The rest of the party rocked. Chloé drank as much as she wanted cause she didn't have to drive home. She vaguely remembered climbing onto a table with Luka and Sabrina and dancing her ass off. Since Luka and the "mystery girl" were a thing, they could be as handsy as they wanted. And boy did they get handsy. They were giving Juleka and Rose a run for their money.
But every good thing had to come to an end, and eventually it came time for Luka to take Chloé home. As soon as she had her helmet on, Luka removed the jacket from her, using it to tie her to him just in case. She was pretty drunk. He drove her home, helped her to her room and into her bed. He tucked her in and swept a piece of hair out of her face.
"You're the best thing that ever happened to me," he muttered. He gave her a kiss on the forehead, turned off the lights and left the room. As soon as he closed her door, he found the mayor waiting for him.
"How did everything at the school go," Luka asked quietly so he wouldn't wake Chloé.
"It went quite well. I think I scared the living daylights out of them, but they got the point. They know about your relationship with Chloé, but I can assure you they won't tell anyone."
"Chloé and I were talking it over, and we think we're going to go public about it once she turns eighteen." Luka crossed his arms and leaned against a wall. "Now that we're actually in a relationship."
"Finally," Andre sighed. "I was wondering how long that would take. You don't usually get married before you get together. But I really do think you two are good for each other."
Luka nodded and smiled. "I couldn't agree more. I feel like I've become less passive, but in a good way. I think she's taught me a lot about what becoming a better version of yourself means."
"It's not always a drastic change like the one you've influenced in Chloé. Sometimes it's little things. And clearly you two bring out the best in each other in your partnership. You make a very good team." He paused. "Quite frankly, I think you are possibly the best person my daughter could have chosen, and I am very grateful to have you as my son-in-law."
Luka smiled and then looked at the hand that Mayor Bourgeois had extended towards him. He took it and shook it firmly.
"M. Bourgeois, the honor is all mine."
"Chloé it's a shame you missed it! It was so cool!"
"Well, I had to leave early. But I'm sure someone has it on video."
"Oh, I do!"
Chloé smiled as she and the rest of her classmates gathered around Max's tablet. Everyone had been talking about the party last Friday night and of course, the mystery girl and Luka rapping "The Real Slim Shady" and then kissing in front of everyone was at the forefront of everyone's conversations. Especially now that Chloé revealed that she "hadn't seen it happen". Which was technically true.
Chloé watched as she and Luka did all sorts of weird dances while she rapped. He was definitely moving a lot less than she was but he was still dancing nonetheless. She watched them do a hip bump, which she hadn't remembered. She'd also been slightly tipsy when this happened. He took her hand in his and spun her once before helping her climb up onto the rail.
"This is the good part!"
Chloé watched herself fall to the first floor, being caught by all of the other people. It looked a lot less nerve wracking than it actually was. She had been so frightened when looking down, but it had been too late to turn back. She was glad she didn't, she ended up ranking it among the top five best moments of her life. She watched the crowd move her around in figure eights as she finished the last chorus. She watched Luka rush down the stairs and the party people move her body over to them. And then the kiss. It looked flawless or like it had been planned, practically seamless. She had to stop herself from giggling as Luka dipped her back and one of her bare feet came up off the ground.
"They look so in love," Rose cooed.
"You seriously have no idea who that is, Juleka," Alya asked. Her reporter sense was tingling.
"Nope. Luka never mentioned actually dating a girl before."
"That's because it's me!"
Oh.
Hell.
No.
The entire class turned to look at Lila who had been the only one not to watch the video. She was sitting at her desk with her arms smugly crossed.
"You?!" Chloé had to stop herself from making some sort of vomit noise. She pointed an accusing finger but other than that, she felt too sick to move at all.
"Yes, me! Luka and I have been seeing each other for a couple of months now but he wanted to keep it a secret because of Juleka! But I can't hide it anymore!"
Chloé looked around the class to make sure everyone wasn't believing it and holy cow they were. Marinette and Adrien looked slightly skeptical but less so than they normally did. And Chloé? She couldn't say anything to disprove her. Darn this sucked.
At that moment, Mlle. Bustier walked in.
"Good morning class! Did something exciting happen over the weekend?"
"Yes, Mlle. Bustier! Look at this video of Lila and her boyfriend!"
The class gathered around Max and Mlle. Bustier to watch the video again. Everybody except Lila and Chloé, who was now sitting in her seat. Mlle. Bustier immediately recognized Luka and then a girl that she presumed to be Chloé rapping from a second story catwalk.
"Wait...that's Lila," Bustier asked, very confused. She watched the girl jump into the crowd, still rapping.
"Yup! She and Luka planned this whole thing."
"Lila is dating Luka?"
When the class all hummed their agreement, Mlle. Bustier looked up at Chloé in confusion, knowing the truth about their marriage. The blonde just shook her head slightly and rolled her eyes. Bustier tuned back into the video to watch Luka and Chloé kiss. Judging by the ring on Chloé's finger and the matching one in the video, it was definitely Chloé and not Lila.
"How do you know that's Lila?"
"She told us!"
At this point, if Mlle. Bustier hadn't been completely convinced that Lila had sent the "anonymous email" before, she was now.
"Isn't Lila so cool?!"
The students walked back to their seats and Bustier couldn't help the small scoff that came out of her mouth.
"Yes, students. Lila is very brave and clearly has a boyfriend that loves her very much."
Mlle. Bustier shot a wink Chloé's way that went completely unnoticed by the rest of the class.
Lila walked into the girl's bathroom between classes and was scared nearly half to death by Chloé leaning against a sink waiting for her.
"Chloé? What's up?"
"You know good and well what's up."
Lila considered backing down for a second. She was always told to pick her battles and with how angry Chloé clearly was, she wasn't sure this was a fight she could win. But then again, Lila never backed down from a challenge.
"Chloé I have no idea what you're talking about. Please just tell me so we can be friends."
"Sorry, but I'm not going to be friends with anyone who lies about being in a relationship with someone else's significant other. You saw that video, he clearly is taken."
"Yeah, by me." Lila smirked. She put her hands on her hips smugly. Chloé had no way of proving that it wasn't Lila in the video. Checkmate. "That was me in the video."
"Stop lying! We both know it wasn't you!"
"You can't prove it."
"I sure as hell can," Chloé snapped without thinking. Lila must have seen her sudden change in attitude and drop in courage because she used it to her advantage.
"Oh yeah? How?"
Chloé wracked her brain for an idea. They had agreed that they wouldn't reveal anything until after she turned eighteen and if she told Lila now, everybody would know about their marriage. Then it hit her. The perfect way to expose Lila and humiliate her in front of as many people as possible.
"Come with me." She snatched Lila's hand and dragged her to the courtyard. After a quick scan, she was sure all of their classmates were there. She let go of Lila's hand and climbed up the stairs. "Hey everyone," Chloé called out. All of their peers looked up at her. "All of my classmates are invited to my birthday gala this Saturday! The dress code is black tie! I expect suits, tuxes and ballgowns!"
As the class all muttered eagerly about the party, Chloé strutted right up to Lila.
"That includes you. See you there."
"You did what?"
"Slight change of plans, I know. But what was I supposed to do?! She was claiming that she was dating my husband!"
Chloé paced anxiously next to the podium that Luka was standing on. They were in the middle of the final fitting for his brand new tuxedo for the party. One of the attendants pulled his jacket off and then his waist coat. He unbuttoned his collared shirt, taking that off as well, stepping down to stop Chloé from pacing.
"You took your shirt off because you knew it would make me stop didn't you," Chloé retorted.
"That, and if you didn't notice, the fitting is over and I need to put my normal clothes back on." Chloé went back to pacing as he changed his pants. "So what is the new plan?"
"Well, I figured we would do something big and very hard to misinterpret, I haven't worked out all of the bugs yet."
"Chloé..."
She stopped and snapped her eyes to look at him. "How would you feel if some random asshole started parading around the very obviously not true fact that I was his girlfriend?"
Luka finished zipping up and buttoning up his jeans. "I would be pretty pissed," he admitted.
"Exactly." She walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his torso. He put his chin on her head and hugged her back. "You're my husband. Forgive me for being possessive."
"It's okay," he told her. "I like it. Also you totally just hugged me because I'm not wearing a shirt."
"Shut up and help me come up with a plan."
