Chapter 13: Daddy's Little Girls And Envy
(Earlier that Morning)
Kagome and Sango walk to talk behind a tree. "What is it, Kagome?" Sango asks her in concern. "It's my dad." Kagome was able to say that part. "What about him?" Sango urges her to continue on. "He doesn't want me near Inuyasha ever again." Kagome sniffs sadly. The only thing that Sango does is to embrace her. "Trust me, you're not the only one with dad issues." She calms her as rubs her back. "How?" Kagome pulls back as she asks her. That's when Sango pulls out the little phone her father lent her yesterday. "What happened to your phone? Is it broken?" Kagome raises her eyebrow.
Sango chuckles. "No, it's okay. It's just under my dad's grasps because of what I was trying to do with it." She explains to Kagome. "What was it that you were trying to do with it?" Kagome asks her curiously. Sango knows for sure she can't keep this secret from her any longer. "I was trying to hack into the school's system to change Koga's schedule so that he won't be in any of your classes." She admits to Kagome.
Kagome didn't see this coming. "Why would you do that?" She asks in shock but not loud enough for Inuyasha and Miroku to hear her. "I was trying to protect you from him. I thought I was doing you a favor." Sango reasons with her. Kagome sighs as she holds her forehead. "Sango, with all due in respect, I just moved here and I need to get settled in. I never asked for this. No offense." Sango can tell that Kagome is disappointed at her attempt. "I just wanted to make you feel safe out here. I bet it was much worse for where you used to live in."
Kagome gives Sango a look that could kill her on the spot. "I'm sorry. That came out wrong." She waves her hands in defense. "No. Where I used to live was not really safe. I just thought that I was able to live through it, but my dad found out what Koga was going to do, he had to make sure that I stay away from him from now on." Kagome explains the reason for why she moved here. "Does he know about Koga being at school?" Kagome shakes her head. "I only told my mom about it. I can guarantee that she told him behind my back." She groans in the end. "It's going to be a matter iof time that my dad is going to the extremes to make sure that Koga doesn't come to my school ever again."
Sango didn't expect that. "Well at least your dad is looking out for you. He just doesn't want you to make the wrong choice." She said to her softly.
Kagome just groans in frustration. "I bet your dad is the same way." She looks at Sango with a hidden smirk. "Oh you have no idea what my dad did when he saw Miroku the first time." Sango chuckles. "What did he do?" Kagome asks her curiously. "Oh, he gave him a stare that could kill him on the spot. He warned him not to grope me every again. Otherwise, he's going to have me homeschooled until I graduate." Sango leans her head back. Kagome would never expect that but he does have his reasons. "Let's just hope Miroku doesn't do that." Sango laughs. "Oh boy, he did. My dad saw him doing it when we were walking down the street the other time. Since then, Miroku kept his hands to himself."
(Present Time)
Inuyasha and Kaede are surprised about the cursed Locket. "What is the Vengeance Locket Anyway?" Inuyasha asks Mrs. Hitori after calming down. Mrs. Hitori sighs, "This locket was just an ordinary piece of jewelry when it was created. When I bought the item to sell it here, Tsubaki had something up her sleeve that I wasn't aware of." Inuyasha and Kaede decide to take a seat on the stools behind the store's cash register. "What did she do?" Kaede asks her manager
Mrs. Hitori looks at the locket that was still in the bag. "From what I can gather is that Tsubaki was very jealous of Kikyo." She tells them so far. "She was jealous of my sister? How?" Kaede asks in surprise. That's when Inuyasha answers her question. "When I was dating Kikyo, I had heard about Tsubaki trying to be better than Kikyo. I just didn't expect that Tsubaki would do something like this." Kaede nods in realization. "So I take it that Tsubaki went to a witch or sorcerer to get her revenge on Kikyo."
Mrs. Hitori nods. "Exactly. You see when Tsubaki came in one day, I heard her chant something onto the locket that I accidentally left on the counter. By the time I came back out, Tsubaki just sold it to you Inuyasha. But you weren't aware of the spell it was placed on." She turns her sight to Inuyasha to see him guilty for what he just did. "Kaede, you told me about your sister's death. Was she wearing the locket at the time?" Mrs. Hitori asks her. Kaede shakes her head. "No I had it with me when she was killed."
Mrs. Hitori holds her chin. "Ok. I don't want to get too personal on this question, but did you and Kikyo share or had your bedrooms?" Kaede answers it casually. "We had our own rooms, but we had the jack and jill bathroom between them. So we had to share that. We had our jewelry in there at the time." Mrs. Hitori nods, "So maybe the locket must've possessed Kikyo without her knowing it when she touched it." She theorizes that idea. "Do you have any idea where Tsubaki lives?" Inuyasha asks her this time.
Mrs. Hitori goes to the back to browse the files of her workers. She spots the one with Tsubaki's name on it. She comes back out to show them. "This is her address." She tells them. Inuyasha widens his eyes. "What is it, Inuyasha?" Kaede asks him worryingly. "That's the address that my new neighbors moved in." He answers her in disbelief. "But wouldn't you be able to smell her scent when she was there?" Kaede asks him curious due to his sense of smell.
Inuyasha had to think this thoroughly about that question. "To be honest, there was no scent of her presence. Not just that, I think that Tsubaki wanted to write this as a fake so no one else would know where she lived." Then something else crossed his mind. "I might be able to get into the school's data base to look for her real address, let's make sure that it's the real one and not this one." He comes up with this idea. "But do you know which school she goes to though?" Kaede asks him though. "Yeah, she goes to my school. It's weird though that I haven't seen her for a while, not even in any of the classes we have together. Don't get me wrong on that last part." Kaede nods at him.
Mrs. Hitori can tell that this is where she needs to get back to work. "Not to be rude but is there anything else you need help with?" She asks him. Inuyasha shakes his head. "No, I'll be going now." He leaves the place. Mrs. Hitori hmms at that. "Is something wrong?" Kaede asks her manager. "No. Let's get back to work and hope to sell a few things. I'll be hanging onto this from now on." She holds the bag and takes it into her office.
