The hallway seemed to stretch more the closer I got to the crown room. My heart beat rapidly anxiety riddling my body, the advisor was quiet the entire time. I hadn't bothered asking what the issue was. I was still in my grieving clothes the veil hung over my face. I was a beacon of death to the whole court.

My foot took its last step as the throne room opened up before me. Dozens of advisors and court missionaries stood greeting the soon to be Queen. I held my head high as I walked in between the men. Feeling a rush of power I began slowing my steps and walking more confidently. My mother had made me carry books on my head for years. Urging me to stand more like a confident princess who fears no one or anything.

I sat on the throne I labeled my fathers at a very young age. But truth be told it wasn't my fathers it was the leader of the light kingdoms'. And I now held that title. Held the title of leader until my coronation day where I'll become the Queen. I turned to my left seeing my mothers seat and mine right next to hers. The feeling was unsettling, emptying, lonely... all the above.

"Your majesty, King Niklaus of the dark kingdom ." A knight of my kingdom announced. I quickly stood not expecting that name to be called out. Knights from the kingdom of darkness began filing in the room. At most ten stood before me. Sitting back down I straightened myself out and tried to look as calm as possible.

The room grew deathly quite as slow echoing footsteps traveled down through the corridor.

He rounded the corner and I genuinely lost my breath. He was beautiful, the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. His blue eyes met mine even through the sheer fabric that covered my face. He had blonde curly hair that shaped his face in a way that pulled me towards him. From head to toe he wore black rich leathers and silk. But he wasn't dressed like a king but rather a warrior. He let a smirk spread across his face as he held a calm stance. His hand rested on the hilt of his sword and his head titled sizing me up.

"Good morrow princess." His voice came out louder than I had expected but what intrigued me was the British accent that rang free.

I stood and watched as every one of my men took a knee and lowered their heads. An overwhelming feeling of pride for my people and position overcame me. Klaus' eyes scanned the room impressed by the girls power over her people. He knew she was mourning someone but was unsure of who.

"King of darkness, what brings you to my court?" I let my voice echo like his and let it drip with power.

He raised his eyebrows at the girl challenging him. She knew why he was there and her playing dumb didn't amuse him by any means.

"I believe this to be a talk only me and you should have." He said leaning against the archway of the door staring at his fingernails.

I looked around the room at my men who remained in the crouch. They would until I dismissed them.

My eyes met Jacobs which were wide with disagreement.

"Leave me... Mathews stay." Was all I spoke. My men each got up in a row ushering the dark knights out of the room following them as soon as they all were out of the crown room. Klaus looked around the large room now only filled with him, the princess, and a guard.

"You wear black the color of death." Klaus said slowly stepping towards me. Jacob took his position in-front of me his hand tightly on his sword. He looked nervous, but not out of fear, but as if he was hiding something.

My eyes ran up and down his outfit.

"As do you." I took a seat on the throne looking down at him from his position below the steps. Five steps led up to the stage that held the three thrones. The rest of the room was decorated with rich gifts and trophies of the court.

"Princess let's address something my brother is missing. He is rather unintelligent, never thinking before he acts, I've had word he was seen here in this very kingdom. I would like to know if you, yourself have seen him." His voice was low and he spoke slowly as if to get his point across.

I swallowed shoving down all my anxieties to the deepest part of my being.

"Ahhh you came here for Kol." He raised his eyebrows at me surprised I admitted to it.

"Why else would I come where I need not to. Your kingdom as of right now has nothing I wish for-" Klaus' words died as the girl lifted the veil up off of her head. Her blonde curls fell around her perfectly symmetrical face. She had high cheekbones, pale skin, hazel eyes, and full lips that stretched its way across her face. Even from the distance he could see the smile lines that lined her cheeks.

"Nothing I wish for..." he finished at a loss for words. He had never had the actual breath taken from him before.

"Your brother broke the agreement but I see that you know that by you admitting you had a spy that informed you of Kol's residence here." Klaus smirked she was quick to catch on.

"Residence isn't the word I would use." I noticed his stance get more frigid and tense. He no longer seemed so carefree.

"Imprisonment." I said without another word he knew exactly where his brother was.

He smiled liking the girls confidence.

"I would like him returned to me and I can give you my word he will never step a foot in this kingdom again." Klaus had a bit of hope that the girl would just accept the offer and let him leave but he knew she wouldn't back down that easily.

"I would like something from you first." I said stepping down the steps while Jacob didn't steer anymore than a few inches away.

I was close to him now about an arms length away. If he wished to kill me right now he could, war would immediately immense but still he could easily do so.

He looked down at me his eyes burning into mine.

It looked as if he was deciding whether or not his brother was worth it.

"What would you like?" He asked biting his tongue from the fowl things that threatened to tumble out.

I eyed Jacob wondering if I should make him leave or if he should stay close by my side.

"Join me for a walk." I said it as a statement as I brushed past him. I turned as I reached the door. He seemed to be contemplating it. Realizing he had the clear advantage he nodded his head.

He walked up to me and Jacob followed right behind him.

"Stay here." Jacob shook his head with an absolute no.

"I'm a big girl, I can handle myself." I snapped at him. I was angry frustrated that he continued to ignore my orders. "You are not my father, but I am the soon to be Queen of this very kingdom and you will follow my orders." I said the sentence without any quiver to my voice.

"Yes your majesty." He said with an emotionless face. I could tell he bit back many words.

"Follow." I finished my last words directed at the king before I left the room.

"She must be a handful... Lucas." Klaus said hissing the mans real name. Jacob looked at the man terrified. "Don't look so scared Lu, your precious Caroline didn't hear anything." With that he turned on his heels following the blonde.

...

"Soon to be Queen, huh?" Klaus said looking at me with an intent stare. We walked side by side walking past a few maids who glued their eyes to the floor as soon as the king came into sight.

"My father and mother were both killed in the last month. Excuse me if the word wasn't sent to your kingdom, if it had been... well my messengers would never return home." I didn't say it with bitterness but just as a simple fact.

"I... I know how it feels to lose your parents. But I also know what it feels like to immediately be placed on the throne. Most wouldn't make it... will you?" Klaus wore a small smile that made one side of his mouth twitch up. He was challenging me wanting me to break my composure and lose it on him.

"I am making it. No matter what you or anyone else thinks. I was chosen to be Queen and I will complete my duty to my people. I am not one to turn my back on any challenge, no matter the advantage my apposition has." I said the statement, watching as Klaus caught on to my clear threat towards him.

"Stubborn you are." Klaus said with a smile, for a king said to be a monster he always seemed to wear a smile. Maybe it was just a cover, a way to manipulate others into thinking he's harmless.

"Here we are. Try anything and I'll have your head faster than you can use any of your supernatural abilities." Klaus nodded making me give him a pointed look.

"Just incase." I snapped my fingers making two guards appear behind him.

"Spooky..." he said in an echo as we walked down the stairs into the underground prison.

"Let me out of here you useless body bags!!" Kols voice ran through the prison echoing off of the walls. "My brother is a scary man he will end you!!" Klaus snorted with laugher causing me to furrow my eyebrows. Childish.

"Stand." I ordered Kol as I came to the door and looked through the small window of bars.

"Come make me." Kol bit back. I rolled my eyes shoving open the door as I grabbed the back of his shirt and hauled him up. Even being half his size weight and nearly height wise I did so without showing any effort. But in reality I had to use all my strength. Luckily he was weakened by a potion my personal herbs mixologist made. I wasn't sure of what all the potion contained but my mother said vervain was a spells best friend. I turned towards the door seeing Klaus not there.

"Are you ready to tell me what I want?" I said directly with a smooth straight forward voice.

"I simply was picking apples in that lovely garden of yours." I rolled my eyes feeling my rage growing.

"Kol if you wish to be free I'd simply like to know why you were here. I couldn't imagine you coming all this way for a simple meal. Not when villages and farms run miles along the court before you actually reach the kingdom." Kol looked me up and down. He looked uneasy like I was close to revealing something I shouldn't.

"Brother." Klaus' voice rang free from behind me causing me to slightly jump. He smiled feeling successful.

"Nik." Kol went to run but was ripped back by the incredibly thick chains.

"We have an agreement with the kingdom of light we don't feed off of their people." I flinched involuntarily by the word feed. "Now I must argue my way to an agreement with this lovely Princess. Whose clearly." He pointed up and down at my dress before saying "going through a lot."

"Excuse me." My voice loomed over them causing the arguing to stop. "I will allow your brother passage back to your home under one condition." Klaus raised his eyebrows at me.

"What would you like?" I bit my lip roughly nerves running through my body.

"I want to learn about your world, you are a constant threat and the only way to protect myself against you is if I know somewhat what you're capable of. I don't want the inner secrets of your kingdom, I simply want to understand what you are." My voice was quick and straight forward I wasn't lying to him but it seemed like he was contemplating trusting me.

"My brother can go home in return for how much information. Do you want to know the numbers of my army or better yet all of our my families history? What is it you're looking for?" He seemed interested in whatever response I would give. I felt a pang of anxiety as he stepped closer to me.

"I know you live off human blood, I know you have capabilities beyond any human, but I have no idea how far those capabilities stretch. I don't even know what to call you, or how many species of supernaturals are out there. I know nothing and clearly that is unsafe for me and my kingdom. In return yes your brother is free to go home and whatever me and you discuss will remain between the two of us. I don't trust anyone in this court. I have just came into rule, no one knows how I will rule or if I will be a good one at that. Every move I make someone is watching, waiting for me to make a mistake. I need allies and the biggest threat to my kingdom seems like the best place to start." His eyes slid over my body, he was studying my movements, trying to catch me in a lie.

"I will comply to this agreement under one little condition." I instantly felt myself roll my eyes. It was a habit I would need to break.

"What..." I said with a long drawn out sigh.

"The prince shall remain here with me, for seven days and six nights I shall remain here in your kingdom. I will teach you, teach you about the darkness your kingdom seems to push away at any cost." I looked from the King to his brother, the prince. I wished I could ask my mother for advice in what to do. I was horrible at deciding things when under stress. I liked thinking about every possible solution. Control is something I craved.

"I'll have two guards outside your door at all times, accompanying you wherever you or Kol go. You will not wonder around and will hold your tongue. No matter if your speaking to one of my advisors or commoners you will show respect, the both of you will. Is that understood?" Without even thinking about it I held that strong powerful voice that my mother used to have. That all royals have really.

"Can't I just got home?" Kol complained rubbing at his wrists that were stained with dried blood. But I noticed no wound to be there.

Klaus was quiet as he looked at the wall in deep thought.

"We will accept this agreement." He took my hand shaking it quickly. I felt embarrassed at the little amount of strength I put into it.

--

"Why the hell have you gotten us stuck in the land of ponies and butterflies?" Kol snapped and me as we watched our maids unpack our luggage.

He laid on the bed compelling a maid, drinking from her, and soon he would heal her.

"Do you not see what has happened? We have found our way in, soon enough we will make our attack on the light kingdom and we would have overtaken the three biggest kingdoms. Fire, light, and soon we will embark on overtaking the kingdom of ice." Kol scoffed at me. I knew he was thinking about how egotistical and power hungry I was. And I didn't disagree, I found it as one of my strengths rather than one of my weaknesses.

"Nik I am stuck her for a week! I mean maybe I could open up some girls eyes to something these pretty boys never could." I couldn't help but let out a chuckle at my younger brothers antics.

"And when would you get the time for that Kol? There's going to be guards at our feet the whole day." Kol looked at me as if I were missing something.

"We compel them to bend to our rules. It's pretty simple Niklaus." Kol spoke quickly with a smirk.

"So you've both came to the kingdom of light to do what, wreck havoc?" I hissed a breath of air as I turned around to see my older brother standing on the balcony with a scowl.

"Elijah have you left our baby sister at the palace by herself?" I snapped standing quickly.

"She requested I follow the both of you actually. She's worried about us as a family. She said she can't stop thinking about mother's death." Me and Kol shared a look feeling sadness overcome us.

"Mother never cared for any of us, I don't know why she doesn't seem to understand that." Elijah gave me a look of despair.

"She was still our mother Niklaus. Sister she's... complicated in the matter of her emotions." I knew Rebekah better than anyone on this earth, clearly I could see the inner turmoil that bubbled its way throughout her. But we needed to be strong and I only wished she knew how I also went through it.

"I have made an agreement with the soon to be Queen." Elijahs eyes grew at the word Queen.

"Her parents..."

"Both dead. She's young and knew to the throne, overtaking her defenses would be quite easy considering the amount I seen when I arrived." I knew instantly Kol would love the idea and Elijah would hate it.

"These people have nothing we want. We live in harmony with the three other biggest kingdoms. Whose to say the other small kingdoms won't join together for the first time in centuries to overpower us." I laughed at my brother. Mocking him by his thoughts of us ever getting defeated. "It isn't funny brothers, do as you wish but I will have no part in it. Just remember when our walls come tumbling down I warned you." With that he flashed away jumping out of the window.

"Dramatic." Kol muttered causing us to once again chuckle.
