Gia's P.O.V.
The few days I had left with my grandparents went quicker than expected and Kayo even came by last night because Thunderbird S needed to be upgraded and also it was going to be nice to have someone to talk to on the long flight. We arrived at the airport with a little hassle from the press and my grandparents came to see me of and thanked Kayo for making sure I got home safe. We got through the terminals without any fuss. Thankfully, I had booked premium tickets so we could go to the lounge and get on the plane before the public. And to my absolute despair Bernard Bottomsly was in the row behind me and next to Kayo. He is such a flirt. But before he could talk to me our coms went off and we answered them. "Scott, how are you?" I asked.
"Well I was just cheeking in on you two and also, Kayo how does it feel traveling home with the general public?" He asked.
"I wish Brains would hurry up and finish his upgrades to Thunderbird S" She whispered.
"Yeah it would be nice if every so often one of you picked me up in a Thunderbird on the way back from missions" I added.
"Well at least you both will be able to check out his upgrade to Fireflash while you're on it" Scott said.
"We can hardly wait" We responded hearing Bottomsly burp.
"Don't be in a rush Grandma baked you a welcome back cake" He told us. We really need to get a rota for who does the cooking when we get back. The plane started to get ready for take-off and everything went smoothly, and the upgrade Brains made definitely made it faster. Unbeknownst to us that our trouble had just begun.
John's P.O.V.
I was monitoring the frequencies when London tower reported Fireflash missing, I knew I had to act. "London control, this is International Rescue. I picked up your alert about Fireflash, please confirm" I asked calmly.
"International Rescue, yes it's vanished into thin air" The controller said, I did a scan over its last known location.
"Satellite confirms there is no wreckage, so they haven't cashed. Don't worry we'll find it" I assured them and contacted Tracy Island. "Guys it's John. Kayo and Gia's plane has gone missing" Looking at Scott, Alan, and Virgil
"What do you mean we just talked to them both" Scott told me.
"It's literally disappeared. We can't find it" I told them, but that didn't reassure Scott. Him and Gia had been through so much together. "But don't panic"
"Have you ever seen me panic Thunderbird 5" Scott said calming down.
"Only when Gia's involved" Alan teased.
"Figure of speech. I'm trying their communicators now" I told them.
"Whilst you're doing that I'll see if any of G's old air force friends can lend a hand" Virgil said getting up, "Alan can you go and find Gordon he needs to hear this"
Kayo's P.O.V.
I couldn't tolerate Bottomsly and I definitely now know why Gia avoids galas and travelled in business class. I may envy her techniques on ignoring people. But he just kept on rambling on about the engines as if he were trying to impress me. I noticed the light change direction in the cabin window. "Excuse me, why are we changing course" I asked the co-pilot.
"I'm sorry" he asked.
"The sunlight in the cabin is shifting, indicating were changing course from south east to east. Why is that?" I asked
"Will you excuse me" the co-pilot said before heading back. I tried my com, but it wasn't working. "Gia can you see if your com is working" I asked.
"Sure" Gia replied picking up her phone, "Mines not working either" We both looked at each other worryingly. Then we heard the Captain over the loudspeaker.
"Sorry ladies and gentlemen. Our instruments are indicating a depressurisation in the cabin, so please put your oxygen masks on and we will have you back on the ground soon" It was a bit suspicious.
"G don't put on that mask the cabin…" I started.
"Isn't depressurising, I know. I did a lot of drills like this when I was grow…training at the air force base when I was in my teens" Gia stated reaching for her bag, "Here put this chemical filter over your mouth and then put the mask on, Hanson just hijacked his own plane" I didn't need to be told twice from G, she had the most experience with situations like this. The Captain walked by without even giving a second thought and as soon as he had passed, we took of the oxygen masks and the filters. I handed it back to Gia as she got her bag, and we made our way to the cockpit.
The first thing when we entered was checked to see if the co-pilot was ok whilst Gia checked the controls. "He's out cold and the captain is definitely up to no good" I told Gia.
"Yeah and look at this" Gia gestured to a strange device under the console. I went to yank it off, but Gia stopped me, "Whoever is doing this can't know we are on to them. I have a solution" she stated.
"And that would be" I asked curiously.
"Twitch come out" she looked at her bag and a small flying sphere came out with a single camera lens rotating with graphene wings allowing it to fly. "This is Twitch my little assistant"
"Where did you get him?" I asked.
"I built him when it was little, with a little help" Gia replied, "Twitch see if you can deactivate the jammer and the cloak tech on this device" she asked her robot who retracted his wings and traded them for four spider like legs and it went inside the device and deactivated it.
"It actually worked" I exclaimed finally being able to establish coms with thunderbird 5, "John are you there" I asked as my com glitched for a signal.
"There you are" We both just looked at him confused, "You've been invisible for the last half hour" he told us.
"What do you mean by invisible?" Gia asked.
"You're back on visual and radar. You had us worried" John said.
"I knew it was a cloaking device" Gia said, "And why would Hanson hijack his own plane and knock everyone out"
"It's not Captain Hanson, they found the real Captain Hanson tied up in a crew locker a few minutes ago" Scott told us.
"Then if it's not Hanson, who is it?" I asked.
"Someone in disguise steals a high-tech plane, who do you think?" Alan asked.
"The Hood" Me and Gia responded, I went for the door only to see him walk our way.
"The pair of you get out of there now" Scott ordered.
"Easier said than done" I said looking for a solution and Twitch pointed at the cargo hold lock.
Scott's P.O.V.
Gordon and Alan re-entered the room not long after Virgil ended the call with the Air force on getting some help. "You found Gia and Kayo's plane" he asked.
"Yeah but there in trouble. The Hood is in there. Tine to deploy" Alan asked.
"FAB little brother" I said getting up, "I will intercept in Thunderbird 1" I said and the others got up but I stopped them, "The rest of you wait here until we pinpoint their destination, we don't need you on a wild goose chase" I saw the disappointment in their eyes that they didn't get to help, but I needed to get out there I'm not going to lose anyone again. I suited up and launched Thunderbird 1 and headed to the last known location of Fireflash.
Virgil's P.O.V.
I know Scott is worried, but I knew he would need us. "Does he actually expect us to wait here" I asked the others, but by the looks on their faces we knew we had to go and help them. We all headed to launch Thunderbird 2.
Gia's P.O.V.
I could hear the Hood gloat about stealing the plane from the cargo hold. Kayo and I had hidden in two separate areas of the cargo hold and only hope he didn't notice. I was so wrong. A transmission came through from London control and the lock was opened soon after. The Hood came down looking for us, trying to bait us. "Come out, come out wherever you are. If you surrender now, I won't hurt you…too badly" He said. Kayo nodded for me to get back up to the cockpit, but I couldn't leave her. Her com went of and Scott was calling.
"Your timing is terrible. You'll lead the Hood right to us" She whispered, "Give me 15 seconds and call back" She said, "Is Twitch equipped with a zapper"
"Yeah. Why?" I asked curiously. She just gave a nod in the direction of the Hood, "Oh" She placed her com down and right on que Scott called back and the Hood took the bait and picked up her communicator. I nodded to Twitch who zapped the Hood on his neck.
"Why you little pest" He yelled, just as Kayo came down on a storage container knocking him over. She jumped down and I came out of my hiding spot to confront him. "Why am I not surprised its you" He said before turning around to face me, "Oh, and the Tracy prodigy. My, my how much you have grown"
"Well ruining your plans is the best part of my job" Kayo said throwing a canaster at him, "Gia get up to the cockpit and change course back to Australia"
"Will do and keep your com on" I said before heading to the stairs, but the Hood threw a canaster at me, knocking me over and trapping my right arm. Kayo tried to get to me, but the Hood kept attacking her. "Kayo the fuel control panel" I said but the Hood damaged it before she heard me. The plane went into a nosedive and the canister came off, but it hurt badly. I think it may be broken. I heard the two of them talk, something about family and being on the wrong side. But I definitely saw her get punched in the face. The Hood ran to the escape capsule shortly followed by Kayo who helped me up and twitch got my mother's scarf that I had in my bag and made a temporary sling.
"I may have lost the plane, but International Rescue is going to lose so much more" The Hood gloated, "Good luck with landing, niece" before launching the escape capsule.
"Promise you won't tell the boys" Kayo asked.
"Don't worry you're not the only one who keeps secrets from them" I said, "Lets see if the boys can help us land this plane" Kayo contacted Thunderbird 5 and got through.
"John, we have a situation" Kayo said.
"Satellite readings indicate your still at Mack 5, heading east much further north than you should be" John said.
"What about the Hood?" Scott asked.
"He got away" Kayo told them.
"Yeah and the next time I see him. He is getting a broken jaw" I exclaimed.
"What did he do to make you mad?" Scott asked.
"I have a broken wrist know because of him" I told Scott, "Don't worry you can have the second blow" I teased him. We headed back up to the cockpit to try and land this plane.
"What's the status of the passengers?" Scott asked.
"Oxygen is now flowing into the emergency masks; they should be waking up soon" Kayo told them.
"Fireflash I suggest you adjust your course back south" John recommended, but I was looking at the fuel gage and it wasn't good.
"Negative Thunderbird 5, Fireflash is leaking fuel. We need to land this plane now" I told them.
"We need to find a landing strip big enough for Fireflash" John said. I tried to recall any old bases that may be in the area that could be used to land Fireflash.
"John are there any military bases nearby" I asked.
"Yes, there is a test site, but civilian transport isn't allowed in its air space" He said.
"That's Zhurihe base. I can get us permission to land there" I said. Kayo looked at me confused, "I have my military access codes on me and my id that I got given so I could visit my friends there" I said, "And I have the honorary title of Lieutenant-Colonel because my mother was a Lieutenant-Colonel and I did track down the terrorists responsible for my parents deaths" I told them.
"So that's why you ran away from home" John said, "But you don't need to. Virgil got in contact with two pilots who knew your parents and they go by the call signs of…"
"Rookie and Blue" I said.
"Yeah its us Feisty" Blue said, I saw there jets come up from either side of Fireflash.
"We weren't letting you have all the fun" Rookie teased.
"Sure, remind me to throw a canaster at you. Then you will see how fun my job is" I told them.
"Never mind, Feisty can you pilot Fireflash to the base" Blue asked.
"Two words. Broken wrist" I said telling the pair of them, "Kayo can take over. Twitch, disable auto pilot please" Twitch did exactly that and then helped me do my seatbelt. Thunderbird 1 soon passed over Fireflash.
"Thunderbird 1 we have already done a fly over in Fireflash. No external damage to report" Rookie informed Scott.
"Fireflash this is Zhurihe base Air Control, please confirm a military ID" Air control asked.
"This is Lieutenant-Colonel Gianna Ashworth, First Sargent of the 36supth/sup wing, Anderson Air Force Base in Guam" I told them.
"Your credentials are clear. Any problems we should be aware of when you land" Air Control said.
"The fuel tank is leaking into the belly of the plane and the hydraulics are shot" Kayo told them.
"You're coming up on the runway" John said.
"Lowering the landing gear" Kayo said pulling down the levers that controlled.
"Er… Feisty. Only one of the landing gear wheels came down" Blue stated.
"Kayo, pull up now otherwise you will disintegrate on landing" Scott yelled as Kayo reacted and pulled up.
"We should have made sure you checked the landing gear" Rookie said, "It's my fault I didn't remind you" I knew Rookie would beat herself up about this.
"Rookie it isn't your fault anyone could have made that mistake" Scott said.
"Can you lower the landing gear manually" John asked.
"No, the co-pilots out cold and Gia can't do it one handed" Kayo said trying to stay calm.
"Never mind" John said.
"And to make matters worse, the fuel tanks are extremely low. We probably only have enough for two more try's" I said.
"Can you land Fireflash without landing gear. Empty the fuel tanks and then land" John said.
"Thunderbird 5, do you want Fireflash to go up in a ball of fire?" Blue said.
"Good point" John said.
"We really need Thunderbird 2; they will never get here in time" Scott said.
"Actually, we left right after you" Virgil came in over the coms.
"The cadets are so going to be jealous that we got to do a rescue with you guys" Yelled Rookie.
"And what is the likelihood that they will believe you" I teased. Rookie just went silent.
"Sorry Thunderbird 1, we didn't feel like waiting" Virgil said.
"It's a good thing you didn't" Scott stated, "we don't have a lot of time. Gordon, Alan can you configure a couple of pods to act as landing gear"
"FAB" They said. We could only hope it would work as we went on our second attempt. But the pods couldn't take the weight of Fireflash.
"I'm going to have to pull up" Kayo said ignoring John's advice. We both looked at each other knowing that this would be it.
"Guys we're going to have to ditch the plane in the desert" I said knowing this would be the end. I clutched my necklace, knowing it had kept me safe all these years and I would end up just like my parents. "Me and Kayo may have not started life of with brothers like you…" I started.
"But you are the best thing that has ever happened to the both of us. You made us feel welcomed and that we wouldn't ever be alone" Kayo finished.
"Hold on the pair of you" Virgil said.
"No wait, Virgil" I said.
"No really hold on to something" He said. We felt the cables from Thunderbird 2 attach to the wings of Fireflash and he pulled us up in a landing. It worked Fireflash landed safely. We got out of the cockpit and made our way down to the passenger area and thankfully everyone was alright. The base sent aid to unload the pane and help the passengers. When we got off Scott ran up to me and hugged me, but I winced in response.
"Sorry G, I forgot you broke your wrist" He apologise. Rookie and Blue's jets landed, and they leaped out of their cockpits and ran over.
"Good to see that your ok Feisty" Blue teased.
"Yeah, there was no way we were going to let you meet the same fate as your parents" Rookie said, "Hey is that Twitch" She got distracted with my little helper.
"Those people on the plane owe the pair of you their lives" Scott stated.
"Well the Hood got away again" Kayo said.
"That doesn't matter. Karma will catch up to him. Eventually" I said.
"Well I know one thing. I'm never flying commercial again" Kayo joked.
"Me too, well at least until the Hood is in prison" I stated.
"Don't worry about Fireflash we can get her fixed and the passengers back to London" Blue said.
"Well lets get back to Tracy Island and get that wrist of yours checked out" Virgil said.
"Hey Feisty. You coming to OCD this year" Rookie asked.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world" I replied.
"Quick question, why is your callsign Feisty?" Alan asked.
"I will tell you when we get back to the island" I told him. I headed over to Thunderbird 2 with the others whilst Scott went to Thunderbird 1 and we set a course for home. Once we got my suitcase from the plane.
Authors Notes:
This is my longest chapter so far. The reason Rookie's callsign is Rookie is because she has a habit of making rookie mistakes without even realising it and the reason Blue's callsign is Blue is because when he is in the sky you can't get him back down, unless the fuel tank is low. I will revial how Gia got her callsing during the Christmas special that I will be working on. Please review.
