After work Miranda changed into a nice blue dress with black heels. She looked up as Ben came into the room with a suit on.

"You ready?" Ben questioned as he put his phone into his pocket.

"Yeah." Miranda responded putting her dangling earrings into her ear before taking his hand.

They walked to the cafeteria. It was nicely decorated for a work mixer. Different doctors were spread out all over.

Ben watched as everyone looked at them. He walked Miranda to a table and pulled out her chair letting her sit.

"Do you want something to drink?" Ben questioned.

"Yeah that would be great." Miranda replied and watched him stalk off.

"Hey Bailey"

Miranda looked up as Carlie came to the table. It was weird that she didn't see her posse with her.

"Hey how are you?" Miranda asked with a smile.

"I'm doing great. Are these seats taken?"

"My husband is going to sit on the right of me but the rest of these seats are fair game."

"Here honey I brought you a water and a soda." Ben told her as he sat.

Miranda smiled and squeezed his hand before telling him thank you.

"Ben this is Dr.Carlie Ricci Neuro and Carlie this is my husband Dr. Benjamin Williams Anesthesia."

"Nice meeting you." Ben greeted shaking her hand.

"Very nice meeting you as well." She responded as they shook hands.

Miranda took in Carlie's eyes and she did not like the way they looked looking at Ben. It was almost a hint of excitement in them.

"Um so Ricci? Is your husband Italian?" Miranda asked.

"My husband is American. His last name is Madison however, I'm Italian." She informed smiling. Both Ben and Miranda nodded.

"Ah, so what does your husband do?" Ben asked.

"He works with a pharmaceutical company." Carlie responded and Ben's ears perked up along with Miranda. Miranda rubbed her foot against Ben in a "I told you so" manner.

"Hi." Emily said coming up.

"Hey." Both Ben and Miranda said simultaneously.

"I don't know if you have met Tracy and Kim both are doctors from trauma."

"No I haven't but it's very nice to meet you." Miranda said politely as she extended her hand.

"This might be last minute but our doctors wives club is having an outing on Saturday. This way you can meet everyone in the group. We are probably going to go for drinks and dancing. Are you free?"

Miranda looked over at Ben searching his eyes. "Yeah baby you can leave me all alone." Ben teased.

"Alright I'm down." Miranda responded to the women.

They continued to talk through the mixer before the chief of surgery made his speech greeting and welcoming everyone.

Saturday night came and Miranda got ready.

She decided on a cheetah print bodycon dress with black heels. Her hair was curled and pulled to the side. She applied a little bit of makeup and her jewelry. She had to admit that she enjoyed putting on dresses and going out. She never did it because she was a shy teen and then she got married and rarely had friends in college.

Miranda grabbed her clutch and she filled it with her necessities.

Ben was in the kitchen when he heard the clacking of her heels on the hardwood flooring of the stairs.

He turned around but was not prepared for the sight before him. She was beautiful and he knew he shouldn't feel this way considering that he was engaged but it was nothing wrong with admitting and admiring the truth.

"You're beautiful." Ben said out loud and Miranda gasped than blushed.

"Thank you." Miranda responded nervously.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." Ben apologized quickly.

"No you didn't.. uh it's just I don't get those type of compliments..ever. but then again I guess I don't get dressed up either." Miranda laughed lightly.

"Miranda I would compliment you in scrubs. Those swear pants you had on when we were un packing. You were beautiful. You are beautiful, it doesn't matter what you have on."

Miranda felt her heart flutter and she shouldn't have that kind of reaction to his words but how could she not.

"You hear me Miranda. You are absolutely beautiful and I thought that when you first came up to me in the hospital waiting room. Surgical cap, scrubs and all." Ben assured her.

"Thank you Benjamin Warren." Miranda smiled. She knew she was beautiful. She never thought any different. Yeah in High-school she had insecurities that she carried with her but she realized that she wasn't meant to be liked by everyone.

"Do you want me to drive you?" Ben asked.

"No that's fine. I think I can manage. Plus I can hold my liquor." Miranda giggled as she walked out.

Miranda drove to Upscale restaurant and lounge and she parked and made sure she looked presentable before getting out.

She walked inside and she looked around. It was a nice restaurant and the dance floor was huge. She walked over to the bar and caught the bartenders attention.

"Hello beautiful, what can I get for you?" The bartender asked.

"A hurricane please." Miranda ordered with a smile. She waited for her drink and then she saw her coworkers/suspects and she walked over to them.

"Miranda. I'm so glad you could make it." Carlie raved and Miranda gave her a smile.

"So Miranda tell us about married life." Carlie asked and Miranda looked at all the other women who sipped their drinks.

"I'm sorry I don't believe I have met you three." Miranda smiled looking at them.

"I'm Amanda. I work at Santa Monica medical center." My name is Heather and I work there as well.

I'm Eliza and me 3." She smiled.

"Oh okay are you all married?" Miranda questioned.

She watched as the three nodded their heads.

"Wow that's great, well I've been married for about 5 years. I was previously married to an accountant and long story short we did add up together so we subtracted ourselves." Miranda laughed along with everyone else.

"I do however have a son with my ex husband and he is living with him full-time until I get situated here. My husband is an anesthesiologist and is the perfect man for me. I met someone who understands and loves me for me."

"Were you scared to get married a second time."

"Hell yes." Miranda said quickly laughing.

"He's was my best friend and quickly became my world and I know myself and that love dose not conquer all and I didn't want this marriage to fail. So I hesitated a lot."

"What made you know that you could do this."

"Uh when I thought about all the love that I could have and our future. I knew that I should take this chance and It was the best decision I ever made." Miranda answered and watched as everyone smiled and nodded their heads.

"So what about the sex?" Carlie asked enthusiastically.

Miranda's eyes widen and she looked at Carlie. This woman was clearly fascinated with Ben and she didn't understand all the questions about being married. She wondered if it was test or something.

"It's wonderful always have been. The spark in the bed room is still lit and goes off like firecrackers." Miranda answered swiftly blushing. She wondered what Ben would actually be like but she push that thought aside.

"So any talk about kids with him?"Emily asked.

"I did originally want just two kids. So one more was good with me but he wants four kids. Two boys, two girls and honestly I'll give that man all the babies he wants." Miranda laughed as she blushed.

"So do any of you want kids?" Miranda inquired sipping her cocktail.

She listened as a bunch of yes few her way.

"All them houses you have. You should want kids to fill them up." Amanda joked.

"Houses?" Miranda questioned looking at Carlie who the joke was about.

"Uh yeah me and my husband together have 5 houses.

"Rental property?" Miranda asked.

"No, they're luxury houses. We just spend time at each one when ever we have time."

"Oh okay wow. So do you have a lot of cars?"

"Yeah a whole lot " she chuckled.

Miranda's faced scrunched up and she made a mental note to tell Ben this.

"May I ask how. I mean we all have you know a 6 figure salary but it's not to that degree." Miranda said curiously.

"Uh me and my husband along with my family has a business." Carlie answered.

"Oh okay." Miranda said not wanting to seem to nosey.

"Well I need to get like you." Miranda commented.

"You can in due time." Carlie said sipping her drink.

"Yeah we all are on our second home and car now." The others chimed and Miranda nodded.

The group of women began dancing and drinking. Miranda honestly had a good time with these crooked women.

Looking at time she noticed it was almost 1 in the morning. Miranda looked at her phone and pretended to be reading a message.

"Well ladies my baby is at home missing me. Looks like I need to call it a night." Miranda chimed.

"Aww go and attend to your man. It was nice meeting you."

"Nice meeting you. We gotta do this again soon."

"Yess ooh Miranda why don't you have a house warming and show off that beautiful pool."

Miranda scrunched her nose up. How the hell did she know they had a pool and where they lived.

"You know I have pool? How do you know where I live?" Miranda asked concerned.

"Oh my realtor, me and my husband were looking at your house but you got to it before us and I wanted to know who had it and maybe we could persuade the couple." She said and Miranda nodded.

"Okay well sure I would love to have you all and your spouses over for a BBQ that way we all can get to know each other more." Miranda beamed fakely.

When Miranda got home she walked into the house and put her purse on the counter after dropping her keys into the dish. She pouted when she didn't see Ben sitting on the couch.

She walked up stairs as quiet as her heels would allow. Looking through the small opening in his door she saw that he was watching TV.

Miranda knocked on his door. "Come in." Ben said and Miranda gave him a small smile as she walked in.

"How was it?" Ben asked.

"Uh it was okay. Weird but okay." Miranda answered as she kicked her heels off. She sat on the edge of his bed.

"So did you find any new information?"

"Yeah so Carlie is definitely up to no good." "Her and her husband have five luxuries house with more cars. Now I know we are pretty well off but-

"We're not that wealthy." Ben cut her off.

"Exactly. Life style exceeds income. That's the number one reason why most drug dealers get caught. " Miranda added and Ben nodded.

"So we need to find out more about this husband." Ben said and Miranda nodded.

"We will- " Miranda paused as she leaned over laying on his bed.

"They kind of pressured me into doing a barbecue next weekend with all of the ladies and their spouses. I went with it because I know we need to get close to them. Plus I told her that I wanted to know how she was able to have all of them homes and she said I will in due time. I think they are getting comfortable with us."

"That's great Miranda." Ben smiled and Miranda smiled because his was contagious.

"Oh and Carlie is a little weird. Like she knew that we had a pool in our back yard and where we live. She let it slip out." Miranda added and Ben's eyes widen.

"It's almost like they are putting us through test too. Like they constantly ask me about our marriage." Miranda said blowing out a breath.

"Well how did you do with that?"

"I did good." Miranda responded before turning on her side.

"What are you watching?" She asked.

"Planet of the apes."

"Aww I love this. What channel is it on?"

"You could just watch it with me Miranda. I don't mind."

"Okay, I'm going to change my clothes and I will be back."

Miranda washed her faced, brushed her teeth and changed her clothes.

She decided on a tank top and night shorts.

When Miranda came into the room. She watched as Ben pulled the covers back and she slid in.

She took in how manly he smelled and the covers around her and it's been almost two years since she was in bed with a man and she honestly missed it.

Miranda watched TV with him and before the two of them knew it they were out like a light.
