It was the next morning and Maya felt weird waking up in her own apartment.
But she definitely knew it was permanent and she didn't want to see it any other way.
She looks at her phone surprised that her father hasn't called yet but also relieved because that means she can finally get a few things done.
It was around four am and she jumped out of bed.
She quickly showered and dressed.
As she was doing her make-up she got a call from Shawn and smiled as she was sure it would call earlier.
"Hey Dad. How's it going there?" Maya asked.
"Good. You are chirpy. What are you doing today?" Shawn asked.
"Well Mrs Matthews gave me a job at the bakery for the time and I got an apartment above them so I am pretty much settled in. They came yesterday here with a whole bunch of groceries that I don't think I have to buy myself stuff for the next two months. How is Raven?" Maya asked.
"Sleeping. She was actually quite good last night. So you have work and then what are you doing?" Shawn asked.
"Well it is a eight-five job so I'll probably then start with dinner or something. I think I'm gonna have to learn to cook ahead at night. But I'm happy to start my new life here. It's going to be better off if I am here. Me being in Paris isn't a good idea. My last incident made that clear. I have to go. I still have a few things to do before I have to go to work. I'll call you later."
"Take care Maya," Shawn said and put the phone down.
It was a few hours later and Maya was ready to go to work.
She was definitely not feeling up to facing all of the people and when it did come to being hostel she was never very good.
But now she had a chance to prove herself wrong so hopefully she will be able to do that.
Of course just as she was heading out of the door she gets a call from her father.
"Yeah Dad? What is it this time?" Maya asked as she locked her apartment door.
"Funny. How are you? You off to work?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah but I'm anyway going to be early. By an hour cause I only start at eight and it's barely seven," Maya said laughing.
"When are you coming back?" Shawn asked and Maya sighed standing still.
"Dad, no. I'm not coming back. I'll come for Raven's birthday in April but I don't think I'm gonna move back to Paris. I really do feel better since I came here. I think I'm gonna get..."
"And if I say I'm not moving the business?" Shawn asked and Maya exhaled.
"You are not blackmailing me like that. If you want to stay in Europe, fine. But I'm not going back. Listen I have to go. I think I'm gonna pop by Riley on my way. Bye," Maya said and put the phone down.
She couldn't believe that her father wanted to do that to her.
She couldn't stay another day in Paris without thinking about what she would do to herself.
She texts Riley to let her know that she is on her way and immediately she answers the door when she knocks.
"Coffee is ready. How late is your shift?" Riley asked handing Maya a cup.
"Eight so I'm early. Shawn just made my temper rise five levels. I can't believe what he just did," Maya said.
"Is everything okay? Did you really just miss us or is there something you're not telling me?"
"Riles I'm fine. You are seeing me. Nothing is wrong. But I definitely won't go back to Paris. Except for April," Maya said.
"What is happening in April?" Riley asked.
"My sister is turning one on the 27th. Can bareky believe she is already eight months. What are we doing for your birthday? I know I'm gonna be occupied but no reason why we can't do something for you," Maya said.
"What about just a party with our friends? We haven't been together for a long time," Riley said.
"Yeah that sounds like fun. Okay now I have to get going otherwise I'm gonna be late. I'll see you later," Maya said and was gone.
