"How is that possible?" My heart was racing so fast that if it went any faster it would explode. "It can't be her," I had spent a long time trying to put her memory out of my head, to forget her so I could be a better Commander, she couldn't be back now.
"I know," Five mutters. "But it is. Her story matches up with yours. This is so weird, but do you remember when Setrakus Ra told us about the second ship that left Lorien?" I couldn't forget that talk. Of course I remembered.
"Yeah," I nodded. "It's the only explanation that makes sense as to how I got to earth."
"Well you weren't the only garde on that ship," Five tells me. "There was girl, barely an infant, that had come over on that ship too. Her name is Ella, and she is the one that Beloved Leader had mentioned. His granddaughter."
"Is Ella," I paused. "Is she Melody?"
"No," He coughed for a moment before continuing. "Ella's too young, and she has been with the garde for a while. Ella is actually the one who made them all come here; in search of the Tenth. I don't think it's a coincidence that I found your sister here,"
"You mean," I paused, the wheels in my head spinning. "You mean what if Melody is garde too?"
"Yeah, it's possible right?" He prompts. "Your cepan could have had two of you, or maybe there was another cepan?"
"No," I shook my head. "It was just my Dad, Mel and me. Although he did tell us that our mother died. Could have been another cepan." I muttered.
"Well then she has to be the one that they are all looking for." Five laughs. "Nine seems to have a crush on her and they have been spending quite a bit of time together. Although, he hates pretending to be a human more than me so I don't think he even knows about her legacies otherwise he would have told the others about them by now so we can leave for his damn penthouse that he won't shut up about." The thought of Nine, of all people, being into my sister really made my blood boil. Well that is going to fucking stop.
"Do you think she has them?" I asked, thinking about the possibilities. "I mean, do you think she was able to develop them on her own?"
"I did," Five's voice gets quiet and I know he's thinking about how desperate he had been when his Flight legacy came to him. "Now that you have confirmed it, we can make a move to collect her before the garde realizes her potential. She knows nothing so they can't get a chance to influence her."
"Alright," I gulped. "So what's the plan now?"
"I think we just need to send in an extraction team, led by you," Five suggests. "A small group that won't draw too much attention. With your legacy, you shouldn't have any problems."
"Me?" I repeat, my mind buzzing at the thought of standing face to face with my long lost sister.
"Of course," Five scoffed. "She won't resist when she sees you. Hell, she'd probably take Nine out with whatever powers she has. Do not make a move against the other garde yet though."
"Are you sure?" I ask him. "We could move in with a large squad, take Melody and capture the others easily. Why wait?"
"No," He says quickly. "We are blowing up that fucking penthouse. After Melody is gone, I know that is where we will go. Nine won't shut up about it and he was a douche when he saved me, so that penthouse is going down. The look on his face when he sees it burning will be worth the wait."
"Alright that sounds like a plan. I can be there in a few hours," I tell Five, still not completely believing what is about to happen.
"I gotta go now, Nine is always questioning everything I do." Five says quickly.
"It's going to be weird to see her again. It's been years and everything is so different now. I'm so different. Mel and I were just kids when we were separated, what if she hates what I've become?" I muttered, but Five had already ended the connection so all I got in response was static. The phone beeps, and a single message appears. Cumberland, Vancouver Island.
I force myself to stand, my knees wobbling. That's where I need to go. Right now.
I almost vomited during the ship's ride to Canada, but I was able to keep it down using my telekinesis. It wouldn't have looked good for me to blow chunks on my first actual mission. My mind races with the memories of my younger years, when I had been carefree, prancing through the fields and forest with Melody. Will she even recognize me? Will she even like me?
"Commander Ten," One of the soldiers saluted me. "Commander Five has sent us coordinates to a park, where the target has been flagged."
"How many Garde?" I ask, my leg tapping the ground gently as I try to hide my nervousness.
"One," He answers. "Plus the target. Number Nine is with her." Nine. That bastard. Why is he so into my sister?
"He isn't to be harmed." I ordered, though I wanted nothing more than to smash his stupid face in. Five wants him for himself. "And neither is she. I will go in, extract the target, and return. If anything should go wrong, only then should you intervene. Is that understood?" I get a wave of, "Yes sir," and a few nods before I resort to staring out the window, avoiding their gaze.
"We're here, Commander." The pilot reports. They open a latch for me, and after taking a deep breath, I step down, using my telekinesis to break my fall and plant my feet firmly on the ground. Fighting my nervousness, I begin to stride towards the only two people standing in the field.
"Long time no see," I rasp, trying to make eye contact with Melody. I had thought about a million different ways that our reunion could go down, and go wrong, and had finally settled on a solution. Those words had sounded a lot better in my head than they did out loud. "We have a lot of catching up to do, but now isn't the time for that." I breathe, extending my arm towards my sister before she can say a word. "Sleep, Melody." Using my mind control, I reach out and feel her loric energy, grasping it and bending it to my will. She is Loric too, just like I always wondered!
"What's happen-?" she starts but her words are cut off short as her eyelids flutter and gravity takes control of her body. Catching her with my telekinesis, I slowly lowered her to the ground. Nine stands at her side with an astonished look on his face as he tries to grasp his current situation.
"Well, Number Nine." I grin, he seems confused that I know his identity so I continue. "It's nice to finally meet you, face to face." He looks a lot older than the boy in the photo that hung in our room for so long.
"Who are you?" He hisses.
"How about we skip the introductions?" I suggest. "Stand aside, you will know who I am when the time is right. I haven't come here for you. Not yet, anyways," I grin. "You've already been claimed by someone else so I can't kill you." Five would never forgive me if I took his target from him. "But if you stand in my way then I can't guarantee that you'll walk away unscathed," I warned.
"Who do you think you are, speaking to me like that?" Nine hissed, stepping towards me. He had at least three inches on me, but I wasn't worried. "You have no idea what I can do,"
"Oh, I have a pretty good idea," I smirk, thinking back to the times Five had shared his file and reports on Nine. "Telekinesis and Anti-gravity," His face reveals his shock so I can't help but chuckle. "I don't see any walls for you to touch, and you don't have that pretty little staff that you like to carry around either. Now," I paused, taking a step towards him. "I'm going to give you one more chance to stand aside."
"Why do you even want her?" He scoffed, nodding to my unconscious sister. "She's just a human."
"You seriously don't know?" I raised an eyebrow towards him. Five was right, he is an idiot. "Wow, I guess you weren't as smart as I thought you were. You mean to tell me that you have been hanging around with her for weeks, and you never knew about her legacies?" He seems too confused to follow along. Let your stupidity sink in, Nine. "This whole time, Number Ten was right under your nose." He thinks she is Ten, so we will let him keep thinking that for now.
"She doesn't have the scars," He scoffs.
"That's because she isn't connected to the rest of you," I retort, stepping towards Melody. Nine jumps into my path, a futile attempt to stop me.
"You aren't taking her," He snarls. Try to fucking stop me.
"I have given you your chance to stand aside," I yawn boredly. "Just remember that I warned you," I shot him a sinister smile before focusing my legacy, grasping his energy and sending a wave of pain to his brain. He stumbled to his knees, and I grinned in satisfaction, stepping past him so I could finally get to my sister. Bending down, I took a moment to examine her motionless body, taking in all the details of her soft, beautiful face. I couldn't stop myself from stroking her cheek, just to ensure that my eyes weren't playing a trick on me. I was really touching my sister. Taking her small body into my arms, I turned towards Nine.
"I'll see you again Nine. Real soon," I grinned before turning away from his writhing body, making my way back to the ship. I can't believe it. Melody is actually here, in my arms.
Thank you for reading! If you have read my other story, The Tenth Dot, then this is where that story continues on. If you haven't read it, check it out! It is in Nine's POV while the Garde are searching for Melody in Canada, so it will clear some things up from this story if you were confused. Please leave a review if you enjoyed the updates, or have any suggestions for future chapters :)
If you would like a check out the prequel, Last Days of Lorien, it tells the story of how Andy and Melody left the planet and came to Earth.
