Time heals all wounds

Chapter 16th

"Don't you worry? You're going to be fine Marcie. I don't wish to upset boss that we weren't going to be doing our jobs?" McGee commented for which Marcie needed to ask.

"Why do you call Jethro boss all of the time?" she said to him with grabbing her personal belongings.

"He's my boss as the supervisory senior field agent team leader for the better of 18 plus years over me. Hopefully, someday I will be in that position Marcie." he cried out with making sure that the front door to the house is locked.

"Jethro is a wonderful man and he needs the time to rest now after all of the stress he's been under the past few years," she said about him as if something else was going on.

"I do hope that you don't mind me asking Miss Warren. Do you care a great deal for Leroy Jethro Gibbs?"

"A great deal McGee and I do hope that he's going to be able to recover from all of his demons, pain, and emotional upheaval in his life starting with the suspension and prior?" she replied.

"Meaning a certain judge finding out about his past, shooting me twice during an undercover operation, the death of Breena, Emily, and now with the dogfighting ring with his suspension?"

"No doubt McGee." he placed her things into the truck in order to meet up with the others at NCIS and switch vehicles into a truck making it easier traveling on the roads leading to Gibbs cabin in Pussem county.

Five hours later

They had stopped at the local Pussem county BP gas station to fill up the black truck supplied by NCIS. Everyone needed a break with stretching their legs and drinks. Even though once they get to the cabin very soon before dark. They will be able to start up Gibbs fireplace and begin to burn the steaks for dinner.

Even Lucy felt cooped up with being in the back of the truck. Marcie had placed her leash on in order to take her for a quick walk into the woods with Torres as a guard in case of trouble.

"It's beautiful up here Nick?" she claims as she watches Lucy doing her business while using the plastic bag picking it up to have it placed into the garbage.

"It's a no wonder Gibbs loves coming up here twice a year or more?" Nick said as they headed back.

"I would love to live up here someday and put up some roots?" she exclaimed with her words with Nick helping to place Lucy back in the truck while Lt. Brown and McGee had picked up some supplies.

"How much longer to Gibbs cabin?" Lt. Brown asks with getting into the back again with his legs already complaining as with Nicholas Torres.

"Twenty minutes at best Lt. Brown." McGee checking his GPS. Even though he was losing a signal with his phone. Though his laptop still had a signal connecting to his email system.

It was getting dark as if there was some type of storm was on the horizon. "Shoot! The bad news there is a rainstorm on its way even though the weather forecasters are saying that it's not going to last long."

"When?" Marcie was a concern, especially for Lucy.

"25 minutes the most. I am going to rush a little with the driving. So everyone needs to hold on?" he insisted with his orders as Lt. Brown was holding onto Lucy without getting hurt in the process.

It was a little rough at first. However, as it turned out McGee drove up to the side of the cabin.

Everyone turned on the three lanterns in order to head inside with bringing the personal belongings, Lucy, and the sleeping bags since there were only a bunk and a small cot to be sleeping on. Along with the table and cabinets up against the wall with the supplies.

It started to rain hard with a single streak of lightning going across the sky to scare Marcie and Lucy shaking a little baby. She stayed in the corner with her small bed and her food/water.

Meanwhile, McGee waited some 35 minutes later when the rain stopped and the sky was clearing up with the sun over the horizon.

Marcie needed to use the outhouse to bringing her revolver and a roll of toilet paper just in case. One thing for sure the temperatures after the rainstorm had dropped and she needed to keep her jacket on. While Torres was working on getting the fireplace started having watched Gibbs a few times at his house.

She was able to hear a noise as if some type of animal as she was right. She ran back to let McGee know about the deer. She was going to grab her rifle to take it down looking to be a six-pointer and enough deer meat to be stored.

"Look at how big that deer is?" Lt. Brown exclaimed with his words watching Marcie firing three times to drop the deer to the ground. "You have a great eye Miss Warren?" he commented with going along with her to check it out. Now the problem was to bring it to the side of the cabin and cover it until everyone was ready to slice into it.

"Thanks. I have practiced over the years. Jethro will be proud of me for taking down this huge six-pointer." she says with a smirk on her face to prove that she was able to do it in a man's world.

"Now what?" Lt. James Brown had to ask.

"We use a rope to drag the deer up against the cabin wall and cover it for now." she quipped to have Lt. Brown complaining along with being hungry, thirsty, and tire from the long drive.

With the help of McGee, Torres, Lt. Brown. They were able to pull the six-pointer to the cabin and cover it really well. But in the meantime, it was up to Marcie to start working on the dinner and taking out the steaks, potatoes, and bread from the freezer and fridge.

Torres helped her out. While it was up to Lt. Brown to patrol the area with his rifle as with McGee until it was time for dinner.
