So I stayed up to midnight two nights in a row to rewatch the show and... you know the feeling when your heart aches but in a happy way? That's how I'm feeling right now. I just adore this show so so much!

Anyway, this one's a bit shorter than the rest, but the Sunday chapter is on the longer side so hopefully that compensates a bit :P But I'm excited for this because Flynn is finally here (aka the best of best friends)!

Also before I wrap this author's note up, muchisimas gracias, Kandra K, por todos los comentarios! He estudiado español, así comprendé el mayor parte (y traducé el resto jajaja). Me hicieron muy feliz! :D

Enough of me now, on with the chapter!

One of those days

Flynn was taking books out of her locker when Julie laid her chin on her shoulder and said, "Hug me please?"

"As if you even have to ask." Zipping their bag back up, they twisted around and squeezed their best friend tight, air ghosting against their neck as Julie sighed and melted into the touch. As if the embrace was the very thing keeping her on her feet. "One of those days, huh?" they said when Julie finally pulled back.

Julie nodded. "Yeah." A pause. "Luke found a demo CD in the attic this morning… for Rose and the Petal Pushers."

Oh. "One of your mum's bands," Flynn filled in softly.

"Mm. I didn't listen to it yet, but I kept thinking about it - and her - all the way here."

For a moment they stood there facing each other, the chatter of passing students filling the silence. Then Flynn hoisted her bag up further on her shoulder, meeting her best friend's gaze. "Okay. Talk or distract?"

"Distract," was Julie's immediate reply.

And Flynn did. She talked about the ugly sweater she'd convinced her mum not to buy her dad for his upcoming birthday... the comeback feud she'd gotten into with Carrie under one of the girl's posts... smuggled Julie notes and caricatures she drew of their teacher in math class... spent pretty much the entire lunch period braiding Julie's hair (which looked awesome afterwards).

And every smile, every amused snort, every laugh they managed to coax from Julie felt like the biggest victory.

That night, the two of them were up in Julie's room, just hanging out and talking, when Julie got up from the bed and crouched down in front of the CD player. For a moment she fiddled with it, then curled up on the bed next to Flynn again.

Flynn returned the embrace as the first few riffs of Rose and the Petal Pushers' demo blasted through the air.
