects.' He turned to the side, easily dodging a sword strike, before getting kicked hard in the face. Inuyasha went flying back, slamming into a tree hard enough that he had trouble seeing for a moment. 'Don't let him hit me, he hits hard even if he's weaker than me... and he actually knows how to fight, he is well trained. Damn it...'
Flipping back, Inuyasha charged his claws with power and swiped down. "Iron Reav-AGHH!" He screamed as the sword tore through his nails, tearing a bloody swath across the tips of his fingers. With all his strength, he flew back and into the trees, holding onto his hand. "Why is it still bleeding?" He gritted out, focusing power into his fingers, feeling a burning. "It must be that purple energy, it's stopping my healing." Gritting his teeth, Inuyasha looked at the boy beneath him, hateful and wrathful, the boy oozing demonic power. It was weak but the hate it released was not, the boy genuinely wanted him dead. "I am going to kill- What the hell?" He interrupted himself as purple beads appeared around his neck in a flash of energy, he felt their spiritual energy. He grabbed hold of them, trying to yank them off but they just would move. "What's this?"
"Kagome! Recite the Word to hold Inuyasha's spirit!" An Old Hag called out.
Kagome, the girl that looked and smelled so much like Kikyo, frowned. " Huh? What?"
"Just say something! To hold his spirit, your word has power!"
To his horror, the girl's eyes moved to his ears. "S—S—Sit!" Inuyasha screamed as his entire body was forced down, through the branch he was standing on and into the ground. "SIT! SIT! SIT!" With each word, his body was crushed into the earth more and more and more, he couldn't think, he could barely breathe. This was agony.
"What the heck is this thing?" Inuyasha said as he struggled to sit up, tugging on the beads desperately. "AHHH!" Agony exploded on his face suddenly, sharp searing pain that sliced across his cheeks. Looking up, he saw the boy he had momentarily forgotten, his eyes void of expression. Hate, loathing, rage... they all seemed to have evaporated, leaving an empty shell run entirely by demonic power.
"Stop, he is helpless, Tenzin." The Old Hag said, her voice shocked and sharp all at once. Inuyasha, despite himself, appreciated that as death was not something he wanted to endure.
When the boy stepped forward, his purple aura dancing along his skin, Kagome's voice rang out. "Tenzin, please!" Before he could blink, her arms were wrapped around the boy. A wave of pink light exploded from the girl, purifying the boy who blinked, then collapsed to his knees and then to the ground.
One word passed his lips. "Sis..." And then he passed out.
The Hag approached. "Inuyasha, for your safety as much as ours, tell me... is he truly a half-demon?"
Terrified of the boy who could have and nearly did kill him despite his power and armor, Inuyasha answered. "Not anymore, but before... before he smelled exactly like a half-demon. He still smells sort of demonic now..."
"It is as I feared... Kagome may be Kikyo's reincarnation, but this boy is a demon or half-demon reborn. His spirit may be kind, but his soul is corrupting his body. If he does not find a way to manage this, his soul's demonic energy will sear away his humanity entirely, leaving him nothing but an empty shell."
""""
A loud crunching sound shifted Tenzin from his deep sleep, snapping him to conciousness. Without a thought, he lashed out and his foot connected at the sound, he heard a grunt and thud as whomever he hit slammed into a wall. Eyes open, he saw Inuyasha glaring at him from the wall.
"What'd you do that for?"
Rising, Tenzin felt the power from before burn in him as he felt the cold presence of Inuyasha brush against his skin, the urge to kill was strong. "You threatened my sister, you need to die."
"NO!" Kagome's voice snapped Tenzin from his rage, he turned to see her looking at him with worry. "He's fine, Tenzin, Kaede bound him with a spelled rosary, he can't hurt anyone. If he does, I just have to say one word and he's put down. Please, no more violence, you scared me enough last night."
"Scared you?" He said, offended and worried.
"Yeah, you were crazed, I had to hug you to get you not to kill Inuyasha after he was bound. You were crazed, you had these strange powers. You cut off Inuyasha's fingernails, you tried to kill him. I have never seen you like that." His sister's eyes were teary, her expression full of worry. "Please, no more killing if you don't have to."
Sighing, he pulled her into a hug. "I won't kill if I don't have to, but I might have to. We are in feudal Japan, sissy... this place, it's dangerous. Especially if Demons are real. Mercy is not a luxury we can always afford any more." He turned to the Older woman. "Did I hurt anyone but the idiot?"
"No, child." Kaede smiled. "However, as I told your sister, you are not human. You are a demon, or half-demon, reborn. Just as your sister's duty is now to protect the Shikon Jewel, as she is my sister Kikyo reborn, you have your own burden. To gain control over your power, less it burns out your humanity."
Horrified, Tenzin fell to his butt. "Seriously? I mean I can't argue, I was able to do inhuman things, I was faster than a car and I was able to pierce the centipede's skin when the arrows were shattering against her. Kagome, you said I had other powers, what did you mean?"
His sister shuddered. "You had this scary purple aura and when you swung your sword it burned through a tree! Speaking of your sword... I am sorry, Tenzin..." She turned and pointed to something in the corner of the hut, when Tenzin turned to look his heart sank. There were the remains of his sword, twisted and melted into a pretzel of metal. The gift from his Grandfather, destroyed.
"How?"
It was Inuyasha who answered. "Your demonic power cannot be contained in metal... your power, whatever it comes from, is corrosive and toxic, and that destroyed your sword."
"Damn it... I need a new sword, something that can contain my power. I need it if I am to protect Kagome."
"Protect me, what about yourself?" His sister gaped at him.
"I know how to wield a sword sis, you have powers too but you have no idea how to use them. I am unsure of how to use my powers too, but like I said I can use a sword, and Kendo teaches a bit of hand-to-hand combat so there's that."
She looked annoyed, but she nodded. "I get that..."
A loud groan made Tenzin blush. "I guess I'm hungry...and tired. My muscles ache too, I just feel sort of worn-out actually."
Kaede nodded. "Your soul is fueling your powers, but your body is not adapt to it yet. It will change slowly as you are corrupted into a demonic state, whatever that means for you. You will get stronger and stronger as you become a full half-demon. Using your strength until then will damage your body and require a lot of energy, so really it is natural for your to feel like this. I figured you would be, I saved you some breakfast." She handed him some bread, smiling at him softly.
"Thank you... so, how do I control this demonic soul of mine?"
"I am not sure. I have heard of those like you, but it is a rare thing. I have never come across someone like you, nor have I heard of anyone like you in person. I know of now seals that could help you either. I will consider this more fully, see if I can find or know of any means to assist you."
Yawning, Tenizn nodded and ate his food. "If it's all the same, I think I need more sleep... "
"Do what you need to, child, we will be here when you awaken."
Kagome hugged him again. "Oh, so you don't freak out later, your eyes... the brown part, it's red now. The pupil is white!"
"Really?" He asked, horrified and excited all at once. "Let's hope Grandpa doesn't try and exercise me if we ever get home." Sighing, he moved into a corner and laid down, covering up and closing his eyes. It wasn't until he did that he realized how utterly beat he was... and once again he fell asleep, deeper then ever before. It was like falling into a pit of tar...
"""
Tenzin awoke later, he wasn't sure how long it was that he slept, but instead of a sound that woke him, it was a feeling and a scream. It was dread and terror and his sister's voice, screaming his name. "TENZIN!" Like she was in his ear and his heart. He woke immediately and rushed out of the hut, following a pull in his chest, a pull that he knew somehow would take him to his sister. With a speed that rivaled what he had done when facing the Centipede, he rushed towards the forest.
"Wait up!" Looking up, he saw Inuyasha leaping from tree to tree behind him.
"I can't Kagome's in danger, weapon or no, I will save her. I can feel her, something in me is leading me to her."
"She's got the jewel, I have to keep her safe too." Inuyasha groaned out. "
"Whatever, just don't get in my way or it's your head."
And so they continued, rushing towards the tug that led him towards his sister. He prayed for the first time, that she was safe and no going to die... he could not live without her... he wouldn't want to.
