"You saw a what?" Iris gasped.
"A Night Fury," Dagur said with a grin. He was pleased he got Jon to approve of him a little and saw a real Night Fury. "Except it wasn't black like Toothless. This one was white with grey spots everywhere!"
"Reminded me of a snow leopard," Jon sighed. "The coloring and markings. No one is allowed to go outside the fence without another person from now on. Understand?"
"Yes," Iris said. Dagur gave the man a nod. "What did you do?"
"I offered it a rabbit, which it happily took, but it left. Didn't fly, just ran over the snow like it wasn't even there deeper into the trees."
"Wow."
Excitement and fear warred over her face. Dagur knew how she felt to a degree. His first time facing a dragon he was so excited but he was terrified he'd die. He'd proven otherwise and defeat the dragon. Part of him felt remorse over that past memory but those skills helped him more than once.
"I'll find it and tame it," he said with a grin.
"You will not," Vivian said sharply. "All we need is a giant lizard trying to eat everything."
"But Mom," Iris whined.
"No!"
"She's a killjoy," Iris whispered to Dagur.
"Behave you two," Jon chided. "No one is going to run around trying to tame a dragon." He glared at Dagur and Iris. "I mean it. No trying to tame the bloody thing. No even going out to look for it. We are going to pretend it doesn't exist and is just another giant predator determined to either out hunt us or eat us."
If he knew dragons that wasn't going to happen. No one just ignored a dragon. Granted these ones were hidden and ignored for gods know how long. That didn't mean he was going to pretend it didn't exist.
Iris glanced at him and he gave her a grin. She smiled back slightly, rolling her eyes. He knew she knew exactly what he was thinking.
He was going to use his dragon hunting skills and find the Night Fury. His goal? Tame it and find the other Night Furys.
