"Are we ready?" Hiccup asked.
"Aye," the man Jon said. He tightened another pack on the wild Fury Howler. "Vivian. Ready?"
"How can your Norse still be so bad?" Vivian asked with a groan. She was already on Enigma's back. "Yes, I'm ready. Enigma don't drop me. Or my bag."
The Fury Howler growled eagerly. She had perked up and acted like her old self once she reunited with Iris' parents. Hiccup wanted to ask them so much but kept quiet for now. All that was important was getting Vivian to Iris and saving her.
The woman Olga gave Vivian another bag. This one Vivian didn't seem to want and tried to give it back but Olga wouldn't take it. She backed away with a shake of her head. Vivian glared at her.
"Safe?" Jon asked as he eyed the deep brown Fury Howler with the same patterns on its wings as Jager only in black.
"I think so," Hiccup said nervously. "It submitted to Enigma and didn't fight when I put a makeshift saddle on it. I can't make any promises."
The dragon looked at Jon curiously. There was intelligence in its silver eyes like Enigma and Jager and Toothless. Slowly it nudged Jon's hand with its snout, cooing softly. It seemed to accept him even without the usual approach.
"Get on and let's go," Vivian snapped. "We don't have much time. Hiccup said it's been four days since Iris was poisoned. She only has another three for the treatment to work."
At his wife's words Jon quickly got on the dragon. Enigma gave a roar before taking off. The other dragons followed, Toothless right beside her. Behind him Hiccup heard Jon curse while Vivian gave a whoop of excitement. Seemed like one of Iris' parents wasn't much of a flyer.
Without any hesitation Enigma headed back to the cave they left earlier. It only took two hours for Jon and Vivian to change, pack, and load the dragons while Hiccup made a makeshift saddle for Jon and makeshift harnesses for the gear they were bringing. The other two dragons carried the packs except for the one of Vivian's back. That one was the most important.
Both Jon and Vivian screamed as the dragons took a sudden descent in the pitch black cave. Jon screamed again when they rose up. He didn't look so good as they shot out of the cave on the other side, the side Hiccup was more familiar with.
Dagur owes me an explanation, Hiccup thought. No wonder he disappeared without a trace. He was in a completely different world!
A roar from Enigma shook him from his thoughts. He looked over at Vivian, who stared around her in awe, and looked over at Jon on his other side. The older man looked green. The dragon he was riding cooed anxiously.
This was going to be an adventure. The thought made Hiccup laugh. Like he didn't have enough going on. At least they would be Dagur's problem.
