This is the first part to the reader's storyline with Jungkook.

Stacks of clothes plagued the rather small room, but no complaint really came from you as you ensured nothing unfolded without it being your intent. If anything did have the audacity to ruin your plans to be as tidy as possible, they'd just be randomly stuffed into the drawers. Fortunately for you, nothing really kept a home in these drawers, free for you to use whenever you pleased. That's exactly what Jeon Jungkook mentioned whenever he left you alone. Your timing in entering the home had been a bit off since they had a small meet and greet to attend. Kim Namjoon barely explained how you'd be rooming with Jungkook. You guessed it'd been because Jungkook had been the sole member without a roommate. You recalled the order for who roomed with who: Kim Seokjin and Min Yoongi, Namjoon and Kim Taehyung, and Park Jimin and Jung Hoseok. It'd been a rather fair organization. You rooming with Jungkook just made the most sense in your eyes.

He'd been friendly to you, though, a tad distant. The embrace had been short lived, caution in him as he asked for a hug rather than pull you into one as the others had done. Jin and Namjoon did the same, but Jungkook's tone highlighted a different element within it. He seemed hesitant, but not the hesitant that gives off a vibe of dislike. More so a vibe of reticence. You could respect that. After all, they saw you dance and sing, that being probably the sole first impression. You wouldn't guess he harbored intimidation by your presence, but you could assume he acted as any other would with a stranger invading their home and making it their new residence. Perhaps such a thing would make you nervous as well. You didn't know. In this case, you were the alien from another planet. You just hoped you wouldn't be dissected.

A grumble came from your mouth after you accidentally knocked down a pile of clothes neatly folded. Some of your shirts came undone as others kept the shape. A majority decided to become disheveled, however, this piquing annoyance throughout your system. Lowering down, you began to take the clothes into your arms.

"Y/N!" You heard a light voice call from another side of the apartment. You didn't get a chance to move since Jungkook emerged into the room with a smile upon his lips. He parted them, mouth agape in a signature expression as he took in the surroundings of his now messy room. Sheepishly, you tried to set down the bundle of clothes in your arms.

"... Are you putting everything in the drawers?" He asked with questioning eyes. You nodded your head at that, wondering why he'd asked. His chuckle following suit took you by surprise. He cleared his throat and entered the room further, gathering the shirts you once held in your arms. "Here, let me help you put these away."

He then walked and moved further into the depths of the room where his clothes were hung and folded on a multitude of shelves and bars. He returned to you fast, his hand coming up to the back of his neck with a rub of timidity.

"I should've been more specific. You can have the drawers, but we'll share the space there. Sorry about that," he said. He didn't say much else, instead lifting the rest of your clothes and heading over to the shelves. He began to hang items as you watched in curiosity. He'd been just as nervous as you in this ordeal. You didn't really know what to say about it, just continuing on to do as he said to. You didn't have a lot, dressy shirts being a dime a dozen compared to the ton of regular tees you owned and frequently wore.

There came a moment where you both stood side by side. You saw this as a chance to be more talkative rather than partake in the awkward silence.

"Are you sure you're okay with this?" His eyes diverted from the task at hand for a split second to glance at you. When you made eye contact, he dropped the gaze and attempted a laugh.

"Of course I am. You don't really have that much clothes… not that I'm saying you can't afford it or anything, but I have enough room for you and—"

"I meant with us sharing the room," you said over him. His jaw locked at that, face a slight tint of crimson.

"Oh," he flushed, "I mean, yeah, I am. It's only fair, right? I had this room to myself for quite some time. You're not too much trouble, are you?" This time when he looked at you, he didn't drop his stare. A curvature of one corner of his lips give way for his half smile, the slight parting of his mouth showing a partial amount of his teeth.

"No… no trouble at all." You couldn't help but smile back, somehow trapped in this weird smoothness he provided. No incantation suckered you in, more so swayed by the fact he paid more attention to you after you made sure he'd been comfortable with the situation. If you could call it a situation. You were just roommates.

"Ah… huh… isn't that a shame." He slyly curved his lips further into a smirk, going back to what he'd been doing before. You were taken back by the comment, it now being your turn to take a redder tint in your skin tone that reached all the way down to your neck. The two of you kept going in getting your clothes from point A to point B. Luckily for you, any under garments had already been put away into the drawers before he arrived. You thought ahead by doing this. That would've been an awkward time for the both of you.

You could both do away with any of those occurrences. The last thing you wanted was for your underwear to break the ice.

In the afternoon of the next day, you opted to wear a hoodie and a loose pair of fitting jeans. The others mentioned something about going to search for a new wardrobe soon (you were rather dreading this possibility) but other than that, everyone seemed to be busy doing tasks on their own agenda. You, in turn, decided to familiarize yourself more with the various places of the apartment. The outside had been on the chill side so you couldn't do much exploring there. Your legs led you to a reading Namjoon who tried to explain his search for inspiration. You didn't grow bored, but you felt as if he needed his time in solitude to really find what he sought. That's when you found Suga, who'd been in a similar state. You chose not to bother him since he seemed immersed in listening to tracks playing on his headphones. This led you to Jimin and J-Hope's dance practice. You were surprised to find they were putting together a choreography. They actually begged you to stick around, but their energy had really been no joke. An hour in and you ended up escaping to Jin who gladly helped you rehydrate and replenish lost nutrients. You talked a bit after that, Taehyung slyly joining the conversation with the slightest of ease.

Through the excitement and various types of interests fulfilled in the day, you did feel rather exhausted. But you had yet to see your roommate who you barely talked to since the incident with your clothes. This had you remove yourself from the conversation between Jin and Taehyung, maneuvering around the apartment. Come to think of it, you went to bed before Jungkook did and woke up after him as well. If his bed hadn't been messy and undone, you would've guessed he hadn't slept in your vicinity at all.

Your mind really did like to peg fault over your head on a consistent basis.

Sitting down to the edge of your bed, you wondered if you did something wrong. That lasted for all of two seconds since Jungkook entered the room, a nod of recognition in your direction. You were taken by surprise at his appearance.

It'd been a short sleeved shirt revealing the outlines of hard earned muscle and hair strands inked with sweat sticking to his forehead that gave away where he spent most of his time. A sheen went across his forehead and down his nose that almost made him glow with the added lighting of the room. With how you were at a loss for words, a part of you wanted to turn the lights off and ask why he'd been avoiding you, if he were at all that was. You said nothing. You just watched as he went across the room with a water bottle raising to his lips to take a swig. He didn't say anything on his part either, crossing about to grab clothing items. He obviously needed a shower, but you pushed yourself to snap out of whatever stupid trance he had you in.

"Are you going to shower?" You asked not so smoothly. He stood erect at this and then ran a hand through his hair.

"Yes… why? Do I smell bad?" He made a face at you and you couldn't help but laugh, the humor easing a bit of doubts in yourself.

"No, no, I was just wondering where you were today. I think I could guess now, though." You were surprised when he took a seat right next to you. It didn't invade any of your personal space, that respect still shared between the two of you as he looked down to his sneakers.

"I…" something seemed to be troubling him just as much as it were troubling you. "I thought I'd go out to the gym. The guys usually know, but I didn't really give you a heads up. It's where I get a lot of my alone time since everything is always a bit crowded. I love my Hyungs, don't get me wrong, but I like my freedom too."

This made a lot more sense to you. You nodded in understanding and felt a wave of relief wash over you. Your posture even showed it, tension disappearing and causing your back to slack some.

"If you need alone time, you don't have to tell me, Jungkook. It's fine. I was just wondering. That's about it."

He leveled you with his gaze right then, a shake of his head coming into fruition. It caused numerous strands of hair to move in tandem, a volume to it even if some of it attempted to dry past still slicking sweat.

"Thing is, I do have to tell you. We work so well together in the group because we're a family. You're not just a member. We're supposed to treat you as we would one another. You deserved a warning at the very least, right? Look, Y/N," he leaned in your proximity, "I'm not very good at this. It's probably why they put us to room together. I'm so used to having all this liberty and being alone that I kind of need time to adjust. They raised me, so I'm used to more of being attended to rather than being attentive. Aish, what a horrible roommate I must be already." He sighed out, removing his eyes from yours to look at the floor. Trouble danced in his frame. He must've been overthinking this. Him being who he was, he tried to do this at his very best. Since it didn't seem to be going so smoothly, of course a slight amount of stress would settle into his shoulders.

"You've been a great roommate. I'm not really good at this kind of thing either if I'm being honest. I'm fine with spending more time together to figure it out, though… you know, if that's okay with you." Lifting his head from the slight bowed position, he returned your soft stare with one of his own. A smile etched onto his facial structure and he agreed without hesitation.

"I think that's a great idea." Standing back to his feet, he shyly took the clothes he gathered and exited the room with a final look your way. You were looking forward to your future time together.

Something about the lingering smile told you he was looking forward to it, too.
