A week later Miranda walked with Callie to the hospital from the parking lot. They decided to enter in through the pit before changing.

"So when are you going to start dating again." Callie asked.

"I'm not and don't start." Miranda responded.

"But Bailey. I think I know someone and he-

"Stop right there -

"Watch out watch out." Callie yelled.

"What the?"

Callie pulled Miranda close by her as the car tires screeched. Almost missing Miranda's body by two inches.

The man in the back seat was pushed out of the vehicle and they heard the other men shouting. "Go go go." As they pulled off.

"Bailey Pin point pupils."

"Yeah, get some narcan, a crash cart and some O2. I think we have an OD." Miranda yelled to the residents as they ran off. They quickly got him up and on the crash cart in the inside. Miranda made sure he was stable and she was checking his vitals.

"I thought you would have been in or 3 by now." Richard asked walking up.

"I've been busy. His buddies almost ran me over in the ambulance bay as they shoved him out the car. Opioid over dose."

"What's happening in o.r 3?" Miranda asked.

"First intern surgery." Richard responded.

"Bailey we got two more."

"Over doses?" Miranda questioned.

"Yeah these two are regulars that usually shoot up in the park. I normally give them 1 can of narcan and then they wake up and refuse treatment. I'm gave them 3 this time and are still unresponsive." The EMT spoke and Miranda's eyes widen.

"Yeah it's a bad batch of something out there." The man said before walking away.

Miranda thought about the Detective instantly. She wondered if this had something to do with that Italian man.

Ever since Ben was here and told her that information. She had been skeptical with all the doctors that she worked with that wasn't her friends.

Miranda heard the radio about multiple suspected overdoses in the area and she went to Camille's room.

"Hi Camille." Miranda said as she walked into her room.

"Doctor Bailey. Good to see you." She said as she sat up a little.

"Is it possible for me to get Detective Warren's number. I have some information I want to give him." Miranda asked and Camille face changed into confusion.

Miranda looked around before whispering. "Multiple overdoses in the area. It's a bad batch of something out here and I wanted to see if it was connected."

"I could call him and let him know." She replied.

"I would like to speak with him." Miranda insisted and the woman nodded.

Miranda figured it was more to him and his partner's story and this just confirmed it. They had feelings for one another and she didn't know how deep they were.

Miranda enter his phone number into her phone and she hit dial as she walked out of the room.

"Detective Warren." Ben answered.

"You know. Detective. Detective Doctor Warren would have a nice ring to it if you used it." Miranda joked.

"Doctor Bailey." Ben greeted but also surprised she was calling.

"Yup the one and only. Hey I'm calling because there is so many drug over doses coming in and it's a bad batch. Do you think it's your guy. Narcan isn't even working on some of these people." Miranda whispered.

Ben smile. She already had a detectives heart. "I'll be there shortly to ask some questions but keep your ears open and listen around for something."

"Yes sir." Miranda said seriously but Ben knew she was joking.

"Alright I'll see you in a bit." Ben spoke before they hung up. She put her phone back into her pocket as she jogged back to the pit.

She looked around and gasped at all the people coming in. "A mass OD." Miranda said out loud in awe.

She walked through and she helped but also listening to everyone who talked.

Miranda was pushing a bed across the room when Ben walked in. She looked up and watched him as she paused. He was really a handsome man. He had on a white dress shirt with a dark blue tie. She saw the gun on his waist and his badge clipped to his belt. Ben connected eyes with her as he walked and he nodded his head in a greeting.

Miranda put her head down, so he wouldn't see her blushing.

She placed her patient in the appropriate place and then she went to go help others. Miranda looked over as two nurses whispered together. It was a male and female. Rumors were that the two was married.

Miranda walked close and she talked to a patient as she listened to them talk as well.

"It's out. We gotta report back to Big E and tell him the progress." The man whispered quietly. Miranda eyes widen and she quickly rolled this patient to the pit entrance.

"Take him to the clinic to be checked out. Watch out for later side effects." Miranda told a resident.

Miranda walked passed Ben and nodded her head telling him to follow her.

Ben walked behind her and Miranda pulled his hand into the supply room closet.

"It is Esposito." Miranda whispered.

"How do you know?" Ben whispered back crossing his arms.

"Two nurses. I heard before that they were married and when I saw them standing close whispering. I thought that was odd. So I went to "help" a patient." Miranda said using quotation marks and I heard them say.

"It's out We gotta notify big E of the progress." Miranda elaborated.

Ben smiled looking down at her. "Why are laughing this is serious." Miranda huffed confused.

"Nothing...good work Detective Doctor Bailey." Ben teased.

"Oh shut it and come on." Miranda said walking out.

"Get me their names and their work file here." Ben said and Miranda nodded her head.

Miranda walked back into the pit and looked up as Callie grabbed her arm.

"So you are already dating." Callie asked smiling

"What? Dating who?" Miranda remarked.

"That tall chocolate Detective." Callie stated nudging her arm.

"Oh please."

"Bailey give me a break. I saw the stares from across the room and you pulled him into the supply room Callie replied unconvinced as she crossed her arms.

"We are not dating." Miranda voiced firmly.

" I just refuse to believe you." Callie laughed.

"Okay believe what you want but we aren't." Miranda said walking away quickly.

Miranda continued working for the rest of the day until night fall. She changed back into her clothes ready to go home.

Ben saw Miranda walking out and he handed her a cup of coffee.

"Thanks." Miranda said sipping it.

"How did you know I liked my coffee this way."

"I'm a detective. I pay attention" Ben answered chuckling.

Miranda blew out a breath and leaned against the wall.

"This world is so scary. No matter how well you raise you kids. No matter how much you give them. It's a scary scary world."

"Yeah...it is, but it's beautiful too." Ben replied.

"Mmmm."

"When you descend into the fear and miss the beauty that's when you start to go to a bad place and need an escape."

"I'm not going to do drugs." Miranda remarked confused as too what he was implying.

"I know." Ben chuckled as he walked over to the bench.

"Just sit here in the beauty with me." Ben sat patting the seat beside him.

Miranda paused looking at the moon.

"I'll go undercover with you." Miranda told him blowing out a breath.

"Really." Ben asked shocked.

"This world is scary and if I can do something to make it a more beautiful place. I should." Miranda admitted.

"Okay great. I will call you on Monday with more information and when everything will take place and start.

Monday came and Miranda met with Ben for breakfast. "Good morning." Miranda greeted cheerily.

"Good morning." Ben replied sitting down in the booth.

"Alright so the two of us are a couple that have been together for about 5 years. The new position as Chief of general surgery opened up and you took the job so, we made the move from Oregon.

"Wait a minute Chief of General surgery." Miranda clarified as her ears perked up.

"Yes " Ben smiled.

"Wow this is great. I'm only a first year attending and now I'm a chief. This is just good. I love to be in charge." Miranda spoke enthusiastically.

"Mmmm-hmm so I'm taking a job as Anesthesiologist there too."

"Where is there.?" Miranda questioned.

"UCLA."

"Holy shit." Miranda smiled.

"Yeah, these are our cars, house-

"That's a nice house." Miranda awed looking at the two story house.

Ben nodded. He liked it too.

"Cyber team put these together." Ben said pulling out their marriage certificate and a bunch of wedding photos."

"Wow." Miranda mused looking at the photos.

"Hey our names are still the same." Miranda pouted looking at the marriage certificate.

"Yeah. It's easier to just change my last name to Williams and keep yours the same. That way. If you are looked up we can still see your work history and what not. We kept you being married before and having a son but your husband has full custody, so you can go visit him and it won't look weird because sometimes these undercover operations last longer than what we expect and I still want you to see your child" Ben added and Miranda nodded.

"She really couldn't believe she signed up for three to four months away from her baby."

"Well new names would have been funnier." Miranda pouted.

"You are funny." Ben expressed laughing.

"Oh and lastly. Here are our rings." Ben added pulling them out of the folder.

Miranda's eyes widen at the huge 7 carat cushion cut ring. It was beautiful.

She smiled sliding on her marital band that was lined with diamond and then her rock of a ring.

Ben and Miranda ordered the food before talking more to get to know each other.

"It sucks that I can't tell my friends the whole ordeal. Like how do I just explain that I'm up and moving taking a job and got married. This is going to crush them. Especially Richard. He my mentor and my work husband. He not going to understand this what's so ever." Miranda said blowing out a breath.

"I know and I have to tell my brother." Ben stated.

"Do you want me to come with you. While you tell them." Ben asked and Miranda nodded.

She knew that some of them saw him as a detective. So how would this really work.

Miranda put together a dinner at her apartment. She wore a flowy black dress and her hair was curled.

Miranda walked to the door, listening to the persistent knocks.

"Hey." Miranda smiled as Ben came in. She looked him up and down admiring his khaki pants and black short sleeve button up shirt.

"Hey how are you. Nice place you got." Ben complimented.

"I'm doing great, nervous but come on in." Miranda said as she lead him to the living room.

Soon everyone filled the house and were sitting around the dinner table. Miranda noticed that everyone was eying Ben as they ate and she finally wanted to break that silence.

"Uh I brought you all here because I wanted to you meet the special someone in my life. You all will be confused and not understand a lot of it but I have exciting news and some news that's a hard pill to swallow. But I want you all to be understanding."

Everyone looked at her once more before she cleared her throat.

"I would like you all to meet my Husband Benjamin Williams." Miranda announced and Ben reached for Miranda's hand giving it a light squeeze.

"What." The crowd spit out simultaneously.

"Yes my husband." Miranda repeated as she flashed her ring and lifted Ben's hand to show the same.

"Since when?" Callie asked crossing her arms.

"Since-

"We've been married for about six months now and have dated for six months prior to that." Miranda explained.

"Miranda this doesn't even sound like you." Richard said concerned.

"But it is me it may not sound like it but that's the truth and I also have some more news...Ben is originally from LA and was an anesthesiologist. He wanted to get out of this dangerous field per my request and a job has opened up for him to be an anesthesiologist again. So I applied to UCLA and they are offering me head...well chief of general surgery. So we are moving as of next week." Miranda announced nervously.

"What. Miranda blink twice if you need help." Derek yelled.

"It was my decision and I'm completely happy. Now I just want you all to happy for me." Miranda stated and she looked over at Richard's misty eyes.

"Miranda I just can't believe this and I don't believe you. We are best friends. You never spoke of him. When I saw you two walking and staring. I asked and you said no. We have never even seen you all kiss, hug or do nothing. This is not real" Callie huffed.

"May I say something." Ben said firmly.

"I love Miranda Marie Bailey so much. When I saw this woman, I fell in love and she smiled at me because she knew. The best kind of love and relationship begins unexpectedly. She gave me that astonishing feeling, taking my breath away and everything happened so suddenly and now I know why my mother would always say don't go looking for love. It comes at the right time; the time you would have never thought it would have. When you feel a connection. A gut connection, a heart connection. It's a very special thing. I love Miranda. She's everything I could ever want in a woman. I fell in love with her and I know she feels the same way too. When she's around me, she's my best friend and she has no sense of time and that's rare for a surgeon but for me pagers, work, social media, reading, text, phone calls and all the news in the world doesn't matter anymore. She is the first thing on my mind in the morning and the last thing on my mind at night, I can go a day with out her but I don't want to and Miranda." Ben paused and she turned in her chair fully to look at him. He definitely was laying it on thick.

"You know that I love you so much" Ben said reaching out touching the side of her face, rubbing his thumb across her cheek as she nodded her head looking into his eyes.

"I make this solemn promise to you: To be your lover when you need to be loved, your doctor when you are ill, your army when you go to war, your umbrella when life rains down on you, your rock when you get weary, your shield when you need defense, your spirit when you are drained, your pillow when you need to rest, your voice when no one can hear you, your ear when no one will listen, your comfort when you feel pain, your hero when you are under duress, your sunshine when darkness falls, your answer when questions arise, your inspiration to overcome obstacles, your hand to hold when you are frightened, your kiss that wakes you every day, and your "I love you" each and every night." Ben said seriously and Miranda wanted to widen her eyes but refrained. He honestly was such a romantic and she would have never thought that either.

Ben leaned close to her and she leaned in nervously, Her lips gently touched his. Miranda drew back, an apology on her lips before he covered her mouth with his. He was nibbling at her lip and then tasting her mouth, hungrily. Their tongues met, parrying and weaving in a dangerous dance as he pulled her closer. A thumb slipped behind her and traced her spine, lighting her skin on fire. Ben's and Miranda's head swam. It was electrifying. It was passion. It was madness.

As suddenly as it started, it ended. Ben drew back, leaving her breathless. Miranda tried but she couldn't read his eyes. Did he feel what she felt?

Why was that kiss so good and dam she wanted to do it again.

Miranda tried to play off their first kiss as many, so she giggled.

"I think you almost topped your wedding vowels." Miranda voiced as she blushed.

"Really?" Ben questioned with a chuckled "Mmmm-hmm." Miranda nodded and pecked his lips again before they turned back and watched as everyone looked at them.

"I love him and I just want to be with him and be happy."

"What about Tuck?" Arizona asked.

"Well for right now he will be living with Tucker until we get stuff situated, but we are doing year and summer switch offs." Miranda answered.

After dinner Miranda walked her friends out and Ben stayed behind and cleaned up.

She talked to each of them and they seemed to finally take the information well.

Miranda walked back up to her apartment just as Ben finished loading the dish washer.

"Thank you for your speech. I think that put them at ease. You are good at being under pressure. " Miranda spoke.

"You did good as well. I will meet you at the airport on Monday and we will have a movers drive your clothes down and such." Ben responded.

"Alright. See you on Monday." Miranda said a she watched him leave and she shut the door.
