Thank you for the reviews! Ya'll make my day! Ya'll gonna be mad at Evelyn again so buckle up!

When Evelyn left, Tris decided she couldn't be there if Tobias didn't want to see her. Zeke gave her his credit card information and she booked a one-way ticket to Grenada for two days later. She packed two bags and called in a refill of her heart medications. Her conversation with Evelyn played over and over in her mind. Tobias still hadn't called her so he didn't want to see her. She thought about going to see him but she didn't think she could take being rejected by him in person. Evelyn said she was going to tell him she was going away. If he wanted to see her he would have called.

Tris: I know you wanted space. I'm going to give it to you. I'm leaving for a while tomorrow afternoon. I love you, and I never wanted to hurt you.

She looks at the message and before she pushes send and then she deletes it before she gets up and starts to pack again. He was okay with this, he would have said something, said anything. She needed to leave and apparently, he was willing to let her.

Zeke pulls Tris's suitcase into the back of his SUV. Tris was taking her art supplies with her, hoping to let out some of her emotions through painting. She hugs Hana, Max, and Harrison goodbye. She had spent the morning with Christina and the kids. Jalen and Justin made her promise to bring them back seashells.

"Still no word from him?" Shauna asks as she puts her hand on the door handle. Tris shakes her head no.

"Maybe you shouldn't go?" Rose asks with a sad look in her eyes.

"No, if he didn't want me to go he would have said something, I think it's better this way"

Andrew wraps his daughter into a tight embrace.

"We love you Bumblebee, Please be safe"

"I will Daddy, and I love you too" she whispers in his ear.

Tris sits nervously in her seat on the plane. This was only her third plane trip but she had made it this far. She had a connecting flight in Miami which she found easily. She kept her AirPods in most of the trip not wanting to interact with anyone. She watched a movie on her Ipad for part of the trip but she was still restless wanting to forget the events of the past week.

She kept her phone on Airplane mode but she had spoken to her cousin Beth before she boarded in Miami via What's App to let her know that her flight was still on time. She and Beth had video chatted a few times over the past two days after Andrew let her know that Tris was coming alone to Grenada and wanted to stay at the resort.

Tris grabbed her bags after going through immigration and customs. The humidity had hit her as soon as she stepped off the plane. It had only been 50 degrees when she left Chicago so she had dressed in jeans and a T-shirt with a hoodie. She had shed her hoodie in Miami but had wanted to put a scarf around her neck to cover her scar but there was no way she was doing that now, she was already sweating. Her jeans felt too heavy and she couldn't wait to change into a dress.

She sees Beth waving at her from the waiting area. Tris gave a weak smile. She could see how much Beth favored Andrew and Harrison. They all shared the same warm sepia skin town and deep brown eyes and the same high cheekbones. Beth was about her height. Tris knew from her father that she was only a year older than Harrison. Her daughter Kiara was the same age as Caleb. She worked at the resort as well serving as the guest relations manager. She went by Kiki and Tris could tell she had a sweet spirit.

They both give Tris warms welcome hugs as they help with her luggage and walk to the car.

"I know you must be tired dear, and it's dark, we will have to take you on a tour of the island another day in the daytime," Beth remarks, her accent rich just like her father and her uncle's. Hearing Beth speak though Tris could see how Andrew and Harrisons had lighted over the years even though it was still present.

"That would be great, I do want to see where my father and uncle lived" Tris replied quietly.

Beth tells stories about her father and Tris's grandparents from when she was small as Tris looks out the window of their SUV on the ride to the resort. It was dark so she could barely make out any of her surroundings but she could see the moonlight on the ocean as they drove along the highway.

She had landed at around 9 pm so it was almost 11 pm by the time they reach the resort. She was grateful that Beth and Kiara could see she was tired and walk her to her room so she could just rest. Kiara makes sure she has her cell phone number in What's app so they could communicate since Tris's phone was only connected to the wifi.

"Beth, this is too much, I can stay in another room" Tris breathes out as she takes in the large suite complete with a living room, bedroom with a four-poster king-size bed, an ensuite bathroom that holds a jacuzzi tub, and a separate stone shower.

"Nonsense, One of the perks of owning a resort is we can do anything, and you are family. We just want you to be comfortable"

Tris thanks them again before they leave. She takes a look out at the terrace of the bedroom that leads straight out onto a private patio and outdoor area that was a few yards away from the beach. The bellhop brings her bags to the room and shows her where the room service menu is in case she wants to order anything. She just nods and digs in her bag for a tip as she pushes him out the door. She closes the curtains tight and strips down to her underwear and crawls into the bed, letting the exhaustion take over. A few tears fell from her eyes but she is so tired she just lets them fall.

The next morning, Tris lays in the king-size beth of the resort in Grenada. Her phone buzzes on the nightstand where she had plugged it in the night before. She sees a string of messages from Shauna, Christina, and Marlene. She puts it back and rolls back over. She felt empty, and she didn't know how to not feel this way. She had tossed and turned all night much as she had in the last week and a half since the last time she had shared a bed with Tobias. She didn't want to think about him but every time she closed her eyes, he was there. She couldn't get rid of him.

She lays there most of the day with the TV on as ambient noise. Around lunchtime, Kiki buzzed to see if she wanted to have lunch but Tris declines and rolls back over and lays there until she falls asleep again. This time when she wakes up it's dark again. She reaches for her phone after rubbing her eyes adjusting to the darkness of the room. She flips on the bedside lamp and blinks her eyes again. She sees it's around 11:30 pm. She has more text messages which she doesn't feel like responding to. Her fingers tremble and as she scrolls to the last message she had from Tobias. She hovers over the keys and starts to type out a message and then stops herself. She blocks his number and then throws her phone down and falls back on the pillows. She picks up the remote and flips through the tv, and then throws it down after finding a random cooking show. The tv plays in the background but she doesn't hear anything.

It's been a week since I last spoke to him and he hasn't even sent a text. He should have called me or something when he knew I was leaving. I just need to figure out how to move on. I guess this really does mean it's over.

Tris sits in the restaurant of the resort a cup of tea in front of her staring off to space. She had finally decided to pull herself out of her room after two days of being holed up away from the world. She had taken a few bites of breakfast but it remained largely untouched. She had finally decided to respond to the massive amount of text messages she had been receiving from her family. She had only replied to Marlene, Christina, Shauna, Rose, Uriah, and Zeke's text with a simple I'm fine, don't worry about me.

Kiki comes as sits next to her. She had been so excited about getting to know her mother's family since she was an only child just like her mother. Beth had always spoken of the fond memories she had over her cousins. Kiki had worked hard to surprise her mother that she had been able to track down Andrew and Harrison in Chicago. She could tell Tris was going through something. She didn't want to crowd her but she also wanted to let her know she wasn't alone.

"Hey, cousin. I'm glad you are out today. Mum and I were worried about you"

"Thanks, I'm sorry, I've been kind of out of it" Tris replies with a forced smile.

"It's fine, really, just know there's tons of stuff to do, just let me know if want to do anything or what you need"

"Thanks," Tris says quietly looking off out of the window of the restaurant that had a clear view of the ocean. The blue water was sparkling from the sun.

"Listen, I talked to Mum, we aren't super busy, you stay as long as you need to Tris."

Tris gave another half-hearted smile as she traces the top of her coffee mug with her fingertip. She still felt numb.

"If you want to talk, I'm here," Kiki says squeezing her arm as she gets up.

After a while, Tris gives up trying to eat anything and goes for a walk on the beach. The resort staff are all friendly, always smiling the exact opposite of how she feels. She loved the Caribbean culture all around her from everyone's speech to the music playing lightly through the speakers. Under different circumstances, she would love to be here with the rest of her family. She wanted to see her father and uncle back here in their native country. As she walks along the surf, she doesn't know how her father has gone all these years without seeing the ocean again. Lake Michigan was different, sure it felt like an ocean but the Caribbean was warm and majestic. The water was so crystal clear. Tris picked up several seashells as she walked along. She tried to fight it every time her mind wandered to how she and Tobias were planning to come here together over the summer with her cousins. How she was excited to walk on the beach and hold his hand, how they were going to make love to the sound of the ocean outside of their room. Her anger at him wells up again and she hurls one of the seashells in her hand as hard as she could watching it plunk loudly in the water when it landed.

The next day Tris pulls out her paints and easel, but she sits in her chair at a far end of the walkway away from the other resort guests starting at the ocean. The entire day passed by and she still had a blank canvas. It was like all the creativity had been sapped out of her body. She jumps when she feels a hand on her shoulder.

"I didn't mean to frighten you, Tris, I called you twice and you didn't answer," Beth says moving in front of her.

"I'm sorry I didn't hear you" Tris replies, hanging her head down.

"Come take a walk with me, dear"

Tris looks up at her and sees the soft smile. She nods and sets down her paintbrush on the easel. They walk onto the beach and walk down the surf for a while, with Beth carrying her shoes in her hand as she still had on her hotel navy blue blouse and skirt.

After they find a quiet section of beach away from any other resort guests Beth takes a seat on the sand and Tris joins her. They just sit there in silence and after a while, Tris starts to cry. When she starts to sob, Beth puts her arm around her shoulders and pulls her close, and rubs her shoulder. Beth just lets her cry. It breaks Beth's hearts though, how full of anguish she sounded. They sit there and Beth still holds Tris close to her rocking until her tears stop.

"God, I'm sorry I'm such a mess," Tris says with a forced laugh as she wipes her eyes.

"Are you ready to talk about him?" Beth asks quietly.

"I guess my dad talked to you, didn't he"

"Yes he did but I know heartbreak when I see it"

Tris sighs and traces a line in the sand. The sun was starting to set. It really was beautiful. She wanted to be here with Tobias, with her family not alone and heartbroken.

"Beth, I feel so stupid, I know that our situation is complicated, I get it but, how could he say he loved me and let me walk away, he didn't even try to stop me"

"Love is the strongest drug in the word Tris. It makes people do things they never would dream of doing if they weren't in love. How would you feel if the tables were turned and you found out what he did?"

"I get that it's a shock, I was in shambles just thinking about telling him but I did it. We spent all this time working on communicating especially after were together for months and didn't tell him about my transplant"

"Maybe he just needs more time to process how he's feeling, that doesn't mean he doesn't love you"

"It's just too much, his mother was right, we're from two different worlds and this was just the realization that this can't work. I can't be good for him, I don't think he would have let me walk away if he didn't believe it himself deep down"

"So that's it, you never want to see him again?"

Tris sighs "He made his decision"

"You know you are welcome here as long as you want Tris, You are family and we take care of family"

"I've been thinking about that. Do you think I could work here at the resort? I'm a server and I've been taking classes and learning the restaurant business, I can earn my keep. I don't want to just freeload off of you"

Beth breathes in through her nose and looks at her younger cousin. She thought it was a mistake, her not trying to fix things with this man but she knew from experience Tris needed to figure it out for herself.

"If that's what you want, you need a work visa though since you're an American citizen, it might take some time to get it though"

Tris leans over and gives Beth a big hug.

"Thank you, you don't know how much I appreciate everything you've done for me"

"Come on, how about you have dinner with Kiki and me tonight"

Tris nods and gives a genuine smile for the first time since she's been in Grenada.

Tobias stands in the mirror adjusting his bow tie. He had no desire to attend this fundraiser with his family that evening but his mother and father wouldn't stop pestering. He knew they would be filming that evening. Marlene would be there and she had threatened to drag him out of the house if he didn't come and fulfill the second requirement of his three-show appearances for Real Housewives of Chicago.

The only good things about it were that it was being held at his mother's art gallery so he didn't have to suffer sitting through an awkward dinner. The other upside was it was earlier in the day since it was a Saturday and he could have his evening in peace. Well relative peace, without Tris he wasn't sure what he was doing.

It had been almost three weeks since he found out that Tris had Lauren's heart. He was still grappling with his feelings. He wanted to ask where to tell her that he loved her but something stopped him that day. He had worked up the courage to call her about five days later but she hadn't answered. He had been calling and texting but no response. Not talking to her was killing him but she clearly didn't want to talk to him. He kept telling himself that this separation was a good thing. He had been so conflicted that first week but was slowly starting to work through his feelings and understanding how to separate what he felt for Tris and Lauren.

As the days went on though he was a mess. He was barely eating or sleeping. It was as if he was in that space after Lauren died and he was just existing, not really living. He hadn't told his parents about the situation with Tris and Marlene promised not to let it slip this time no matter what his mother does to antagonize Tobias.

Evelyn was hosting a showing of art from African American high school and college students in the Chicago area. There was a silent auction and she had worked with several ladies in her circles to match the sale of the pieces in a donation for local arts programs. The producers ate it up, especially since Evelyn and one of the other cast members had at each other's throats about the event. His mother ate up all the attention as event-goers commented on her yellow Valentino dress. Tobias knew his mother was in great shape for 54 but she also let everyone know it.

Tobias puts on a good face when he walks into the gallery. He has to wear a microphone that the producers fuss over him which irritates him. Marlene gives him a tumbler of bourbon from the bar to help him loosen up. Marlene and Tobias make rounds together, laughing together at cast members over-exaggeration of everything. Tobias hadn't laughed and felt this relaxed in the weeks since he and Tris hadn't spoken. When Marlene gets pulled away by Marcus to speak with one of the board members from Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Tobias groans when his mother approaches.

"Could not scowl so much Tobias?" His mother comments as she stands next to him and sips her champagne after they spoke briefly with one of the guests in attendance. He tries not to roll his eyes in response.

"Come along dear, there is someone I want to introduce you too" Evelyn instructs. Tobias follows, looking at his watch, hoping he could bail on this thing soon even though it hadn't been as horrible as he expected. Tobias was on his third bourbon and coke, it was the only way he could make himself calm down that evening. So he was feeling a little bit more cordial now.

"Tobias dear, this is India Davidson, she is the new surgery fellow working at Northwestern with your father. I hope you and your sister will help her get acclimated to Chicago, your father and I will be having her over dinner this week." Evelyn smiles as the two shake hands. India was just the type of woman she thought Tobias needed. She figured pushing another lawyer at him would be too much. India was pretty, with radiant umber skin and long legs. Her faux locs gave her an earthy vibe. She didn't look like she was trying too hard with the simple green Prada dress that hugged her hips in all the right places.

"Nice to meet you India, I assume you relocated for residency"

"Yes, I went to Meharry for Medical school but I'm from Atlanta and went to Clark Atlanta for undergraduate"

"HBCU family, That's cool, I went to Morehouse. My sister went to Meharry but she's in year three of her residency in the ER at Northwestern, she's around here somewhere. You should meet her,"

"You know I hate these things" she leans over and whispers to him.

He chuckles before responding. "Yeah me too, no matter how many we attend"

"Jack and Jill?" she asks.

"Of course"

"You know, how I like to pass the time at these things. I pick out people and try to guess what they do for a living"

Tobias takes a sip of his drink and looks at this watch. It was still early, it was better than going home to an empty house and try not to think about Tris. What harm could it be?

"Okay, what about that lady over there, in the blue dress" Tobias nods to a younger woman that looked in her mid-20s that was poured into a tight blue dress and practically pushing her boobs into the man standing in front of her.

"I think she's a make artist or Instagram model" India whispers and Tobias snorts with laughter.

"My turn, what about the bald guy over there in the corner checking out that lady's ass?"

"Hmmm, I think he's a podiatrist who is looking for his 4th ex-wife"

India giggles trying to not spit out her drink.

They keep it up for another 10 minutes with Tobias grabbing them both another glass of champagne as the waiter passes by with a tray. He knows it's the alcohol but he was feeling pretty loose at the moment as he and India start discussing some of their favorite spots in Atlanta.

"You know, since I'm going to be working with your father, we will probably be seeing each other quite often," India says placing her hand gently on Tobias's chest leaning in closely.

He backs up with a scowl on his face.

"I don't mean to give you the wrong idea but I'm not…"

"Oh, your mom told me about your wife passing away, I don't want to push you, but take your time, I"m not going anywhere" she smiles.

"Yeah that is true that my wife died a few years ago but she neglected to tell you that I have a girlfriend that I'm very much in love with"

It was the truth, he never for one second thought that he and Tris weren't together even if they weren't speaking to each other right now. .

"Oh, I'm sorry, she just made it seem like...," India says with furrowed eyebrows.

"Like I was available, yeah I'm not" Tobias replies, his tone filled with annoyance.

Marlene walks up and grabs Tobias by the elbow dragging him to a corner of the room leaving India standing there still confused.

"Excuse me but what the fuck was that?" Marlene says as she crosses her arms crosses her chest.

"Your mother meddling in my life" Tobias groans and pinches the bridge of his nose.

"Even if she was you were clearly flirting. Tris may be your girlfriend but she's my friend now too. You need to get your shit together T."

"I didn't mean to, I think I've had too much to drink, I just haven't even laughed in three weeks. I miss Tris and...I don't know what I'm doing... I need to get out of here" Tobias sighs wiping his face with his hand the stress apparent on his face. God, he felt awful now. He shouldn't have come to this stupid event. All he wanted to do now was to go home and forget this happened.

"Yeah, go home, chill out, I'm going to meet Shauna for a late dinner and get out of here too, I'll call you tomorrow"

Tobias nods and they walk together to the back of the office signaling one of the production assistants to get them unhooked from the mics they were wearing.

After the mishap with India that evening Tobias needed to get out and clear his head. He started at the amber liquid in the tumbler in his hand. He swirled it around before taking a had ditched his bow tie and jacket with his shirt unbuttoned and sleeves rolled up. How could he have gotten so comfortable with another woman that evening? Sure he had been drinking but he didn't want her, he wanted Tris. He loves Tris but she won't talk to him.

Will had agreed to meet Tobias for a few drinks after he received a text from Tobias an hour earlier to meet him at one of the bars they frequented. By the time Will got there, Tobias was already a few drinks in.

"Hey slow up there bro" Will cautions as Tobias takes the shot of tequila in front of him that was sitting next to a glass of bourbon and signals the bartender for another.

Will saw Zeke enter the building and he waved him down to the end of the bar.

"I take it he called you too," Will says when Zeke sits down on the other side of Tobias.

"Yeah, and It looks like you are going to need some help, How much has he had?" Zeke sighs as he takes in the sight of Tobias. He, Tobias, and Will hung out regularly now and Zeke had never seen Tobias this drunk.

Shauna and Zeke had already talked at length about how to handle the situation. Zeke had been conflicted because he was so overprotective of Tris but now that he and Tobias built this friendship it made this even more complicated to sort out. Everyone had agreed this was a delicate situation and they didn't want to make things worse for Tris and Tobias even though Uriah and Zeke were initially ready to fly off the handle when Tris left for Grenada.

"I fucked up" Tobias groans, taking the next shot of tequila in front of him. "Zeke's going to kick my ass"

"That you did, and Shauna talked me out of kicking your ass so I'm going easy on you. This hasn't been an easy situation to deal with," Zeke tells him.

Tobias pulls out his phone and fumbles with trying to unlock it. Will quickly grabs Tobias's phone out of his hand when he sees him about to start texting.

"Yeah, drunk texting is not a good idea in this situation my friend"

"I have to tell her I love her, and she won't talk to me" Tobias slurs, taking another drink of the bourbon and Coke in front of him.

"How about you do that when you're sober" Zeke says patting him on the shoulder.

Zeke signals to the bartender and pays the tab. He and Will help guide Tobias out to the car as stumbles. Zeke calls Shauna to have her and Marlene meet them at Tobias's house so they can make sure they get him in safely and sobered up.

"What happened?" Shauna asks as she and Marlene walk inside Tobias's house.

"Well my mother tried to be slick and throw some girl at him during the fundraiser, he had been drinking and was kind of flirting with her. I think he was telling her to back off but I quickly put a stop to that."

"And then Tobias decided to crawl inside a bottle" Zeke grunts and he and Will each let go of an arm and Tobias groans as he falls back on the couch.

"Something has got to give with him and Tris" Shauna sighs as Marlene goes into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water and some aspirin for her brother.

"Tris, won't let me tell her I love her, I just need her to let me explain why I was confused" Tobias slurs and moans out as he tries to sit up on the couch after a few tries he starts to gag.

"Fuck! Will get a trash can! " Zeke says hurriedly. Will sprints to the kitchen and makes it back just in time before Tobias vomits all over the living room floor.

"We have got to do something, This is a fucking mess! Why is Tris not responding to him? Is she that upset and hurt still?" Marlene complains as she tries to get Tobias to drink some water. "Or is it because she's out of the country?"

"It can't be that she can get messages and calls over wifi, she Face Timed with Christina and the kids a few days ago because the boys had been asking to talk to her. She just keeps telling us she's fine, that's all we get" Zeke relays as he rubs Pharaoh behind the ears and sits in a chair across from the couch.

"Yeah, that's all I got out of her too, was an I'm fine and don't worry" Marlene sighs out.

"Have they talked at all since she told him?" Shauna asks.

Everyone grimaces as Tobias leans over and throws up in the trash can again.

"I don't think so, he keeps talking about how she won't respond to him" Will shrugs.

"Where's his phone?" Marlene asks and Zeke reaches in his pocket and hands it to her.

Marlene quickly unlocks it. She had made sure she knew the password when he had spiraled after Lauren's death and as she had predicted, he hadn't changed it. She looks through his messages.

"Yeah she blocked him, his messages aren't showing that they were delivered" Marlene confirms setting the phone down on the coffee table.

"Damn, Tris is stubborn as hell" Zeke comments as he shakes his head knowing his cousin was digging her heels in.

"Well we aren't going to figure this out tonight" Shauna sighs.

"You are right, Zeke, Will, Can you get him upstairs in the bed, I need to take Pharoah out. Shauna, do you mind helping me clean up?" Marlene instructs.

"Will he be alright tonight?" Shauna asks after Will and Zeke come back downstairs and Marlene comes back from taking the dog out.

"He's passed out, I left a trash can by the bed in case he gets sick again"

"Will and I will stay with him tonight. Call me tomorrow?"

Shauna nods as she and Zeke gather their things and head out the door. Marlene sighs and Will pulls her into an embrace before they head up to the guest room for the night.
