Beacon Academy, Beacon Tower | August 25th, 20XX | 8:30 PM| (3rd Person POV)
The prestigious school of Beacon Academy, one of, if not THE best school to pursue your career as a Hunstman or a Huntress. Though as the best school there is, they only accept the toughest, the smartest, and the best. Therefore, it is also one of the hardest academies to be accepted in. Though only some are accepted into the academy, and those who are accepted can expect highly intense training session, almost near-impossible tests and exams, and hard-to-stay awake classes. Through there are some who had the pride and will to make it through all of it, there are some that have become legends in their own regard.
One of those legends, was a middle aged man with a white complexion, tousled silver hair, thin brown eyes with shaded glass spectacles, and other sharp facial features. His outfit consisted of an un-zipped black suit over a dark green button vest and a lighter green shirt. Wrapped around his neck. was a green cowl with a cross-shaped pin. He also wears black trouser shoes and dark green pants. This man is known as Professor Ozpin, the Headmaster of Beacon Academy.
Currently, the Headmaster of Beacon was continuing his daily routine of overlooking the school and making sure everything was in order. One of those duties, was picking out the first years who applied to this prestigious school for the upcoming semester.
'Hmm…there are quite a few applicants this time around. It's going to be difficult to pick out which one is going to be accepted. All of them have amazing scores…' Ozpin thought to himself
Ozpin scrolled through the various transcripts on his hard-light computer, but just as he was about to take a sip from his cocoa, he suddenly felt a surge of energy rush through him. Not expecting the sudden feeling, the Headmaster of Beacon shot up from where he was sitting. What was that!? There shouldn't be anyone who should be to generate that much energy. Unless…' Ozpin thought to himself
The Headmaster of Beacon closed his eyes, and began to focus. Soon after, a dark green aura surrounded him, as he used his power to sweep the area of Beacon for any signs of anyone, including possible hostiles. But after several minutes, he was unable to find any signs of life. This energy, this power was something the Headmaster had felt long ago. But the real question was, how did it get here? And who was the one who brought it here?
Then Headmaster took in a deep breath, sat back down on his chair, and logged into Beacon's security system. Accessing the many camera's that were spread throughout the campus and its surroundings areas. 'Let's see if we can find our mysterious strangers.' Ozpin thought to himself
Ozpin began to look through all of the cameras throughout the campus, from the cafeteria to the auditorium. From the north section of the campus, to the south section of the campus. And from the classrooms to the courtyard. The Headmaster went through every camera, looking for something, anything out of the ordinary until he stopped at the camera that showed the fields that was just near the Emerald Forest.
There, he saw a boy, probably no older than sixteen years of age, laying unconscious in the middle of the forest with what appeared to be a gauntlet on his arm. Curious, the Headmaster rewinded the footage, only to see that there was nothing. It's almost as if he just appeared in an instant.
'It's almost as if he just appeared out of nowhere…' Ozpin thought to himself
The headmaster looked past the initial security footage of the camera that was just in the middle of the Emerald Forest. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, until a ball of blue light soon blinded the camera's field of view. As the light faded, the boy was there with the gauntlet in his possession. Multiple questions flowed throughout the headmaster's head. Was it one of the weapon's powers? If so, then why does a boy wield such power at his disposal. Ozpin continued to watch the screen to see that the boy had woken up.
They boy seemed to be…distressed and it's those kind of emotions that attract humanities greatest threat, the Grimm. The headmaster did not know how or why there was a boy alone in the Emerald Forest. What he did know was that he needed to see this for himself. However, he doubt that his assistant would be too happy if he just left his office unannounced when there are papers that need to be looked at and filled out.
Ozpin pulled out his scroll from his pocket, dialled a ten-digit number on screen and placed it next to his ear.
"Hello? Oh, Professor Ozpin, I didn't expect to get a call from you this late. Have you decided which students will be attending our school?" A female voice said on the other-side of the scroll.
"No, I'm still picking out the first-year students. I call you because I wanted you to watch over my office while I'm gone." Ozpin explained
"If I may ask, why do you need me to watch over your office?" She asked
"I need to check on something." Ozpin said in a serious tone
The woman on the other end noticed the change of tone in his voice and agreed "Alright, I'll watch over your office, but as soon as you come back, I want you to finish picking out the first years. The first day of school is less than a week, so we need to be prepared."
"Thank you, Glynda, I'll try to be as quick as possible with this. I will pick out the rest of the first years when I'm done." Ozpin said, as he ended the call and placed his scroll back into his pocket. Ozpin picked up his signature cane, The Long Memory and made his way towards the elevator.
"Whatever that energy may be, only time will tell if it will lead to a miracle or a catastrophe." Ozpin said to himself as the elevator's doors closed
Beacon Academy, Beacon Arena | August 25th, 20XX | 8:30 PM| (3rd Person POV)
One of the many classes of this prestigious academy, was combat. Where students are pitted against other students, or can fight a many opponents they wanted. But during after hours, was self directed sparring, where students are freely able to use the arena to rather settle old grudges. Or to find ways to grow stronger and improve their techniques. This area of expertise, was managed by one of the many teachers of Beacon.
That person was a middle-aged woman that has light-blonde hair that was tied back in a bun with a curl hanging down on the right side of her face. Her eyes are a bright green colour and wears then oval-shaped glasses. She wore a pair of teal earring that matched the hanging pendent on her collar. Her clothing consisted of a white long-sleeved, pleated top that has a wide "keyhole" neckline and gauntlet cuffs. Her lower body is covered by a black high-waisted pencil skirt with bronze buttons which fade into brown stockings. She wears black boots with bronze heels and a cape that is purple inside and black on the outside. The cut of the cape is stylized to end in flames and arrows, with a row of diamond-shaped bronze beads on the back. Above this line of beads appears an emblem of a tiara. This was Glynda Goodwitch, the combat instructor of Beacon Academy and second-hand woman to Ozpin.
Currently, Glynda was doing her daily duties at Beacon, getting her classroom ready for the upcoming semester. However, she had received a call from Ozpin, asking if she could possibly watch over his office until he returned. Nut she was trying to contemplate possible reasons why Ozpin had to temporarily leave his duties. What she did know on the other-hand, was that is was something serious.
'What in the world could have grabbed Ozpin's attention?' Glynda asked herself as she closed her scroll back up 'Hmm…perhaps I can see if I can sense what the headmaster was sensing' She thought to herself, closing her eyes and focusing her aura until she was glowing a purple colour.
She was using a special aura-based technique known as "Aura Sense", which allows ones Aura to sense other Auras. It can also be used to identify specific Aura's, which is extremely useful for bounty missions, search and rescues, or in this case, to identify any known forms of life around the area. After several moments, Glynda eventually detected two auras in the Emerald Forest she didn't recognize. The first aura she detected was that of an average person can obtain in their life. However, the other one is what got her attention the most. It seemed that stronger aura could rival that of Ozpin himself…no…it was much, much stronger.
Glynda's eyes shot open and felt incredibly nauseous, clearly in shock of the other aura. 'What in the world!? Who's aura could that be!? I've never sensed such a high level of aura, not even from Ozpin! What in god's name is going on!?'
Just like Ozpin beforehand, multiple questions raced through the witch's mind. Where did this higher power come from? Who or what was the second aura she sensed? And more importantly, how did it get pas their security? Ever since the current Fall Maiden was attacked and had half of her power stolen, she was kept in isolation under the school and was under constant protection and watch.
'Could it be one of the enemies that Ozpin was talking about? Have they come for the rest of her power and the relic?' Glynda asked herself. To calm herself down, she took in a deep breath, held it in, then exhaled. '…Well, if Ozpin is taking care of it, I suppose that he will determine whether or not if they are a threat to the school and its students'
But in the outcome if they were a threat, Glynda kept her guard up. If something that powerful just appeared like that, she doesn't doubt that it won't cause any trouble for the unseen future.
'I should get going. Ozpin has requested that I watch over his office and I shall.' Glynda thought to herself as she started to walk out of the arena and towards Beacon Tower. 'I should also clean it while I'm there. Ozpin was never good at organizing things…'
Beacon Academy, Grimm Studies Lecture Hall | August 25th, 20XX | 8:30 PM| (3rd Person POV)
Amongst Beacon's campus, were the lecture halls where the many students sit down and learn about the many subject they may or may not need once they graduate. The rooms in questions had enough sufficient space for practical demonstrations in-front of the student's desks. But in this particular classroom, there was a chalkboard with various antique drawings of the Grimm behind the teacher's desks. Amongst the rims of the front room, were man-made Grimm heads ranging from an Ursa to a Beowolf.
This specific classroom, was known as Grimm Studies, where you'll sit and learn everything you need to know about the very creatures that threaten both mankind and Faunuskind to this very day. That is, if you don't fall asleep while listening to the many stories of a particular teacher.
"Once I slew the beast I brought back its head on a platter as a trophy and was celebrated as a hero by the town!…No, that's not right. It's impossible to put an actual Grimm's head on a platter…" The teacher in question said to himself as he walked around the room.
The teacher in question was a man in early old age. He had a tan complexion and had grey hair with a matching moustache. His clothing consisted of a double-breasted burgundy suit with gold piping and buttons. He wore black pants that were constantly tucked into olive-covered boots. he had a slight overweight build to him…not that he really minded it that is. This man was Peter Port, a Huntsman and a teacher of Beacon Academy, dedicating to teaching his students about the very monsters that threaten their world.
"Hmm…how can I use the stories from my youth to educate young minds on the secrets of the Grimm?" Port asked himself, tapping his chin in deep thought "…I know! I came back with the beast caged, its snarl echoing throughout the town. It attempted to break out of its cage, thought it was useless, our hero had the beast trapped! That should work. I cage Grimm all the time for my lessons. If the children wish to learn about the Grimm then what better way than to have first hand experience? Ha ha! The thrill of a good hunt!"
"Now, where was I? As yeas! I came back with the best captured, I was praised as a hero and a legend by the townsfolk. As a form of thanks and celebration, they all held a feast in my n-!" The Huntsman began, only to feel a surge of energy to run down his spine, making him leap off of the ground and reach for his weapon: Blowhard, a blunderbuss hat was outfitted with a battle-axe.
"W-What in blazes was that!?" Port asked himself, looking around the lecture hall in an attempt to find the source
But it was no use, no matter how hard or how long he searched, he wasn't able to find the source of the sudden "pulse". It had disappeared as quickly as it appeared.
After detecting no trace of this sudden pulse, Port cleared his throat 'Well, someone really knows how to rile this huntsman up!'
Suddenly, the Grimm he had been keeping in his cage on the other-side of the lecture-room started to go completely crazy, desperately trying to break free from its prison. The cage was jumping up and down, shaking back and forth. Whatever kind of Grimm was in there, was trying to get out.
"Ah, pipe down." Port dismissed
But what the Huntsman wasn't expecting was for the Grimm he was keeping captive to suddenly slam the cage door open, breaking the lock. The Grimm that he was keeping captive, was a Beowolf, one of the most common species of Grimm to find across the globe. But hat was different about this particular Beowolf, was that the red markings the lined its body was glowing even darker, almost to a blood-shot colour.
"W-What!?" Port yelled, not expecting the Beowolf to escape.
The Grimm charged at the veteran Huntsman with the intent to kill, though as it swung its massive claws at peter, he was easily able to dodge the attack by rolling under it. Peter bolted for his weapon, causing the Beowolf to lunge at the man. But before it could sink its teeth into him, Port fired his weapon and blew the Beowolf's head clean off.
"Hah, hah! Well, this is already proving to be an eventful evening. Perhaps I could use this experience in one of my lessons." Peter said as he looked around his lecture room to see that it was completely trashed.
Despite the fight being short and simple, the Beowolf was able to cause damage to the school's property. Some of the desks were rather destroyed or split in half and a majority of papers were scattered across the room
A comical sweat dipped from Port's forehead "Though…I can't say that I'm looking forward to explaining this to Ozpin…"
*SLAM* Suddenly, the doors to Port's lecture room slammed open, causing the veteran Huntsman to jump in surprise, still startled about what had just occurred. But quickly calmed down at the sight of someone he knew. In the blink of an eyes, a man ran into the room at an alarming fast pace, appearing as nothing more than a blur to the naked eye.
The man appeared to be rather young compared to the other teachers of the academy, with messy green hair and brown eyes. His clothing is disheveled: his white shirt that was partially tucked into his dark-green pains and its collar raised, showing a slack yellow ties, along with mismatched brown and black shoes. He also had round glasses that appear to be opaque. This man was no other than Peter's trusted comrade and friend, Doctor Batholomew Oobleck, who teaches his students about Remnant's History.
"Port! Port! Are you alright!?" Oobleck asked
"Ah, yes, I'm fine. Nothing that I couldn't handle." Port reassured
"What in the name of the gods just happened!?" Oobleck asked
"Well, I was just rehearsing some of my stories that I would tell the newest set of Huntsman and Huntresses we would get this year, when suddenly I felt this strange feeling don my spine. Though just as it appeared-!." Port tried to finish
Oobleck cut him off, knowing what his comrade was implying "It vanished as soon as it came."
"So, you felt it as well?" Port asked
"Indeed, though if the Grimm were affected by the sudden surge at this distance, then we might want to inform Ozpin at once!" Oobleck said
"But, where was that pulse coming from?" Port asked
Oobleck's response was to pull out his scroll and opened a map of the Emerald Forest "I've managed to pin-point an exact location! According to the increase activity of the Grimm, the origin of the pulse is in the Emerald Forest!"
"The Grimm were still affected even from this far!?" Port asked out of shock
"Yes, and there will no doubt be more! We must inform Professor Ozpin at once!" Oobleck said, as he and Professor Port ran out of the lecture hall.
Beacon Academy, Emerald Forest | August 25th, 20XX | 8:40 PM | (3rd Person POV)
Just located to the south of the academy, was lush green area called the Emerald Forest. Ranging from trees of all shapes to sizes to the remains of ancient kingdoms that to this day, their origins are unknown. But due its more dense habitat, the Emerald Forest is the home to many species of Grimm as small as a Boarbatusk, to something as large as a King Taijitu. Because of this, the Emerald Forest is used as an "initiation test" for the first years where students are launched into the forest to fight off an Grimm they come across to recover a special relic placed at one of the many ruins in the forest. But the initiation, isn't for another few days, yet there is a Bullhead touching down in the middle of the Emerald Forest.
Shortly after Professor Ozpin ended his call with Glynda Goodwitch, he called and booked one of the remaining Bullheads that were still on campus. And after five minutes, the Bullhead descended near the outskirts of the Emerald Forest and was told to head back to Beacon and to await further instructions. With his signature cane in hand, the Headmaster of Beacon slayed away any Grimm he came across with ease. Any capable Huntsman is capable of dealing with Grimm on their own, but Ozpin was on another level that some may never achieve.
'To think that another one would show up at my front door yet again. It seems that history has its own unique way of repeating itself.' Ozpin thought to himse, as he continued his trek through the Emerald Forest
Eventually, Ozpin had come across an area with a nearby pond, the same area where he had found the boy on the monitor. However, he boy was nowhere to be found and even though it had only been ten minutes, he couldn't have made it that far. The Headmaster could only hope that the Grimm didn't fid him or even worse, have already ended him.
"I SAID…GET OOOOFFFF!" A voice shouted
Ozpin immediately turned his head towards the source of the yell, only for a crimson light to appear in the direction he was looking. The Headmaster quickly shielded his eyes from the sudden light, until it quickly diminished as it came. Ozpin ran as fast as he could, jumping over various roots in the uneven terrain towards the source of the light. There he saw the boy, with the side of his abdomen nearly torn open and his stomach area was nearly gauged out. If he didn't get help immediately, the boy would surely die.
Ozpin rushed towards the boy, got on one knee, and placed his hand on the boy's body as he tried to use his aura to heal the boy; but nothing happened. But to the Headmaster's surprise, the boy doesn't have an aura…no, more like he didn't have his unlocked. Ozpin could unlock the boy's aura on his own, but the boy was loosing too much blood that he would be dead by then. As Ozpin tried to process his options, a feint red glow from the boy's gauntlet caught his attention.
The red-ish glow formed some sort of small aura that traveled up the boy's right arm, past his shoulder, down his chest and all the way down to he boy's abdomen area. The "aura" that the gauntlet was generating was slowly closing up the boy's wounds, not even scars remained; it was almost as if they were never there.
'Is that one of its powers? I hope that the young man knows how it works.' Ozpin thought to himself 'That would save us the trouble of having to figure it out down the road.'
First, he put his fingers up against the boy's neck to see if he was still alive. Usually, loosing that much blood would be fatal for an mortal man. After several seconds, Ozpin felt a pulse from his neck, causing him to sigh in relief. The boy was alive, but severely weak.
'Good, the boy is alive. Now, let's see if he's in the mood to answer some questions of mine.' Ozpin thought ot himself, as he placeda hand on the boy's shoulder and lightly shook him. He lightly shook the boy for a good minute or two, but he was having no luck whatever ever; not even a mumble or a groan out of him. Ozpin frowned as he was now very curious, more questions popped in his head, but none of them could be answered at the moment. What he did know on the other-hand was that the boy needs to be in the infirmary as soon as possible.
Ozpin pulled out and unlocked his scroll, and decided to call Beacon's doctor and Dust and Plant Specialist, Professor Peach. It rang for a few seconds until someone on the other end picked up "Hello? Oh, Professor Ozpin, I wasn't expecting a call from you, is there something you need?" She asked on the other end of the scroll in a cheerful tone.
"Yes, I need you to board a Bullhead in the courtyard and to come to the Emerald Forest immediately." Ozpin said, getting straight to the point
"Why? What's wrong? Wait, why are you even out there in the first place? Are you feeling alright? I told you that you shouldn't be drinking that much cocoa. I already have Oobleck to deal with his coffee, I don't need you acting like that." Peach deadpanned on the other end of the scroll
"It's not me, I found a boy out here in the Emerald Forest. I've done all that I can to heal the boy, but he needs more dire medical attention." Ozpin partially lied "…And for the record, I do not need to cut down on the amount of cocoa I drink, I'm doing just fine."
"Oh! Okay, I'll be right there right away, just stay with the boy and let me know if there's anything different with his behaviour." Peach said through the scroll as she cut the connection off, ending the call
The Headmaster of Beacon put his scroll back into his pocket and begun to inspect the boy on a closer perspective. The boy had blonde hair, a short-sleeved black and blue checkered shirt with a long sleeved grey undershirt. He also wore a pair of dark blue jeans, and semi-white sneakers with black laces. Upon first glance, there was nothing out of the ordinary, he just looked like a normal boy. But if he really was the one who produced that massive power…how did he do it?
Ozpin's eyes trailed towards the weapon on the boy's right arm. The weapon in question was a blue metal gauntlet that covered a good majority of the users arms, but left his fingers exposed. It had a red-ish jewel that glistened traces of light and two golden spikes. In-front of the jewel, laid a small blade that looks like it can push out.
"That must be the source…" Ozpin said as he touched the gauntlet. He closed his eyes, forming his aura around his body as the wind all around him started to pick up. Though as soon as he activated his aura, the base of the weapon started to get extremely hot, with steam visibly starting to emit from the weapon itself. But strange enough, it wasn't harming the boy. 'Seems it doesn't want to be disturbed, not that I blamed it. It must've made a massive leap if it had to use so much energy'
Just as before, Ozpin began to ask more questions than getting answers. How was the boy no older than sixteen able to possess one of them to begin with? The boy doesn't have his aura unlocked…so how? But before the Headmaster could ask himself more questions, the gauntlet's jewel glistened with light once more, but this time, it covered the entire gauntlet. Then almost in an instant, the gauntlet vanished in the boy's arm.
*VRRROOOOOOOM* But before he could question what had occured, the sound of a loud engine cut his train of thought. Professor Ozpin turned around to see a Bullhead flying over the trees of the Emerald Forest. Eventually, the Bullhead landed in a small nearby clearing as its doors opened. Hopping out of the Bullhead, was Professor Peach with a med-kit in her hand and dragging a stretcher across the ground.
I came as fast as I could, so where is the boy you spoke of?" Peach asked, with a worried expression on her face
"He's right here." Ozpin gestured to the unconscious boy behind him "He hasn't shown any sign of changes in his behaviour and shows no signs of waking up anytime soon."
Peach approached the unconscious boy and kneeled right in-front of him. She began to inspect his for any signs or symptoms of any sickness, disease, or any form of injury to the internal organs. But as Peach inspected the boy even further, she noticed that the boy, was unnaturally underweight to the point where she could see the outline of his ribcage. "Other than being severely malnourished, he seems fine. If you want, I can take him to the Medical District for a further examination."
"Yes, that seems to be the best course of action right now. Let me know if he wakes up, I have some questions for him." Ozpin said
Professor Peach nodded, as she unfolded the stretcher she carried with her, placed the boy on-top of it and pushed it back to the Bullhead. Ozpin sighed heavily, as much as he was concerned for the boy's health, the gauntlet that was inside of him was the more important matter right now. He followed behind Peach, and as soon as he get's back to Beacon, he's needs to do some further research into this matter.
Beacon Academy, Beacon Library | August 25th, 20XX | 9:00 PM | (3rd Person POV)
Located in the western quadrants of the academy, was Beacon's very own library, where students can freely access information or even stories. Students would often spend most of their time reading to study for upcoming tests or exams, or to read stories out of their enjoyment, or just use the library as a form of privacy. However, in recent years, students have often used the area as a small gathering place to play board games and to socialize instead. The library itself was about half the length and height of a football stadium and in the middle of the library, were desks with several holographic computer terminals that can be used to research articles of to access the CCT Tower.
The area itself were lined with book shelves about twenty-stories high that made up a majority of the library. With it being a library, the shelves were home to various textbooks including Grimm Studies, Remnant's History, Experiments involving Dust, Weapon Crafting, even Huntsman Law and Regulation. However, the library was also home to many bestsellers such as "The Thief and the Butcher" and "War of the Kings". Other than bestsellers, the library also housed various books that explores the more "supernatural" elements such as fairy tales and mythology. To the world, these stories were nothing more than fiction…at least to the naked eye.
Walking in to confirm about those same suspicions was Ozpin, who was looking for specific books that could provide him with some of the answers he needed…only time will tell. His first stop was the head to the mythology and fairy tale section of the library. But with hundreds, possibly thousands of books that filled the shelves, it will take days to find what he was looking for.
"Oh, hello Professor Ozpin." A voice said "Is there any particular reason why you're here after just leaving a half hour ago?"
Thankfully however, every library has its guide in the form of a librarian. The libraian in question was a young woman with a white complexion. She had violet eyes with a pair of oval-shaped spectacles. He hair was black in colour and had it styled in a short bob-cat. Her clothing consisted of a white long-sleeved sweater and black high-waisted pencil skirt which fade into brown stockings eventually being tucked into a pair of glass slippers. This was Sona Vespertilio, Beacon's librarian.
"Yes, I'm looking for theses." Ozpin said as he pulled out a slip of paper from his front pocket and handed it to Sonia.
The slip of paper contained the names of various books that seemed to focus on specific parts of Remnant's history and historical figures, all of which was spanned over eighty years ago. But what took Sona off guard, was that some of the books on the list seemed to focus on various myths, legends, and even fairy tales.
"I didn't take you for the type of person who would be into fairy tales, professor." Sona said
'Oh you have no idea.' Ozpin thought to himself
"May I ask why the sudden interest?" Sona asked
"I just want to confirm a suspicion of mine." Ozpin answered
"Very well, some of what you'll be looking for can be found three rows down from here." Sona said "Meanwhile the rest can be found under this history category in the fourth row." She said, as she pointed to the upper floors
"Thank you." Ozpin said, as he made his way towards the top floor of the library. He continued to search under the History category until he finally found one of the books that he was looking for: "The Great War". He opened up the book and started to flip through the pages, almost as if he was looking for a specific person.
Eventually, his eyes laid upon The Queen of Vacuo, "Vulcan", who was shown to have bull horns and wearing a red scarf. But then, his eyes trailed towards her right arm. On her arm, appeared to be the same gauntlet that was in the possession of the unconscious boy. He placed the book down on a nearby table and began to look for another book titled "The Faunus Rights Revolution". He opened the second book and flipped through the pages, eventually stopping at a picture that had General Lagune, an unexperienced military leader in captivity during the Faunus Wars. He attempted to catch the Faunus off guard during the night, however he failed to realize that a majority of the Faunus had a trick up their sleeves, night vision.
Because of this, Lagune and his considerably larger army was captured and was forever remembered as a failure. However, the headmaster wasn't looking for Lagune, but who was rather near the inexperienced general. The Headmaster's eyes landed upon a picture of a Bat-Faunus girl that wore light black clothing to use as camouflage in the dark. But what stood out from her outfit, was that she was wearing the same blue gauntlet as Queen Vulcan a lifetime ago. It seemed that his gauntlet appeared multiple times throughout history, but only through tales of conflict. From the Great War, to the Faunus Wars, and now to the present day. But the world of Remnant was now at a time of peace, so why did it show up now?
Ozpin already knew this answer, sighing as he closed the book and placed it back on its respected shelves. The Headmaster walked away from the library's History section and walked back downstairs to the library's Mythology and Fairy Tale section. His eyes scanned the shelves until he spotted a book called "The Sacred Arms". The tale of the Sacred Arms were among one of the lesser known Fairy Tales, much of their history was shrouded in mystery and superstition. Over the years, the story of the Sacred Arms changed frequently, from being crafted by an experienced Blacksmith by the name of Olaf Avalonian…to visiters granting humanity the knowledge to craft such weapons…to when humans used living souls and combined them with weapons.
This specific book that the Headmaster was holding, held only one of the few translated transcriptions of the Sacred Arms themselves. However, most of the sacred texts were scratched out, leaving out gaps of an unfinished story. Over the years, mythological experts have been unable to piece together what was written. Some devoted their live to transcripts what the texts say, but even they were driven to insanity. It's almost as if the ones who originally wrote the texts didn't want anyone but themselves to know what they say, almost as if they wanted this legend to fade out, to be forgotten. But for Professor Ozpin…all he needed was a second set of eyes to translate them…
Ozpin channeled his aura once more until it surrounded his entire body. Because of his power, the Headmaster was able to transcribe the following texts:
"Long, long ago, when the age of Kingdoms rose from the ashes and prospered, the world was watched over by two brothers of opposing elements. Humanity existed alongside these brothers for centuries in peace. That is, until one individual, a woman whose heart was filled with grief."
"The woman had lost her lover to a fatal illness. With her heart now filled with grief, she approached the elder brother and begged him to bringer her lover back, but he refused. Seeing how it would disrupt the world they worked so hard to maintain."
"After his denial, the woman turned towards the younger brother, who had granted her request. Seeing now that the balance was disrupted, the elder brother confronted his younger sibling. The two fought back and forth, the battle only ending with the elder brother told his counterpart of what truly happened."
"Realizing his mistake, the younger brother had killed the woman's lover right in front of her eyes. Enraged, the woman lashed out at the two brothers, who then cursed her to walk the face of Remnant Forever."
"Blaming the brothers for her curse, the woman travelled across the world, telling them false tales of how she stole immortality from the brothers and how they would no longer worry about losing anymore of their loved ones…and all they had to do, was to fight and to rid the world of the brothers once and for all."
"Seeing their disappointment with humanity, the brothers left the world and took all of their blessing with them. Most of humanity was wiped out…but with time, they eventually recovered and life flourished once more. The woman's fate was unknown, but future generations of storytellers would refer to her as The White Witch."
The Headmaster let out a silent sigh, knowing who the transcribed texts were referring too. But what happened before, was all in the past…and they need to focus on the present.
"But, before the brothers departed the world, they had given one final gift to humanity. These gifts came in the form of artifacts with powerful abilities. They were bestowed upon the remnant's of humanity to enact miracles on Remnant and could perhaps one day…reunite them. These artifacts became known as the Sacred Arms."
"Relics that are so unique that you can only be born with them and only one may exist at a time. "Those that possess a Sacred Arm, those same individuals hav grown to be very powerful and influential and their names were forever etched into Remnant's history. However, only a few of them would actually form a technique known as the Stasis Shatter. The ones that did, were rewarded with unimaginable power."
"But as the knoweldge of these Sacred Arms spread across the land, so did the greed and lust of people's hearts. Hunters, bandits, began hunting these Sacred Arm users across the land for their powers…and used them for their own purposes."
"Using and unknown method of magic, they devised a ritual capable of ripping that Sacred Arms out of the host' body and took them for themselves…which results in the deaths of the original users."
Over the next centuries, the Sacred Arm users were driven into hiding, keep their powers a secret until the very end of their lives. And until the knowledge of these weapons got lost in the sands of time."
"No one knows what remains of these relics to this day. Some say that they're nothing more than a myth. Some say that there's a possibility for the tale to hold truth."
"Though throughout the course of history, rather it was Human or Faunus, warriors would find these weapons themselves and used them as they saw fit."
"Some say that the Kings and Queens of Remnant wield these weapons to protect their people. Others say that Bandits used them to plunder villages."
"As for the White Witch, no one knows what has become of her to this day. Some say that she's still walking the face of Remnant, waiting for er curse to end."
"There have been rumors, tales, and songs based off of the different descendants of the weapons. It is a tale that has held throughout the sands of time."
"Though whether or not it keeps it's legacy will depend on the next generation of the weapon users."
Ozpin read through each individual weapon, with each page having a picture or even a description of what it looked like. And Ozpin stared long and hard at oe in particular, The Enchanted Right Arm: The Blue Dragon King's Gauntlet.
"So it is as I suspected, this weapon is the Enchanted Right Arm." Ozpin stated. Now an entire new set of questions were in his head as he confirmed his suspicions. "Now…how did the boy get his hands on such a power weapon?"
But unlike the Maidens, there was no consistency ith its possessors, meaning it was near impossible to tell who had one and who didn't. With his findings, the Headmaster took the scroll out of his pocket and called Glynda.
"Hello? Oh, Professor Ozpin. I wasn't expecting to hear back from you so soon. Have you finished your errands?" Glynda asked through the scroll
"Not quite. I need you to meet me in my office." Ozpin said
"Understood, if you don't mind me asking, what for?" Gynda asked through the scroll
"It appears that history is repeating itself once again." Ozpin said as he walked out of the library.

"To think that another one would just show up at our door once again." Glynda said
As Ozpin was finished reading though the various books in the library, Ozpin contact his right-hand Glynda Goodwitch and told her to meet him up in his office in Beacon Tower. As soon as she arrived, Ozpin explained what he had learned, from the boy he found near-death in the Emerald Forest, to discovering that the boy had a Sacred Arm in his body. To Glynda, this could prove troublesome as those who held such power are driven power-mad by the very thing they thought of nothing more as a tool. They become a tool for the tool.
"Yes, one of them hasn't appeared on our doorstep, not since all those years ago." Ozpin said
"Tech, yes I am all aware of the actions that your pupils decided to take when they found out about the truth of the situation." Glynda said with a hint of irritation in her voice
"They made a choice and that should not be something that they should be disgraced for." Ozpin said
"Though to turn their back on a kingdom!?" Glynda slightly shouted
"I said that they made a choice, I never said that I had to agree with the choices they made afterwards." Ozpin said
"…" Glynda stayed silent
"I know how much you looked up to them during your first years in Beacon." Ozpin said
"It was nothing but a childish admiration. I do not hold them high regard in the time of my youth." Glynda said
"Still, there is no shame in what she did, even in retreat." Ozpin said
"But some of us have different thoughts on that matter." Glynda said
"I was partially to blame for the way things turned out. Glynda. Do not forget that." Ozpin said
"…" Glynda remained silent
"Though what has happened is in the past now." Ozpin said "We must look towards the future."
"Yes, we must look for a new user for the Sacred Arm. With this power, we might be able to even the odds in this war of ours." Glynda said
"I believe we already found one." Ozpin said
"Hmm?…You mean the boy who appeared in the Emerald Forest?" Glynda asked "But we don't even know who he is!"
"Well if it was willing to save his life on its own accord. Then it means that it has at least taken a slight interest in its new partner. And remember Glynda, even if I did agree that we need to find a new user, remember what that will do to the boy." Ozpin said
"…" Glynda remained silent "You're right…still, you know what could potentially happen if he doesn't learn to regulate his Sacred Arm properly."
"Yes…I am well aware of the risks." Ozpin said
"But, Profess-!" Glynda began
Though before Glynda could continue, Ozpin cut her off "Though there is no guarantee that he wishes to bear such power, but I don't think he has that much of an option. Though, if he is willing to take such risks. then I shall personally train him."
"…" Glynda remained silent
"However, it will only be if he is willing to bear the responsibility for the power. Though in the end, the decision is entirely up to him." Ozpin said
"…" Glynda remained silent
"Have faith Glynda. His youth means that he will have more time to get accustomed to his power." Ozpin said
"Very well…for now." Glynda said "With that being said, don't you have some students to pick out?" Glynda asked
"Ah, yes, I will get right to that. Thank you, Glynda, you are dismissed." Ozpin said
Glynda Goodwitch nodded as she walked towards the elvator and left his office, leaving Ozpin alone to pick out potential students. Ozpin pulled out his scroll and looked through the list of first-year applicants once more. As he scrolled down, four students managed to catch his eyes.
"Hmm…Coco Adel…Fox Alistair….Velvet Scarlatina…and Yatsuhashi Daichi…" Ozpin muttered to himself as he looked over their transcripts
(Four Days Later) Beacon Academy, Beacon Tower | August 29th, 20XX | 9:10 AM | (3rd Person POV)
As the beginning of the school year was approaching, Ozpin, who had just finished picking out the rest of the first years to attend this semester had decided to see if could find any trace of the boy in the Kingdom's logs. So far, he had no such luck; he looked at medial records, dental records, facial recognition records, and any birth records he could find across the four kingdoms. He even went as far as beyond to see if the boy had citizenship somewhere outside of the kingdoms, but there was nothing. There even wasn't a single person who even had the slightest resemblance to the boy's DNA, which he had gotten from Peach.
'It's almost as if he didn't exist until now…' Ozpin thought to himself, his thoughts were then interrupted as his scroll began to ring. He looked down to see that that Peach was the one who was calling him. "Yes? What is it Thumbelina? Is there any news on the boy's condition?"
"That's the thing, Ozpin. He was awake!" Peach said in an excited tone through the scroll
"Was? What do you mean by that?" Ozpin asked in a confused tone
"Well he asked where he was, and I told him he was in the Medical District of Beacon Academy." Peach said through the scroll
"Then what happened?" Ozpin asked
"He...passed out on the floor, so he's back in bed again. But, he's okay, for a second there I thought he was in some sort of a coma." Peach sighed in relief on the other end of the scroll
"I see, that's great news. Let me know when he wakes up again, I would like to speak with him personally."
"Okay, that's if he doesn't pass out again." Peach said through the scroll
The connection cut off and the call ended. Ozpin then sat back in his chair with a slight smirk "This will be an interesting year."
Trivia:
- Beacon's librarian "Sonia Vespertilio", is named after "Sonia Sitri" from High School DxD. However, her last name "Vespertilio" is latin for the word "bat", which emphasize that devils have bat-like wings
- Olaf Avalonian the blacksmith is a callback to The Quebec's original story. In that variant, Olaf made the Enchanted weapons by making a deal with several spirits
