O-O-O

"Hello, Mr. Hagrid. How are you doing this fine evening?" Professor Sprout asked from behind Hagrid, looking towards the bookshelf he was browsing.

"Professor Sprout! I'm good. How are you?" Hagrid slammed his book shut and quickly turned towards the Professor.

"I'm very well. What are you reading?" Professor Sprout asked, touching the books on the shelf one by one, seemingly searching for a particular one.

"Just finding the uses of wild mandrake. I found a colony of them, just a little inside the edge of the forest.

"But that book looks like an animal feeding book," Sprout squinted her eyes, trying to read the title.

"Uh, yes! I am trying to find what kind of food do wild animals in the forest eat, and if the mandrakes could be the food of some beast living in the forest," Hagrid replied, taking a step back, trying to leave the library.

"That's a good topic for this week's research. Be sure to make it a foot-length essay, unlike last time," Professor Sprout admonished Hagrid and sat down on the nearby chair, having found the book she was looking for.

"Yes, Professor!" Hagrid exclaimed and fast-walked towards Madam Pince's table, getting the book issued for the week. He had a lot of research to do for his new wild pet.

"Who's there? Show yourself!" Hagrid walked slowly towards the exit of the forest, or what he thought was the exit.

The path had become divided into ten directions and although he used to put a stick towards the path that he came from, this time, the stick has gone missing and they hadn't been taught point-me spell yet.

The low growls had been coming from all directions. Sounds echoed off weirdly in the Forbidden Forest and he hadn't yet fully understood the secrets of this forest.

Slowly walking under the light of Lumos spell, Hagrid came across a beast lying on the floor. From 12 feet away, it seemed like a wolf, a very, very big, grey wolf. The growls seemed to be emanating from the body but the beast seemed unmoving, dead.

"Pss, pss," Hagrid tried to get the wolf to move, to wake up. Although he knew the beast, if alive, would wipe him clean from the face of the earth, he couldn't leave it hurting, for he thought that it was hurt and needed help.

Slowly Hagrid walked closer, looking for any signs that the beast was alive.

"Oh no!" Hagrid exclaimed as he saw the grey wolf lying dead on the grass. There were bite marks all over the body, the blood slowly leaking into the dense fur.

The growls, for some unknown reason, had stopped now. He thought maybe the beast had just died and earlier was growling but then came little yelps from under the beast.

Hagrid gulped and moved around the body, trying to see what was under the body. It seemed that the mother wolf had died defending her cubs.

Unsure of how to proceed and fearing for his life, he did what his heart wanted him to do, save lives. He was a half-giant and forests were his home. He wouldn't have been able to sleep if he didn't help those poor cubs.

"Wingardium Leviosa," Hagrid pronounced and the dead wolf's body twitched a little but didn't float up.

That's weird, thought Hagrid, taking off his cloak and tried to move the body by hands. Little by little a small hole under the body was uncovered.

As Hagrid tried to pick up his wand to use Lumos , three little dog heads popped up from the hole.

"Oh hi puppies, how are you?" Hagrid gushed over the small wolf cubs and reached down to pick them up.

"Uh, what..?" Hagrid looked at the three wolf heads inhabiting a single body.

"Well, are you guys thrice cute!" exclaimed Hagrid as the three heads licked his arm.

"Let's go to Hogwarts and find some milk for you," Hagrid pocketed his wand and wrapped the cub in his cloak, leaving the heads out.

Fluffy, Hagrid thought as he walked towards the distant lights of the castle.

"No! As much as I want to see you happy, keeping a dangerous magical beast in the castle, absolutely not," McGonagall, Dumbledore and Hagrid walked through the corridor, reaching the gargoyle in front of Dumbledore's office.

"Hagrid, my dear boy. The most I can allow is for you to visit Fluffy in the forest. Keeping him in the castle is extremely dangerous. That is inexcusable," Dumbledore smiled a little sadly at Hagrid. The future would see them both visiting Fluffy in the forest.

Hagrid walked across the Hogwarts ground, a little moving bundle in his hands, slightly bigger than it had been last time. Dumbledore walked a little ahead of him, silently encouraging him and looking towards the forest.

They both entered the forest. The evening sunset didn't seem to penetrate the forest canopy so Dumbledore lit his wand up after erecting an anti bug charm around them.

"Where do we leave him?" Hagrid asked, stroking Fluffy's fur, his voice subdued.

"We should leave him with the centaurs. They would take good care of him and would allow you to visit him," Dumbledore replied benevolently, smiling a little at Hagrid, silently promising to accompany him on some of the first visits. He loved his Phoenix, Fawkes and could imagine what losing a pet would feel like. He almost had a heart attack the first time Fawkes burst into flame, even though he knew that he would be reborn.

"Alright," Hagrid replied and continued stroking Fluffy's fur, following Dumbledore.

Soon they reached the Centaurs's colony. Hagrid took Fluffy out of the cloak, placing him on the ground. The middle head licked his leg as other heads sniffed around, trying to identify the new surroundings.

Dumbledore conversed with the centaurs, introducing Hagrid and Fluffy to them, requesting weekly safe visits for Hagrid. The head centaurs accepted and looked towards Fluffy, beckoning him to come closer.

"I'll visit you soon, alright. Now, go," Hagrid planted a kisses on top of Fluffy's heads and took him towards the centaurs.

"Shall we, Hagrid?" Dumbledore softly asked, placing a hand on Hagrid's shoulder.

Hagrid nodded and they walked away from the clearing.

"Would you like to learn the four-point spell, Hagrid?"

"No, Professor. Thank you,"

The adventure is better when you are lost.
