Chapter 7: Messing with Work

The next morning, Kagome work up to her phone playing a peaceful tune. Those times when she had those alarm clocks that made that loud buzzing noise was more than enough to start hers to a bad start. But not this time. She stretches her body to see if any of them have been out of place due to her positions while sleeping. So far only her shoulders were the only ones to popped back into place. She then gets out her bed to change into a pair of jeans with various holes around the leggings but not too much though. She grabbed a light blue t-shirt with an Alolan Ninetales and a geisha girl with it on. After putting her clothes on, she brushes her hair out with her brush. She then grabs her backpack for school and heads downstairs to see what her mom made for breakfast.

In the kitchen Ai is making scrambled eggs and toast. "morning." Kagome greets her. "Morning dear. I wanted to let you know that the rest of our stuff that haven't been out of the boxes yet will be down in the basement. So when you get home from school, I need you to browse any of them to see what you to either leave or take out that you recommend to do with them." Ai explains the next task for the afternoon as she serves her daughter a plate. "What about you?" Kagome asks as she takes a bit of the eggs. "I have to get to my new job that your father suggested since his new one is in the city. He wanted to make sure I'm close by if anything were to happen to either of us." She answers as she drinks her coffee. Kagome knows for sure that her parents are quite busy at this point. Her mother is a Registered Nurse at the hospital and her father is an engineer technician for a company. So, they have very well-paid jobs in their disposal. "Where's Sota?" Kagome asks after noticing her little brother is missing. "Oh, he left early to get to school. He needs to get the classrooms ready for the day.

Kagome didn't see that coming. For there are times whenever a student is to stay after school, they need to clean up various parts of the school. She would never expect to leave so early. Even for a new kid don't usually get that task until the following due to their schedule. But then again, Sota has soccer practice after school so it's fitting that his cleaning starts in the morning instead. She finishes her meal and heads out the door. "I'm off." Kagome waves back her mom as she heads out the door.

Kagome comes up to see Miroku and Sango talking among themselves. "Morning guys." She greets to them. "Morning, Kagome." Miroku speaks first. "Good Morning." Sango repeats Miroku's respond. "Where's Inuyasha?" Kagome asks as she doesn't see him anywhere on their street. "I'm up here." Inuyasha calls out to her. Kagome looks around until Sango points to a tree close to their bus stop sigh. "What are you doing up there?" Kagome asks as she comes to the tree that Sango pointed towards. "I like being up here." Inuyasha gruffly responds. Kagome knows for sure that cats are usually the ones who can climb up trees, but for Inuyasha who's a half dog demon, that wouldn't be possible for a dog to climb up one. One the other hand through, Inuyasha has reflexes like a cat to get up there rather easily.

Before Kagome could say anything, the bus pulls up to their stop. 'Might as well wait till later today.' She thinks to herself as she takes her spot at an empty seat. However, Sango decides to sit somewhere else on the bus. More like at the very end of the vehicle. Kagome was curious as in why Sango would do that. Did she want to give Kagome so time to get used to being at the new school. It's only the second day and there's something that she might not be able to understand hidden secrets.

Along the way to the school, Sango pulls up her phone. "What are you doing, Sango?" Miroku asks as he looks over her shoulder to see what the screen is showing. "Nothing." Sango answers as she turns off the phone. "I know what you're trying to do." Miroku grins. Before he can reveal anything, Sango covers his mouth. "Not here, you idiot." She glares at him. Luckily, the bus arrives at the school before Miroku would try something dumb.

Kagome goes to her locker to switch anything she needs in the morning. "Hey." Sango comes up to her. "Oh, hi there. Why didn't you sit next to me on the way here?" Kagome asks as she puts her books into the locker. Sango can tell that Kagome's feelings were due to the tone of her voice. "Oh, I had to take a few things with Miroku nothing more." Sango casually explains her reason. "Oh ok. I thought that it was something I did that made you sit in the back of the bus." Kagome comments dryly as she closes the door and heads to class. 'If only I told you the truth. But you're not ready yet.' Sango thinks to her than herself as she heads to class as well.

Later that day, Kagome had to keep her distance whenever Koga was in any of her other classes other than Science. So far he happened to be in her History and her Literature class. And the good thing is that all of them are to have students sit alphabetical order. She was at a safe distance from Koga. The bell rings to alert her that it's lunch time. She grabs her bag and head up the roof door and goes up to the school's roof so she can eat in peace.

Meanwhile in the cafeteria, Inuyasha and Miroku are enjoying their lunches. "Hey where's Kagome?" Sango asks as she sits with them. "Beats me. I haven't seen her since this morning." Inuyasha replies back to her. "Really? The way you talked to her from the tree wasn't nice at all." Miroku looks at her sternly. "Hey don't blame me for not being a morning person." Inuyasha defends himself. See he still has half left on his place he gives it to Miroku and leaves. "Here where are you going?" Miroku asks him. "I'm going for a stroll." Inuyasha responds as he leaves the place.

Back outside, Kagome sadly eats her mother's cooking slowly. She doesn't get it. Yesterday was supposed to be a great moment in her life and then the next day something else occurs and she can understand it at all. As she slowly chews her rice down, the door opens up to let the individual come out. "Thought I'd find you here." Inuyasha said to her. Kagome looks up and then looks back down to her rice. "How did you find me?" Kagome asks him. "This bad boy can sniff you for miles." He tips his superior nose. Kagome just nods. "Why are you up here anyway?" Inuyasha sits down by her.

Kagome had to think of something. "I just feel like being up is all." She calmly responds to him. Inuyasha can tell that she's hiding something else. "The truth, Kagome." He gently tells her. Kagome sighs, "I wanted to Sango to sit next to me on the bus but she didn't today Was it something I did to make her do that?"

Inuyasha can tell that Kagome is scared of being left out. "Not at all. I'm just clueless as you are. She didn't tell me anything that would get me distracted. All I can think of is that it's a personal subject that she can tell either Miroku or her family." Kagome gets it now. The thing she shouldn't be doing is sweat the small stuff. She's just trying to get used to her new place. She just didn't expect Koga to be enrolled here as well. Maybe she could find out why how he did so in the first. The last school they went to do was at a different district from the other side of the city.

"For now you need to focus on what you need to study for. I'm sure Sango will come around to explain to you why she didn't sit next to you on the bus this morning." Inuyasha places his hand onto her shoulder in a comforting way. Kagome nods back. "Ok." Soon enough her stomach alerts her that's done with her lunch. "Want this?" She hands over her bento box to Inuyasha. Inuyasha can smell the aroma of divine flavors from the remain food in it. "Sure." He smiles as he accepts Kagome's offer. As soon he finished the rest, they head down into building to resume the afternoon.
