Chapter 3: Song of the Hawk

As the morning sun appeared over the horizon, and as the flying birds chirped under the light of day, one raven-haired teen was awoken from his slumber by a series of loud knocks. Slowly opening his eyes, the young shinobi found himself laying on a bed, inside an unfamiliar room.

With his drowsiness from waking up quickly subsiding, he immediately stood up with his guard held high. He was about to use Shunshin no Jutsu to escape the place he's in, when his memories of the past day returned. 'That's right… I'm in Beacon' he thought, before slowly relaxing and sitting down on his bed.

Exhaling slowly, he then closed his eyes, as his mind wandered back to the event that occurred during the night, one that brought extreme distress to his whole being.

The Night Before

"Kaguya!" Sasuke uttered, as his wide eyes stared at the eerie and shattered moon above the night skies. Never in his wildest dreams that he, one of the strongest shinobis to ever live, would come to fear the sight of a broken moon.

However, it wasn't specifically the giant rock, orbiting around the world, he's terrified of. For it is actually the being sealed inside that made him anxious, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki the rabbit goddess. She who consumed the fruit of the God Tree and the first wielder of chakra on Earth. She who merged with the tree to become the Ten Tails, a being of absolute power.

Normally, he would just scoff at the thought that such a strong being exists. But after witnessing firsthand, how powerful and real Kaguya truly is, he would be lying if he were to say that he doesn't fear her in the slightest. After all, they barely survived when they fought her even with the powers gifted by the Rikudō Sennin, himself.

'No! This isn't the Elemental Nations… she's not sealed in that moon' he assured himself, before pushing his wild thoughts away, to calm his petrified form. He then closed his eyes, slowly inhaling and exhaling a couple of times, before opening it once more.

'But still… this moon… I get a bad feeling just when looking at it' he thought, as he gazed at the giant rock above the star littered skies. 'Somehow, I get the feeling that the Ōtsutsukis are responsible for this. Breaking the moon is no small feat, as it takes a lot of power to do that' he grimly mused, not liking one bit where his thoughts are heading.

The Ōtsutsukisare an ancient clan of horned celestial beings, capable of traveling across multiple dimensions with relative ease. Which is why, his assumption isn't far-fetched at all. Even if he doesn't have any proof to support his speculation, there is still the possibility that they somehow explored this world, centuries long before him.

Add that to the notion that chakra and aura are two alike energies. The former was gifted by Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki to humanity through the practice of ninshū, the predecessor of ninjutsu. While the latter is the manifestation of one's soul, according to the books he read.

The true origin of aura to this day is still unknown. However, Sasuke has this nagging feeling at the back of his head that it is somewhat tied to chakra, as their similarities are undoubtedly uncanny. If that's true then it must have also originated from the Ōtsutsukis themselves. Why and how, he questioned himself yet failing to give a proper answer.

He frowned, as the thin line separating the two is dwindling. 'Hopefully, I am wrong… but still, I need to tell this to the leaf' he shortly mused, before jumping through the window and landing outside in a crouch, all without making any single sound.

Under the cover of the night, he stood up and dashed forward, before leaping atop a tree branch, with the goal of finding a secluded space to summon Aoda. How could he not after what he saw tonight? Add that to the sinking feeling he's having, it's better to be safe than sorry.

After jumping across multiple tree branches, he finally found a spot far from the school and away from any prying eyes. 'This will do' he thought, before leaping down to the ground. He then activated his Sharingan as he searched the clearing in front of him for any cameras.

Finding none, he quickly bit his right thumb and performed a series of hand seals before pressing his hand on the ground. "Kuchiyose no Jutsu" he uttered, as numerous black markings appeared on the forest's floor, all forming a small spiderweb of some sort. Suddenly an explosion of white smoke enveloped the space before him, hindering his vision for a second before completely disappearing.

"Aoda" the Uchiha said, as he gazed at the newly summoned gigantic blue snake with light-green eyes, that easily towers the clearing in front of him. "Sasuke-sama" the reptile named Aoda replied, before bowing his enormous head, as a form of respect for his summoner.

"I'd like you to bring a message back to the leaf."

Present Time

The shinobi's thoughts were suddenly halted when another series of loud knocks, coming from his door, garnered his attention. 'That's right… I have to take the initiation' Sasuke momentarily mused, before immediately changing back to his gear that was sealed in his scroll. After a minute of gearing up and checking his tools, he took his cloak hanging from the edge of the bed before putting it on.

He then went towards the door, twisting its knob before pulling to open it. "You took quite a while, Mr. Uchiha" the blonde professor in front of him stated. Calculating and sternness, ever so present on her face, just like yesterday.

"Good morning, Mr. Uchiha" Goodwitch sternly greeted, while still being cautious towards him. It's no surprise that she still doesn't like nor trust him one bit, yet he doesn't blame her for that. After all, only a fool would trust a shinobi like him… and only a bigger fool like Ozpin will try to use him for his gains.

"Hn" he coolly replied, all the while ignoring the visible displeasure of the blonde towards his rude response. "Your initiation will begin shortly. Follow me towards the cliff, the headmaster is already waiting" she sternly said, as she quelled her irritation at the teen before walking away. Wanting to end the exam as fast as possible, he obliged and followed her stride.

After walking for quite a while in silence, the professor and the shinobi finally reached the cliffs where the exam will occur. Upon arriving, Sasuke immediately took notice of the headmaster sipping from his mug, before moving his gaze towards team RWBY now donned in what he can tell, Beacon's school uniform, along with some teens he wasn't familiar with.

Ignoring them for now, he walked towards the headmaster. "Good Morning, Mr. Uchiha. I do hope you had a good night's rest" Ozpin greeted with a small smile. Sasuke being silent as always, merely nodded.

"I also hope that you don't mind team RWBY and JNPR being here" he continued while gesturing at the teens behind him. "Ms. Rose asked me earlier if they could spectate your exam. Seeing that you've already been acquainted, I saw no harm in it so I allowed them."

Sasuke glanced at them for a while, observing the smiling sisters along with the stern looking Weiss and the expressionless Blake, before nodding. "I don't mind" he nonchalantly replied.

What the young Uchiha failed to notice yesterday is that the smiles of both Yang and Ruby reminds him of his closest friend. Cheerful and friendly just like that of Naruto, the blonde idiot who always sees the good in people.

On the other hand, Weiss reminds the shinobi of his past self: arrogant, prideful with so much to prove. The only thing left missing before becoming an exact copy of him is his eyes. Not his Sharingan of course, but his long-gone avenger eyes that were once clouded in hate and vengeance.

Blake, the final member of team RWBY however, is a different story, as she also reminds the Uchiha of his past just like the Schnee girl but more towards his dark side. On the surface she may be passive and reserved, but it only took one glance from the shinobi to know it's all a façade.

He can see it clearly in her eyes, the hate and pain towards someone he did not know, that's begging to be released. Although it is weaker than his when he was younger, they are still undoubtedly the eyes of an avenger. How and why did she get those eyes? He didn't care for it is not his business to know.

"Oh, by the way, Sasuke this is team JNPR, our friends!" Ruby excitingly said, interrupting his thoughts and garnering his attention.

'So, this is team they're talking about yesterday' he mused as he looked towards them. "Uh, weren't you the guy who attacked us?" The boy with a fair skin, blonde hair and dark-blue eyes nervously asked him. 'And you were the guy who almost pissed his pants' the shinobi dryly thought while impassively looking at the blonde.

"Forgive us for that Mr. Arc, it was a simple misunderstanding on both of our sides" Ozpin interjected, apologizing for the Uchiha's behalf.

Normally due to his pride, Sasuke wouldn't apologize for anything, but seeing as he was the one at fault. He just bit his tongue and pushed his Uchiha pride aside, for now at least. "I apologize for yesterday" he said while adding a small bow that slightly surprised the blonde boy.

"It's fine man, mistakes happen. I uh- I'm Jaune Arc by the way" the blonde boy tried to play it cool and held his right hand for Sasuke to shake, despite the obvious nervousness from his tone. He hesitated for a second before taking Jaune's hand and shaking it. "Sasuke. Uchiha Sasuke."

"Oooh can I shake the magician's hand too Ren?" A voice of a bubbly and energetic girl, gathered his attention. Looking towards the direction of the voice, he saw a fair-skinned young woman with orange hair and turquoise eyes, standing beside a young man with long black hair and a magenta streak on the right side.

The latter sighed at the former's antics before introducing themselves. "Lie Ren and this is Nora Valkyrie." Sasuke observed them for a second before nodding. After being friends with an obnoxious blonde for many years, he could already tell that orange haired girl would be the bane of his existence in the future, along with Yang Xiao Long.

'Why do I always find myself in these sorts of mess?' He dryly mused, before pushing his thoughts at the back of his head while praying that he is somewhat wrong. He then looked towards the final and unnamed member of team JNPR, the tall girl with green eyes and red hair tied in a ponytail.

Noticing the shinobi's gaze towards her, she smiled before introducing herself. "I'm Pyrrha Nikos. Nice to finally meet you, Sasuke."

'If her hair was on a lighter shade of red, I could easily mistake her for an Uzumaki' he briefly thought, before replying, "Likewise." His dry response didn't seem to bother Pyrrha as her friendly smile was still plastered on her face.

"Now that you're more formally acquainted with team JNPR, I believe it's time that we start your exam" Ozpin said, accumulating everyone's attention. "All right! I've been waiting to see you in action, blacky!" The Y of team RWBY excitedly announced, garnering small smiles from some of the teens and an annoyed look from Sasuke.

'Annoying blonde' the shinobi mused to himself, clearly irritated at the nickname given to him by Yang. "Do your best, Sasuke!" The leader of team RWBY said to him while smiling warmly, her shyness yesterday towards the shinobi was long gone.

She really does remind him of Naruto, cheerful, energetic and naïve. He admits that it's quite refreshing for him to see her act her age. After seeing too much death occur in his life, a little positivity wouldn't hurt, except of course for Yang's antics. He would rather choose to live in an isolated dimension than entertain her piss-poor humor.

Shaking his head, he discretely activated his Dōjutsu before applying a small disguise over it with the help of Henge no Jutsu. 'Time to set my plan in motion' the raven-haired teen thought, while team RWBY and JNPR are busy having a small chat.

The headmaster met his eyes for a second, failing to notice his Sharingan disguised by the transformation technique. "Are you ready, Mr. Uchiha?" Ozpin questioned him, to which he nodded. 'You erred in letting your guard down, Ozpin' he smirked, much to the headmaster's confusion, before deactivating his kekkei genkai.

"What's my objective in this?" He inquired Ozpin. "Your task is to retrieve a relic from the abandoned temple at the east of the forest and bring it back here" the headmaster replied, to which he nodded in response.

"Very well, please stand at the platform then, Mr. Uchiha and you'll be sent towards the Emerald Forest" Ozpin said before taking a sip from his mug. "Do your best, Sasuke/Blacky!" Both the sisters cheered at the same time, to which he replied with his usual "hn."

He then walked and stood on top of the platform. 'If they are staying here then that means the forest is littered with cameras' he bitterly concluded, before smirking. 'Well then, observe me for the last time… Ozpin.'

After being used by multiple powerful people in the past years of his life, Sasuke grew a certain hate towards authoritative figures like Ozpin. As such, he refuses to become anyone's pawn no matter the reason. Soon, the headmaster will knowthat he bit more than he could ever hope to chew.

Snapping away from his thoughts, Sasuke finally felt himself launched upwards and towards the direction of the Emerald Forest, by the platform he was standing on. Quickly, he straightened up his posture while placing his feet together, so that he could soar the air faster due to less wind resistance.

Soaring like a bullet in the air, it only took a few seconds before he quickly shrank from everyone's sights. "Well, there he goes" Yang commented, before whistling at the departing figure of the Uchiha. "It's quite impressive" Pyrrha said while looking mildly impressed.

"He's so cool! He was like whoosh and shoosh then he flew straight at the Emerald Forest!" Ruby excitedly said with comically starry eyes, clearly impressed at the display of speed. "Of course, he is! It's cause he's a magician!" Nora more than eagerly agreed, earning a sweat drop from most of the teens and a laugh from Yang.

"Never change, Nora. Never change" the blonde of team RWBY exclaimed between her laughs. "Somehow, I doubt she will ever change" Jaune sweat dropped, earning a couple of giggles from the others. "Please don't encourage her, Jaune" Ren sighed.

"Students, I've already shared the life feed of Mr. Uchiha's initiation to your scrolls. You may do watch if you desire" Ozpin interrupted teens, as he and Goodwitch took their respective scrolls to watch how the shinobi would fare. With nothing left to do, the teens soon followed the two adults and took their own scrolls to watch the initiation.

Landing wasn't exactly a problem to Sasuke, as he can easily create a clone to boost him up or he can just tank the damage of the fall. It wasn't exactly the highest place he fell from, nor would the impact damage him badly. The only problem with those options is that it would lead to more questions being asked.

He was done socializing for the moment, as he had more important matters to do, like studying about Remnant and aura's connection with chakra. Creating such questions would only cause the others to bug him, disallowing him to tend his tasks. As such, instead of performing a 'flashy' technique to land, he decided to use the simplest landing strategy he could think of, with the help of a kunai and a shinobi wire.

As he approached the forest floor, he swiftly reached for his back pouch and took a single kunai before attaching a wire string to it. With perfect accuracy and enough force, he quickly threw the kunai towards a tree branch, it soared in the air for a second becoming deeply embedded on the wood. He then firmly grabbed the wire with the intention of using it like a grappling hook, as he swung himself over the branch before landing on top it.

Because he was lacking a reserve of shinobi tools, he decided to retrieve his kunai and shinobi wire before pocketing it in his back pouch. With the help of chakra, he then jumped upwards to the top of the tree, in order to get a better look at the sun.

'The sun rises from the east, which means the location of the temple is towards there' he thought while looking at the direction of the sun.

After his numerous hunting and camping trips with Itachi before the Uchiha genocide, he learned from his brother how to easily locate the east and the west using the sun. He remembers Itachi telling him that the sun rises from the east during morning, then settles in the middle during noon, before finally setting at the west during the night.

Thinking back to his brother's lesson, Sasuke can't help but smile sadly, as a feeling of longing and nostalgia washed over him. The last words of his brother echoes in his mind. 'You don't ever have to forgive me, and no matter what you do from here on out, I will love you always.'

Shinobis aren't tools, they are and always will be human. No matter how hard they try to deny this fact, no matter how hard they try to mask their emotions, they will always fail. As to why he felt an ache he thought he had long since forgotten. The pain of his brother's sacrifice, the pain of his brother's sadness, the pain of his brother's love and the pain of his love for his brother.

However, no matter how painful it is for him to remember Itachi, he had never forgotten that lesson and instead took it to his heart, as it's one of his most precious memories he spent with his brother before hell broke loose.

The last Uchiha stood there for a while, reminiscing and staring into nothingness before finally recovering from his mild stupor. He was about to poke his forehead using his right index and middle finger, just like his brother did but decided against it.

His frown then deepened before he clicked his tongue, more than irritated at himself for being emotional and wasting time. 'There's always the right time and place for that' he thought, before briefly stopping. 'Now however, is not the right time nor place' he continued, before jumping down at a branch. He then placed chakra at his feet as he leapt from tree to tree, repeating the process as he heads toward the east.

"Huh? Why did he suddenly stop?" Ruby questioned, confused at why the shinobi is staring blankly at sky while on top of the tree. "Maybe he's planning something" Jaune answered while looking quite unsure himself.

"But still, blacky got some moves! To easily leap on top of a tree that tall, he's like a ninja!" Yang eagerly commented while watching from her scroll. The other teens looked at her oddly, like she grew a second head. If only they knew how right she is.

"Silly Yang, everyone knows you can't be a ninja if you're already a magician!" Nora voiced out as eagerly as the blonde, to which Ren sighed again. "Just ignore her" he stated.

"Why does he look sad?" Ruby asked again, as she changed the camera view from her scroll to get a better look of Sasuke. The other teens including the two professors looked at her for a second, obviously confused, before changing the camera perspective from their scrolls as well.

What greeted them, upon changing the view is the face of Sasuke that looks troubled. An expression that slightly surprised the spectators, as it seemed too foreign to be on the face of the usual expressionless Uchiha. They can almost feel his emotions washing over them, almost like it's telling them his story.

'And here I thought you're devoid of emotions, Mr. Uchiha' Ozpin mused as he took another sip from his mug. Although it wasn't visible from his face, he was quite relieved to know that the teen he thought to be cold and impassive can in fact, still feel.

What made the young man like this? Ozpin may never know as the only thing he knows about him are the basics: name, home and semblance. The rest is a blank canvas free for anyone to speculate upon.

However, what he does know is that there are still a lot of things that the young man is hiding in his closet. The fact that he carries himself like a war veteran is a proof in that. In addition to his prowess to fight Goodwitch on an even footing, one of the best professional huntress nonetheless.

Furthermore, Ozpin even believes that the Uchiha can defeat Glynda yesterday if he didn't intervene. Which is why he had already accepted the young man at Beacon, albeit secretly. The only true reason why Sasuke is still required to take the initiation at this point, is merely formality… and perhaps a little observation.

Uchiha Sasuke is an enigma that can't be solved or even bought. A wild card one would say, that Ozpin desperately needs. As to why Ozpin is willing to make a bet, to do everything he can to make the Uchiha an ally of him in his battle against Salem. He is willing to make a bet indeed, that the Uchiha may be able to change the tide of the battle in his favor.

Confusion isn't the best word to describe what Ruby is feeling right now. Is it sympathy, empathy or even sadness? She didn't really know what to feel when she saw the usual stoic and mysterious Sasuke, filled with such sorrow and pain. She doesn't even need to be a genius to know that he bottled those emotions for a long time, and now seeping through the cracks of his expressionless façade.

'What should I do?' she asked herself as she really wants to help and cheer him up. Although, she had only met him yesterday and basically knew nothing about him. That doesn't change the fact that she already considers him as a friend and would do everything in her power to help him, such is her naivety.

'Oh, I know maybe I could ask him to hang around with us! Yeah that will cheer him up!" Ruby excitingly thought, with newfound conviction visible on her face. 'He may be scary at first but I bet he's just lonely' she mused to herself, dedicated to cheer up her new friend after he's done with his initiation.

Just like her, the blonde sister also found a newfangled objective in her mind, although quite different from her younger sibling.

'Holy shit! Blacky actually looks cuter when he's showing emotion! What the hell!' was what Yang immediately thought when she saw the sorrowful of Sasuke. 'Dibs definitely dibs!' she mused to herself before cackling, confusing the rest of teens and the two professors.

Unlike the two aforementioned before, Weiss is becoming more and more puzzled at the enigma, that is Uchiha Sasuke. At first, he appeared out of nowhere and attacked one of her peers along with her professor. The next thing she knew, she and her teammates was assigned to tour him throughout the academy.

It left her baffled, enraged even, as she opposed the idea of being near such a dangerous and unknown individual. It wasn't because she was scared nor cautious, although she has the right to. She was angry because the headmaster accepted him at Beacon right off the bat without even throwing caution to the wind, or so she thought.

She disliked him for being recruited by Ozpin without even punishing his previous actions. She disliked him because he is shady, secretive, and not to mention, dangerous. She hated him because his stoic façade, reminds Weiss of her father, the emotionless and cold Jacques Schnee.

Yet all that hate and dislike towards the Uchiha was replaced by confusion, when she saw the state of the supposed emotionless individual. Gone were his cold façade, as it was replaced by sadness. Gone were his stoic face, only to be replaced by a face filled with longing.

One way or another, it added another layer of mystery to the already shrouded teen. Yet she can't help but feel curious, as to what in the world could turn a stoic individual like that into the vulnerable boy, she is seeing right now.

'Perhaps I misjudged him' she thought while biting her lower lip, feeling a bit ashamed that she easily judged the Uchiha without knowing him fully. 'But I'm not wrong, am I? I mean he just popped out of nowhere and attacked the professor and Cardin! Of course, I had the right to be wary!' she mused in mild irritation, before quickly calming herself.

'No, he must have his reasons for not wanting to share, and I must respect that' she thought while gazing at the now moving Uchiha, shown in her scroll. Despite what she told herself, she still can't help but feel her curiosity being drawn towards the shinobi. Almost like a song of the hawk, urging children to explore to the mountains.

"Who are you really, Uchiha?" she asked herself softly, unheard by anyone else. As the wind blew her hair ever so slowly, a new kindled determination became visible on her eyes. Maybe giving the shinobi a chance to redeem himself wouldn't be so bad, after all.

Despite her teammates somewhat warming up to the last Uchiha, Blake on the other hand, is still skeptical at what she is seeing right now. Nevertheless, she is not heartless, as to why she could mildly sympathize with the shinobi.

She knows that feeling. She knows what's it like to bottle up your emotions, hiding it away and wishing it will never break out. She had been in that position for far too long, that she got good at it. Eventually hiding her real self and emotions behind a persona she created.

Now, after seeing it from a different person, she can't help but pity the Uchiha, a little bit. However, as much as she wants to help him, she doesn't trust him yet. How could she? After all, he literally appeared out of nowhere and attacked her professor with the intent to kill.

Add that to the fact, that every time she gazes towards his visible eye, she sees the eye of a killer. One she's more familiar than she would like to admit due to being a former member of the White Fang. She can't help but admit how similar the Uchiha is to Adam. It even unnerved her to the point, where she could feel the hair from the back of her neck rising up.

Snapping away from her thoughts, she sighed, before narrowing her eyes at the scroll held in her hand. She can't help but question Ozpin's sanity, for accepting such a dangerous individual at Beacon.

Yet who is she to reprimand the headmaster's decision? After all, she's also considered to be the same category as him, due to her previous ties with the White Fang.

Nevertheless, she can't help but feel her anxiety, clawing at the back of her mind, due to the shinobi's presence. Her instincts told her; it would be a grave mistake to ignore it. As to why she decided, that she would keep an eye out at the Uchiha. And if he ever shows the slightest intention of harming her and her teammates, she would do everything in her power to bring him down, no matter the cost.

Unbeknownst to the faunus in disguise, Glynda Goodwitch is also skeptical, as she observed the crestfallen shinobi from her scroll. 'Is this some kind of act? Is he planning something?' she thought, while narrowing her eyes at the device in her hand.

One moment he was cold and emotionless, another second, he's showing emotions. There was something off about it, and it boggled her mind. The blonde professor may not know the Uchiha for a long time but she wasn't naive. She knows that he's hiding something, which is why she doesn't trust him one bit.

Moreover, she's not Ozpin who would welcome any 'wasted potential' with open arms, which is the problem. The headmaster is far too trusting, that she believes it would stab him in the back sooner or later. If only she's the headmaster, then she would send the Uchiha straight to the authorities, without a second thought.

Still, she could no nothing in her position but trust Ozpin's decision. 'I hope you know what you're doing, headmaster' she briefly thought, before letting out a breath, she didn't know she was holding. All she could do for now, is watch over the Uchiha, in Ozpin's stead.

Unlike the people who're more acquainted with the Uchiha, team JNPR's reaction is slightly subdued. After all, they just met Sasuke, as to why they weren't really familiar on how he acts nor what to expect. Nevertheless, varied emotions were still visible on the teens face.

Jaune looks surprised, as he didn't expect the shinobi to break his expressionless façade. Nora was plainly confused, oblivious to why the shinobi looks sad. Ren had a look of sympathy on his face, as he could somewhat relate in bottling emotions. While Pyrrha looks worried, for what the Uchiha is feeling right now.

Despite their assorted expressions, none but a single question, popped in each of their minds. 'Why does he look sad?' Still, no matter how hard they theorize, their guesses are no better than anyone else. As the Uchiha's thoughts and secrets were his alone.

After jumping from branch to branch, the young Uchiha finally reached his destination without the slightest disturbance. Jumping down from the tree, he landed in a crouch, all without making a single noise. He then cautiously walked forward, taking note of the dilapidated stone structures that littered the area he is in.

Upon nearing the supposed ruin of the temple, his gaze was immediately attracted by a lone object that stands on a pedestal, lined around the rotunda. Taking a close look at the relic, his eyes narrowed before he scowled at the what he saw. A crimson pawn.

'Are you mocking me, Ozpin?' He thought darkly, as his killing intent surges throughout the whole area, uncaring whether he attracts a Grimm or two.

A pawn is still a pawn no matter what color you paint it, and Ozpin definitely knows this. Despite him telling the headmaster yesterday; that he loathes being controlled, he despises people thinking they're kings and he absolutely detest being used like a pawn. Yet, Ozpin still chose his relic to be that of a pawn.

Whether to mock him or plain arrogance, Sasuke does not care. Ozpin is a fool, for testing his patience by pulling this move on him. Soon, he will know, that it's his greatest error.

'Do not mistake me humoring you as my patience, Ozpin!' He mused darkly, before slightly smirking. 'Afterall, you are no longer in control' he briefly thought, before letting his killing intent disappear. With his anger mildly quelled, he then took the chess piece from the pedestal and pocketed it in his back pouch.

With his relic now collected, he turned around and walked away from the temple. It only took him three steps before he heard a couple of low growls. Quickly, he activated his Sharingan, as he stopped his stride to look towards the destination of the noise.

'Beowolves' he concluded, as he took note of the appearance of the dozen Grimms, meters away from him. Slightly larger than the average human, the Grimm in front of him, takes the appearance of a wolf. Its face is covered by a bone mask with red markings, while bone spikes are protruding from their arms, back, and knees. Furthermore, their hands and feet are also tipped with long and sharp, white claws.

According to the book he read, the creatures of Grimm, or simply Grimm, are monsters inhabiting various parts of Remnant. Moreover, They are described as "creatures of destruction" that lack a soul; hence, they are unable to use Aura. The most notable about them, is that they are drawn to feelings of negativity like sadness, anger and grief.

'I see, so they were drawn here by my killing intent' he dully thought, before he unsheathed Kusanagi no Tsuruki, his trusted sword, from his scabbard on his right waist. The beowolves bayed in response to his action, before they charged at him.

Calmly sidestepping one beowolf that attempted to slash him, Sasuke retaliated by swiftly thrusting his sword at its neck, immediately killing it and allowing to evaporate into nothing. He then leaped backwards to avoid another slash from a different beowolf, before landing at a safe distance.

'Their neck is quite flimsy. I wonder how durable their bone spikes are' he mused, before running ahead at a beowolf for answers. Jumping away from its claws, he landed at the Grimm's back. Surprised at the action, the beowolf tried to get him off by briskly shaking its body. However, due to the chakra imbued on the shinobi's feet, he stayed on.

He then quickly poised his sword above his head, before vertically slashing the beowolf's spike. Surprisingly, the bone spike was able to endure his strike but with a slight crack. Satisfied at the result, Sasuke thrust his sword at the Grimm's neck beneath him, before leaping and landing on the ground.

'I now have my answers. It's time I finish this' he mused, as he gazed at the beowolves surrounding him from all sides, and at a safe distance. The creatures of destruction growled at him for the death of their kin, yet they were cautious enough not to attack him blindly.

Taking advantage of their hesitance, the shinobi pointed his left hand at the beowolf in front of him before muttering, "Raiton: Chidori Eisō". Before the others could react, a spear made out of lightning rapidly extended from Sasuke's free hand and impaled the beowolf in front of him, right in its skull.

With the lighting spear still in hand, he swiftly rotated his body in full circle, slicing every single beowolf it came in contact with, into half. The creatures of Grimm weren't even able to helplessly wail nor retaliate, as their lives was easily snuffed out in an instant.

Done with the deed, he deactivated his jutsu along with his Sharingan, as the chirping noise produced by his lightning spear finally subsided. He then glanced around him, to see the bodies of the dead beowolves evaporating into nothing. "How pathetic" he dryly commented, before sheathing his sword and walking away from the one-sided massacre.

His yesterday's guess was right, the Grimm were nothing but puny, in comparison to the creatures he faced back home. Maybe it's because he hasn't yet encountered the stronger ones, or maybe because the Tailed Beasts he faced, massively raised his standards when it comes to strength. They can destroy mountains with ease, after all.

No matter the reason, killing Grimm for the Uchiha is mere child's play, and it would take a lot more before he could change his opinion and consider them a threat.

"Creatures of Destruction" he scoffed, before jumping at the tree branch in front of him. "None but a massive overstatement" he dryly commented, as he leapt towards another branch.

He then continued to spring from branch to branch, just like the old days. While the wind blows and his cloak flutters behind him. It wouldn't take long for him before he finally reaches the cliffs.

As the morning sun shines brightly in the sky above, he welcomed the peace under the shade from the numerous trees. Nothing but silence, surrounds the forest he's in.

In a land plagued by rain, atop the village's tallest tower. Three individuals inside a dim and velvety room, sat on round chairs, facing each other.

On the left side of the space, sat a woman with short blue hair, fixed in a bun. She also has a large light blue paper flower, clipped on her hair. Her eyes are amber colored with lavender eye shadow, while the bottom of her lower lip has a labret piercing. She wears a black cloak with red clouds, and a pair of blue fitted pants that also functioned as her shoes, completed with white heels.

At the middle, sat a man with purple rippled eyes and medium length spiky orange hair. He bore six piercings, a metal bar through each ear, three studs through the side of its upper nose, and one spike stud on each end of the bottom lip. He also wears the same cloak, like the woman before him, and a pair of blue, loose pants with matching shinobi sandals.

On the right side of the room, sat a man donning an orange spiral mask with one eye hole. He wears a black long-sleeve top that covered his neck and chin, a pair of black gloves, a pair of black colored pants, and a long green scarf and standard sandals and white stirrups. On his waist, he wears a thick black belt with armor-like metal plates attached to it, similar to the plates on his upper arms.

The three individuals sat in complete silence, before the masked man broke it. "How is everything so far?" He inquired the others.

"Including Itachi, whom you brought into the Akatsuki yourself. Our members are out collecting information about the Jinchurikis and gathering funds" the woman impassively answered.

"Good" the masked man commented, as he placed his right leg above his left, before resting his right arm on it. He then set his chin on his right hand, mimicking that of a thinking position.

"And how about you? Have you had any luck finding us new members?" The purpled eyed man asked in a monotonous tone, while eyeing him. The masked man looked towards him for a second, before he answered. "Yes, the next is the Kirigakure shinobi, Hoshigaki Kisame."

"Kisame… the monster of the Hidden Mist" the Rinnegan bearer loudly mused. "Yes, I'll get in touch with him from my side" the masked man assured, before leaning back on his chair.

"One more thing, sir" the purple haired woman started, capturing the attention of the other two. "We recently received some interesting news from our side" she continued.

"What?" The masked man questioned her. "One of the Sannin, Orochimaru, is sneaking around trying to gather information on the Akatsuki" the purpled eyed man answered in her stead. The masked man narrowed his visible Sharingan at the news, clearly not liking it.

"What do we do? Stop him?" The woman asked him before continuing. "We are aware of what route Orochimaru is taking" she stated, while the masked man watched her.

"Where did you get that information?" He questioned, mildly curious. "It's from Sasori's subordinate" she impassively answered.

The masked man seemed to pondered for a second, the best course of action, before he looked towards the Rinnegan user. "Pain, you and Sasori handle this. You decide what to do once you get in touch with him" he said.

"Understood" the now named Pain monotonously answered, before standing and walking away towards the hallway.

"The Orochimaru I know is crafty and difficult to handle" the masked man started, prompting him to stop. Pain didn't look back and instead, merely listened. "It won't be easy to extract the information that he has" he continued, while the woman narrowed her eyes.

"There has to be a motive behind this" the masked man finished, and Pain walked away.

AN: I don't know about you guys but to me, rewriting a chapter is harder than writing a new one. I was seriously exhausted when I finished this and it wasn't as long nor messy as the previous one. I hope team JNPR being here along with the others is better than just team RWBY. Previous version sucks to be honest, cause I'm too lazy to add them before.

Furthermore, I hope everyone's reaction aren't cliché. I'll admit, I tried to remove than few days before but that would mean that the chapter will either become too short and it will remove that certain curiosity towards Sasuke. I also tried to remove the break lines but my OCD kept bugging me to place it, so yeah I didn't remove it.

Lastly, the previous title 'A Bird Never Forgets' is kina okay-ish? I honestly had no problem about it and never really thought about changing it. However, when I was rewriting this chapter the phrase 'Song of the Hawk' suddenly popped in my mind and I kinda like it, so I changed the title.

Anyways, that's about it. I hope you do like this chapter. Leave a review if you haven't still dropped one. It would help me a lot! With that said, I'll see you soon, Buh bye!
