Chapter 17
Ishita was lying down in poonam's bedroom, still feeling like her head was pounding and getting heavy, but she was quick to get up in defense, when the door opened to a stranger.
"oh, hi. Uhh, don't worry, i just needed to get away, from...people..." remarked dushyant, as he seated himself on the edge of the bed and lit up his cigarette.
Ishita hugged her knees, as she rested her head on the wall, a little agitated with his prescence, which he noticed.
"uhmm, don't worry, murder nahi karunga tumhara..." joked dushyant, as ishita just shot daggers at him.
"joke tha...seriously, main bas, party itni crowded, kahi bhi do minute sukoon se baith bhi nahi sakte...and yahan se pata nahi chalega, but the music is so loud..." he explained, as he noticed she looked a little uneasy.
"are you okay?" he asked with concern, as she nodded in agreement.
"let me guess, tum woh scotch peeke behosh ho gayi aur ab sarr bhari lag raha hai..." he said with a scoff after exhaling the smoke.
"well, to be fair, it was my first time drinking..." remarked ishita.
"pehli baar hi mein tumhe scotch pilaadi kisine...kaise dost hai bhai..." retorted dushyant, as he continued to smoke.
"dost nahi, meri maa ki friend ki beti hai, i was helping her with physics, and she was very eager to make me leave early for her party, but then she got worried i might tell my mom so...i got invited.." clarified ishita, as she let out a groan in pain.
"ab scotch peene ke baad, batane ka koi chance nahi hai..." concluded dushyant, as she nodded in agreement with a chuckle, which he reciprocated.
"toh tum kaise pahaunche yahan?" questioned ishita, as she spread her legs vertically on the bed.
"oh i just came here for the cigarettes, i don't even like poonam..." responded dushyant.
"right, she is selling drinks too...if you are interested.." informed ishita.
"nahi, mujhe chakkar khaake nahi letna..." detested dushyant, as they both shared another chuckle.
"i don't think aaj se pehle mujhse poonam ne dhang se baat bhi ki thi...and i feel so stupid now, i should have just gone home..." regretted ishita, as she leaned a bit forward, and rubbed her forehead.
"well, i'm not gonna lie, that would have been better..." agreed dushyant.
"not really, i would be at a family dinner where my mom would be talking to my dad about how horrible i am in front of me..." remarked ishita, as dushyant scoffed.
"well, atleast you have a family to go back home to..." stated dushyant.
"why, what happened to your family?" asked ishita.
"well, my mom ran away, my dad is having a hard time with that, and my best friend won't talk to me..." listed dushyant all of his problems.
"what the hell happened to your best friend?" followed ishita with a question.
"i don't know, she just, doesn't want to talk to me since the night my mom left...and it's been weeks now, and literally, i just came to poonam's party because i thought it's better to smoke in a house full of strangers than go to my own house..." complaint dushyant.
"well, you don't like poonam, obviously, at all..." noted ishita, as they both shared a chuckle.
"trust me though, it's not so bad to have a home where you can be alone..." consoled ishita, as they shared a gaze for a few moments.
It had been a long while since they both had ever felt so connected with someone, it was this moment of comfort at a time they needed it the most, and that feeling was enough to make them lock their lips for a kiss.
Sometimes when you are at your rock bottom and lonely, you just might find someone who gets it and somehow, that is all to make a difference.
The alarm clock rang as ishita got up unwantedly, still with a smile on her face, it was a dream she never wanted to end, because it was the only way she could relive that night again and again.
She got ready for college and came out of her bedroom, ready to leave only to be interrupted by her father.
"uhh, ishu." He called as she walked to him.
"haan papa." She said, as he handed her over the blue diary.
"yeh, poonam deke gayi thi shaam ko, dimaag se nikal gaya tha dena..." informed her father, as she took the diary hesitantly, wondering what was it doing with poonam, who had just said yesterday that she did not have it.
"thanks, uh, i should leave, bye!" she said as she exited.
Dushyant was composing himself in front of the mirror as kavin grabbed his bag.
"sun, aaj teri gaadi ya meri?" asked dushyant.
"ab hum roz, purvi ko lift denge?"questioned kavin.
"nahi, par jab tak toh date ke liye nahi puchega, aisa hi free ka bahana use karna padega..." responded dushyant.
"yaar, abhi kahan se, matlab..." flustered kavin.
"dekho, main na harooz kabab mein haddi nahi banna chahta, so if it hasn't been clear to you, she likes you...just ask her out." Commanded dushyant.
"how about i do that when you ask out ishita?" quipped kavin.
"well played.." remarked dushyant, as kavin bowed and they both left.
Dushyant honked his car for the society guard to open the gate, as kavin spotted purvi from the passenger seat.
"hey." Greeted kavin as he slid down the window, as purvi grew anxious and froze at her spot.
"hadd hai, khudh daayan jaise shakal leke, humein aise dekh rahi hai jaise bhoot hoon..." remarked dushyant, as kavin slapped his arm.
"kya...purvi!" yelled dushyant.
"haan-haan...uhh, woh, uhmmm, aaj main bus se hi jaungi..uhh...jao tum dono..." said purvi, as dushyant and kavin gazed at each other, perplexed.
Suddenly, her bus came, to which she ran.
"isse kya hua?" asked kavin, as dushyant just shrugged his shoulders.
"arre sahab aage badlo! Gate band karna hai..." complaint the guard, as dushyant started to drive.
"guard se bhi tanne padwa diye isne!" remarked dushyant, as kavin wondered what just happened.
Author's note: so, first of all, now it is clear ki woh kaunsi raat thi jab ishyant mile aur kya hua. Now, kavin's chini, yeah, it was a twisty ending, glad u liked it. secondly, pari singhaniya, thanks for your reviews, just saw them in the morning, led to a great start for the day, now let me just reply to each one by one.
For chapter 13 review: yes, it is a very unfortunate reality, and i always think that telling stories is mostly just about expressing how you think the world is, so yeah, and your reviews do make me so happy, they are so detailed and it makes you feel so good to see tiny things being noticed and appreciated.
For chapter 14 review: glad you liked the confrontation, i am glad to that finally i can stop making kavin and dushyant fight. And yes, the teasing part is more fun to write. Also, i agree, shivani could have dealt better with her problems, but that's how people are really, so...
For chapter 15: glad this chapter was entertaining, i myself grew tired from the secrets and drama, so just writing about the trio having fun was really fun for me too. And about the kaand part, see, i am from delhi, and especially in our sardar community here, whenever a boy and a girl sleep together, it's just referred to as kaand. I am sorry if that created any confusion for anyone, its just, K+ rating hai, thoda ambiguous hona pada.
For chapter 16: yes, this was one of the biggest twists i had planned, there is one more, it'll be the final one, and i am just glad to see such a great response for it. yes, i guess dushyant's snarky remarks was put into good use when replying to poonam and glad you liked the ishyant moment, i too was just laughing and smiling while writing it, it's just small and subtle moments i appreciate in romance, so glad it made you happy too.
Thanks to subhi for your review as well, and obviously, there's still more to uncover in the story, so keep reading.
