Her eyes were green - color of the Matrix code.
"Morpheus was right," Neo thought as he was holding his baby daughter in his arms, "Fate does have a sense of irony."
The little girl was looking up at her father with confusion written all over her lovely face. He was different from all the other people she'd met in her short life so far: his eyes were always covered with silver lenses and all she could see was her own reflection staring right back at her. And it was very confusing indeed.
Neo couldn't help smiling. As a skillful hacker, he'd written a fair share of complicated programs and tricky viruses, but this precious baby was definitely his finest work. Carefully, he pressed a soft, loving kiss to her forehead. His daughter cooed sweetly in response; she wasn't afraid of him. Even at this young age, she seemed to understand that appearances can be deceiving.
That blissful moment didn't last long though. The baby started crying for some reason that Neo couldn't figure out. With no other options left, he began rocking her gently and singing:
"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat
How I wonder what you're at!
Up above the world you fly,
Like a tea tray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!"
Surprisingly, the strange lullaby worked. His daughter calmed down and went to a peaceful sleep.
"I guess Tetra has a thing for Alice in Wonderland just like I do," came a soft voice.
Neo lifted his head and saw his wife standing in the doorframe with a smile on her face. Trinity had long hair now and gained some weight; she looked different from the days of war, enjoying her motherhood and embracing the long-forgotten femininity. Neo liked her that way and he was happy to be the reason of these changes.
"Like mother, like daughter," he replied and smiled back. "I knew it should work".
Trinity came up and carefully wrapped her arms around them. "I love you," she whispered softly.
Neo silently thanked the machines that they restored his sight and he could see his girls through the mirrorshades. Trinity and Tetra. One plus three equals four. Four Great Elements. Four corners of the world.
"I love you too".
He felt complete.
