Being stared at was really uncomfortable. Especially when it was four people sitting in front of her staring as much as they could under Dagur's glare. Iris stayed close to him, trying to avoid their gazes. Snotlout and Tuffnut's stares were really uncomfortable after Dagur shared the story about how he thought she was a Valkyrie when he first saw her.

"What other kinds of dragons are on your island?" Fishlegs asked eagerly.

"I don't know," she answered. "I only know of Enigma and Jager's kind." Not a complete lie since they were the only kind she knew about.

"How do you keep your hair so shiny?" Ruffnut asked.

"I wash it?"

"What's your idea of a perfect first date?" Snotlout asked dreamily.

"Dagur?"

"Dagur?" Snotlout scoffed. "That's not a date. That's-oh!" Dagur leaned over and grabbed his collar, dragging the smaller Viking up towards him.

"Leave her alone," he growled. "You're making her uncomfortable. I'm not warning you again. Next time I cut out your tongue." This wild possessive side of him was kind of attractive. A lot attractive.

"Okay," Snotlout squeaked.

"Leave her alone guys," Hiccup sighed. "How would you like to be stared at?"

"I'd love it," Ruffnut said with a grin.

"You wish," Tuffnut drawled. They started squabbling and ignored everyone else.

"They're mostly harmless," Astrid said. She sat next to Iris, looking over at her curiously. "I can't blame them though. You're from someplace none of us have ever been, with one of the most insane men in the Archipelago, with dragons we've never seen before."

"Dagur's not insane," Iris argued. "A little crazy, wild, not insane. He's a good person."

"You are probably one of the only people to think that," Astrid snorted.

"I know. He told me about how people see him. Its sad." Her words made Astrid shift uncomfortably. "What's your dragon? I never seen one like that."

"Stormfly is a Deadly Nadder," Astrid said. "She is an amazing flyer! Her tail throws out sharp spines that can kill people if she hits them right. She also has an amazing sense of smell but that makes her front field of vision extremely limited. I don't care though. She's still the best."

"Enigma is very vain," Iris said with a smile. "Very possessive. She is very strong though and very fast even on the ground. She bosses Jager around and even though he is bigger, he lets her have her way."

"What is your island like?" Fishlegs asked hesitantly. He kept glancing at Dagur who was in a deep talk with Hiccup at another table with a large map now.

"Big, very big. You can't see the other side even on dragon back. It would take many days on dragon back to reach other side. No other islands were near either though. My family lived alone away from others but we went to town to trade. Finding Dagur caused panic as he was new and didn't look like some of us."

"But you look like us," Astrid pointed out. "I've seen strangers in the Dragon Hunters before, who claim to be outside the fog too. They don't have the same features as us."

"My mother's family may have come from here," Iris responded. "They died when she was young so we don't know. She could speak Dagur's tongue but my father and I couldn't. She helped him learn our language and he helped me learn his, yours. Still can't speak the best but I can understand you." Sorry Mom's family for being claimed as dead Iris thought.

"This is so cool," Ruffnut said suddenly. "You're all mysterious and foreign. I can see why Tuffnut is head over heels for you." Iris blanched at her words.

"No no thank you," she said quickly. "I'm not interested." She looked over at Dagur. "He is the only one for me."

"Wait what?" Astrid asked. She stared at her in shock. "You! You're in a relationship with that mad man? Why!"

"He's not a mad man," Iris argued.

"Besides the point! There had to be other guys better than him."

"No." Iris smiled at her hands, fidgeting with the ring he had given her at Christmas. "He is the best. The only one for me."

"We've been in contact with a group called the Defenders of the Wing," Hiccup said. "Initially they came after us thinking we were with Viggo but we proved our innocence. Last month Viggo tried to use a Submaripper to block the trading routes. We managed to get it free from him though. His plan had been to cripple Berk."

"That is a good tactic," Dagur muttered. "Cut off the enemies supplies and attack when they are weakened. However when the enemy has dragons that can meet the ships outside of the blockades its not that effective."

"You've mellowed out since you were gone," Hiccup commented.

"I learned a lot from Iris' father. He was a noble warrior. So was her mother." He missed the two but he was glad to be home.

"So uh, you and this Iris?" He frowned at Hiccup who blushed. "I guess you're a thing? A couple?"

"Oh! Yes, we're in a relationship."

"Well that's good. Heather will be happy for you."

"How has she been?"

"Busy. She hasn't come here much since you, well, we assumed died. She went back to Berserk to deliver the news, which they refused to accept by the way, and went back to her routine of stalking the Dragon Hunters. So far, well, she's been doing okay. A bit reckless."

"That's just the Berserker way. Everything we do is reckless. Wouldn't have it any other way!" Iris' footsteps approached him and he snaked an arm around her waist to hold her close. "Everything okay?"

"Yes," she said as she leaned against him. "Just tired of questions. Too many."

"Sorry about that," Hiccup said. "Fishlegs means well but he tends to go overboard."

"I can tell," Iris said with a sigh. "He is very curious of Enigma and Jager. Asks questions I don't have answers to. What is a Woolly Howl?"

"Its a cold weather dragon," Hiccup explained. "They like the colder regions and use a freezing breath instead of fire. Your two do look similar, especially with the fur on their necks and backs, but I don't think they are them."

Iris just nodded. Dagur was impressed with how well she was holding up, given how much she interacted with people outside her parents before he showed up. He didn't quite approve the attention some of the others, like Snotlout, were giving her but she didn't approve of it either. That made him feel smug. She didn't want anyone else but him. It wasn't like he was worried or anything.

Finishing his talk with Hiccup they were having before Iris sidetracked them, he learned the Dragon Hunters were out in force lately. The Riders intercepted various raids from them but also had to deal with Berserker ships. That was something he was going to have to address sooner than later.

His plan had been to stay on the Edge a few days, let Iris get used to everything, before diving head first into his tribe's turbulent politics. He couldn't have them attacking the Riders or other ships though. That meant his plans needed to change and they needed to head to Berserk as soon as tomorrow morning. The dragons could handle it, they were strong, but he worried about Iris. Maybe he should leave her here?

"We have to stop your people," she said quietly as Hiccup excused himself to go deal with the twins and Snotlout. "They aren't handling not having a chief that well. Shouldn't they have chosen a new one? Once they, well, you know."

"No one is probably lasting long enough," he mused. "Before my father only the strongest and most blood thirsty man could last as chief. My father was able to curb that after becoming chief but I may have, ahem, encouraged that behavior when I became chief." She elbowed him. "Hey! I've changed since then!"

"I'm glad," she said. "I would have had to hit you with a stick after you got stronger. Astrid had many stories about you. Did you really make Fishlegs eat a rotten fish?" He groaned, slapping his hand on his face. "I'll take that as a yes?"

"That was a younger me," he grumbled. "What else?"

"Just that you liked to throw knives at other kids, chase them around with an axe, lock them in cages, make them eat weird things, I'm guessing normal Dagur the Deranged kid things."

"I grew out of all that."

"I'm glad." She placed a kiss on his cheek before poking said cheek. "Don't look so glum. You told me from the get go that you were a wild one. Its amusing hearing it first hand how you were. Hopefully it isn't hereditary."

"Maybe it is." He winked at her. "Should we test the theory?"

Blushing she smacked his chest and wiggled away. He laughed and reached towards her, poking her sides to make her laugh. She twisted away to run out the door to the outside. Still laughing he followed her at a more leisurely walk. The Riders stared at him, jaws slack. He gave them a grin.

"Don't worry," he drawled. "She's just embarrassed. I do want to say though, no matter how much you tell her about my past, she won't change her mind. Toodles."

"This is insane," Astrid muttered. Dagur had left the building following Iris. "How can she be with someone like him? He's dangerous!"

"Maybe she's crazy," Tuffnut conspired. "Not all there."

"She seems very much sane," Hiccup sighed. "Come on guys. Dagur was missing for over a year. Things change, people change."

"Not Dagur," Snotlout grumbled.

"Yes even Dagur. He was different even before we thought he died. Heck he even tamed a dragon! Stood up against Viggo and Ryker! Who knows what else changed while he was living with Iris and her people."

"He does act different around her," Fishlegs pointed out. "And their dragons. Even their dragons act different than ours. If I didn't know any better I'd think they were feral dragons."

"Maybe her people train them that way," Astrid said. "Their saddles are the bare minimum. Just a piece of leather and some straps. Not even a balancing handle. Yet we didn't even see a hint of Iris riding her dragon when she came in."

"Their style of riding is different than ours," Hiccup muttered. "I'd like to see them in action. It would be amazing to learn from them."

"Do you know what their plans are?" Astrid asked Hiccup.

"I don't," he said with a shake of his head. "I briefed him on everything that's happened over the past year though. He didn't look to happy about what the Berserkers have been doing lately."

"Hopefully he'll go deal with them," Snotlout drawled. "And we can get her to come to her senses. Its a waste, seeing her with him."

"Somehow I don't think she's going to stay," Astrid drawled.

"Why not?" he argued. "Why would she run off with him to deal with a group of crazies?"

"Because she is going with me," Dagur said suddenly. The group looked to the door to see Dagur leaning against the frame. Snotlout whimpered as Dagur stared directly at him. "Sorry to burst you bubble Snothat. She'll just waste her time with me."

"Dagur," Hiccup said nervously. He hoped the other Viking wouldn't go crazy and try to kill Snotlout. "Everything okay?"

"Just wanted to let you know we are leaving at day break," he answered, still staring fixedly at the now nervous Snotlout. "I was going to try and convince her to stay here where its safer but somehow I don't think she'll feel comfortable."

"Ignore him Dagur," Astrid said as she stepped between them. "He's an idiot. You really think its a good idea to take Iris to Berserk right now?"

"It doesn't matter what I think," he said with a shrug. "She has her own mind and she wants to go. I'll be in touch once we get things calmed down there."
