Chapter 30: A Cruel Revelation

Kagome pulls up to the student parking lot of the school. "So this is where you go." Kaede comments the nice area. "Yeah. Pretty much. I just started this year and I have friends and some other students who don't really like for no reason whatsoever." Kagome said back as they begin walking up to the doors. Kaede remains close to Kagome because she doesn't have a clue on to get around. Kagome leads her to the office to receive her schedule. "Ah, yes. Kaede. Here you go." One of the secretaries hands over her schedule. Kaede looks down to see where she is supposed to go.

"So far you're in my homeroom." Kagome smiles as she leads her to the assigned room. They enter the room to see Sango and Miroku talking among themselves. "Morning." Kagome greets the two. "Morning. Oh morning Kaede." Sango smiles to them. Kaede takes her seat in the empty desk by Sango. "You doing okay so far?" Miroku asks Kaede as Kagome sits in the desk in front of her cousin. "So far so good." Kaede shyly smiles back. "That's good to hear." Miroku spoke to them. "Where's Inuyasha?" Kagome wonders as she hasn't seen him this morning. "Oh, Inuyasha has a doctor's appointment today. He won't be here this morning." Miroku answers the question. Kaede looks around the room to see other students entering because the first class is about to begin. "I'll see you guys at lunch." Miroku waves goodbye and leaves the room to go to the other classroom for his first class of the day.

As the morning progresses, Kaede feels more at ease as long as Kagome is in her classes. Well most of her classes are with her for the morning. However her afternoon classes she's on her own. As such she has to go to them herself. For now it's lunch so Kagome and Kaede head to the cafeteria to get themselves comfortable in their table. Kaede is about to start eating. "Hey." Inuyasha's voice gets her attention. "Oh, hey Inuyasha. I hope your doctor's appointment went well." Miroku teases him right off the bat. All Inuyasha does is give Miroku a Charlie horse. "That's none of your business." He sits down in his spot and pulls out his lunch that his mother made for him. "Oh Kaede. I hope you're doing ok so far here." Inuyasha said nicely to her.

Kaede nods her head. "So far, it's ok. I just have the afternoon classes on my own." Inuyasha gestures his hand to have Kaede let him see her schedule. Kaede gives it to him to take a look. "Yeah. None of us are going to be in any of your classes. That's a bummer." He said to her as he gives it back to her. "Are you going to be able to make it through?" Sango asks her so far. "I hope so. There's no telling who else will be in my afternoon classes." Kaede prays in murmur. Everyone else looked at each other, having no idea on to comment on that.

The bell rings to alert the students that it's time to resume their classes. Kaede looks down to the map for where her next class is. She noticed that it's on the second floor of the building. She spots the classroom number and enters to see that it's her science class. It turns out that the door is at the back of the classroom and the tables and chairs are facing the back of the room where a dry eraser board is on. She spots an empty table to sit in. She sees other students taking their spots in the room.

"Oh well well well." A new voice speaks from behind Kaede. Kaede turns her head to spot Tsubaki in the same class as here. "I never thought that you'd be here. Aren't you supposed to be at your own school?" Tsubaki teases Kaede. Little does Tsubaki know is that Kaede digs into her sweater's pocket and pressed a button of something. "I don't need to explain myself to you, Tsubaki." Kaede counters as she looks at her. "Oh I don't expect you to tell me anything about your life. Let alone about your mother being in the hospital." Tsubaki taunts her. Just hearing that made Kaede widen her eyes. "How did you know about that?" She quickly asks her. Only she and her family know about Miyuki's condition. "Let's just say you didn't hear it from me." Tsubaki chuckles and walks away.

As soon as Tsubaki is out of sight, Kaede presses the button again to turn the device off. 'Somehow Tsubaki knows about my mom's condition. But how did she know about it in the first place?' Kaede asks herself in her mind. For now she needs to focus on her schoolwork as the teacher enters the classroom and begins the lecture.

After that class, Kaede gathers her supplies to head to her next afternoon class. She doesn't know rather or not she wants Tsubaki in her next class. If she is, then maybe Tsubaki would say more things about Miyuki being the hospital. If not then she's going have to wait till the next time she sees her. Kaede makes it to her last class of the day, health. Maybe this class could her help figure out her mother's condition. As soon as she enters the room, instead of individual desks, there are long tables for the students to sit in. A few students have arrived already to take their seats. "You must be Kaede." The female teacher spoke to her. Kaede turns around to see that the teacher is middle aged and yet looks familiar. "Yes." Kaede only said to her. "I just want to let you know that everyone in here are to sit in alphabetical order. And since your last name is Higurashi, you'll be sitting in that spot there." The teacher gives her directions.

Kaede does what she was told and sits in the assigned seat and get comfortable until class begins. As such, Tsubaki enters as well. She spots Kaede in her seat. "I believe you're in my seat." Tsubaki tells Kaede as she gets close. "Sorry Tsubaki, you're going to sit somewhere else." The teacher tells her seriously. Tsubaki turns in disbelief. "What are you talking about? I always sit here. Why is she in my seat?" Tsubaki complains to the teacher. The teacher gives her look. "For your information. Since Kaede is in this class, I made myself clear that I assigned seats to the students' last names in alphabetical order. And since Kaede's last name is before yours, you are to sit in the next seat over which means that you are to sit in the table behind her."

Tsubaki scoffs but does takes her new seat behind Kaede, which means that she could get more information without Tsubaki realizing it. As such she digs into her pocket and presses the device's button to record vital information from the girl. Throughout the time Kaede pretends to pay attention to the teacher's lessons while Tsubaki murmurs to herself. Luckily the device can pick up the slightest sound of Tsubaki's voice which will be useful later on.

The bell rings to alert the students that it's time to go home. "Tsubaki a word please." The teacher spoke to stop the girl from leaving the room. Kaede remains outside of the room waiting for the conversation between the two. "Tsubaki, I know fully well what you've done." The teacher spoke first. "What are you talking about, mom?" That alone was more than to make Kaede widen her eyes. She silently sighs to calm down. "Don't play dumb, Tsubaki. I know it was you who poisoned Kaede's mother." That was more than enough for Kaede to leave the building for knowing who it was that poisoned Miyuki.
