Chapter 51: The Test
Kagome spots the locket on the statue and is about to take it off. "I'll take that off your hands, Kagome." Mrs. Hitori spoke as she comes onto the patio. "Besides, I need to bring this back to my shop." Mrs. Hitori is about to pick up the statue, but Inuyasha beats her to it. "I'll carry it to the van." He does the deed, leaving the girls alone. "I'm glad that Kikyo found peace. But what did she mean about a test on relationships?" Mrs. Hitori said to Kagome. "I have no idea to be honest. It's new to me." Kagome shrugs her shoulders. "I might as well head back to my shop." Mrs. Hitori leaves the girl. She sees Inuyasha about to pass her, "Hey, make her happy." She advices him before driving off.
Inuyasha walks around to see Kagome is sitting on the lounge chair he was sitting earlier. "Hey." Kagome said to him first. Inuyasha sits by her. "I hope that her being here was ok for you." Kagome said to him after building enough courage to speak her mind. "Yeah. It was nice to see her again. The only I couldn't stop thinking was this test she mentioned before departing." Inuyasha replies. "From what she said that she failed it and I didn't finish it." Kagome is trying her best to figure it out. "Maybe the reason why she failed was because of her death. But then again, you two weren't meant to be together." She theorizes calmly. "That could be true. And for me not finishing it. I don't seem to get it." Inuyasha holds his head with his hands while placing his elbows on his knees. It takes Kagome a few minutes to figure out the riddle. "I think I'm part of the test." She mumbles. Inuyasha turns to her. "What are you talking about? You have nothing to do with it." He objects her idea. "I'm somehow including into it without realizing it." Kagome speaks up a little clearer. "Then I guess that I'm the one who needs to finish your test." Inuyasha is about to object again until Kagome kisses him on to the lips.
At first Inuyasha wants to pull back from the surprise stunt. But instead, Kagome pulls back. "Sorry. I don't what came over me." Kagome turns her head away, not to show her blushing face. She is about to leave her seat, until Inuyasha pulls her back into his arms and kisses her again. 'I don't know what I'm doing either, but I find it nice.' Inuyasha's mind said as well. It took a few more seconds until the two had to breath. "I guess that kiss was to end the test." Kagome couldn't think of anything else. For her to kiss, pulled away, and ten being kissed by him was too much to think over and over. Inuyasha on the other end isn't too sure. But then again, he'll had to acknowledge that. "So then…what now?" Kagome asks him.
"Let's be a couple." Inuyasha said a few seconds later. Kagome turns to him. "I'm sorry. What?" She's confused at that remark. Inuyasha just looks at her attentively. "I'm flattered, Inuyasha. But I just don't know if I'm ready for it. I know for sure you had your own relationship, and I shouldn't be criticizing it. I for one, am still trying to get over my own after what Koga did behind my back. I could never forgive him for that." Kagome reminds him in the end. Even though she was right about her part.
"That's not what I meant, Kagome." Inuyasha spoke to stop her from making any more excuses. If that's really true on that part as well. "I mean that even though we've been through rough times with the person we really loved and trusted turned out not to be together. We just have to look a bit further than we thought in order to find that missing piece." He tries to explain to her as much as he could to make sure that Kagome would understand him.
"The reason why I'm flattered is because I would somehow remind of my cousin because we almost look like twins. I couldn't put you through that. I'd be a copy to your first girlfriend. It'd be as if I never even existed in front of you when you see me." Kagome tries to turn the down the offer gently, not to hurt his feeling. Well, more like she was hurting her own feelings to spare his.
"And that's why I prefer that we do it. The moment I saw you through my window when you moved in next door, I knew for sure that you had something that Kikyo never really had." Inuyasha takes her hand into his own. "What was it that I had?" Kagome questions him curiously. "Love. Not just from you, but your family as well. There's a big difference between your love and Kikyo's love. You see, whenever someone found someone else they love, they'd bring him or her to the family to see what they think about it. For Kikyo's family never seems to like me because of my heritage. Your family welcomed me with open arms and I'm grateful for that." He said to her.
Hearing the sincerely in his voice has convinced Kagome. "I had no idea that my family would be like that. Other than my dad and I knew for sure he'd be very protective of me because I'm his only daughter…" She was then silent with another kiss. 'Ok, you win.' She admits in her head and returns the kiss. "From now on, we're a couple and I don't want to hear anymore complaining." Inuyasha suggests to her. Kagome agrees with his terms and they kiss again to make it official.
THE END
I want to thank everyone who has read my story. Sorry for it took me awhile to come up with new chapters due to the writer's block. As such, I might take a break from writing or come up with a brand new story to add to my page
