Ranma tried to get up, everything was spinning. She couldn't make out anything except the red dripping over her eyes. Suddenly she felt a hand upon her cheek, lifting her head up. She blinked trying to clear the blood from her vision. In front of her hovered the fuzzy form of a dark haired boy, only his sharp green eyes stood out. Something was familiar about them.
He said something but she couldn't hear it. He shook her hastily, and she tried to say something but only incoherent mumbling came out. She couldn't think, could only tell that her head hurt like hell. That these pretty green eyes were staring down at her.
Her eyes absently turned to the side of the boys heads as a dark figure seemed to leap up behind him. She tried to warn the strange boy, but he was already up. When did he move?
Ranma swayed and with a thud her back collided with the ground. She absently took notice that she was now staring at the sky. Blue... where's the green? The familiar green...
Everything turned black.
The ground was moving, or was she moving... something was pressed against her side. She tried to open her eyes, the black fuzz only clearing up slightly.
Instead of blue sky she saw a face. They weren't looking at her. The background around him was moving too fast for her to register. She was moved slightly, making her realize he was carrying her.
She tried to lift her head but it was too heavy and she collapsed back into the boys chest. He didn't seem to notice. She blinked, trying to clear her vision. Trying to ignore the throbbing through her head. She glanced back up at the boy, catching glimpse of green. Oddly comforting green eyes... He seemed... familiar.
Her thoughts stopped as everything got very very dizzy. Darkness overcame her vision.
Light. Bright, bright light. It penetrated her eyes and did not help the head ache. She groaned. Raising her stinging arm to block it.
"Oh, sorry, is that too bright?" A kind voice asked. The next thing she knew the offending light was gone.
She blinked trying to get her eyes to adjust. With a grunt she pushed herself up. Ranma looked around, it seemed like... well she wasn't sure, the word was at the tip of her tung though.
She turned her head to where the voice had come from. There stood a tall, kind looking man with round glasses. She absently looked up at his eyes, not sure what she was looking for. Whatever it was, he wasn't it.
"Who..." she croaked, her voice felt soar.
The mans smile turned to a frown. "You don't recognize me?"
Ranma shook her head.
The man let out a soft sigh, a sort of sad smile replaced his frown. "Well, I'm Dr Tofu."
A doctor?
"Do you know your name?" He asked.
Ranma blinked. She opened her mouth to respond... but she couldn't think of anything. She slowly shut it and looked down shaking her head.
The doctor took a step forward and pulled out a chair. He sat down in front of her.
"Do you remember anything?"
Ranma looked around blankly, trying to think, but the harder she tried to think the more her head hurt. "I... I.." She reached up and clutched her skull, holding back a whimper.
A hand found it's way to her shoulder. "Don't push yourself."
"I..." She looked up at the doctor, "do you-?"
Dr Tofu went to nod when the door flung open. There stood a yellow clad boy. He blinked confused for a moment before a hand shot up to the back of his head.
"Uh.. sorry, I was looking for the bathroom. Heh.."
Tofu stood, "it's alright."
The lost boy glanced over at Ranma. She caught his glance.
Something sparked in her memories, but she couldn't make it out. Something about him just seemed so familiar...
Dr Tofu approached the boy and went to point him in the proper direction.
Ranma began to slowly processed that the only since of familiarity she had was about to leave the room. She went to get up, but found no use in her legs. Ranma collapsed to the floor, wincing as her shoulder collided with the wood.
- The doctor and the boy both stopped. Soon Dr Tofu was at her side helping her back up, "what happened?"
Ranma weakly sat up, looking towards the lost boy with shaking eyes. "I.. don't go..." she whispered softly, but they heard it.
Ryoga's eyes widened. "What, what?"
"Do you know me?" She asked uncertainly. Something like hope shown in her eyes.
Ryoga blinked and turned towards Dr Tofu who had an unsure look himself. "I, of course I know you!" Ryoga shook his head, "what's up with her, Doc?"
Dr Tofu had a resigned and soft look on his face.
"Tofu?"
He sighed, "I'm afraid Ranma might have amnesia, Ryoga."
Ryoga's eyes widened, "h-huh?"
Ranma blinked between them, unsure what was happening, and still not getting as many answers as she'd hope. She decided to focus on one part though.
Ranma looked down at hands resting in her lap.
"Ranma?" She repeated. She looked up at them, "is that my name?"
The two martial artists looked back towards Ranma. The only answer she got was a slight nod. They seemed uncomfortable and worried and she wasn't entirely sure why. Couldn't they just tell her what's going on? And why that boy just seems so familiar?
Tofu coughed awkwardly in his hand before continuing, "so, Ranma, are you sure you can't remember anything?"
Ranma tapped her fingers gently on her legs, trying to think. "Not really... but," she looks towards Ryoga, "I feeeel like I know him."
"You do?" At Ranma's nod, the doctor smiled, "then that's a good start. Anything specific about him that sparks remembrance?"
Ranma stares blankly at the doctor.
"What makes you think you know him?"
"Oh.. um..." Ranma stares long and hard at the lost boy. "I'm.. not sure... I guess his.. green?"
"Green?" Doctor Tofu straightens up, and turns his head towards Ryoga. "Do you mean his eyes?" He inquired.
Ranma thought about it for a moment. "Yeah! And just something about him I can't place."
"I.. see.." Dr Tofu slowly said. "His eyes then. Anything about them other than the color?"
Ranma blinked. And proceeded to shrug.
Tofu sighed and reassured Ranma they'd be right back before taking Ryoga to a separate room.
"What is it?" Ryoga started, "Can you do anything about it?" Ryoga quickly asked. How was he suppose to challenge Ranma when she was like this?!
"There's not much I can do to treat amnesia, the best option is to see if things start to come back in their own."
"How long will that take?!"
"Who knows... but Ryoga," Tofu turned towards the boy, he turns to a very serious tone. "she has a lot of enemies that would love to take advantage of this."
There was silence.
"You would be the best option, she seems to at least somewhat recognize you. And you're one of the best here."
More silence.
"Please Ryoga, she needs help. And we both know what could happen if..." Tofu was cut off.
"Fine."
"Really?" He blinked it surprise, not quite expecting Ryoga to agree.
"I said I'll do it, but only until she remembers how to fight herself." He said crossing his arms and looking away. To hide the real worry threatening to show.
Ranma raised her head slowly, looking up as they came back into the room.
Dr Tofu stepped forward, leaning down to address her in a friendly manor.
"Ranma."
"Yeah..?"
"I'm going to call the Tendo's, who will come here soon to pick you up." He told her.
"The.. Tendo's?"
He nodded, "you've been staying at their dojo for awhile now, there with your father."
She blinked, "oh."
Dr Tofu turned and left the room.
Ranma decided to look towards the boy leaning against the wall across the room.
She stared, not sure what to say, she had plenty of questions like who she was and how they knew each other... but she wasn't sure which one to start with, and everything was still too confusing...
"Would you stop that!"
She zoomed back and blinked at him. "Huh?"
"Stop staring at me!"
Ranma's eyes widened and she looked down, a slight tinge of red appeared on her cheeks.
She heard him grumble something under his breath.
As she started down at the bandages wrapped around her arms she couldn't help but wonder... what happened?
