This is my attempt at writing a Zootopia fanfic enjoy I guess...
I DO NOT OWN ZOOTOPIA NOR THE CHARACTERS ONLY OC'S
Darkness. An eight-letter word that haunts me.
That is all I have known. After getting shot in the head it has been just ... darkness. I've been in some semi-conscious state that blends reflection with reality. I can not see nor hear anything, just darkness. I can not speak. I don't even know if I have a physical form anymore. I have just been in void replaying memories over and over. Some good and others not so good, I relived the memories of when I was a child just playing in the woods under my parents' watchful eye. I remember my time in the military and my dramatic ending. I remember my school years and the people that have been important in my life.
I can not tell you how long I was here, a thousand years, a second. No idea.
I was again reflecting on my the memory of my death, I stood there, with no form it was like I was a pair of floating eyes that didn't exist. Memories were probably worse than the darkness. You stood in a place you couldn't feel, smell, or taste. There was no color just black and white, it was calming seeing white instead of just black but, it still haunted you of the want to see colors.
Well, I was watching my not-so-fun death for about the 100th time. Regretting my actions hoping to somehow intervene with the past. As he raised his gun and I muttered "forgive me mother", I felt a weird feeling over my "being". My memory begins to melt and dissipate away, I get frantic. Although I could not speak or move, I internally went frantic. What if I was losing my ability to at least live the past? Would I be in darkness forever?
My whole being began to move backwards, I internally gasped. I haven't been able to move in who knows how long. It felt like the world's biggest vacuum cleaner was sucking me up and I could feel a pull on my consciousness. I tried to stay where I was put but the memory fully left leaving darkness as it's parting gift. Before I could devise a plan I shot backwards. I don't know how fast I was traveling seeing as I could not feel and only saw darkness but, the violent sounds of the wind told me. Pretty damn fast.
Then, a flash of brilliant white light.
I saw a red tint in my vision. Like the color of sun and light through human skin. Wait... SKIN! My eyes flew open and I saw a sea blue and felt a sharp pain in my eyes. I closed my eyes and the pain slowly subsided. I opened my eyes again and was greeted with a gentle blue sky with white puffy clouds. I was so happy, I started to tear up. I SEE COLOR!
I stared up at the sky and drank with my eyes, ambrosia, the sweet nectar of the gods. I just stared with wonder and befuddlement at the sky and its majesty. I soon began to think about why I saw these things and out of nowhere as a matter of fact. Until I noticed tears. Right under where my eyes would be I felt liquid pooling under and running down my cheeks. Out of instinct, I wiped my cheek, and then I felt a body and ... SAW MY HAND?
I lost my mind and laughed like a maniac but, it came out hoarse and forced. I laughed a good two minutes before I had to breathe. Breath. I haven't noticed I was breathing until I came out of my trance the sight of the sky ushered me into. I inhaled and exhaled at a fast pace cherishing the feeling of a lung full of breath.
I slowly sat up, and I felt no pain. Just sluggish. I looked down and I was in ... a country field?
I looked at my surroundings and beheld the countryside. There were rolling hills with scattered trees and large open plains full of wheat and corn. I also saw large rows of carrots, for some odd reason. I spotted a tree 5 feet behind me and I crawled to it, sitting up against it.
I looked down at my body, it was in surprisingly in good condition. What confused me most is I still sported my uniform and had my rifle on me.
I sat there for about an hour before I decided to get off my ass and find some sort of shelter or water source. I was thirsty as hell. I slowly rose, my bones cracking and trembling, I stood up to my full height as my legs got used to standing.
I began to take baby-steps forward and hobbled through the grass. For the first few minutes, I just took in the scenery and enjoyed the feeling of having a body. I then approached a hill and heard a water source. I quickly hobbled up the hill hoping to bathe and drink but, found a town?
Right below me was a town. It was set up like one of those smaller suburban towns with interesting architecture. It sported smaller buildings with white, brown, gray, and tan paint, it was kind of set up like an old wild west town with the main road and smaller sub streets. "The hell", I thought aloud.
I quickly ran behind a bush and my training kicked in. I spun my rifle to my hands and took aim, surveying the area. As I adjusted my scope I saw people. I zoomed in a little further and they were ... rabbits? It looked like animals overpopulated and took over the town. I just blankly stared, until my stomach grumbled. I can dwell on that later, so I take aim on a rabbit sitting still over somethin' I couldn't see. I locked on to my target, flipped off my safety, then I heard it. Rustling in the bushes.
I pulled out my handgun and quickly whipped around and came face to face with a rabbit. I quickly glanced down and HE WAS WEARING CLOTHES!
We both shrieked at the same time, I quickly fired missing the rabbit and he fleed into the bushes.
A rabbit shrieked and wearing clothes? I lost my shit. I was wide-eyed, frozen, and shitting my pants (figuratively speaking). I sat their the gun in my hands was trembling and I quickly picked up my sniper and down my scope. I zoomed and sure enough, there were more rabbits, sheep, otters, wood-chucks, and a bobcat. They were all pointing up at me and yelling. Some were fleeing and some were recording with PHONES, WHAT THE HELL!
I quickly dropped my rifle and ran. I ran a good 20 yards until I felt a sharp pain in my neck. I reached for my neck and felt a dart sticking out. I pulled it out and there in my hands was a dart with yellow trimming, dripping a blue substance. I looked in the direction of where it came from and saw a wolf in a black armored suit, I was confused beyond belief.
"Fuck", I stated quietly. Then my vision got wobbly and my eyes rolled into the back of my head and I hit the ground, and I was out like a light.
I slowly woke up in some sort of hospital. I found myself in a bed inside of a pretty small room. In front of me was a t.v. playing some sort of news, my vision was still coming in so I don't know. I glanced to my right and there were various medical machines and a clock that read 9 a.m. I glanced to my left and there lay a "wall" I could automatically tell it was a fake wall and you could see in from another side. I saw 2 chairs and a stack of magazines I also couldn't read. I instinctively reached for my handgun and it wasn't there. I immediately panicked and begin to lift up the covers I was in some medical gown. Before I could proceed further the door busted open and a female kangaroo walked in wearing a lab coat and glasses. Her nametag read Ruby. "Sir sit down please, you will injure yourself", she coaxed smoothly. When I saw her I was about to lose it but, I have seen so much shit in the past I don't even know how long I've been here, I just huffed and hit the bed like a dead weight.
"Thank you, sir", she calmly stated. I took this moment to examine her, I mean a talking animal like what?
She walked in a light hop across the room to the pc and sat down spinning the chair to face me.
When she looked at me I got a good look at her face she had brown caramel ... fur? Would that be the word? She had a slender face and snout with a twitching charcoal black nose. Under her snout throughout her neck, she had a lighter tanned fur that ran down towards her chest area. "Sir, my eyes are up here", she stated in a humourous fashion I then realized what I was doing and quickly averted my eyes. "Sorry I am just not used to seeing ... animals ... like you", I attempted to explain embarrassed of my actions. "No need", she chuckled waving her hand. "We never took an eye off you for the week you were here sir", she stated still in a humorous voice. That alarmed me I quickly asked, "A WEEK!" "Sorry sir, we had to keep you sedated while we tested you", she quickly apologized.
I was shocked, it had already had been a week since I got darted.
She then put a pair of reading glasses on and pulled out a clipboard. "Let us get down to business", she stated breaking my train of thought. "We saw a streak of light hit a field in Bunnyburrow. We go to investigate and we find you, a creature never seen before in any place in the world. We have reached out to other countries and remote places, they have never seen nor heard of your kind. We also found you in a clearly military uniform with military-grade weapons and no I.D. You attempt to shoot a mammal and run away from the scene", she continued with a kind of vicious tone in her voice.
"Sir, we have collected your firearms and found strange names and markings on your uniform. We believe you are a spy.", she said whilst getting up out of her chair.
She then opened the door motioning to someone outside. Four canines in suits walked in. They were wearing black padded-armor with blacked-out helmets carrying rifles. I could tell they were canine because of their snouts poking out the front and the tails coming out the back. Then a lion, standing 8 feet tall, came inside the room. He wore a blue suit with a red tie and walked across the room eying me curiously. He sat down in the desk chair as it let out a squeak of protest to his weight. He snapped, then the wolves side-stepped in unison in front of the door and blocked it.
He didn't do pleasantries.
"Who are you, what are you, and why are you here", he asked glaring daggers into my eyes.
I did my best to explain but, left out parts of how I got here. He wouldn't believe it. He stared at me after I was done looking for any hint of a lie. He stroked his mane (I thought it looked fucking narly) in thought.
He walked out and shut the door. I seized this opportunity to leave so I slowly got up. As fast as my body would let me.
He then came back in. Lucky me I only got as far as to sit up.
"Ok, I don't know how well I believe your story. But, I can tell you are an endangered species so legally you could get away with murder.", he stated with a sigh, he then tapped his chin in thought.
He then started again, "Our leader would lose it, if, he found out we charged you. He himself is an endangered species and holds them higher than the law. I thought about letting you rot in a cell here but, you would make me a profit. I will let you live off the 'Endangered Species Act of 2013' if we come to an agreement. You will move to the city of Zootopia and you will be checked on once every two days by two of our officers. We would also pay you 2,000 a month and pay for your rent. Under one condition. We are allowed to film a documentary and start a show about your life. Millions would love to see this new grand creature that fell out of the sky."
He said the last bit with sarcasm and air quotes. I sighed not really seeing another way and replied, "Fine, I agree".
"Good', he chirped and quickly got out of the chair, earning a squeak.
He walked to the door, his guards following suit. He quickly then states, "After two more days of quarantine you will be escorted to the city and your apartment, fail to comply with the deal and you will land back here".
He then slammed the door in my room, leaving silence.
I voiced my thoughts, "What the hell did I just do".
Quarantine was awful. Everybody that brung my food was scared and brought armed men in to watch me. If I even fidgeted they would threaten to kill me. I would sit their hours on end watching a television I wasn't allowed to turn on.
8 A.M. April 3rd
I stood outside on the train platform while a whole crowd and news reporters stood off in the distance going crazy with cameras. They cleared the whole train for me. I watched as an electric train pulled to a stop in front of me. I had on my uniform. They fixed it up for me seeing as it was my only clothing and there was none on the market I could wear. They still had my damn guns though, which pissed me off. It slowly screeched to a stop as multiple doors of different sizes opened.
I took the medium-sized doors and embarked on the train, whilst my "escort" followed suit. They led me to the middle and made me climb a ladder. I came into a little glass dome on the top of the train, I looked back down to the hatch confused. It was already shut, I sighed. I quickly found my seat and set down my briefcase of "rations" they sent with me. I watched the cameras pan up at me and the whispers grow louder.
'This is going to be a long day' I thought to myself.
I drowned out the noise in thought, why am I here? What is "here"
Is it a second chance at life?
If so, it is strange, but I will make the best of it.
Hope you guys enjoyed it. Sorry, my story writing skills suck.
