A Titans Titan: Chapter 2
The discovery of a Titan
It was a dark and calm night until the crime alert went off for the Titans, it startled the Titans out of a dead sleep and after getting suited up had raven teleport them into the prison. Outside they heard and felt a loud stomp, and when the Titans heard the first hit to the prison door they situated themselves and stayed in the rafters waiting for the villain. Upon the doors finally bursting inward off the hinges they saw it was the not so bright cinder block.
"Hey cinder block, I thought the bad guys would break out of the prison, not into it." Said Beastboy which caused the villain to glance up to see the whites of five sets of eyes.
"Yeah, I can think of five reasons why you wouldn't want to." Said Robin as he jumped down from the rafters followed by the rest of his team. The fighting commenced while Cinder Block retreated down the hallway towards a heavily secured part of the prison.
All cinderblock heard was "sonic" and "boom" as he glanced back to see the one smelling of hair gel and the other of motor oil get tangled up and fail their attack.
As cinder block turned around again to see if those brats were following him he saw them arguing as he broke through various cells to cut the travel time shorter to his objective, releasing prisoners as a distraction. As cinder block entered the heavily sound proofed room he saw the sleeping target he was sent to retrieve floating in a tube full of melatonin, as cinder block looked around the walls. The walls were projecting soothing sounds and images like one would use to put a toddler to sleep.
Seeing his objective he ripped the tube out of the spot it was anchored and went off to deliver the target.
As cinder block entered Slade was sitting at a computer terminal with the prison's blueprints for its recent add on for its newest arrival from Cadmus, he turned around to see the lumbering stone behemoth drop the tube in front of him with a somewhat smug expression on his stony face.
"Cinder Block, I see your mission was a success. Now, on to phase two… awaken him!" Said Slade as he clenched his fist in front of his face as he sat back into his chair. Cinder Block did as commanded and ripped the top of the tube off awakening Plasmus.
"I'm awake? Oh no, I shouldn't be awake! I'm only human when I'm sleeping!" Said the now conscious Plasmus, at this Slade grinned under his mask and sat back in his chair.
"Oh, but for what I have in mind I have no need for your human half. I need Plasmus!" Said Slade as the man in front of him expanded and warped into a thick pink jelly with glowing green eyes. The beast started to solidify as it formed two legs to turn around to look at its new boss.
"For what I have in plan for you I want those Titans to find the secret project Cadmus has hidden under the prision you just got broken out of. I want you to act as if you're trying to steal the tube containing this experiment and lose to allow it to fall into the Titans hands." Said Slade as he turned around and looked back into his monitor to see the list of what was being documented by Cadmus before they were busted, he was scrolling through the theoretical potential of what experiment could reach. Slade wanted to see this creature reach its pinnacle and then rip the rug out from under it and have it fall under his control.
"Yes master." Gurgled Plasmus, as he liquified and slid away and out the doors of the lair towards the prison. As he slithered towards the walls of the prison ihe squeezed through the doors which triggered the alarm again. Plasmus grew into his humanoid form and lumbered towards where he was ordered to go, tanking blaster shots along the way, and washing away some guards as well.
"Plasmus!" Shouted Robbin as Plasmus turned around to see four of the five Titans. They leaped into action with Raven and Starfire blasted him with black and red beams of energy respectively performing aerial acrobatics as they did so as their blasts intertwined, with Robin attacking him with explosive shuriken and various kicks to where his human weak spots should be, and Beast Boy turning into a T-Rex to charge him and overwhelm him with sheer mass. Each was only met with the squelch of slime and zero damage to Plasmus.
As Plasmus realized he was outnumbered he split into six parts of himself and scattered, five paired off with one of the five Titans respectively to overwhelm them. The sixth slithered its way towards the basement, it came across a heavily fortified vault door and squirmed part of his body pulling something to the surface. Plasmus hen spit out a hacking jack from his slime into the keypad of the vault, and with it the lock the door opened with a *pshhhh* of pressurized air and the sixth of Plasmus entered an area containing the tube he was sent to reveal.
"What are you doing there slimy?" Asked someone behind Plasmus, as he turned around he saw the hero Cyborg behind him with a large vacuum like machine on his back. Before Plasmus could think of anything he was sucked up into the machine.
"Now, what is it that he was here for?" Asked Cyborg as he walked up to the tube and placed a hand on it, before he knew what hit him another hand placed itself up against his own through the glass. This caused the organic eye of cyborg to widen and had him step back, using his robotic eye to document the event and to scan the vault lock of its passcode he left to help the Titans to capture Plasmus.
As Cyborg walked down the hall he heard screaming for most of the other Titans members, he started to run before he saw a set of blurs run past him and saw a bunch of pink approaching blobs in front of him. He turned around and ran back to the vault and met back up with the Titans. As he ran past the vault door he reprogrammed the hacker jack then pulled it out of the keypad with him into the vault, causing the door to close.
"Friend Cyborg you have returned!" Said Starfire as she rushed forward delivering a bone crushing hug. Cyborg then wrapped his arms around Starfire in gratitude after the shock on his face wore off.
"Welcome back, and I'm sorry." Said Robin as he walked over reaching out his hand. Cyborg took his hand in a firm grip and shook his hand with a look of gratitude on his face.
"I'm glad to be back, and I'm sorry for overreacting as well." Said Cyborg, he walked over and exchanged pleasantries of being reunited with Beast Boy and Raven.
"Hey Cy, glad to see you back."
"Glad to be back Grass Stain." Said Cyborg, as he turned around he saw Raven in a battle stance with glowing black energy formed around her hands.
"I'd love to say how nice it is to see you, but we're currently under attack." Said Raven in her dead monotone voice, although if one looked closer you could see a slight ghost of a smile on her face.
The joyous mood was ended by the sound of pounding on the titanium vault door, and then all was dead silent. When this happened Beast Boy decided to crack a joke due to release some stress.
"Well I think we're safe until he learns how to open high tech vault doors." Said Beast Boy. After he said this the vault door started to shake with the accompanying sound of squelching and slowly swung outwards.
"You had to say something." Said Raven, as she looked towards Beastboy whose ears dropped with a whine.
After that brief moment Plasmus launched forwards, and one of the five spit out another smaller copy onto the tube behind the Titans. All of the Titans turned around to see where it landed, leaving the five parts of Plasmus to reform into a whole and to flood the Titans wish slime.
"Cyborg, use the hyposuck to get him!" Said Robin, only when Cyborg tried the trigger mechanism was full of Plasmus slime. All the Titans watched on with horror as Plasmus approached the tube and punched it, immediately the tube cracked and Plasmus hit it again.
"Raaaagh!" Garbled Plasmus as he hit it one more time, finally the extra strength glass broke under the strain, and the tube burst into a flood of smoke.
As the Titans tried to look through the fog they heard the sound of heavy footsteps. As the smoke cleared they saw a teen the same age as them, 17 most likely, step out of the fog. But, that is where the ambiguousness of his humanity started, he stood seven feet tall bulging with muscle and some extra tire, his skin was dark grey with some darker grey freckles scattered throughout his skin. His hair was bone white with a white goatee, when they glanced into his eyes they saw he had black sclera with brown star shaped pupils, and around his waist were the remains of cargo pants.
"Raaaaagh!" Roared this newcomer, as he charged through Plasmus splattering him apart leaving a snoring man in the remains of the once fearsome beast. As the boy whirled around his instincts took over as he leaped through the roof into the halls above to search for food.
"What was that?" Asked Beast Boy, as he looked around at the equally shocked faces of his teammates.
"Trouble, Titans go!." Said Robin, as they leaped into the newly made hole above the vault to follow and restrain this new threat.
"Well, this is interesting." Said Slade as an elderly butler poured him a cup of tea while he sat on his throne. Slade stroked the bottom of his chin, and waved his hand for Cinder Block to come over. "It's time to initiate phase three, it's your turn Cinder Block, you are to test this new player of the game." Said Slade, as Cinder Block thundered his way out of the layer into Jump City.
"What have you determined about this new player master Wilson?" Asked the elderly butler, as he leaned next to Slades head.
"He already has super strength, and super leaping. I just wonder if the other theoretical abilities will manifest." Said Slade.
"Where did he go?!" Asked Beast Boy, as he flew through the air as a peregrine falcon. As he looked over he saw a shelf burst through the window of a closed grocery store. "Guys I found him!" Said Beast Boy, he dive bombed into the store through the now broken window to be flanked by his team when he returned to human shape.
"Good job Beast Boy! Now Titans we have to be careful, from what we've already gathered he has super strength and super leaping but his is still a major unknown." Said Robin and his team snuck over to the sound of rushing and crunching.
"Over here." Whispered Raven, they all huddled behind her in peeking behind a shelf. On the other side of the shelf were empty gallons of milk, plastic containers of rotisserie chicken full of bones, packages and containers of sweets, empty shelves and bags of vegetables, and finally they looked up to see him devouring the frozen pizzas out of the freezer section like the frost wasn't even there.
"So that's what he wanted. Same as I did when I arrived on your planet." Said Starfire, she looked towards her team with a pleading and sorry look as she floated over to the large boy after picking up a box of Twinkie ™ that survived the initial onslaught of hunger. "Hello, my name is Starfire. Would you kindly calm down?" Said Starfire as she opened the box and wrapper handing the contents out as a peace offering.
"Raugh?" Said the large teen as he turned around, he looked at this tanned floating girl eye to eye and realized she was floating. He looked at her and smiled, he took the contents from her hand and took one handing one to her.
"It is all right my friends! He is friendly!" Said Starfire as she smiled as she ate the sweet. Slowly Beast Boy, Robin, Cyborg, and then Raven left from behind the shelf. As they entered the teen they were observing and handed each one a Twinkie ™ until Raven stepped out from behind the shelf causing the large teen to freeze, a dark grey glow spread across his cheeks and handed her two Twinkies ™. This surprised the rest of the group, especially Raven.
"Oooh friend Raven he likes you!" Said Starfire as she squealed in joy, causing Raven to pull her hood over her blushing face from Starfires teasing. Although, it still didn't stop her from enjoying the sweets that the giant of a teen gave her.
"Rou-." Started the large grey teen until the wall of the freezer section burst open and the teen was shocked in the face flinging him across the store, as Cinder Block burst into the store and followed the flying body of the teen.
"Titans it's Cinder Block, we need to help out!" Shouted Robin as they charged to assist their new friend. As they caught up with the two powerhouses they saw them going at each other like wild animals. Both lacked technique but made up for it with the sheer power of their punches breaking the rest of the windows of the store.
The grey teen was slowly overpowering Cinder Block, that was until Cinder Block ducked down and using both arms hit the teens center of the abdomen as the teen brought both arms down on Cinder Blocks head, an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. This results with the grey teen flying out of the store like a ragdoll of graveled bones, and Cinder Block to slightly falter.
"Azarath Metrion Zinthos" Shouted Raven as she formed a giant black ethereal Raven with four eyes to fly into Cinder Block causing him to crack and fall to the floor injured and unconscious. After destroying Cinder Block was taken care of, Raven flew out of the hole in the roof of the store to find their new ward.
As they flew out she saw the teens body contorted and twisted in unnatural angles. Just from looking Raven could tell the teens bones were all turned to gravel, with a heavy heart Raven formed a dark orb around the teen to take him back to the tower to see if they could help him but Raven knew he was already dead.
As Jacob woke up he came face to face with one of the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, she stood just up to his chest with black frizzy Afro like hair, pale skin, black mascara, goth clothing, and an Ankh necklace over a black tank top.
"Hello Jacob." Said the woman with a bright smile, she healed her hand out and lifted him to his feet with surprising strength. As he stood up she bounced on the balls of her feet with a bright smile.
"Hello Death." Said Jacob he looked at her, her eyes slightly widened by an unnoticeable margen. She emailed calmly and began a conversation with her new guest.
"So what brings you here?" Asked Death, she summoned up two chains and sat down to begin the conversation.
"Well you see…." Said Jacob as he began to entertain her with his life's story, which he realized wasn't that important until as of late, but she still listened intently with a concentrated look on her face as she was invested with this.
"Well, that is an interesting story. However I sadly have to inform you that it is not your time." Said Death with a sad smile, Jacob looked at her in surprise and then asked her a question.
"What do you mean?" Asked Jacob as he leaned forward, Death had a contemplative look on her face.
"Listen, you're destined to never be truly claimed by death. You will always come back after you die because of the DNA you assimilated from the Doomsday virus, you will become a great hero. Besides, you have someone waiting for you back in the world of the living." Said death with a mischievous smirk and glint in her eyes. She lifts her hand up and with one finger pushing Jacob, still in the chair, over causing his soul to fall back into his body.
Back in the Titans tower in a secluded room were the Titans surrounding the mangled corpse of their brief friend, Raven being the closest couldn't help but feel creeped out in his presence, like he felt out of place, he felt like a cloth torn asunder than stitched together with patchwork. As their faces contorted with pity and disgust from the severe injuries the walls behind the other four teens were surrounded by dark energy and cracked, Raven went over to join them with a slight green dusting on her cheeks. As the Titans were about to prepare funeral arrangements the heart monitor attached to the team started up and the boy on the table started to thrash and scream.
"Cyborg get the sedative, make sure it's in an extra strength needle!" Said Raven as she used her dark magic to see what was going on internally, as she looked she saw all the graveled bone pieces reassemble and start to get stronger, his muscles tore and regrew stronger along with his tendons, and his skin became thicker. Before she could say anything a plate of some white biological substance bled from the pores on his abdomen, and as soon as it came it hardened into a white plate protecting his abdomen.
"Raven move!" Said Cyborg as he injected the sedative into the boy's thigh immediately sedating him. All the Titans looked at each other and then turned to Raven for an explanation.
"His bones just regrew stronger, his muscles just tore themselves and grew back stronger, an armor plate formed on his chest, and his skin got thicker. The shifting of his biological processes must have been excruciatingly painful." Said Raven. All the Titans looked back to the teen on the bed with surprised and appalled expressions knowing their prisoner wasn't dead and was better than ok.
'There is only one creature with a similar appearance and power set, and if the stories Batman told me are true we might have just let a world ending monster into our home.' Thought Robin as he walked over to the bedside to get a closer look, and after looking closer at the bone plate protecting this kids abdomen he had enough evidence for his claim. "We need to call the league." Said Robin with a dead fearful tone, all the Titans looked apprehensive at first however after thinking about it agreed with Robin's decision. They all knew they were way out of their league in handling this kid, however they knew the league would be able to help.
"Why are we taking him to the league?" Asked Beast Boy, agreeing with his leader but wanting to know the reason behind his hasty decision. At this Robin flinched and walked over to the computer terminal in the med ward. He pulled up a video and hit play, it was of the infamous creature Doomsday right in the middle of impaling Superman on a bony protrusion from his hand.
"Not to mention that the tube containing him was found in a secret basement wing of the prison. However, when I scrolled through the records it all came up blank, he doesn't exist. We don't know why he was down there, and I have a feeling the league will be able to help us find out." Said Robin as he slumped at the monitor, a shaky green gloved hand dragging down his face in stress and fear.
"Oh my God." Said Beastboy fearfully as he looked back and forth between the creature on the monitor and the teen in the bed, and the realization donned on him as his green skin gave way to an unnaturally pale color.
All the other Titans were either in fear or shock at the realization of what they had just brought into the tower, however they also felt some sense of intrigue as the teen didn't attack them when they tracked him down. Which, if he was like the Doomsday on the screen then something is definitely different with this kid.
"Raven, please restrain him." Said Robin, Raven nodded and proceeded to create bonds around the arms and legs of the teen made of dark magic to restrain him to the now floating hospital bed, as she restrained him a dome started to form around the bead and sealed shut with a *pshhhhh* of pressurized air.
At this the Titans pulled the now sealed floating hospital bed towards the T-ship to take orbit to reach the watchtower.
