I don't own Gotham.

Chapter 1

Ragnhild Gordon sat down and eating some sandwiches.

"SLURPS!" She drinks her cranberry juice from her straws.

Ragnhild observes everything in the city.

Ever since she moved here, Gotham is not exactly a good place to live. It's like life was sucked out of people living in this city.

She sees light in people and so far, never met anyone that has darkness yet.

Her uncle wouldn't like it that if she stays too long outside from her trip to Library hours. Which reminds her as she looked down on her mickey mouse wristwatch.

It's nearly almost time to go home.

'I am already later than usual.'

The sun is getting lower and no doubt will be more in trouble if her uncle finds out.

Ragnhild decided to take the shortcuts which are breaking her uncle's number three rule on not to do.

She jogs up a bit and looked like she was getting lost in the back alley. That is until she heard something in the boxes by the big trash dumpsters.

"Bark. Whimpers."

Ragnhild walked slowly towards the big box and opened it.

It is a bloodhound puppy.

Sadly, it is wounded by the slash on the forehead.

She gasped and said, "Oh poor puppy." She took off her jacket to wrapped its whole body like a baby.

The puppy struggled within her grasp, but she gently shushes and let him calm down. She gently petted him and trying not to touch his forehead.

Ragnhild noticed that it is slashed, but not deep enough to kill the puppy.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of you."

Ragnhild quickly stood up and looked around to see a way out.

She looked up at the clouds and it started to rain slowly. Quickly as she made sure that she always carries an umbrella.

PROMPT! SWISH.

Ragnhild has taken the wrong turn when she heard something that would change her life.

There was a woman there.

Surrounded herself with three men and one is on the ground.

Mooney is in the middle of beating a man who had been stealing from her.

Ragnhild has hidden as she heard the woman speak.

"I still care for you deeply, but I don't believe you care for me anymore." Fish Mooney said.

To Ragnhild that is no loving tone.

An agonized cry from a whack made her flinch and secretly praying to God someone to come.

Fish Mooney repeated her question which he stuttered, "I did…!

He bumbles a lot of words that sounded out as an excuse for Fish.

"Boy!" Ragnhild took a peeked and saw the umbrella person that went to her side. "If you let this hair goes frizzy, you will be."

She watches as one of the valet men came out and whispers something into the boss lady's ear.

"Keep him warm."

She took a glance at her puppy that seems to snooze away his dreamless sleep. She looks back at the men being left behind.

BAM!

She flinches as she felt that guy's pain.

What seems like forever.

"Hey!"

James Gordon seemed to stop them.

'Oh crap!'

That was her first thought.

She nearly groaned and whine that if James is here then he would know that she is in big trouble.

When everything seems quiet.

Ragnhild closes her eyes and waited silently. She baited her breath and slowly opened her eyes as she sticks her head out of her hiding spot.

That was when everyone was gone. Clear out of sight.

"Phew." She let it out.

That was a close call.

She quickly ran out of that alley and into the front.

Her puppy is still a heavy sleeper, but breathy still.

Ragnhild believes that she is out in the clear.

HONK!

That was when she realized that the universe likes to prove her wrong.

"Ragnny!"

She cringed and slowly looked at the car driving up slowly at her side.

The windows rolled down for her to see.

James Gordon gave the unamused looked while his partner Harvey Bullock gave a confused look.

"Jim, I am pretty sure that she is not legal age yet."

What the hell is he talking about? That disgusted look came at both faces.

Ragnhild gulped and gave a sheepish smile, "Hi, Uncle James."

"In the car."

"Yes sir."

Ragnhild opened the door and seat herself in the back.

"What is that in your jacket?" Those were the first words that came to Gordon.

"A puppy."

They were both not sure where he was going for.

"A puppy?"

"I found him. His name is Huckleberry Finn." She figured that his name should be unique.

That got a smile from her uncle.

"Really? That's actually a better name than I was going to go for."

Her uncle added, "You know that I don't like that you are going out this late."

"I know, but I was trying to take a shortcut."

"No shortcuts. Trust me, you will be killed just like…"

"Just like the Wayne's." She cut him off, but everyone is silent.

It was no secret that the Wayne family got mugged and killed Thomas and Martha Wayne while their son Bruce Wayne had survived and witnessed it all.

"Look, I am not going to involve in this, but I will promise you both that we will get this guy," Bullock answered them, but he was awkward about it.

Ragnhild smiled a bit.

"Let's stop at the animal hospital. Huckleberry Finn needs treatment." She suggested it.

"Sure, kid." Bullock nodded his head.

Jim gave him a smug look at his partner.

"Shut up." He mumbled at the boy's scout.

They drive up to find the nearest animal hospitals.

Ragnhild wanted to tell her uncle that the umbrella boy had darkness in him, but she was not sure if she should.

For now, she will have to wait.

The very next day, her uncle and Bullock caught the Wayne killer.

Ragnhild looked at her uncle in puzzlement.

"Uncle, what's wrong? You caught the bad guy."

Jim wanted to say it was nothing, but he can trust her with his secret.

"I think we got the wrong guy."

Ragnhild looked scared but made her urge her uncle to his statement.

"It was too easy. No, I believe it was someone else."

Jim then explained his theory.

"Mario Pepper is simply framed and wasn't the Waynes' murderer."

Those were his words.

Ragnhild had a bad feeling about this. And she wasn't going to like it when Jim became the Mob's target.

Gotham is never going to be the same again.

For it became a place where the city had woken up for the first time in years.
