Hello everyone! I'm back with another story, this time a Naruto story! The idea came to me while I watched the episode where Naruto and Sasuke fight on the hospital's rooftop. I thought, what if Kakashi hadn't arrived on time and Chidori and Rasengan had hit Sakura? I've seen people who have explored this idea, but I also wanted to do that myself.

Disclaimer: Naruto doesn't belong to me. It belongs to Masashi Kishimoto.

NO PAIRINGS!

Remember, English is not my mother tongue, so I may have made grammar mistakes. Now, enjoy the story!

Sakura was going upstairs, running faster than ever. The reason? Naruto and Sasuke. They had gotten themselves into a fight. She was surprised when Sasuke had challenged Naruto so bluntly. She knew those two were rivals, but Sasuke was not the one to do something without thinking first.

Sakura was worried about both of them. Sasuke hadn't recovered completely, and she kept thinking about why Sasuke had smacked away the apples she was peeling for him. Naruto could be so impulsive sometimes, and he didn't even think before acting. But Sakura considered him her friend. She disliked Naruto at first, but then she realized she was wrong. Naruto was an idiot, but a good-hearted idiot.

She reached the rooftop and saw the two of them charging their attacks; Rasengan and Chidori.

–– STOP! –– She yelled, with teary eyes. It hurt to see her two teammates fighting against each other so mercilessly. They didn't have the intention to stop despite her pleadings.

–– NARUTO! SASUKE-KUN! ENOUGH! –– She yelled again, hoping that at least one of them paid attention to her words. But it was useless. Sakura felt tears slipping from her eyes.

–– STOP! –– She begged once again, but this time she started to run towards them. Both boys were on the air, willing to attack their opponent. Sakura was approaching them, and there was when Sasuke and Naruto realized what she intended to do.

Damn it, I can't stop it! The boys thought at the same time. Before they realized what was happening, they heard Sakura crying in pain.

She fell to the floor in agonizing pain. The boys widened their eyes at the sight before their eyes. Naruto's Rasengan had hit Sakura square on her stomach, while Sasuke's Chidori had hit her left shoulder.

Sakura was on the floor, with tears in her eyes caused by the sharp pain. Naruto immediately ran towards her.

–– SAKURA-CHAN! –– He yelled. He crouched down and took a hold of her right hand, which Sakura squeezed hard. She held onto Naruto's hand as if her life depended on it. Naruto was extremely concerned –– WHAT HAVE WE DONE?

Sasuke's usually stoic face was now showing concern. He walked towards Sakura at a fast pace and crouched down as well.

–– Sakura! –– The dark-haired boy called her name in concern. He felt incredibly guilty for having done that to her teammate. He hesitantly took her free hand, and he noticed Sakura squeezing his hand hard, but he didn't care right now.

Suddenly, a grey-haired man appeared from behind and started to run towards them.

–– WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? –– Kakashi asked, alarmed. He saw his student crying in pain. –– We have to bring her to Tsunade-sama as soon as possible!

The boys nodded as Sasuke picked Sakura up and carried her bridal style. They started running towards Hokage tower. They didn't have any time to lose!

–– Tsunade-sama! –– Kakashi called as he opened the door to the Hokage's office.

–– What happened to Sakura?! –– The Fifth Hokage asked as she frowned, demanding for an explanation.

–– Sasuke-teme and I were fighting and we had charged Rasengan and Chidori. Sakura-chan placed herself between us to stop us, but didn't have time to stop, so to make it short… we've hit her with our attacks… –– Naruto explained, almost muttering. Everyone could notice the guilt in Naruto's voice.

–– ARE YOU IDIOTS?! –– Tsunade yelled –– DON'T YOU KNOW WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO SAKURA?

–– It wasn't our intention to attack her! –– Naruto replied, panicking.

–– I can't heal her by myself… I need medical staff! I'm going to take her to the hospital! –– She spoke, hurriedly –– Kakashi, follow me! You two go home and make sure not to do anything crazy!

–– But Granny Tsunade… –– Naruto started.

–– You've done enough, don't you think?! –– Tsunade interrupted him –– Just follow my orders!

Kakashi and Tsunade ran off and Sasuke and Naruto stayed there, dumbfounded.

–– Teme… do you think Sakura-chan's going to be alright? –– Naruto asked, just to make conversation.

–– … I don't know –– Sasuke answered, honestly.

Naruto and Sasuke walked to the bridge which was team 7's usual meeting spot. Neither of them were speaking; they were staring at the floor, remembering what happened not so long ago.

Naruto didn't know what to think. Sakura was in danger, and it was (partly) his fault. He didn't know what he would do if he lost her. She was the first girl he ever cared about. She might have been rude with him sometimes, but he still cared deeply about her. In the end, she accepted him and started to support him, and Naruto was glad that he could call her his friend.

Sasuke was clenching his fist. He was frustrated with himself. Sakura had to pay for a stupid mistake of his. He wouldn't ever show it, nor admit it, but he cared about Sakura. She was there for him even if he tried to push her away. She was the first person who cared about him since the Uchiha clan massacre, and all he did to repay her for her kindness was pushing her away and hitting her with a Chidori.

Both boys were leaning on the railing, when suddenly Sasuke heard soft sobs coming from Naruto. He looked at him and found Naruto looking down, with tears in his eyes. He had never seen Naruto like that, and for the first time in his life, he sympathized with him. He knew what it felt like to lose an important person to you before your eyes, and he didn't know if he could stand to go through that again.

They stayed quiet for a while until they caught a glimpse of Kakashi running towards them.

–– Guys, there is news about Sakura! –– Their teacher said. The 12-year-old boys' heads shot up as they widened their eyes, giving Kakashi a 'please-tell-us' look.

–– It's been complicated, but she's stable now and she's out of danger.

Naruto and Sasuke sighed in relief. Naruto's sad tears were now replaced by happy tears.

–– I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! CAN WE GO SEE HER, KAKASHI-SENSEI?!

–– Yeah, but don't be so loud in the hospital…

Naruto, Sasuke and Kakashi walked through the hospital halls looking for Sakura's room. Suddenly, Kakashi stopped.

–– This is her room. I have to go now, but I'll see you tomorrow –– Kakashi said as he left.

Naruto gently knocked at the door.

–– Come in… –– Sakura's voice said softly. Naruto opened the door and got in, followed by Sasuke. Sakura smiled at both of them. –– Sasuke-kun, Naruto… I'm glad you're here.

–– Sakura-chan… –– Naruto's tears began to well up again as he approached her bed and he gently hugged her. Sakura widened her eyes as she raised her arms, but she didn't hug him back –– I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!

–– Naruto… don't worry. I know it wasn't your intention –– She answered softly.

–– Still… I feel so bad! –– He tightened his grip a little bit, but not enough to hurt her. Sakura softened her look as she slowly returned the hug. They stayed like that for a few more seconds until Sakura pulled away.

–– Sakura… –– This time it was Sasuke who spoke up –– I'm really sorry… –– He sounded genuinely sorry. He approached the bed Sakura was lying on and sat on the chair that was next to it.

–– Guys… –– She stopped for a moment –– There's no need to be sorry about that. I know it wasn't on purpose.

–– We could've killed you… –– Naruto said, with a sad tone. He swore he saw Sasuke looking down and clenching his fists at the words.

–– But… it didn't happen. And I'm fine now, so stop torturing yourselves for that –– Sakura replied. — I did it for you so that you wouldn't hurt each other. I wouldn't have minded being killed if that meant you weren't going to get hurt.

Naruto and Sasuke couldn't believe their ears. What a selfless teammate they had!

— I preferred to get hurt myself than any of you getting hurt. I'm confused about what happened… I wish everything could return to the way it was before the fight… — She said sadly, and both boys felt a strike of guilt rushing through them.

Sakura smiled sadly at both of them, and then she captured the sight of Naruto trying to hold his tears back. Sakura softened her expression once again as she weakly and carefully lifted her left arm and wrapped it around Naruto, hoping this would give him some comfort.

Sakura found Sasuke staring at them as she opened her free arm to invite him to join them. Sasuke wasn't very fond of hugs, but he leaned closer to Sakura anyway. She wrapped her free arm around him as she closed her eyes, enjoying this warm moment with her two favorite boys.

Naruto wrapped his right arm around Sakura, and his left arm enveloped Sasuke's back. Sasuke did the same thing as his blonde teammate, wrapping one arm around Naruto and the other around Sakura, converting this into a group hug. Sasuke didn't care if it was uncharacteristic of him; right now, he wanted to be with his two best friends.

Tsunade was walking through the hallways, heading towards Sakura's room to do some check-ups, when she suddenly saw team 7 in a group hug. She let out a soft smile at the heart-warming scene.

I'll come back later. She thought. Right now she needs her friends.

Too cheesy, I know! It wasn't planned to be THAT cheesy, but it turned out to be like that. I know behaving like this isn't very Sasuke-like, but I wanted to bring a softer Sasuke.

I hope you liked it. Leave good reviews and don't forget to ask for more prompts for the future.

See you soon!
