When she returns through the well two days later, there are stripes on the wrist of the hand that reaches down to pull her up, and her pulse races.
"Hi," she breathes as he lifts her out. Without missing a beat, she takes his face in her hands and bumps his nose.
His eyes close, a content smile on his lips, and he presses them to hers. "Hello."
Unable to help herself, her arms go around his neck, and she hugs him close. "I missed you."
"Then two days was too long," he says, holding her to him.
She laughs.
