As Luka slipped a simple silver band around Chloé's finger in the courthouse, he had made a joke that they "had to be friends now". Chloé had laughed before putting his golden ring onto his finger. Both wedding bands were paid for by Chloé of course and chosen for their inconspicuous-ness. They had skipped the kiss - they weren't that into it - were announced husband and wife, signed a couple papers - Chloé signed now as Chloé Bourgeois-Couffaine, not that anyone would ever know - and boom they were done.

Outside the courthouse, Chloé bid goodbye to her father as he got in a limo and then turned to Luka.

"Now what," he asked her.

"I don't know. It was pretty boring actually. Want to go back to the party?"

"Definitely not. Want to go get something to eat?"

"Sure."

And that's how Luka Couffaine and Chloé Bourgeois found themselves sitting in a tree, eating sandwiches and discussing the rules for their new marriage.

"Obviously we won't live together but do I have 'wifely duties' I need to do?"

"Well as your husband, I won't make you do anything if you don't make me do anything. But we should at least try to talk to each other every once in a while."

"Good idea, I guess. What's one more friend? Only downside is that you won't do everything I ask you to."

"Hey, as long as you return the favor, I'm cool with whatever you want."

"What about Frates?"

Luka took a bite out of his sandwich before shooting Chloé a very confused look.

"Frates? Friend dates! I can drag you shopping with me one week and the next we can do whatever it is you do. But like as friends."

Luka swallowed his bite of sandwich.

"Actually it would be as husband and wife," he teased.

"Whatever it's just a stupid title," Chloé shot back.

"Frates sound good," Luka agreed.

The thought that neither of them had every really met before hadn't crossed their minds at all. They had never even had a conversation before but now they were married and planning to hang out with each other on a weekly basis. They had been drawn to each other. What Chloé didn't know is that the moment their eyes met the first time, while she felt total calm and quiet, Luka heard a symphony of instruments going off in his head, creating the most beautiful music. Even prettier than Marinette's. He was just as intrigued by Chloé as she was by him.

"No secrets between us," Chloé added. "I may be a better person but I still strive to be better than everyone at everything and that includes Marinette. After all...we're kind of...a team now."

Chloé felt awkward saying out loud but she was kind of right. Being the only two people who knew a secret had a way of making the other person feel...closer. More intimate in a weird way. It was similar to what Ladybug and Chat Noir had. They were the only two people in the world who could really understand what life for the other was like and that made their relationship special. Chloé and Luka, while there was no meaning behind the title, were married now and they were the only ones who knew. That was what made their relationship special.

"Like partners in crime," Luka asked out loud. He liked the sound of it.

"Um, yeah," Chloé agreed.

"So what's your deepest, darkest secret, your royal highness?"

"Well mine isn't so much of a secret. Her name is Queen Bee."

"Same, everyone knows I was a miraculous holder too. That one is kind of out of the bag."

"See, we're already super good at this."

"Anything else you need to tell me?"

"I'll let you know if there is," Chloé assured.

Another moment of comfortable silence. As they were sitting, Luka was trying to figure Chloé out in his head. Out of every person he could have found himself in this situation with, Chloé was not it at all. He began wondering what on Earth had possessed her to want to get married to a total stranger. From the little he knew about Chloé, she had complete control over her entire life, so the claim that this marriage was a chance for them to be in control was a little out of character. She could control and manipulate any aspect of the world around her. Every aspect except for Adrien. Chloé could control people whenever she wanted and felt like it, she just had to drop her father's name and everyone was forced to do whatever she wanted or else. But not Adrien. His father was arguably more powerful between the two dads due to his immense wealth and notoriety across the world. Not only that, even though they were childhood friends, Adrien never put up with any of Chloé's antics. If anything, there were times that Luka wondered if Adrien actually liked Chloé at all.

When Luka thought about it that way, it kind of made sense. The one time there was something she couldn't manipulate in her favor, the one time she chose not to try to control it, she got hurt. So what did she do? Something insane and totally reckless. But still, it was something that she could pull the trigger on. And they had done it.

Luka himself was a very chill guy. He went with the flow of things. But still, this one was kind of crazy. His mom would flip if she knew. Not to mention his sister. She never had ay nice things to say about Chloé. Luka had married his sister's bully. That sounded bad. He just couldn't get over her song in his head. It was heard to escape when it sounded like that. It was just so beautiful, he couldn't even describe it. It sounded like hope and redemption but also sadness and longing. It sounded like a gorgeous sunny day, but also a quiet thunderstorm. When he had seen Marinette and Adrien kiss, the song in his head got all jumbled up. There were flats and sharps and sour notes that shouldn't have been there. It had been too much and he had to get out of the room. But the second he locked eyes with Chloé it was like an explosion of symphonic melodies that gently quieted to the amazing song he heard around her and it exploded again every time they met gazes.

So, when she had suggested they get married and the music began to reach it's peak again, he couldn't resist going along with it.

"So...about school," Chloé spoke up. "We shouldn't hang out at school."

"Why? Worried I'll ruin your reputation," Luka teased but he knew it was true.

"Duh! Plus we agreed this would be a secret and if we started hanging out all of a sudden while wearing rings out of the blue, people would catch on."

"So do you want it to be a secret because it's better for your reputation, or because it's more fun," Luka asked, wondering if he actually wanted to know.

"Well, I rather not be getting glares from your sister while I'm trying to ignore class. I feel like people would be mad about it."

"You're not wrong. People don't generally support people getting married after such a short time even if they are in love," Luka agreed. He crumpled up his sandwich paper as he finished the last bite. Chloé adjusted herself on the tree branch. Luka had given her his jacket to sit on when she fretted about her white pants. Without it, she could actually see the half sleeve of tattoos he had on his right arm. She had heard rumors about them but never seen them.

"Not to mention the obvious issue..."

"Which is?"

"I'm a minor and you're an adult. Even if it is only one year apart. In general, people don't really agree with that."

"I hadn't even thought of that," Luka admitted. Chloé finished her sandwich and balled up her paper as well.

"Well it's a good thing you have a partner who thinks of everything," she joked as she began climbing down.

"Yeah I suppose it is."

"Why on Earth do I feel so nervous," Chloé muttered to herself in her limo.

"What was that, Chloé," Sabrina asked from her place next to Chloé.

"Nothing! Who asked you?"

"Sorry!"

Chloé looked out the window as they approached the school. She couldn't understand why her stomach was flopping. Well sure, she knew what it was about but she didn't know why her sudden elopement would give her any reason to worry. No one knew. It wasn't like she was going to step out of her car and everyone would point and know immediately. Or would they? Maybe wearing a ring wasn't such a good idea. When Luka had asked her about why she was so adamant about getting rings Chloé had responded with "well I need some sort of reminder that you exist when you're not around". Luka had laughed at that and then told her his ring size.

In truth, Chloé loved the idea of wedding rings. She really always had. It was something special you shared with your spouse, like a secret that people saw but didn't truly know. And even in a room full of complete strangers, everybody would be able to tell. That was what worried Chloé. She wore rings before obviously, but a wedding band was a little more obvious and people would probably ask questions. Chloé was a lot of things, but a good liar was not one of them. One well aimed question and she was done for.

But Sabrina hadn't noticed yet. And as simple minded as she was, Sabrina was very observant when it came to Chloé. That gave Chloé a little bit of hope. As the car pulled to a stop, and Sabrina opened the door Chloé took a deep breath. She stepped out of the car, swishing her ponytail like she normally would.

She made her way up the school steps. She was so focused on trying to make sure that nobody noticed her wedding ring or that anything was different that she forgot to insult people. This was what brought more attention to her. Students expected a scathing remark or a hurtful comment but instead they were just passed by.

"Um, Chloé, are you okay," Sabrina asked.

"Of course I am! Why wouldn't I be?"

"So this doesn't have to do with Marinette and Adrien?"

At those words, Chloé stopped dead in her tracks. She had forgotten about Adrien and Marinette. Sabrina breathed in sharply and Chloé slowly turned, afraid of what she might see. She wished she hadn't looked. Adrien and Marinette were holding each other close in a tight embrace right in front of the school. Everyone was cooing or awing, saying such nice things about the couple. They then separated, kissed, then walked hand in hand toward where Chloé was standing.

Chloé who felt like she was about to cry. She tried to hold it back since she was in front of so many people but it was too hard. It was hard seeing them again, having what she wished she could have. A single tear went down her face.

"So gross aren't they Chloé," Sabrina grumbled. But when she turned to look at her friend, she wasn't there. "Chloé?"
