"Congratulations lass," Stoick said warmly. "She is a beautiful babe."

"Thank you Stoick," Iris said just as warm. Yarrow was bundled up to keep the chill at bay that finally settled on the island. "And thank you for coming. It means a lot."

"Of course," Stoick chuckled. "Berk's oldest ally just had their next chieftain named. I wouldn't miss it for anything."

"She's going to be just like her mother," Dagur said proudly.

They had just finished Yarrow's naming ceremony and everyone was eager to see her. However everyone knew the chiefs would have first dibs to see her. It was only the respectable thing to do and they were a respectable tribe now. To a degree.

"Look at that hair," Stjern cooed. "Fiske why couldn't you give me a red head?"

"I'm sorry there are no red heads in my family," drawled Fiske. "I am jealous though. Her hair is so soft!"

"And fluffy," Stjern awed. "Iris I want to take her home. Give her to me."

"Absolutely not! I will fight you and I will win. Jager is on my side."

The purple dragon cooed, hovering over Iris. Enigma was guarding her egg so the male Fury Howler was extra cautious in his guarding Yarrow duties. Even Dagur had a hard time dragging him away whenever Iris came outside with the baby. Right now, he stayed behind her chair with his wings slightly opened as if he worried the Great Hall would collapse.

"She's so little," breathed Astrid. It was finally the Riders' turn. "How can you hold her?"

"Easy," Heather bragged, "Come on. Iris, can Astrid hold her?"

"If she drops her I will scalp her," Iris warned as she handed Heather her niece. "You two, hands where I can see them."

"So rude," Tuffnut whined.

"Yeah don't you trust us?" asked Ruffnut.

"Absolutely not." The twins looked at each other.

"Fair point," they said in unison.

Astrid looked nervous as Heather showed her how to hold Yarrow. Once she got comfortable though she just stared at her in awe. Chances were this was the first time Astrid held someone so small. Fishlegs fidgeted eagerly as he waited for his turn.

"Congratulations Iris," Hiccup said as Astrid reluctantly gave Yarrow back to Heather so Fishlegs could hold her. "Berserk will be in good hands."

"Hopefully she won't be as wild as Dagur," chuckled Iris. "Oh don't give me that look honey. You said so yourself."

"Its different when you say it," he whined.

"If she's anything like Dagur when he was younger make him deal with her," Snotlout drawled. "Ep, don't hurt me!"

"No threatening guests! Even if they deserve it." She eyed the twins as they argued over who would hold Yarrow first. Somehow Ruffnut won and cuddled the baby close while cooing. "Wow. She's a natural."

"That's the twins for ya," commented Hiccup. "You never know how they'll surprise you."

Tuffnut scooped Yarrow out of his sister's arms. While Ruffnut scowled at him he wiggled his finger at Yarrow. An excited giggle came from the baby girl as she tried to grab his finger.

"Let me show you how a pro does it," Snotlout drawled as he took Yarrow from Tuffnut. Yarrow started to squirm and grunt. "Uh. This isn't supposed to happen." Yarrow gave a yowling cry, waving her little fisted hands around. "Help!"

Hiccup quickly went to Snotlout and grabbed the angry baby. The moment he held her close she calmed down. A happy gurgle came from her before she shoved her fist in her mouth. A sign she was getting hungry. Iris let Hiccup hold Yarrow for a bit though. It was a pleasant sight, seeing the boy holding a small baby who snuggled in close. He was safe in Yarrow's eyes.

However she started to squirm and root against Hiccup's shoulder. Dagur snickered as he took Yarrow from Hiccup, who now had a splotch of drool on his shoulder. Once Yarrow was in her arms Jager folded his wings around Iris to make a privacy screen of a sort. No one could see her and she didn't have to leave to feed Yarrow. Plus no one could get near them while Jager guarded them like this.

She listened to the conversations outside. Stoick and Fiske spoke about starting trade between Murking and Berk while Travis greeted everyone. Another voice gruffly spoke which Dagur answered stiffly. Whoever that was it was clear Dagur was not that comfortable around them.

Once Yarrow finished Iris settled her clothes and patted Jager's wing. The dragon whimpered but pulled his wings back to bring them back into view. A new person had joined the other chiefs and chieftess. His hair was black and wild to the point one couldn't see where his hair ended and his beard started. His armor was typical for most Vikings but well worn. He and Dagur looked at each other stiffly.

"Hello," Iris said from her seat. Her voice startled the other man. "I have not had the chance to catch your name."

"Alvin," he said gruffly. "Of Outcast Island."

"Ah so I finally have the chance to meet you," she said smoothly. "Thank you for coming."

"Chief Stoick insisted," he grumbled.

"Would you like to hold her?"

Everyone stared at Iris in shock or horror except for Stoick. He just nodded approvingly while Alvin looked nervous. She got up, cradling Yarrow close, and approached the chief. Before Dagur could hurry over Stoick put his hand on his shoulder and began asking him questions about random things.

"She doesn't bite," Iris said gently. "I think she would have bit Snotlout if that was the case."

That made Alvin chuckle slightly as Snotlout protested. He still looked nervous as she held Yarrow out to him. However he took her, holding the baby carefully. In his hands she looked so small.

For a few minutes he just stared at her in awe while Iris watched him. He was a dangerous man, that much she knew from both the story and hearing about his time with Dagur. However he was still a chief, someone who should care for his people. Someone who had the potential to be an ally.

Yarrow looked at the large man, her eyes wide. There was something about an innocent baby looking at a person who had spent years doing not so savory things without any judgement. She gave him a gummy smile, gurgling excitedly. Everyone seemed to calm down at her reaction.

"I'm going to be selfish and take her back," Iris said. Alvin looked a little disappointed but quickly coughed and hide the expression as she took Yarrow back. "Travis, glad you finally made it."

"I had to escape the demanding customers," he chuckled as he approached. "Even the Murking tribe was waiting for us at the docks and I had to help my people. I am sorry for missing the ceremony."

"I'll forgive you this time," joked Iris. Travis easily took Yarrow from her and held the baby with practiced ease. "Not the first time?"

"One thing about the Icer tribe," he began. "Everyone helps take care of the children. I usually end up on baby watching duty. So I'm used to these cute little milk drinking poop making cuties. Oh yes I am. Yes I am."

She couldn't help but laugh as Travis started talking to Yarrow in baby talk. Of course the baby just giggled and gurgled, waving her hands around. He let her grab his finger and wiggled it around in rhythm with his voice.

"You almost killed me," murmured Dagur. "How could you let Alvin the Treacherous hold Yarrow?"

"Because it is the polite thing to do," she said quietly. "He is a chief who came to give his blessing. If I didn't let him hold her it would be no better than telling him he's not welcome."

"He's not!"

"Oh shush. Yarrow is fine and I was right there. If he tried anything I would have gouged out his eyes and made him eat them. After I gave Yarrow to you of course."

"I love it when you talk like that."

"I should take you with me," Travis said. "We'll teach you how to make anything and everything in the Icer Tribe. You won't ever have to fight unless you want to."

"And that's my cue to take her back," Iris said. "Gimme. Gimme now."

"Spoilsport," Travis grumbled as he handed Yarrow back.

"Always."

"I wanna hold her again," Ruffnut said eagerly.

"Not right now. Now the Berserkers get to meet her."

Iris turned to face the crowd of Berserkers waiting anxiously. They had been waiting this entire time while the chiefs and Riders met Yarrow for their chance to see her. She handed the babe to Dagur who lifted her up for everyone to see. Cheers started as Yarrow just blinked in her cute baby way.

"I'm right behind you," he said quietly as he handed Yarrow back to Iris before they stepped off the dias.

"Good cause if anyone gets too excited you'll have to smack them," she said just as quiet.

The crowd shifted so they could walk through. It was slow going as everyone wanted a chance to see their future chief. Everyone congratulated them, some were even crying. However it was unanimous that everyone was happy to meet little Yarrow. Even the children were excited.

"She is beautiful," Ellie said quietly.

"You'll have to come see her later," Iris whispered as she hugged the widow. "And get a chance to hold her."

"I can't wait."

Even Arlx and his men were happy to see Yarrow. Arlx claimed she would be an excellent chief someday. Dagur smiled proudly at the other man's words while Iris just nodded. It was nice he and his fellows settled in and shed their more sexist views towards women. It didn't hurt they all had to work alongside women who proved they weren't some delicate creatures that needed to stay in the house.

The festivities just began when Yarrow began to fuss. She whimpered and wailed, pushing her face into Iris' shoulder. It wasn't her usual hungry cues but her ready for sleep demand. Iris held her close, cooing softly as she patted her back to calm her down. She gave a whimper but snuggled close as Iris wrapped her against her torso with a wide piece of fabric.

"Will she be okay?" Astrid asked as Yarrow continued to softly whimper.

"She's just tired," Iris explained. "All the excitement and meeting new people takes a lot out of babies especially this young. She's only been around for two weeks. That's not a lot of time to get used to all the new things outside of mom's body. She'll fall asleep in no time."

Astrid didn't look convinced but once Yarrow settled down the babe stopped fussing. Iris gave her an I-told-you-so grin that the other young woman just rolled her eyes at. Everyone was celebrating, this time more calm and relaxed. They enjoyed the food and conversation while cheering about the newest addition to the tribe. Who was currently sleeping soundly even with the noises happening around her.
