This is the first part to Hoseok's continuation.

Music streamed throughout the studio, the eight of you becoming lost in the new instrumentals being fed. It felt more than surreal to you to be at this point. Listening to items like this you'd hear from their different voices made your heart skip a beat. Except, this track was to feature your own voice and soon it would feature your own dance moves you'd languidly provide without a second thought. The lyrics had yet to be figured out, but the taste had been enough to get your head swimming. You had more than a good reason to be smiling from ear to ear as you swayed your body back and forth to the steady rhythm.

Of course that reason and the fact that Hoseok kept making faces at you from across the room.

As anyone would, you felt a connection to music. You could feel it in your heart and soul, but it'd gone at least through your pores since Hoseok would smile and wink and puff his cheeks out every so often your eyes met. Your favorite had to be when he stuck his tongue out and Namjoon looked at him awkwardly since you turned away to leave him hung and dry.

The soft music filtered through your ears, a laugh coming from your mouth when you turned to see Hoseok's fingers pinching his ears and pulling on them as his dimples sprouted up. His target to amuse you through the ongoing track was the same as it had been throughout your stay at the extravagant apartment. He wanted the two of you to share a space, volunteering the second the question came up. Living arrangements stood as a concern when you prepared to move in with the rest of the group, unsure if the members would want you to be near them or if you needed to take a separate form of housing. And yet, no one made you feel unwelcome. Quite the opposite, Hoseok made it his duty to ensure that you did feel welcome.

A soft giggle falling from your lips must've been too loud because the music floating in the room came to an abrupt stop. You blinked several times as you took a glance around, the confusion plastered on the rest of the boys' faces not doing any good to settle a sudden rise in your nerves. Your hands fell into your lap, feet tucking underneath you and you sat up straighter as the one behind the booth's voice came over to replace the previous harmonies.

"I would think that a new member would be professional considering how hard it was to get to this spot." The voice caused you to wince slightly, your head bowing as you took in the condescending tone repeatedly throughout your mind. You felt embarrassed by the callout, not bothering to look at the others after what you were just told.

Silence took a hold of the atmosphere for a few seconds longer before the music awkwardly began to play through the thick tension in the room. You could feel the eyes on you, but you didn't want to look up at them to see the disappointment most likely collected in them. The passive aggressive message sent vocally had been enough and to see the same thing floating in your fellow band members' facial features would grip at your pride. You worked too hard to get there and you weren't going to fumble under the first bits of pressure the real process placed onto your shoulders.

So, you sang when it was your turn and went off of the energy from the previous part. Hopefully the urge to glance up and see Hoseok making another silly face would dissipate by the end of the session.

Eventually, the hour came to an end and you all were granted the luxury of returning to the lavish apartment. You averted eye contact the entire way there, heading off to the shared bedroom to inhale heavy breaths. In a way, it felt like a miracle to be a part of something you wanted for so long. However, in your disbelief of actually accomplishing such a big portion of your dreams, fear weighed in that it could all be taken away. If this interaction was small in the eyes of others, it didn't change the fact that it worried you over how impermanent your status was.

You leaned backwards into the door behind you, trying to breathe evenly instead of the way you previously fell into. If you weren't careful, anxiety could take control and what you needed was to remain in the driver's seat. This slip-up could not happen again if you wanted to stay and show why you deserved to. So far, you gave plenty of reasons as to why you were the best candidate, but your confidence took quite the blow back there.

A knock at the door vibrated against your spine and you immediately lurched off of it and stared at it as if you could see who stood at the other side. When it occurred to you that it was made of wood and not glass, you pressed your forehead to it and listened as Hoseok began to speak:

"Y/N? You in there?"

His tone was pillow soft, genuine in checking in on you… or he needed to come inside because it was his room, too. Regardless, you took it as the former and sighed out as you responded.

"Yeah… I'm in here."

"May I come in?"

He sounded hopeful. Not in the sense that he believed that you would allow him inside, but in the sense of hoping you would make an exception in your mission to avoid human interaction when you currently felt so shitty. You paused for a moment, drawing yourself together to be mature enough and be a good enough roommate instead of shutting everyone out completely. Then, you twisted the door's handle and brought it open to unveil Hoseok's somewhat solemn expression.

That is, until he saw you.

His eyes softened and a sheepish smile broke over his lips.

"Come on, I want to show you something."

Agreeing to follow Hoseok out of the apartment came easier to you than you thought. The two of you travelled outside and were met with warm air molding around your skin. The air conditioned surroundings of your new home were appreciated, but something felt different about being out there with Hoseok. Your eyes didn't strain because of how dim it currently was and with a point of his finger, you quickly deciphered the reason: a sunset.

He took you out there to see the sunset.

The two of you walked forward and he chose a spot in the grass to come down into, which you followed suit by sitting right next to him. Your hands fell into the ground behind you and the two of you looked off into the horizon to see over half of the sun peeking from mounds of land ahead. The view felt beyond words, nature having this knack for rendering the most extroverted souls silent just to bask in the beauty it effortlessly displayed. It's like the world calmed and everyone stopped the havoc for a minute to look, too.

"I'm sorry," Hoseok said. His quiet declaration caused your head to turn in his direction, but he still kept his gaze ahead at the phenomenon of the sun.

"I got you in trouble. I should've said something, but I was surprised it happened in the first place," he continued. He kept his eyes off of you, but you read his face nonetheless and recognized the guilt currently resting in his pupils and body language. You were so focused on the idea of how it was your own mistake that you forgot the fact that he was going out of his way to make you laugh. Maybe because that sounded like a ridiculous thing to blame someone for.

"You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. He didn't mean it, but he had no right to talk to you that way just because you're new." Finally, Hoseok turned from the setting sun to look your way, his expression remaining gentle and inviting with a touch of sincerity coating his features.

"I was laughing with you and he picked on you. I'm sorry I put you in that position, but I'm also sorry for how stupid it was." His hand reached out to yours and you hesitated as you dropped to stare at it. He offered himself closer to you and you weren't sure how to handle it, feeling ashamed of your stint. Showing feelings was what you could always promote, but the negative ones are those you attempted to lock away and hide deep. If it was obvious to Hoseok, you were sure it was obvious to the others still at the apartment and the one who most likely felt accomplished behind the booth. You cracked when you felt as if you were successful in keeping things at bay and under something so simple.

"Y/N," he said in an effort to gain your attention because of how you spaced off. You gradually took his hand when you realized he had yet to pull it away and then brought yourself to look back at his facial structure.

"You belong here. They chose you and no one can take that away. We're all family here and it won't just disappear because of something so dumb." He squeezed your hand in his and it was enough for you to nod and relax. Your shoulders went lax, his little speech easing some of the stress you held in your brain by simply telling you what you already knew. You supposed it helped because of the need to hear it from someone else and not because of how Hoseok seemed to find a way to brighten up the mood.

The two of you fell under silence's spell yet again as you both turned your attention back to the sun. It stole your focus before it slipped away and left the two of you in the night solely illuminated by the moon and stars. Though, neither of you felt like moving from your spots for some minutes until he stood to his feet and offered his hands to help you to yours. This time, you did not hesitate to take his gesture, walking back with him as you mimicked his contagious smile.
