Time heals all wounds

Chapter Two

Gibbs watched her leave after paying for her breakfast. She smiled while leaving the diner to head back to her office in order to speak with her boss John Merlin editor of the Washington Post. He was able to take a look at her business card with all of the phone numbers. While placing it inside the file while looking out to notice a black SUV following her vehicle.

He didn't know whether this particular vehicle was following her or it was just nothing at all.

He continued to eat his food when all of a sudden Senior Field Agent Timothy McGee came in to have breakfast. He had seen Gibbs at the counter as he came over for a small talk. "Gibbs how are you this morning?" he said with his response to the question. "As with Lucy? I noticed her sleeping in the front seat of his grey truck that was falling apart.

"Better than expected Tim during the past three weeks. How's Nick and Bishop?" he wondered about the two.

"Both are finely considered after what has happened to you. But I am not going to say anything further other than to ask you whether you're interested in working for an OFF THE BOOKS operation. Even though officially Director Leon Vance is unable to do anything about it." he said...

"All of a sudden I have been offered two jobs by you and a reporter for the Washington Post. I am supposed to be taking it easy until Vance decides when it's time for me to come back. That's if I want to come back, Tim? I am still basically angry with everything that has happened with Sloane gone and now Emily dying from the overdose of pills."

"I am truly sorry again Gibbs. But it does seem that this reporter is looking for help big time with finding her associate?" he will exclaim with his words.

"She had given me a file to go over for when I get home from here. I will call you later on what I decide to do with this information." he cried out softly with Elle asking whether he needed a refill. "Please plus put together two more plus a Turkey club sandwich added to the bill."

"Call me on my cell in case I might be out in the field for a case that all of us are working on for a dead marine. I don't wish to let any others find out just what we are doing and this includes Director Vance."

"Fair enough Tim and thank you for everything. It's not been easy being off these past three weeks. But talking to that woman really has to be excited somewhat about getting involved in a worthwhile project even though it could be dangerous?" he responded with finishing up with the last sip of his coffee before paying his bill.

Tim stayed in the diner with needing to eat himself as well before heading back to NCIS.

Editor John Merlin had been waiting for Marcie to arrive back. He had been working on the edits on other reporters that were going to post in a few others. Marcie had called him earlier letting him know that she had spoken With Special Agent Gibbs of NCIS.

Sitting in his office drinking black coffee and smoking having to be his two worst habits right now besides working too many hours with this job having cost him a wife the past few years.

There was a knock on his office door in order to alert him for the most part. She walked in with her hands empty assuming that she had given him the file.

"He's going to call me letting me know on whether he's going to be taking the job of helping with finding Dan." she sat down trying to stay calm.

"Are you sure that you made the point both to Director Vance and this Gibbs that's it's a priority with trying to find him before he's found dead or worst?" he stated with Marcie pissed off that she let this happened in the first place to have her partner to go deep with the research of the new cartel moving into Washington. D.C. region.

"Hopefully he will do it after being suspended the past three weeks?" her boss had to say on the subject of one Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

"He seems so lost with being out of work right now John. Maybe if he decides that his persona might change for the better?" she said with getting up. "Before I forget did you get my copies of the two other stories we were working on that are now finished?"

"I got them and I must say that both of the stories are fantastic! You and your associate are going to win all types of awards for the Post?" he was smiling and happy at the same time.

"Thanks, John. I am going home to rest for a few hours," she responded with getting up head home to her house outside of D.C. taking the highway taking only 15 minutes at best with the traffic.

Abandoned warehouse down the harbor that had been empty for the past few years. The new local Cartel has been using the warehouse with bringing in the merchandise needed as with the drugs for the local vendors and its customers.

There was a lone man tied up against a post after having been beaten to a pulp. Two males in their forties had been grilling him for what type of information they have on the Cartel and what is his partner up to with the third and final story they were working on.

So far he hasn't given them anything at the moment until they decide to come after him again. He didn't know how much more he was able to take?

He was trying to break his bindings behind his back of the post. He was causing more harm with his wrists to bleed with cutting into them. However he heard a noise as he stopped what he was doing.
