Chapter 46: Between Parent and Child

Miyuki keeps her calm expression as Kikyo manifests from the locket she cast a spell from. Kikyo returns the expression. "Hello, mom. I was told by Inuyasha that you might have the answer to my decision." Kikyo gets to the bottom of the reason for her confrontation with Tsubaki. "Tell me what's on your mind, Kikyo." Miyuki encourages her to talk.

Kikyo has told her mother what she decided to do when she faces Tsubaki. Miyuki sighs. "Kikyo you know that revenge was never the answer. No matter what the situation is. Has your soul been tainted with such wrath?" Miyuki spoke in a more serious tone this time. Kikyo pauses, "It has, mother. I know how much I want to face her. And the final choice I was led to was killing her. And I know that was wrong of me." She admits her errors.

Miyuki can tell that her daughter has mature for this regardless the age and time she was raised as a priestess. "What do you think I should do, mom?" Kikyo asks calmly after her snapped out burst. "What other option should I go for?" Miyuki can see that Kikyo is at a stand still. "Did Inuyasha say anything that could work for this?" She asks an obvious question that reminded Kikyo what Inuyasha suggested.

"There was one, mom. The council." Kikyo said with a straight face. Miyuki remembers something about the laws between humans and demon and their decisions in the end. "I guess this is the only way to send your soul to peace if it works in our favor." Miyuki comments that part. Kikyo agrees with that. "But then there's something to make sure it's fool proof." Miyuki adds in. Kikyo tilts her head. "There's one way to make sure it works. And it's at the shop where the locket came from. If I were to know any better, I bet Inuyasha, and Kagome are going there as well. We should go with them." Miyuki advised her. Kikyo nods and fades back into the locket. Miyuki smiles as she picks up the locket and put it into her purse. She walks upstairs to the main floor of the house. She sees Kagome getting her shoes out. "Oh, going somewhere?" Miyuki asks her niece.

Kagome looks up to see Miyuki looking at her curiously. "Oh,yeah, Inuyasha and I are going to the store where he got the locket." Kagome answers her aunt. "Don't mind if I come too?" Miyuki asks her bluntly. Kagome would never expect something her aunt would say. Kagome turns to Inuyasha for what he thinks about Miyuki's request. "She can come. After all we both have to get this taken care of as soon as possible." Inuyasha smiles to them. Miyuki smiles back and hopes into his car and head off to the shop. Mrs. Hitori

The boardwalk is getting a nice breeze blowing onto the shores of the beach. The shops are still opened for potential customers to buy their products and make a good profit. One shop in particular has no need for such. Well, it's the owner herself who thinks of that. And that shop is 'Little Secrets.' Mrs. Hitori is just keeping track of the payments and business. The bell dings to let her look up and see familiar faces. "It's been a while, Ai and Miyuki." She smiles at them. The two smiled back. "It really has been, Hitori." Miyuki smiles to her. Mrs. Hitori comes to her counter. "So what can I help you with?" She asks them. "Actually there's a few more coming to meet us here." Ai said to her as she helps Miyuki take a seat. Hitori looks concerned. "Are you ok, Miyuki." She comes up to her.

Miyuki waves it ok. "I'm okay, I just had food poison awhile back and it did a number on me." She tells her story. "What kind of ailments do you have?" Hitori asks. "I can walk for a while but then my legs wear out." Miyuki explains to the one ailment so far. Hitori understands where this is going. The bell dings again. The ladies look up to see Inuyasha letting Kagome and Kaede in and come in after them. "Hey, we're here." Kagome tells them first. "So what is that brings you here?" Mrs. Hitori ask the kids.

"We were wondering if you that mannequin?" Miyuki asks her curiously. Mrs. Hitori looks are her questionably. "Why do you need it?" Miyuki digs into her pocket to pull of the locket. "We've decided to start a trial and we need to use the mannequin for Kikyo to make her appearance in front of the council." Inuyasha to her for their reason. Mrs. Hitori looks doubtful. "Are you sure you want to use it? It's only a prototype and it hasn't been used to completion." She said to them seriously.

"Did something happen to it?" Kaede asks her now. "Let's just say that it has an error that almost lost the host." Mrs. Hitori tells her with the same tone. "I guess that explains why you're skeptical about this." Kaede comments dryly. That made Miyuki looks at her in disbelief. "Sorry about that. I didn't mean to be rude." Kaede bows her apology. Mrs. Hitori waves it off. "It's ok. I'm just worried that if Kikyo's possessed this item, she could be lost forever and not rest in peace." She explains to Kaede.

That alone has made the room completely uneasy at that point. "What caused the mannequin to lose the host?" Kagome asks her after a moment of silence in the room." Mrs, Hitori frowns. "I was trying to help a spirit to make it noticeable to the public eye, but then something interfered with it." So far that's all she can tell them. Just hearing it was painful for her to continue. Mrs. Hitori feels so much pressure the moment she stopped. "I'm sorry. Please excuse me for a moment." She leaves the room.

Kagome could sense how much Mrs. Hitori is going through. Could this be the best idea that she and the others might know so far? From the looks of it, it's the only way to pull this off for Kikyo's sake and as well as Tsubaki's trial. They're stuck where they are. There's no much they can do at this point until Mrs. Hitori calms down to return and see rather or not that she can help them out.
