"Ben!" Miranda cried out as her ears were ringing. She couldn't hear everything like normal, everything sounded off in the distance.
She heard screaming and crying and she saw a lot of commotion. Miranda felt like she was in slow motion.
She was now on the floor and she looked over to Ben. He was laying face forward and she saw blood.
Miranda saw Michael pull his gun out and she shot before she could think about it.
The FbI was in and so many people in chest vests were walking in arresting people.
"Ben." Miranda cried as she crawled to him.
She flipped him over on his back and looked at his eyes closed. Blood was on his face and the front of his shirt but she saw no bullet holes anywhere. She checked his pulse and his breathing and it was fine. He was just out cold.
"Benjamin." Miranda yelled loud as she tapped his face multiple times. Everything happened so fast. She didn't know what the hell happened to him.
Miranda analyzed him and she saw the redness of his scalp. The dam guy must have hit him with his gun in the head before he went down.
Miranda looked over at that man and she couldn't believe that she shot that man in the head. She killed someone and she thanked God he was taller than Ben allowing her to do it.
"I need a medic." Miranda called out as she treated him like a spinal injury. Both of her hands were on the sides of his neck, keeping it aligned."
They eventually came and stabilized his neck and Miranda told him his heart and breathing rate.
Miranda followed them out side and she looked at Carlie who hands were behind her back with cuffs as they put her inside the cop car.
Miranda got into the ambulance with Ben and she sat on the seat staring at him.
Ben opened his eyes, his vision was blurry and he saw white light over top of him.
He turned slightly and he couldn't make out the woman but he was sure it was Miranda from the color of the dress she was wearing and the familiar feeling he got from being in her presence.
"Close your eyes honey. We are on the way to the hospital. I know the light must hurt. Everything is okay. I'm okay and your okay." Miranda said looking at him struggling.
Hours later. Ben was fine, the doctor told him that he just had a mild concussion which caused the loss of consciousness.
"Whew that was a close one." Miranda blew out a breath as she held his hand.
Ben chuckled. "You saved my ass Miranda."
"And you saved mine. How were you able to fire two shots in the same exact spot like that?" Miranda asked seriously.
"I was trained." Ben said shrugging his shoulders.
"Well detective. I say we make a good team. I hate that we killed Carlie's father though." Miranda admitted.
"Why? He was talking about making you his and killing you. Nobody is taking you off this dam earth and they dam sure aren't taken you to be theirs either." Ben huffed clearly getting upset. Miranda could see his heart rate go up from the monitor.
"Calm down baby. I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere. You got me and will always have me." Miranda told him rubbing the side of his face staring at him.
"Did you go get checked out? How is she doing?" Ben asked.
"They did an ultra sound. She is good. My blood pressure was high but that was situational.
"Adira" Ben said thinking.
"Huh?"
"She's going to be strong, and brave like her mother. Adira means strong, noble, and powerful." Ben said looking up at Miranda.
"Ah-deer-ah" Miranda said slowly pronouncing it and testing it on her lips.
"I love it." Miranda proclaimed "and I think she does too. She kicked me"
Miranda stood and took Ben's hand placing it on the side of her belly.
"Ohh I felt it." Ben cheered at the tap against his hand.
A week later after everything came out into the news. Miranda received chief of general at Seattle and they were packing up their bags and house once again.
"Are you going to move in with me?" Ben asked.
"Yeah, I can do that because I don't want to go back to separate houses." Miranda answered.
"Great.
"Ben you still have to tell Camille about us and -
"I know and I am Miranda right when we get back home, I'm going to probably ask her to lunch and I can explain everything to her. I think she will be understanding. I didn't mean to love you but it happened over time."
Miranda nodded. " why lunch? Well when you first get back home can you take a weeks off and I will too, so we can get situated and I would love to spend time with you in Seattle as a couple." Miranda asked and Ben smiled.
"Of course."
"Plus I wanna go shopping for the baby and nursery and maybe we can look around for a nice house. Oh and I want to invite my friends back over to tell them the truth and they really get a chance to meet you and although you met Tuck, maybe get him comfortable with me and you living and sleeping together. " Miranda listed.
"Sounds like a plan." Ben responded with a smile.
Miranda and Ben packed everything up and had the movers move everything back to Seattle before flew back.
Miranda was overjoyed to be back home. She picked Tuck up from the daycare and drove to Ben's house.
"Hey baby." Miranda said opening the door.
"Hey babe and hi Tuck." Ben smiled.
"Hi." He responded with a wave.
"Do you want to show Ben your spaceship you made today?" Miranda asked excitedly watching Tuck nodded his head fast pushing his paper spaceship out for Ben to see.
"Oh my, that is so good...good job buddy." Ben responded giving him a high-five.
They ate dinner and Miranda listened as Ben and Tuck talked back and forth about cars, trucks, dinosaurs, paw patrol and what ever came to his mind.
After dinner Miranda washed Tuck up and did his bed time routine.
She looked up and stopped reading as Ben stood at the door.
"Ben the train." Tuck said excitedly.
Ben came into the room and he got on his knees looking at Miranda as she read.
"Say it with me. I think I can, I think I can." Miranda chanted and smiled as both Ben and Tuck repeated.
Eventually Tuck was sleep after another bathroom break. Miranda slid her hand into Ben's as they walked to their bedroom.
"You're a great mother." Ben complimented.
"Thank you." Miranda smiled as she walked to change her clothes. She grabbed her stretch mark cream and lifted her shirt up as she rubbed it across the sides and top of her breast before reaching her stomach.
Ben looked at her intently. He grabbed her feet and began to massage them firmly. Miranda sighed grateful. "Believe it or not Tucker didn't do stuff like this when I was pregnant."
"I'm sorry but I'm convinced he was and idiot and selfish." Ben stated and Miranda laughed.
A couple days later Miranda moved around the kitchen cooking breakfast.
She looked over as Ben's phone rung.
"Babe it's yours." Miranda called out and watched him walked into the living room with pajama pants on and nothing else.
"Detective Warren." He said answering.
"Hey Chief." Ben said recognizing who it was.
"Warren we need your help. I don't understand. Even though Esposito is dead and everyone is in jail. There is more activity with these drugs coming through hospitals."
"I don't understand how? Everyone we were investigating was at the warehouse. It doesn't make sense. " Ben replied.
Miranda's ears perked up listening to him talk as she poured milk into her coffee. Before putting it to her lips.
"Excuse me for a second." Ben said into the phone. "Miranda what are you doing?" Ben asked seriously.
"What!? I can have a tiny amount. I'm a doctor I know what I'm doing."
"Take a few sips and leave the rest for me." Ben replied seriously and Miranda clicked her teeth but nodded.
"Okay sorry about that." Ben said going back to the phone.
"We need you to go out to New York. Kind of the same thing as you did in LA."
"Chief I just got back. Can't you pick someone else." Ben asked and Miranda's eyes widen upset that she couldn't hear the other end.
"Okay, I understand." Ben said hanging up and sighing as he rubbed his face.
Miranda looked at him waiting to know what was asked of him.
"There are still drugs and the same activity but in New York. Captain thinks that it's one person missing. Maybe he had a secret partner or something but he wants me to go out to New York for-
"No." Miranda said firmly. "Miranda I
"You know what, I'll just got with you." She stated and it seemed as if her mind was made up.
"Miranda you can't. You're already five months and we are not risking that." Ben said and Miranda shrugged her shoulders not caring.
"Well why can't they find somebody else. It doesn't even make since. We were on the operation almost 9 months. Like they know I'm having your baby right."
"They asked for me because I've been over this case for so long. I already know what to do and what I'm looking for. Others would have to take time to be up to date and stuff like that. This is my case." He explained.
"This is your case." Miranda huffed gesturing to herself and her belly.
Before Ben knew it tears were in her eyes. "So, you're not even going to be here for the birth of our baby. I didn't make this baby alone."
"I won't ever missed that. You still have 4 months left. If you go into labor call me and I will be on the quickest plane to you and baby I don't even expect to be gone more than four months. "
"How are you going to know. You're not supposed to have no contact with anyone other than the people you meet while on an operation. So we won't be able to talk. If I go into labor, I can't reach you." Miranda cried sniffing.
"Baby you have my heart." Ben said pulling her close. Miranda looked at his chest and then he reached for the necklace on top of her chest. "I will always come for you. I promise. I love you so much and the thought of not being with you and around you is killing me."
Miranda was still crying. She don't think she had ever been this upset. She wiped her eyes. " okay." She spoke softly before turning to walk to their bedroom.
"What about breakfast?" Ben asked.
"Wake Tuck up to eat. I'm just not hungry anymore." Miranda said as she walked off.
Ben sighed he hated his job and when this was over he was thinking about going back into medicine.
Miranda was sad for the last couple of months. She went back to work and that would take away some of the ache but as soon as she got home and realized that Ben wasn't there and she hasn't heard his voice, seen his face. She didn't know if he was okay or what the hell he was doing. It was miserable.
She ate dinner and then showered getting ready for bed.
Miranda laid down and she tried to sleep. She cut on the TV to look at something to occupy her mind. Tomorrow would be her first week of 9 months pregnant and she was uncomfortable to say the least. Her baby was everywhere. In her back, pelvis, bladder, she swore yesterday she kicked the hell out of her lungs and that wasn't even possible, but whatever she did it almost took her breath away. It was almost like she was rolling around trying to get comfortable.
Miranda looked over at her nightstand as her phone began to vibrate showing she had a text message.
Ben: Hey baby I'm home. Can you pick me up from the station. If that's too much I'll get a taxi.
Miranda texted back immediately as she sat up.
Miranda: oh my god. I missed you so much, of course I'm coming.
Miranda then quickly got up. She put on sweat pants and a sweat shirt to avoid the night chills of December.
She drove until she got to the parking garage. Miranda texted Ben telling him she was outside. She waited a while but he didn't text her back. She called his phone twice and still got no response.
"Where is he?" Miranda said to her self as she took her seat belt off, getting out.
She walked through the parking garage about to head for the station when a big thumping sound scared her. Miranda's heart race increased as she looked around but she saw no one.
"Miranda." A voice called out.
Miranda could make out who it was nor the direction it came from. It didn't sound like Ben but who would know her name.
"Miranda." The voice called out once more scaring her again making her drop her phone and keys.
Miranda squatted down to pick them up putting her hand up under her belly for support.
That's when it happened, Miranda felt a tug on her arms as she was pulled backwards. Miranda screamed at the top of her lungs. She reached for her necklace inside her sweat shirt. She couldn't even scream again as the person with black gloves on put a cloth over her mouth and nose.
Miranda struggled to hold her breath to not breath in the chemicals as she reached for her necklace once more and held onto the person hands trying to push it off if her.
It happened quickly everything turned into total darkness.
