This technically was my very first story but I never got brave enough to post it until now. 21 Jumpstreet was my introduction to FanFiction, both reading it and writing it, and so it has a very special place in my heart. My story remains relativity unchanged from how I first wrote it back in 2015.
As always, I own nothing but the story-line and OC's while Stephen J. Cannell and Patrick Hasburgh own the rest of the cast and concept. Hope you guys like the story. Takes place somewhere during Season 2.
The New Girl
A teenage girl dressed in a black short sleeve shirt and cargo jeans stared down at the scrap of paper in her hand, making sure she had the right place while trying to gather her nerves before ascending the rickety-looking stairs of an old abandoned church. She walked into the Chapel and her senses are assaulted by the hustle and bustle of the place. Looking around the room, she sees that everyone here might be around her own age. If she hadn't known that they were all police officers, that is. Noticing four officers and what looked like a janitor gathered around a table in the middle of the room laughing, Ninja thought, They might be o.k. with answering my question.
"Hi, I'm looking for Captain Adam Fuller. Do y'all know where I can find him?" Ninja asked as she approached the table. "Y'all? Where are you from, Tennessee?" the dark-haired officer on her left joked with laughter in his eyes, as he reached for a slice of pizza. "Penhall!" the African-American woman sitting on the table chided, smacking him on the shoulder. Gently smiling, she said, "It's o.k. ma'am, I'm quite used to it. To answer your question, Officer Penhall. Yes, I am from Tennessee. I'm supposed to meet with your Captain," Ninja glanced at the watch on her left wrist, "right about now and I'd hate to be late on my first day."
The Vietnamese man standing on the other side of the table smirked as he pointed at the officer leaning on the railing closest to her, "What'd ya know? Looks like we've got ourselves another Hanson." "I'm not that bad to deal with, Ioki." Hanson quipped back, a smile creeping onto his face. With that same smile, the brown-haired officer with the boyish looks and the deepest chocolate eyes Ninja had ever seen, snapped his gum and said, "Come on, I'll show ya. You coming, Blowfish?" The janitor shook his head, causing his black curls to move back and forth, "Nah, I gotta go fix the heater." "You just fixed the heater last week," Penhall growled. "Hey, if I fixed the heater forever. I'd be out of a job." Sal chuckled, moving toward another part of the building.
"Hanson! Hoffs! Penhall! Get in here!" an older, dark-skinned man bellowed from a doorway, manila folder in hand. "That's our Captain," Hoffs explained as she, Hanson, Penhall, and Ninja made their way to his office. "Have a seat." Fuller started as he looked up from the case file to see someone new. "Hi, I'm Captain Adam Fuller. And you are?" He asked, extending his hand. Returning the gesture, Ninja handed Fuller an envelope as she introduced herself, "I'm Ninja. I believe you spoke to my handler, Richter, about me joining your program for a time." At the word 'handler' the three officers had one thought, She's a spy?
Remembering the conversation, Fuller glanced over the contents of the envelope, "From your file, at least what hasn't be redacted; your very skilled for someone so young. Welcome to Jump Street, Miss Ninja." Ninja laughed at the others' expressions, "I'll tell y'all about me this evening. If you want to hang out, that is." "Of course we want to. We'll show you our favorite bar." Penhall smiled. Fuller hurriedly snapped at his officer, "No bars, Penhall. Anywhere but a bar." Not understanding the Captian's apprehensiveness, Tom tried to reason with him, "Why not, Coach? Yeah, she may not be twenty-one but there are lots of other things at a bar besides alcohol."
"Because I can't even get in the door." Ninja said with a guarded tone. "So? All you have to do is show them your I.d. and they'll let ya in." Doug shrugged, they always had to show their driver's license at the door since they looked so young. "They won't let me in because I'm seventeen." Ninja stated flatly as her shoulders drooped from a silent sigh. She had hoped to keep that a secret for a little bit longer than twenty minutes. The tiny room fell silent for what felt like hours, but in reality, it was only a few minutes as Ninja shifted her weight from foot to foot uncomfortably. "She'll explain what she can later. Have a seat." Fuller said, motioning toward the two chairs in front of his desk. Hanson and Judy slid into the chairs as Fuller passed out four files.
"Teens are going missing from Southside High school. Your job is to find out who is taking them and where they are being taken. Hoffs, your cover is Judy Johnson." Fuller stated. "J.J., party girl," Judy smirked.
Smiling, Fuller continued, "Hanson, Penhall. You're going in as…" "THE MCQUAID BROTHERS!" They interrupted, which annoyed Fuller; then he saw that Ninja had stepped back with wide eyes and she was breathing faster. "Ninja, what's wrong?" Fuller's voice softened as he stood and walked toward her. Blinking at the question, Ninja instinctively stepped back, What's wrong? There's a lot of things wrong, but I don't know if I can tell y'all everything. Not yet. Her eyes softened as she forced a smile, "I'm fine, Captain. The McQuaid Brothers just surprised me is all." Ninja knew that she hadn't convinced the dogged police captain so she focused on the folder in her hands instead. "Kathleen Turner, Tommy McQuaid's girlfriend? I don't know about this cover, Captain."
"What, haven't you ever had a boyfriend before?" Doug joked. "No, I haven't," Ninja growled at the bigger officer. Grinning as he shook his head, Hanson couldn't believe his ears, "No way. A pretty little thing like you. I don't believe it for a second." How in the world can she have never had a boyfriend before? He wondered, staring at Ninja; with her long, wavy brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, brows furrowing over her hazel brown eyes as she studied her file. Clearing his throat to draw everyone's attention, Fuller glared at his favorite officers before it morphed into a smile, "Take the rest of the day off and get to know each other. That's an order."
As they started out the door, Ninja asked, "Is there a bed here that I can use? I don't have the money for a hotel." Motioning toward the red and black painted rebar cage with the little one-person bed, Hanson answered, "Just the cot in holding. But it's not always empty." Ninja's hazel eyes grew vacant as she stared at the holding cell. Quickly shaking her head to rid herself of the memories the cell brought up, she said, "No. Not even with the door open could I stay here. Would one of y'all mind having a house guest for a few weeks?"
"Hanson would love for you to stay with him!" Doug grinned, slinging an arm around his friend. "Shut up Penhall!" Tom snapped, shoving Doug toward his desk as he and Judy went to their desks to get their things. Which caught the attention of their fellow Vietnamese officer and friend, causing him to look up from his paperwork, "Hey, where are you all heading?" "Fuller gave us the day off to get to know the new girl," Doug explained. "Lucky. Have fun." Ioki quipped before diving back into his mountain of papers. "Don't know how lucky I am. My cover's dating Tommy McQuaid." Ninja grumbled to herself as they walked out the door. I don't even know how to act like a girlfriend...
