"How on Earth did you manage to do that," Chloé asked as they exited the theater. She held a tissue in her hand that she was using to wipe tears of joy from her face.

"Well, initially it involved a check and lot of zeroes. But once I pulled out our marriage certificate and I proved that I was indeed the mayor's son-in-law, they gave me a discount."

"You must have spent a fortune on tonight. I'm supposed to be the big spender in this partnership," Chloé grumbled.

"Eh it didn't cost much. Just my bike savings."

Chloé stopped dead in her tracks.

"Your what?! Your savings for your motorcycle?! Luka-"

"Before you say anything," he interjected quickly, gently grabbing her shoulders, "I want you to know that I thought about it for weeks leading up to this. I weighed every pro and every con. It wasn't a split second decision. But I can get a bike whenever. This was once in a lifetime and you're worth it."

"But why," Chloé asked quietly. He moved his hands from her shoulders to cup her face.

"Because Chloé..."

"Luka, I..."

This was it, they were about to say it. They were about to tell each other the truth about their feelings. Key words being "about to". Chloé and Luka both looked up, their eyes widening at the person they each saw behind their spouse. Two people they definitely did not want to see at that moment.

"I got Marinette at six' o clock," Luka said quickly and quietly, not taking his eyes off of Marinette.

"I got Adrien at twelve o' clock," Chloé added, tracking Adrien's movements.

"Distract them and then loop around to the right side entrance," Luka muttered.

"I'll have the limo waiting," Chloé agreed.

"And break!"

The two swiftly separated as a crowd milled around them, using the people as a cover.

"Oh my gosh, Adrikins!"

"Yo, Marinette, what's up!"

"Oh my gosh, Adrikins!"

"Chloé, what are you doing here," Adrien asked as his childhood best friend walked up to him. "I didn't think something like this was your idea of fun."

"Well, you know me Adrien! Any excuse to dress up. But I could say the same for you. Was this your dad's idea?"

"Actually, I'm here with Marinette."

Chloé had that figured as soon as Luka said her name. Those two were practically attached at the hip, it was lucky they had been separated, giving Chloé and Luka enough time to act fast.

"Aw, so sweet. You guys have been together what two months?"

"Yup, two months in a week!"

"So, that song at the end, was that your gift to her? I know you play piano," Chloé feigned ignorance. That question had been a little bit of a superiority thing. Chloé had gotten an amazing gift from Luka while Marinette hadn't. She knew that having such thoughts was an "old Chloé" thing to do but come on! Her husband had composed her a fucking piano concerto and got one of the most famous orchestras in the world to play it.

"I wish I had come up with something like that. Whoever that guy was must really love his wife."

Chloé looked down at her wedding ring and smiled fondly.

"I'm sure he does."

"So where's Sabrina" Adrien asked. Chloé snapped her eyes up to him and raised an eyebrow.

"Sabrina?"

"Yeah. You didn't bring her?"

Chloé fought every urge to cross her arms and jut out her hips.

"No, why would I?"

"Well aren't you two together?"

It took every bone in Chloé's body to stop her jaw from dropping. After all of the time that he and her had spent being friends, he not only never picked up on her very obvious feelings for him, but he also thought that she was batting for the other team?

"Oh look, there's Marinette now! And she's with Luka!"

Chloé felt her stomach drop as Adrien waved them over.

"Shit," she muttered as she turned to be face to face with her husband.

"Yo, Marinette, what's up!"

"Oh hey, Luka! What are you doing here?"

Luka smiled awkwardly and rubbed the back of his neck.

"You know me, music is my thing! What about you?"

"Oh, I'm here with Adrien! He thought this would be the perfect date idea!"

Adrien and Luka had always had one thing in common, they were both romantics at heart. Adrien was always just better at expressing it than Luka was.

"What was your favorite piece," Luka asked.

"The very last one! The one that the man wrote for his wife! It was so beautiful and perfect for the orchestra. That woman must be so lucky to have a husband who would do something like that for her! They must be so in love!"

Luka looked down at his ring. He couldn't help but smile at the thought of Chloé's face when she realized what was about to play. The pure joy on her face, the disbelief that someone would actually go to such a length for her, the love and adoration in her eyes.

"Yeah, totally."

"I have to say, I'm really surprised to see you here," Marinette said suddenly.

"What, why," Luka asked, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Seeing this orchestra is on my bucket list."

"Well, I thought you only knew about rock music. This thing is more Adrien's speed. He plays the piano."

Luka fought to not let his disbelief and slight offense show. They hadn't been dating long but in all that time, she never once heard him talk about anything but rock? He found that hard to believe. Hell, he and his sister talked about the difference between arias and recitative on the daily. Had she just never paid attention?

"Oh come on, I see Adrien! Let's go say hi!"

Luka's heart sped in his chest when he remembered just who was with Adrien, but before he could get away, Marinette had him in her grasp and was dragging them over.

"Shit," Luka mumbled as he came face to face with his wife.

'Okay', Luka and Chloé both thought at the same time. 'Play dumb'.

"Who's this," they both asked at the same time.

'Not that dumb!'

"Wow, Chlo, you've never met Luka before," Adrien asked. "Luka Couffaine, Chloé Bourgeois."

'Couffaine' Luka and Chloé both corrected in their heads.

"My name is Chloé and clearly not. Hi, Luka, it's nice to meet you." She couldn't sound more forced.

"Likewise Chloé." Luka was pretty sure he hadn't actually moved his mouth once while saying that. They reached out to shake hands but quickly realized they were going to shake with their left, panicked because of the rings, and quickly moved to shake with their right hands.

"Luka and I used to be a thing a long time ago," Marinette explained to Chloé.

"Yeah like two months ago," Chloé muttered to herself.

"What was that?"

"Nothing!"

"Yeah! And Luka, I've known Chloé forever. We know practically everything about each other!"

"Not everything," Luka grumbled under his breath.

"Did you say something?"

"Nothing!"

"Say, Luka, do you have a girlfriend now," Marinette asked.

Chloé and Luka really hoped that the other couple hadn't seen them both stiffen and internally panic at the same time.

"Why do you ask, Marinette?"

"Well Alya was wondering about it a couple months back. Plus I've heard Juleka talking about some mystery girl."

"There's no mystery girl," Luka answered stiffly. "She's just a friend!"

"Oh boy, I've heard that one before!"

"Shut the fuck up Adrien," Chloé mumbled to him. Her blond turned to look at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Chloé are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm just feeling a little queasy. You know, all those drums just really screwed with my stomach. I'll be fine once I get my medicine that's at the right side entrance of the theater. Right now. I have to go there right now."

It was probably a good thing she never got to keep the Bee Miraculous. She was really awful at coming up with excuses.

"Oh, let me help you then," Adrien offered.

"No," Chloé and Luka snapped at the same time, attracting the attention of a few people around them.

"I mean, you guys are clearly on a date," Luka intervened. "I can take her, we wouldn't want you two to get separated. Enjoy your night!"

Marinette and Adrien watched as they awkwardly departed, standing in the middle of the grand staircase wondering what the hell had just happened.

As soon as Chloé and Luka rounded the corner and were positive they were out of sight they let out a huge sigh of relief.

"That was..."

"...the worst."

They made eye contact and could not stop themselves from dying with laughter.

"Come on, let's go!"

"That was so, so bad!"

"I told Adrien to shut the fuck up!"

They laughed all the way to the car and as soon as they were situated and the laughter had died down, they let themselves begin to worry about the real things on their mind. There was an awkward silence that followed the end of their laughter. Chloé set her hand down on the space between them, reaching as far as she could to find Luka's hand.

They were worried about how the other person felt after seeing the previous object of their affection. Because each of them were only pretty sure that the other loved them, and they were worried that seeing their old crush changed their mind.

"So," she muttered.

"Yeah," he agreed. He finally set his hand down on hers and comfort immediately washed over both of them. "How was it seeing Adrien again?"

"It was fine. Until he told me that this entire time he thought I was dating Sabrina."

Luka's eyes widened.

"What?"

"Yup. Not only did he never even catch a hint of my feelings for him, he didn't even know that I was interested in guys." Luka scoffed in disbelief and he shook his head slightly. "It's like this entire time I've seen him as this amazing, unreachable person, but the thought of considering me never even crossed his mind... How did things go with Marinette?"

"About the same," Luka admitted. "She said she was surprised I even liked that kind of music and then switched the subject right over to Adrien. I kind of realized that the entire time that we were together, she was only ever focused on him. Not me."

It was kind of eye opening to them. They had always been so hooked on these people, excusing any and all bad behavior and insisting it was them that they wanted. When in reality, it was clear that they didn't belong with Adrien and Marinette at all.

"You know what the worst part is," Chloé spoke up.

"Hmm?"

"They're still amazing people. Even if they hurt us, it wasn't to be mean or to get back at us, it wasn't even intentional. It would help if they were evil or had a purpose. Then we would have a reason to be upset with them. But no matter what happens, they will always strive to be good, and helpful and caring. We just drew the short end of the stick."

"Do you..." Luka had a hard time saying what he was trying to. Chloé wasn't sure she wanted to hear it. "Do you think it was bad of us to get married as a way to get back at them? Do you think that makes us bad people?"

Chloé felt her gut wrench as she squeezed Luka's hand. She would be lying if she said that thought never crossed her mind. She often wondered in their reasons for getting married were less about "fuck it, we deserve it, why not" and more about "I hope they find out and are hurt by it". In all honesty, she did not know.

The rest of the ride went by in silence. They both had a whole lot to think about. It had been a pretty overwhelming night in good ways and bad ways. They pulled up to Luka's home, positive that his family wouldn't notice. He got out of the car and then turned around to smile at Chloé. She knew what he was doing. He was telling her that they were okay. That even though they may have started out for the wrong reasons, they were the right ones now. Chloé smiled back.

"I'll see you at school, tomorrow," Chloé asked.

"Yes, yes you will!"
