Today is Thursday after school. The day before the exam.
After Chabashira-sensei finished class and left the classroom, Kushida headed to the front of the classroom.
They all sat staring at her. In his hands, there were more than three dozen pieces of paper. They were the copies of the old exam, but I wasn't sure if they were mine or Ayanokōji's.
"Everyone, before you come back, would you mind listening to me for a moment?"
Naturally, everyone in the classroom began to mutter their agreement and allowed Kushida to continue. Even Sudō stopped and listened.
No one in their right mind would turn down Kushida's request. Well ... maybe just Horikita, but I don't think it's a good move on her part after Kushida helped her with the study group.
"I know all of you have been studying hard in preparation for tomorrow's exam. I have something to help you. I'm going to turn in some papers."
Kushida started handing out the questions and answer sheets to everyone in the first finale. Naturally, those of were in the first final, after obtaining their sheet. They passed the remaining sheets to their partner from behind.
Yōsuke handed me the remaining sheets when he got his share. Accept the leftover sheets then look briefly to see which sheets I should keep.
When I have my share, I pass the leftover leaves to Sotomura, who accepts them immediately.
"These are ..." I heard a surprised Matsushita say in a low voice.
"These are test questions" I finished for her.
Matsushita looked at me before narrowing her eyes.
"You don't seem surprised"
"I'm surprised believe me. I'm very curious to know how Kushida got them, this is a totally unexpected turn" I replied, but it seems that she did not believe me and looked at me suspiciously.
Well, I guess it was totally normal for her to be suspicious, Kushida and I had become closer since I confronted her about her past. She always came to my room to take out her frustrations, so we both got closer was a totally natural thing.
I could feel the envoy gaze of several guys when Kushida and I spoke in public, but not like I cared.
When reading the contents of the sheet. I realized that it was the same test that I have stored in my room. So I didn't need to have a copy that I already have, but I had to do it for the looks of it.
"Questions ... from the exam? Did you ask them, Kushida-san?" Horikita was also surprised.
"Actually, these are problems from an old exam. I got them from a third-year senpai last night."
"Problems from an old exam? Huh? Are these questions really valid?
"Yes. Two years ago, the midterm had almost the same questions like the one for this set of problems. So if you practice, I think we'll do better."
"Whoah! Really? Kushida-chan, thank you!" Ike embraced his test happily.
Everyone else was also shocked by this turn of events and began to praise Kushida as a goddess. Obviously, Kushida had a happy smile on her face and it was quite genuine.
Matsushita was looking at me sideways while I was reading the contents of the sheet. She wasn't going to let it go, was she?
With a sigh, I took out my phone and I texted him telling him to meet me in my room later because I had something to say to him. But I told him I had to do a few things first so I was going to let him know.
I blame Ayanokōji and my knowledge of the future for this.
At least with that message, it will stop being so obvious. If Matsushita kept looking askance then Yōsuke and Karuizawa would realize that something was happening between us.
After a few minutes. The whole class started to leave in a good mood, but I had been distracted looking at the window, exactly at the birds that were in the tree.
I could feel someone looking at me like they were waiting for something. I looked over my shoulder to see what it was about. I could see Kushida and Horikita talking while Ayanokōji was a bystander.
I tried checking my memories asking if the light novel said anything about it. A brief memory came to mind.
This was the part where Kushida was telling Horikita that she hated her, right? Should I interfere? No, I think that would be reckless of me, it was also none of my business.
With a sigh I approached them, contradicting my own logic.
"Hey Kushida, do you want to walk to the bedrooms with me?"
"Oh, Nakatomi-kun. Sure! I was about to leave"
Horikita gave me a glare for rudely interrupting their conversation.
I looked at Kushida silently, who was putting her textbook and notes in her backpack.
"Nakatomi-kun can you give us a moment. I have something to say to Kushida-san"
I stared at her for a few seconds before giving in "Fine, but can you give me your contact information, Horikita?" asked.
"My contact information? What do you need it for? I can't see any reason why you want my contact information. So why?" Horikita asked me questioning me.
I couldn't tell her that I wanted to befriend her because she would reject me immediately. I wasn't looking to befriend Horikita, but having her contact information can be quite helpful.
Raise an eyebrow. "Well, you owe me a favor, right? When I know what I'm going to use it for, I'll send you a message. I hope you'll answer me when I do"
Horikita sighed "Good. I'm not one to break their words. Just don't text me unless it has to do with something from school. I'm not interested in wasting time on other things."
Horikita wrote her contact information on a slip of paper before handing it to me.
"Don't worry, I won't" I promised him. "Before I go, Ayanokōji, can you give me your contact information?" I asked while looking at him.
"Oh Sure" Ayanokōji took out his cell phone so he could exchange information. It didn't take long for each of us to have each other's information.
"I hope we can be friends, Ayanokōji," I said before offering a handshake, Ayanokōji did not hesitate to accept it quickly.
Ayanokōji nodded acknowledging my words.
Before leaving the room, I gave Kushida one last glance.
I was waiting for a few minutes near the stairs to leave the school complex. My back was leaning against the wall as I had my arms crossed and my eyes closed.
"Nakatomi-kun, are we going?" A voice spoke to me causing me to open my eyes again.
Kushida was looking at me while smiling, but that smile didn't reach her eyes. I could tell that she was somewhat frustrated.
"You are well?" I asked for.
"Yes. You don't need to worry" Kushida dismissed me.
With that, we both left the school complex. We were walking in silence. The atmosphere was quite uncomfortable due to Kushida being in a bad mood.
"You told him?"
I asked him breaking the silence after sighing. Our walk didn't stop and no one could overhear our conversation either.
"To say that?" Kushida looked at me in frustration. Even when she kept her facade I could tell.
"To Horikita. That you hate her, I mean"
"Did you hear our conversation?" She asked looking.
"No, but you just confirmed it to me," I said smiling slightly.
I was not lying. It was the truth, I had not heard the conversation that Kushida had with Horikita, but it is a little suspicious to know and Kushida realized. But he didn't tell me anything.
"You will help me, right? Nakatomi-kun" Kushida asked me instead.
"Yes. I told you, didn't I? If Horikita tries something against you, I'll defend you ... Anyway, why did you tell her you to hate her? I thought it would be better if she didn't know?"
"She caught me. It didn't matter if I was pretending or not. Horikita-san is quite sharp. So I'm not surprised that she has seen through me, my true feelings to some extent."
"You get closer to Horikita because you're worried that she might know about you, right?"
"Yes ..." Kushida replied.
"I had not told you before that, Horikita is not interested in you. She is a person who does not care about anyone but herself. She only helped Sudō and the others because it benefits the class. Nothing more and nothing less."
"I know that! But it still bothers me not to know. I want to be sure that Horikita-san doesn't know about the incident at my old school" Kushida snapped at me in a low voice.
"You won't be calm until you know it even if I tell you that Horikita isn't interested, right?" asked.
"¡No!"
I sighed wearily "Good. I'll find out if Horikita knows about you. So, don't do anything reckless again."
"How do you plan to do that?" Kushida asked me.
"Isn't that obvious? I'll use the favor to create a scenario where I can get information from her. Without Horikita suspecting my true motive."
"I see. Then I'll charge you, Nakatomi-kun."
"Good. Just calm down will you? You don't need to stress. When I know the truth I'll tell you immediately."
Kushida bit her lip thoughtfully before releasing with a sigh "Okay. Thanks, Nakatomi-kun"
"You don't need to be grateful. We are allies, right?"
"Yes, I suppose we are" Kushida gently nudged my ribs.
A huff came out of my mouth. We were walking in silence without saying anything to each other. Then he remembered that he needed to do one important thing before heading back to the bedrooms.
"Hey. Can we stop by the vending machine? It made me want to have a Coke" I asked.
Kushida shrugged without saying anything.
I'll take it as a yes.
After we bought the drinks. In my case, I bought all the Coca-Cola that was in the vending machine. Kushida obviously looked at me in surprise.
I told him that my favorite drink was Coca-Cola and that I didn't want to go back to the machine several times just to buy more. I gave Kushida a drink, which he gladly accepted.
A few moments later we went into the bedrooms and parted company. I didn't find anyone I met on the way, so I quickly entered my room once I opened the door with the key card.
I took off my shoes, after that, I went to the fridge to store the drinks, I turned on the air conditioning while I took off my jacket and my tie and hung it up.
I sat on my bed writing a message before sending it.
Contact: Chiaki Matsushita.
[I am free. You can come to my room if you want. Floor 4, Room 338]
[Well, I just want to ask you a few things] Chiaki Matsushita.
[Why do you want to know more about me?]
[I want to know more about you. You don't usually talk about yourself a lot, you know? So it's completely normal for someone to take an interest in you] Chiaki Matsushita.
[I don't think anyone is interested in a guy like me. No one has asked me anything about myself so far]
[Well that's because no one has asked you directly] Chiaki Matsushita.
Has no one asked me directly? That means other girls are curious about me, but no one dares ask me questions. Or is she telling me that no one has asked me directly about me because no one is interested?
Anyway, I don't think he has anyone interesting to say about me. I'm also not a good conversationalist, so I have no idea what traits attract a girl over a boy.
What do you want to know about me anyway? What am I an Otaku or what am I a Gamer? I don't think girls are interested in that. Maybe some of my colleagues are calm and mature people because of how I have behaved with them.
But even I have my childhood moments, where I would be embarrassed if someone saw me acting that way. Unless our bond is quite close and comfortable. Of course.
[I do not understand what you mean. But I'll take it as a good thing]
After a few moments, the doorbell in my room was heard. With a sigh, I got up from my bed as walked to the door to open it.
"Aa. Matsushita, come in and please close the door"
"Thank you Nakatomi-kun"
Matsushita thanked me as she took off her shoes before closing the door.
"Etto ... you can sit on my bed if you like" I gestured to my room.
Matsushita nodded before sitting down and crossing her legs. Shit has beautiful thighs. No, focus on Nakatomi, FOCUS!
"W-do you want a drink, Matsushita? I have Coffee, Tea, and Coca-Cola. "
I emphasized the last word with a tone of amusement in my voice. Matsushita raised her eyebrow but decided not to comment.
"Tea please"
I didn't drink much tea, but I had bought something just in case someone was visiting my room. Not that anyone had done it, the only one who entered my room was Kushida. But hey! You never know who might come.
Once I made the tea I handed it to Matsushita, then I sat on my chair while holding my refreshing drink.
When I opened my can of Coke, it made the typical sound when the can is opened.
"So what did you want to talk to me about? I mean. You've never come to my room to keep me company, so ..."
"First of all. Thanks for the tea, it's pretty good. But I'm just curious if it was you were the one who got the old exams and handed them over to Kushida-san for you to distribute."
"Why do you think it was me?" Ask with both eyebrows raised.
"Well you've gotten closer to Kushida-san, plus you didn't show any reaction when Kushida-san started handing out the old exams. You have a plan, don't you? So that no one gets expelled from school.
"You're overestimating me. I don't have any plans in place. Sure, Kushida and I have gotten closer lately, but that doesn't mean I'm the mastermind, you know?"
"Please don't play dumb. You were the one who told Hirata-kun that we are studying the wrong problems, right? I had commented with the girls that it was strange that you had attended the library that day, but then You didn't go to any of that time. I asked myself why "
"I see. So you figured it out. May I ask how?"
I realized there was probably no point in playing dumb with Matsushita it was clear that she would find out when he turned out to be elusive.
"So you're admitting it was you?" Matsushita asked me with a sly smile.
"Yes. So, will you tell me how? You came to realize that fact."
"Well ... Karuizawa-san commented on a fact that seemed strange to her. When you went to talk to Hirata-kun in the library, I noticed that you handed him a paper. It turns out that the same paper was the subjects you had to study"
Well, that complicates things a bit. I just hope that not many people have realized this fact.
I sighed as I pinched my nose "How many know about this?" I asked for.
"Well, I was just talking to Satō-san and Karuizawa-san. So they are probably the only ones who know or have a suspicion at the moment" Matsushita replied.
That was a relief. I don't want to be discovered for the moment, at least I want to last until after I finish the zodiac test. If I can I would wish for much longer, but I knew that some people would become suspicious. It was inevitable.
"How did you know what the role I gave to Yōsuke was? It could have been anything else that I could have given him."
"Well none of us knew if that was the content of the paper. But it was always a suspicion to be reckoned with. Anyway, you have a plan so that no one fails, right?" Matsushita asked me.
"I already told you. I don't have any plans. It all depends on how much our classmates have studied. Kushida handing out the exams is just insurance so that no one fails."
"Insurance? So you're not trying to get them to get a better score, but to prevent our classmates from failing, right? If you had turned it in earlier then, some of our classmates would lose their motivation."
I already told you that I was not the one who came up with the plan. Sorry Ayanokōji, the Stalker-chan won't believe me no matter what I say. This is giving me Overlord vibes.
"There is still a problem with Sudō" I commented to Matsushita.
"What about Sudō-kun? I thought he was studying in Horikita's study group. The whole class saw them studying, I can tell they have tried hard not to fail" Matsushita gave me a confused look.
"I know Sudō has tried hard enough to pass the subjects, but the problem is in the English subject. It's not that good, let's say ... I mean, I really want to be sure that he can pass it, but I'll still have I have to do something to make sure I don't fail and I need your help. "
"I see. Even if you think Sudō-kun can pass the subject, it would be better not to risk it. But how do you plan to help him?" Matsushita asked me curiously.
"Intentionally lowering my grades. You remember our sensei telling us that the passing grade was 32 on the mock exam, right?" Asked.
"Yes I remember, but what does it have to do ..." Matsushita opened her eyes in surprise when she realized what he was trying to say "You are saying that the passing grade was not something established by the school, but was taken by the grade point average of our class "
"Exactly, the average of the simulated test was 64.4. Dividing in two would be 32.2 points to pass the exam" I replied.
"That means it was higher than 32, but the passing grade was 32, so if we remove the decimal point it would be 32" Matsushita commented while looking at me "So if we lower our grade in our subjects, then we can also lower the average grade. passing for the subjects "
"Exactly. But you're wrong about one thing. They don't remove the decimal point. The school rounds up the average grade. That means that if we get, say, 32.6, then the passing grade would be 33 points," I explained.
"You are quite insightful. But why do you think it is rounded? It might be that it removed the decimal point" Matsushita said.
"That may be in the case, but in math, generally when they ask you to get the results without a decimal place and you get 45.6 as a result. What do you usually do?"
"Round it up to get 46" Matsushira replied quickly, she was getting my point.
"Exactly. Even if the school doesn't round and only removes the decimal point. It would be better for us to use rounding, right? Let's say if, for example, Sudō gets 39 points on the English test and the passing grade is 39.6. So then what do you think would happen? "
"If the school removes the decimal. Then Sudō-kun would barely pass, but if the school rounds the result then ..."
"Sudō would fail. Because the passing grade would not be 39 points, but 40, due to rounding" I finished explaining.
"But it wouldn't be better for our classmates to know this. We can lower the passing grade to make sure no one is expelled" Matsushita commented.
"Negative. Remember that sensei said that we can earn up to 100 points, due to midterms. So if most of our classmates drop the grade intentionally, that means we can earn fewer class points" I replied.
"I think I understand you, but how many do you want to drop intentionally? If you lower your grade too much, you can risk expulsion" Matsushita commented.
"That is true, but the maximum passing grade that can be obtained is 50 points. And for that to happen we would have to get 100 points in all subjects and it would have to be all students. Something impossible for class D. Not even with a miracle of God we could get a perfect grade "I said
"Then let me help you too, it would be better if we could lower, even a little, the average of our class grades. To make sure that no one gets expelled and affects our class" Matsushita offered her help.
I gave her a thumbs up to show that I agreed with her, before taking the last sip of my Coke.
"Damn ... it's over" I muttered depressed.
I put my empty Coke can on the table before looking out the window thinking about the class points we could get. I remember that the class points for June were not shown in the light novel (apart from mentioning that Class D had 0 again) so I am somewhat concerned about what may happen to those 78 class points.
Well, there was no point in worrying right now, besides, I'm getting hungry, because it's getting late. So I'll take the opportunity to eat while I drink another Coca-Cola.
I looked at Matsushita who was deep in thought as she held the empty glass in her hand, slowly shaking the ice inside it and swinging her leg.
"Hey Matsushita, do you want something to eat? I'm a little hungry so I'm going to cook."
"Homemade food prepared by you? Sure I would love to try it" Matsushita smiled at me.
I smiled back at him, before walking to the kitchen. It wasn't a bad day overall, even if Matsushita found out about me. It was kind of nice to have company to talk to on these boring days.
May 29, Friday.
"Good morning, Class D." Chabashira-sensei smiled upon seeing everyone's rigid appearance "Apparently there are no absences. Everyone is here ... This will be their first obstacle to being able to stay in school. Does anyone have any questions?"
"Everyone has tried their best during the last few weeks, Chabashira-sensei. I don't think anyone in our class will fail," Yōsuke commented.
"Eh, you seem to be very confident Hirata" Chabashira-sensei's smile did not change, instead she nodded in response to Yōsuke's response.
All the students also had a confident look. Setting up the exams by banging them against the desk, Chabashira-sensei passed them. The first period is social studies. I think you can call it the easiest test among all the topics.
If someone fails here, then God helps him. Because the other exams were much more difficult than the previous ones.
"This mid-term exam will be the foundation of your academic studies. After taking this, you will have your final exams in July. If no one fails your midterms then the school will reward you with a good vacation during the summer break."
"Holidays?"
"That's right, a dream vacation on an island surrounded by the sparkling blue sea" Chabashira-sensei replied.
Yes...
A "survival" summer vacation really is nice I thought sarcastically.
"What is this pressure ...?" Muttered a voice I didn't recognize. But I was sure it was one of the characters used in the background.
A smile crossed my face. When Chabashira-sensei took a step back from the obvious pressure exuding from the students ... which was mostly coming from the boys.
"Everyone, let's do our best!" Ike howled.
"¡Si!"
I chuckled in amusement as I shook my head, because the class morale increased two or three times, due to it being fueled by Ike's wrong enthusiasm.
Matsushita looked at me with a raised eyebrow as if she was impressed by something. Even Karuizawa gave me a look that I couldn't read. Was it something I did?
Anyway, Social Studies, Chemistry, Japanese, Maths, and English, that was the order of the subjects we will take.
It was a bit strange from my perspective because in my country the subjects did not really change. Or rather, the school I went to did not change them. They were always the core subjects for the curriculum.
But in secondary schools in most Asian countries. They change their curriculum for each semester because that is how they work.
In no time, the exam was handed out to everyone. And with the teacher's signal, they all started at the same time.
I instantly scanned the paper to see if they were the same as above.
Well, the questions are identical to the old test questions. I thought with a small smile.
There was no difference between the questions. If my classmates memorized the answers correctly then everyone could get a perfect grade in all subjects. I looked to the side and saw Matsushita looking on with a smile. We both nodded our heads.
I just hoped that we could score more points for our class.
I glanced around the room to see how my classmates were doing. No one was confused or impatient, that meant everyone had studied properly.
Very well! It was time to answer my test.
Time passed and we finally finished our math test. Students can finally take a break.
Everyone in the class started meeting their respective groups, I could see from the corner of my eye that Kushida, Horikita, Sudō, Ike, Yamauchi, and Ayanokōji were gathering in a group.
The girls who were in Yōsuke's study group had gotten together to talk about how the exam had gone. Azuma, Ishikura, Shinohara, Karuizawa, Matsushita.
In the meantime, I had approached the study group they placed for me when I went to the library that day. Mii-chan, Inogashira, Maezono, Satō, and Okitani. Although they now had Ichihashi Ruri incorporated, due to Kushida being in another group.
"How did everyone do?" I asked them while gesturing to greet them.
"I-I think we went well, Nakatomi-san. The exam questions helped with a lot of questions. So no problem" Inogashira answered me.
"Yes! I thought that mathematics would be the most difficult subject to passing. But I will probably get more than 85 points or more. The study plan you gave us Nakatomi-kun ~ along with your explanations made it very easy for us" Maezono replied with a smile.
"I have to agree. I couldn't memorize all the math questions, but even knowing that. I can be sure I'll pass Math. I also have to thank you Mii-chan if it weren't for your curriculum in the other subjects I would be! in trouble! So thank you! " Okitani thanked both me and Mii-chan.
"It's true! Mii-chan and Nakatomi-kun helped us a lot if he had taught me differently. Maybe I would have had a lower grade" Ichihashi said.
Our eyes turned to Satō so that we could know her answer.
"I-I'm sure I'll pass. I admit I'm not one of the best students academically, but I probably got good marks in all subjects" Satō reassured us.
I gave him a thumbs up while smiling at him. Making Satō look away.
Still, thumb up, I pointed to myself "I'm sure I'll pass all the subjects too. By the way, thanks for teaching me English, Mii-chan, your explanation along with the questions Kushida gave were a godsend"
Then after that, I raised both hands to high five with my group. We all started giving each other a high five. Even the shy Mii-chan and Inogashira made the gesture.
"Now there is only the subject of English, do you feel ready?" I asked them once we had finished our little celebration.
"Yes. Mii-chan has prepared us for this moment. I'm ready!" Okitani exclaimed as he threw a rock into the air dramatically.
The others in our group nodded enthusiastically while smiling. Everyone was absolutely ready to take the English test.
Unfortunately, I would have to intentionally lower my grade to have extra insurance for Sudō. I wasn't sure if he was going to get the same grade as the light novel or if he was going to get a better grade than that.
When the bell rang the exam began. While everyone else was solving their exams, Sudō was having trouble with the exam, occasionally hitting his head, but suddenly making a gesture as if he had remembered something before writing on the note.
I put my gaze on my test slip as I drummed my left-hand fingers on my desk. With my right hand, I held my pencil while turning it with my fingers.
Let's see ... how much should I get?
After the exam is over. I walked over to where Mii-chan and Inogashira were talking. When I was approaching, I greet them and they returned the gesture. Then I gestured for the other people in our group to come closer.
We all gather around.
"Do you want to go to lunch at Keyaki Mall? Do not worry about using your points. I invite" I asked feeling generous.
The whole group looked at me in surprise.
"Really? Gen- Agh!" Okitani was going to celebrate but was interrupted when he received an elbow from Maezono. He making the affected part be grasped.
"Are you sure? I don't want to reject, but we don't want you to spend a lot of points either" Maezono commented.
"Yes, Nakatomi-san I don't think it's necessary. We can also pay so you don't spend too much" Inogashira said.
I sighed "Look, I understand that you are worried about my private points. But you guys have tried hard so you deserve it well enough. Besides, I still had quite a few points left. Since I'm quite thrifty"
"Fine, if you insist," Ichihashi said.
When the whole group had accepted my invitation. The group led by Mii-chan cheerfully celebrated the conclusion of our midterms. All we have to do is rest quietly while we wait for the results.
June 1, Monday.
Finally, the day of the results arrived
Upon entering the classroom, Chabashira-sensei looked around in surprise. Everyone was waiting in suspense for the results of the midterms.
"Sensei. I heard the results will be released today, but when exactly?" Yōsuke posed a question
"There is no need for you to be so excited about it, Hirata. You probably passed."
"When will they be released?"
"Hmm, well. I was supposed to show you the results in the classroom later, but getting to that now, rather than later is not really a bad idea."
Chabashira seems to have a better mood than most of the time.
Chabashira-sensei took out a poster and pasted it on the blackboard. When he looked back at us, Chabashira-sensei had a satisfied smile.
"Honestly, good job. I didn't think this class would do well. There were more than one of you who had a perfect grade across the board."
The students around me started to celebrate for the grades they got, but I knew there could be a student who may have failed, so I looked up quickly.
Sudō's first four ratings were with a total of 65-70 points. Sudō's English grade was 44 points.
"Hell yeah!" Sudō cheered after seeing his scores.
Sudō had the lowest score in English, but his results were much higher than his mock test results. After doing some calculations, the passing grade should be 43 points. Sudō managed to pass the subject by just 1 point.
Therefore, there was no red line on the paper. Matsushita and I looked at each other and sighed in relief. Yōsuke was grinning from ear to ear as he watched our teammates celebrate.
Yōsuke put his gaze on me as he nodded his thanks. I gave it a thumbs up.
"You saw it, didn't you Sensei? When we set our minds to it, we can do it!"
Ike had a triumphant smile.
Yes, I admit it. You did it well. However, Sudō you have barely passed, if you don't want to be expelled in the next exams in June, then you will have to try harder "
Chabashira-sensei wrote a formula on the board.
The class was surprised when Chabashira stepped aside so everyone could see what he wrote.
She wrote [85.8 / 2 = 42.9]
"The last test, and this test too, each class has a set passing grade. And that grade was half the average." Chabashira explained to us.
"What? But I thought the passing grade was 32 points" Sudō said with sweat on his forehead. Although he seemed relieved that he had managed to pass. Sudō was confused.
"When did someone say the passing grade is 32?" Chabashira-sensei replied.
The whole class went from being animated to a silence that was too uncomfortable for my liking. Chabashira killed the happy mood on purpose.
"The passing grade for this exam is 43. Which means you could be expelled with a grade lower than 43. So, Class D. I hope that in the next exams no one is expelled"
No one said anything when they realized how bad the situation could get. If everyone had the mindset to think that the passing grade would always be 32 points, then serious consequences could result for students.
That's why Chabashira-sensei shot down our illusion early.
"Since no one has a question, then-"
Before Chabashira could continue with the other class announcement. Horikita raised her hand. In her unusual life, Horikita had never voluntarily made comments during class.
"That is unusual, Horikita. You are raising your hand. What is your question?"
"I calculated the average of the simulated test at 64.4. Dividing it in two, you get 32.2. In other words, higher than a 32. Despite that, the passing grade was 32 by removing the decimal point. I want to know why the grade of approval is 43 points, instead of 42 points "
"I see. Well, let me tell you one more thing. Unfortunately, there is an error in your formula. Instead of removing the decimal point, we round the tests. The last test rounded to 32, this test rounded to 43."
Horikita didn't say anything, instead, she just clicked her tongue, annoyed that she was wrong.
"Well then, since no one has questions, let's move on to the next topic: Class points for the month of June."
While our class servant turned gloomy. I took out my phone to check my private points.
115,345 PPt.
I have more private points because I made bets with the higher years. It was not that difficult to get points when people are desperate to get points through deception.
I snorted in amusement, My acting as a gambling novice idiot earned me some private points. I did not intend to gamble, but I did so because Sudō was at risk of expulsion.
I couldn't tell if I was going to fail by a point or two, but it turned out that it wasn't necessary. So good for me. Now I have bills on my "Credit Card"
Anyway, back to the topic.
This month we only received 5,500 private points. That meant that instead of gaining class points, we had lost class points. Because of this, the morale of the class plummeted.
For this reason. Me, I was silently looking at the idiots who had made us lose points with disguised fury.
Chabashira placed another piece of paper on the board.
Class Points (Month of June):
Class A: 910 cl (-30)
Class B: 568 cl (-82)
Class C: 410 cl (-40)
Class D: 55 cl (-23)
I sighed in relief. I thought we were the only ones to lose points, but it seems that we are not the only ones who were affected. All the classes lost points so that's a good thing.
After doing mental calculations on the deduction of points in each Class. I realized that in the loss of points obtained, our class was the one that had the least amount of points lost.
Anyway, how did Class B lose so many points? They are the ones with the best sense of unity, so they lose class points for committing infractions for bad behavior in class. I sound a bit absurd to me.
I think I had read about this, but I hardly remember. All I know is that the C-Class had something to do with the loss of points. They mentioned it in one volume, although I don't remember which one.
"Unfortunately, despite all the efforts they put into this exam, it is not enough. They may have improved with their behavior compared to the previous one, but it seems that they are still quite idiots if they thought that doing things secretly was not going to affect them. "
Chabashira-sensei congratulated us on having passed our May exams. She started making fun of us for our faulty thinking.
"The points you could have gotten for the exams went down the drain, due to the loss of points that you had for your behavior. But you should be glad that this time you are lucky. It seems all the classes lost points this month. Being the one. Class B, the most affected "
I looked at Matsushita who had a thoughtful look at what sensei just said. I couldn't stop us from losing points. Although I do not understand why my colleagues did things secretly when they knew that they were monitoring us. But hey, there are always idiots in the world.
At least now I have Kushida and Yōsuke supporting me. So I would talk to them about checking the class so that next month we don't lose any points.
Regardless, the first hurdle has been overcome. Nobody was sent off and we have the fewest points lost, so it was a good result.
Author's Notes:
There are a couple of things I'd like to address regarding the light novel.
First of all, I want to drop the class points. In the light novel, we are told that all students in the school take a quarterly exam at the end of each month.
Chabashira-sensei tells us that, in volume 1. Before the students in class D take their final exams in May. In which he tells us:
- If No one fails in this midterm exam and the finals in July, everyone will have summer vacation.
The class points for June are not actually shown in the novel (apart from explaining to us that Class D had 0 points again. This is known to us in volume two, in Ayanokouji's thoughts.
There are two types of points on the list. One of them is marked with a "cl" at the end, which is short for "class". These are also known as "class points", that is, not points that a student has individually, but points that the class has accumulated as a whole. Class D has had zero class points since June. No points at all. The other points were marked with a "pr" at the end, which stood for "private." These are our individual points.
So I had to create my own class points for June.
Class A: 940. (+94) (-124) → 910. ↓ 30
Class B: 650 (+90) (-172) → 568. ↓ 82
Class C: 450 (+85) (-125) → 410. ↓ 40
Class D: 78 (+86) (-109) → 55. ↓ 23
First, the reason why they won 86 I can do it in two ways. First, with the general average, which is 85.8 rounded, that would be 86 class points. You can also do it with the passing grade, 43 + 43 equal to 86. Why is it added twice? Well, remember that the general average was divided by two and rounded to 43.
I also want to tell you that you can get more than 100 points on the exams. Well, for you to understand you have to read the line that Chabashira-sensei raises us in Volume 2:
-It's too early to celebrate. All other classes saw a similar increase in their points. We don't close the gap at all. This could be just a reward that freshmen receive for passing the semester. Each class has earned at least 100 points
They do not confirm anything about how much is the reward that students can receive after passing the semester. But I want you to know that this line can infer with the class points concerning Julio.
Also do research on Internet-chan: how many semesters are in Japan, and what day they start, and what day they end.
The school year in Japan begins on April 1 and is divided into three periods: from April to July, from September to December, and from January to March.
I'm still not sure how I will interfere with the rewards, but I am telling you so that you get the idea.
now I am going to explain the reason why they lost class points. In case you've been wondering the large amount of decline Ichinose's class had was probably caused by "the problem" that Ryuuen created for his class.
Ichinose mentions it in volume 2 after Sakura was saved and Ryuuen mentions it in volume 11 during the selection exam.
Anyway, I base myself on that the class points of June for class B.
For the other classes, I base it on the fact that: The Sakayanagi class (current volumes) had a reduction in points due to the internal crack that they have for having two class leaders that they had at that time. Ryuuen class despite having his class led as headmaster, several people in his class keep opposing them, and Class D ... well they are idiots.
Second the Class D results for the May test: (you have to delete the space and add the points to see the link)

As you can see, the average is different from the light novel canon, which was 40 points to pass. Let us remember that Nakatomi solved the problem of the subjects that they had to study. So Class D had much more time to study and get a better grade.
You may also notice that the study group Nakatomi was in did much better compared to other study groups. That's because Mii-chan and Nakatomi work together to teach the other members.
Another thing that should be pointed out to me is that as Class D he had more time to study. the three idiots were more prepared for their exams. Therefore Horikita was not forced to lower her scores in English or rather not intentionally lower the points.
Last thing, the names that I add to the story, replacing the unnamed characters are:
Shione Togawa and Kobayashi Satomi. These names that you add are not canon in the light novel.
I also want to tell you to add names to some characters who only confirmed their last name. For example, they only gave us Maezono's last name. But as I add a name it is now called. Maezono Tanaka.
I think that's all I want to clarify. So I thank everyone and every one of you who expressed your praise for the story. I love you all guys.
This marks the end of Volume 1. Thanks for reading everyone.
Look forward to Volume 2 xD.
